I've made a few simple training missions for myself and I thought I would share them with anyone that might be interested. I did these so I could practice with either a specific weapon, mode, task, or different types of threats and to be able to quickly redo it. They all start in the air, generally right before weapons employment. Hopefully they will be of some use to others that are learning the ropes like me.:book: Share your creations :smilewink: Night Flares and Tanks.miz Practice Helo Attacks.miz Practice engines out landing.miz SAM Hunt.miz Night FAC Practice.miz Ammo Depot.miz MK-82AIR practice.miz CCIP Bomb and Guns practice.miz NIGHT 6 mavs 6 tanks 1 pass.miz 6 Mavs 6 tanks 1 pass.miz River run popup gun.miz Night bridges X 4.miz Land at Senaki.miz Practice Air Refueling.miz Smoke Rockets.miz2 points

Well there is no place to get the last parts I need for the change from the A-10A to the C model. y2kiah Has inspired me to do some work with Sketch up. I think it is coming along well here is a peek at what i have been working on for the last couple of days after being laid off. There is a local sign maker with a chc router I will see what he will charge to make the main instrument panel and the Fire handle holder.:thumbup:1 point

Empty scenario that contains up to 107 real life navigation waypoints for Georgia already added to your CDU on any mission created over this template mission. It includes: All relevant waypoints for the IFR approaches of Batumi UGSB, Tiblisi-Lochini UGTB, Kopitnari/Kutaisi UGKO. Includes also all VFR entry and departure points for those airports. It also includes all published RNAV points for the Lower and Upper Routes inside Georgia airspace. The waypoints are named as in real life and those Radio Navigation Stations are named after their indicative. From now on and using real life charts you can use to the maximum your CDU, creating SID, route flight plans, STARS and even some IFR approaches. Open this mission on your mission editor and create your own mission on top of it. You will observe many navigation points on it but not all of them. For some reason, you cannot visualize all the stored waypoints on the map, but they are there. I promise you :music_whistling: Do not delete those points or they will be lost on your CDU database. This template works for singleplayer and multiplayer missions. Just "Save as" with a different name after adding your vehicles and aircrafts. You will observe in some airports and charts that waypoints are slightly displaced from their real life location. I have used that actual real life coordinates but for some reason there is some slight difference between RL and DCS Caucasus map, no really much but noticiable enough if you look closer. To make use of it, it is very simple. Imagine you want to fly the Tbilisi-Lochini VOR apporach, but we all know that there are no VOR on the actual scenario. Go to your CDU and select as steerpoint the TBS/DVOR and you have now on your HSI, bearing and distance to that station. If you like it more complex, before take off, take your real life charts and create a new flight plan on your CDU containing the SID, route, STAR and IFR approach waypoints for your flight. :pilotfly: Soon to be available on the User created downloads page (I hope) On the meantime you can get it from here. I hope to release soon the "Russian side" of the Caucasus scenario Airnav Template.miz1 point

An 8 person coop mission I immersed myself in and spent a few days creating. Big thanks to Grimes for unscrambling my brain answering my trigger questions. Have fun, use however you want. let me know if there are any problems.... I'll be working on it still to put in radio commands and such to have the invasion move even further into Abkhazia. But for now i just wanted a working one to share with the community. Check back periodically for updates. :) ---Download Link--- Updated mission - http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=84353 Multiple variants included- day, night, overcast, winter. --Situation-- The year is 2014.... Relations are strained once again between Georgia and its separatists regions. Abkhazia has become greatly angered over the recent improvement in relations between Russia and Georgia, saying that Russia is turning its back on them. Especially after Russia has stopped sending materials to Abkhazia also has pulled out their troops. That and the recent power grab in Abkhazia by a military regime leader, who for the past few years has vastly expanded the Abkhazian militia, building tanks IFV's and small arms faster than MacGyver! Also the regime is allegedly using violence against Georgians inside Abkhazia. South Ossetia is backing Abkhazia and insurgents from South Ossetia seem to be mobilizing.... All this has caught the eyes of NATO, who has begun supplying Georgia. Georgia is crying out for help from the international community. Saying that Abkhazian troops are committing genocide on Georgians! Any attempt by the Georgian military to cross the boarders to rescue civilians has resulted in clashes by opposing forces and mercenaries that the regime has brought in. NATO is now in Georgia with limited force, who with the Georgians, will invade Abkhazia. The US has brought up limited forces from Iraq including half a squadron of A10's and F15's for CAP. The brunt of air strikes an CAS will have to be carried out via A10's and Georgian Su25's. The NATO and Georgian invading force will have to rely heavily on air power and with limited aircraft in the region, there is a lot weighing on your shoulders to get the job done. Your job is to cooperate with NATO command receiving coordinates for airstrikes, interdiction missions, and to provide air cover to ground forces in Abkhazia with AFAC help if needed. Being able to enter lat long coordinates in this mission is a must. Oh yeah.... and Russia has said it would be a..... bad idea to cross the boarder into Russian airspace... so try not to. ----TASKS---- 1. Soften up enemy forces along the Abkhazian front at the waypoints. AFAC available. 2. Signal the friendly armor groups via radio commands to begin their invasion. If you do not signal the invasion it will automatically begin after an hour and a half. Friendly Mi24's are available from a nearby FARP. Call them in if needed. 2 Georgian Su25's will fly in after 40 minutes of mission start to help. 3. After the convoy is moving, HQ will give you random tasks to do. If you missed the tasking just ask them to repeat it in the radio commands. You can request 2 tasks at a time... it is possible to request more than 2 but the radio F10 menu will get cluttered. Updates will be given every 20 to 40 mins after a mission is issued for new players joining.... recommend pen and paper for coordinates. KC-135 Tanker is available as well. A10's take off from Kutaisi and Georgians from Senaki..... US supplies are available at Senaki for rearmament and repair. Bullseye is located over Senaki. ---FREQUENCIES--- All combat operations 124.5Mhz Tanker Frequency is 150Mhz Kutaisi is 134Mhz Senaki is 132Mhz IMPORTANT!!! CHAT MESSAGE COMMANDS!!! type these into chat to set a flag true in the mission... an alternative to the F10 other radio commands for if the host is not around..... Special thanks to Speed for providing the .lua scripting to make this possible :) "startinvasion" --- type this into chat to start NATO invasion "choppersupport" --- type this into chat to signal Mi24 support "requesttask" --- type this into chat to get a new task "getupdate" --- type this into chat to get mission update1 point

Having my warthog between my legs and seeing some talk about extenders I decided to make one to see if I like it. Right now I have it mounted on my own base between my legs. It doesn't get in the way when seated but makes it a bit harder to get in and out of the pit. It also looks like a good way to rotate the stick that 10/15 degrees without using the software/target option which I don't want to do. Anyway, I thought some might be interested and it's a bit different from my last efforts with the ipad. So far I have done the top connecter using some scrap that wasn't useful for anything else so it looks a bit precarious in the lathe in the pic. It is bored out to accept carbon fibre tube that I have left over from another project. The M36x2 thread is a bot longer than needed for the stick's mount because I will make a lock nut so that I can put it at the 10 degrees and make sure it doesn't move. The total extender will weigh under 5 oz for extending 9". I will have mine shorter though. Here is the top, I will try to do the bottom tomorrow.1 point

EDIT (1/21/2012): I've added a new file along with the existing training pack (as a separate file). This file is a training mission that includes both A-10C and Black Shark 2 and supports up to 33 aircraft at once. This mission incorporates pretty much ALL weapons and air to ground and air to air roles you can expect to face (including air to air refueling). Me and some of my squadron have been working on a set of training missions for a little bit now and I figured maybe the rest of the community might get some use out of them as well. These are fairly short missions which you can go through pretty quickly and most are very focused so you can concentrate on one particular aspect until you are ready for a more general mission. All of these missions are made as multiplayer so you can either play on your own server as a multiplayer solo, or fly with friends. Included are: Takeoff and landing - Up to 12 aircraft are supported. Here there are 2 sets of aircraft. One set ready to takeoff from the runway (so you don't have to worry about startup), and one set as air-start. In each of those groups 2 aircraft are nearly at 100% combat weight, 2 are at about 50% and 2 are clean and near empty so you can practice takeoffs and landings under various weight/aerodynamic configurations so you can get used to how the aircraft handles in all conditions. Weapons training missions. In each of these there are several target groups of static targets including soft and hard vehicles, as well as light and heavy structures which will take varying degrees of accuracy to ensure a kill. The following weapons are covered: Iron bombs: (low drag and high drag for CCIP and CCRP employment). Cluster bombs: General purpose, anti-armor, wind corrected general purpose, and wind corrected anti-armor employment. JDAM bombs: GBU-31 and 38 employment. LGB bombs: LGB 10 and 12 employment. Maverick missiles: Covers employment of light weight versions of the IR and electro-optical models. Maverick missiles 2: Covers employment of the heavy-penetrator versions of the IR and electro-optical models. Rockets: Covers employment of the Mk1 High Explosive, Mk5 Anti Tank, M151 Anti Personnel, M156 White Phosphorous smoke Once you have mastered the basics you can move on to the Mixed Training mission. There the aircraft are ramp start so you can practice cold starting the aircraft and are armed with a wide mix of weapons. There are a wide variety of targets (and a LOT of them so there will be plenty of targets even if you have a number of people in the mission). There are also moving groups that spawn when you enter certain areas. There are also air units which spawn which vary from unarmed helicopters all the way up to top of the line air superiority fighters depending on various conditions. There are also groups of air defenses to practice against including AAA, IR SAMs and Radar guided SAMs as well as naval units. I have provided 4 versions of the mixed mission. Day LoDif (Day time, low difficulty). All external views enabled and all units showing on the map to ease new pilots in finding targets. Night LoDif (Night time, low difficulty). All external views enabled and all units showing on the map to ease new pilots in finding targets. A-10s are also armed with a pod of illumination rockets for practice of illuminating an area. Day HiDif (Day time, high difficulty). All external views disabled and all hostile units are hidden. Night HiDif (Night time, high difficulty). All external views disabled and all hostile units are hidden. A-10s are also armed with a pod of illumination rockets for practice of illuminating an area. This is still a WIP and not every missions has been exhaustively tested as of yet. Will post updates if there is interest. EDIT: Have got a request to increase enemy strength in the mission... There are now 70 more units for a total of about 150 units... See below. It is version #5. This would be appropriate for more than 4 or 5 players in Coop... or if you have a whole afternoon to kill in SP LOL. 10 Player Coop & Single Player 6 Target Areas - approximately 85 enemy units in version 4... about 150 in version 5 Mavericks and CBU 97 loadouts Takeoff from Batumi (re-arm, refuel and repair works). >>Wind and turbulence are very strong so your'e in for a bumpy ride. >>CCIP bombing will require low level (5,000 MSL or less) I have added a column of 18 Abrams tanks that will attack targets 1 - 5. >> Protect this column at all costs Have also added a command element hiding in a canyon (steerpoint 2 = TARGET). Best method is to fly up and down the coast searching for targets 1 -5. >>Take out SAMs first then heavy armor to protect our armored column. hope it works OK... have tested it with about 5 pilots and it ran good. adapted Operation Pushback 1.2 from Cougar Jeff Surf-N-Turf - COOP-10-v4.miz Surf-N-Turf - SP v4.miz Surf-N-Turf - COOP-10-v5.miz1 point

Of course they are....as well as I'll be sending additional sounds (inverter, APU and engine start) to Olgerd (you're welcome for the true to life canopy sound by the way) mid April after my next reserve weekend. I do all this to help the sim be as true to life as possible and never ask ED for anything in return....1 point

The Super Hornet with its reduced RCS, advanced IDECM, AN/APG-79 which is the second best is the world only after F-22' radar , leaps and bounds more capable than anything Russia can come up with, will always detect the Flanker first. The Russian hardware has always been lagging behind Western equivalents ( The crashing Israeli victories of the past with MIRAGE III,F-4,F-15 and F-16 speaks volumes ) and after the meltdown of the Soviet defence industry the gap today is even bigger! believe me mate Dr .Carlo Kopp is not the best source of information on this. Supersonic maneuverability of the Flanker is useless if you don't know you're being detected, located and shot at. Even if few Flankers get close, they have JHMCS and AIM-9X's to deal with. The ejector seat is the most efficient weapon of the Flanker against the SH1 point

Well as no-one else has mentioned it.......... One of the reasons is that you are not trimmed accurately in the regime you are engaging target at (e.g. current forward velocity or hover). The autopilot then will be fighting against the yaw tendancy of the helo. If you are trimmed properly you will always get a good firing solution on target with auto-turn every time. Realistically though, a lot of times you will not have the opportunity (or perhaps a better word is LUXURY) to fine tune your hover or flight for that perfect trajectory, so yes the rudders is the quick and usefull option. That being said though, your grouping of rounds on target will be significantly widened the less stabilised you are when firing on target. Personally, i can only recommend that if you have time, ensure you are trimmed correctly. That way if you are scanning a large area, you know if you slew on a target the gun will be able to fire on it. Also personally, i always fly with manual fire on. You will find that most weapons operate quite effectively outside of the constraints given by the computer and its associated firing parameters (except cannon lateral deflection - that is a mechanical limitation). And i agree with others posted above. Aside from the Vihker, the cannon to me is the next most versitile and deadly weapon on the KA-50. I often dump rockets for fuel tanks. Though i have not used at all gun pods yet (not sure if there is a need with such a devasting gun)1 point

Goof grief, am I the only one that doesn't want these eye candy features... At least not yet... How about fixing the known bugs first???? Then add the extra major functions for exporting to keep the Helios & pit builder types happy (export radio displays, CDU display, counter measure displays, etc). Then go add the eye candy like pilots and shadows etc. I'm dying for the day I can click outside the main window and not have my apu shut off or random switches turn off! Tim1 point

For me FLIR just need some fine-tunning. At 1:30 on that video you can see the trees, but only the trees outline, there's no 'texture' in them. On DCS the trees texture is very visible and sharp, it could look more like in the video by simply being blurred or of lower resolution. Another thing is making all trees of the same light levels, on this screenshot some are white others black.1 point
