Yesterday, I took the Apache for a spin in VR (Valve Index). I normally run in 2D, only because my laptop 3070Ti/Headset combo just can't offer enough clarity and detail at smooth framerates (I have motion smoothing off as I don't like the artifacts). As I found with the Mi-8, the sense of depth perception allows you to instinctively throw the helicopter around with a whole new level of confidence and finesse. Landing and maneuvering, and (better still) targeting things with the monocle all suddenly feels "right". For short periods it's an amazing revelation. I'm a little envious of those with desktop rigs right now with fewer thermal/performance limits. Because I absolutely would invest in a 3090 and top CPU if I didn't work away. For a guy that grew up on early 90s sims, this module and sim as a whole, in VR, is all we could dream of. Thanks ED6 points

Seriously? F-4, F-15E, A-7, F-4U, Kfir, Kola, Sinai...does DCS have any idea what they're doing to my household budget? Do they even care? Heartless, I tell you!6 points

The Mirage F1 Fighter Weapons School This mission consists of 16 seperate tasks (each connected to a client slot). The FWS will teach you everything you need to deliver weapons in the F1. The tasks include 1 navigation task, 10 air to ground tasks and 5 air to air tasks. You will practise navigation using TACAN offsets, air intercepts, correct usage of the radar guided R530, low level bombing, toss bombing, pop up attacks - to name a few. Each task is described in the accompanying 26 page PDF manual. You will receive all necessary attack parameters, gunsight depressions, sight pictures, waypoints and target QFE to quickly be successful in your new Mirage. In addition, the manual includes pictorial guides about cold start, radio usage and how to create and use waypoints using TACAN offsets. Enjoy! https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3325430/ +++ change log +++ V 1.0 11.08.2022 - initial release V.1.0.1 13.08.2022 - corrected magnetic declination in manual, fixed no gun ammo for air to air slots3 points

Aye, on the face of it it is a shame that we seem to be getting two separate adjacent maps. However Expanding “Syria” to the South may be a bit much for Ugra’s small team of part timers though. They are working on expanding “Normandy” according to ED. At least we will have more scenery available and scenery that will be a good fit for available (or announced) DCS modules. Any chance of a WW2 version with a bit more Western Desert modelled?3 points
-
On the one hand, really glad to get a Sinai map. On the other hand, kinda sad that it's a separate map from Syria, and by a different developer. I was hoping that some time in the future, the "Syria" map could grow to include eastern Egypt, western Saudi and Iraq. Oh well. Maybe, hopefully, I'll live long enough (singularity?) to witness the great-grandchildren of the current ED devs implementing the whole world as a single map.3 points
-
Give it some time. There are two more regions we need to cover the whole area. Turkey/Armenia/Azerbaijan and Iraq and northern Iran. That is every major conflict covered in the area since the late 50's. It also fits great into ED'S world map plans.3 points

Don't bee misleaded by names. The "R 530K" is apparently simply an export version of the "R 530" which is the current available missile coming with the Mirage F1 in DCS, so to be simple "R 530K" and "R 530" are the same. I don't think there is such thing as an "R 530 F", except as a in-between prototype or early developpement or export name. What exists is Super 530, which was, I think, later specified as Super 530 F to differentiate it from the Super 530 D that comes with the Mirage 2000. The Super 530 is indeed a totally different missile than the R 530... Anyway the Mirage F1 indeed can fire the Super 530 F (not the Super 530 D), but it isn't available yet in DCS.3 points

It makes me think, if Virpil have redesigned their flagship MongoosT-50 Base, with apparent emphasis on smooth movement, will there be a redesigned collective coming too. I think, especially when compared to the excellent quality T-50, that the collective's somewhat suboptimal friction axis is crying out for a redesign. Of course any collective is a less popular sim controller than a stick, so maybe it wont see a quality treatment for a while yet. Would be good if it did though.3 points

I do have a up-date planned for this mod. I will be sure to re-test each one to be sure all work as intended. I also want to add tomahawks and other anti ship weapons. And the WWII pack still needs finishing. And....I have a few more additions! The Oberon Class included! But all takes time, and the heat wave has finally broken here. I am going bike riding! A new up date will be posted soon FYI, The most recent stable should now include the New map, and assets. They are needed for the subs to work.2 points

Hello, Is it possible to add to kneeboard checklist the air pressure conversion table ? Like this chart : https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/upload/iblock/22e/1dwrbma741e8frfkvlbyuvjbm535rpnz/QFE_SETTING.png (package: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/fr/files/3316429/) Thank You2 points

Guys, in case you have missed it, we have input fron a real F1 pilot in this thread. See Panthir's post, his answer is written inside the quoted text.2 points
-
It would be nice to have it by default, but you can do it yourself: 1. Go to "users\[your user name on your PC]\Saved Games\DCS\Kneeboard" 2. Create a folder entitled "Mirage-F1CE" if one isn't already there 3. Ensure that the image file has a 1:1.5 aspect ratio (and modify it using an image editor if it isn't) 4. Copy and paste the 1:1.5 image into the folder you just created And it should appear in your kneeboard after the default Aerges kneeboards!2 points

Kiowa FAC-A is working fine for me. But like @Tholozor stated, after "Laser on" command, he will respond "Lasing". Then YOU have to give the "Spot" and the "In". You dont really have to spot the laser, wouldnt make much sense in a LOAL shot anyway, but the AI needs that reply. After that FAC-A should give you the "cleared hot". If he still calls "abort" he might have given you a direction to make your attack and you are not in that direction. Happened to me before. Sometimes AI JTACs also bug-out and wont respond or do anything at all. Sometimes i had them "lasing" (verbal) but it took another minute till the laser was on. (I have a "testing" bed for that stuff set up on Nevada, SP only) K2 points

He is the one, who makes it toxic in the first place. I wouldn’t have engaged in the issue if it wasn’t for the fact, that this is a repeating pattern in different threads. OP has opinions, which is fine, occasionally I (and others perhaps) find his opinions wrong which is an opinion on its own. Nothing wrong with it, is it. But didn‘t accuse him of having any kind of complexes, did I. I just happen to react with a little bit of irony, when he started lecturing me on very basic stuff. See, I don’t perceive the forum in general as very toxic environment. Quite the opposite actually. Most of the time it is very friendly and helpful place. There are certain topics of course, that are more difficult than others and I think we all know which kind they are. Thing is, if someone perceive it a very toxic environment in general (if that is the case), one need to ask, if yelling and attacking people (I mean directly personally attacking - not disagreeing) may be the root cause for it.2 points

Gents, Mirage F-1 engine was very reliable. For your info, 2 HAF F-1CG squadrons, in a period of more than 25 years, had no more than a succesfully relighted flame out and no more that two succesfully recovered partial compressor stalls. In DCS, it needs a lot of work to reach this reallity.2 points

So, that was in May 1981 with f-16A's if my Wikipedia sleuthing is accurate. My assumption based on the way he said it and my limited knowledge of the f16 and GPS would be that the flight was done with INS only. 10 feet of drift is pretty dang good for an 8 hour flight. I don't know if DCS simulates this, but it is my understanding that INS systems drift worse the more maneuvering the aircraft does. For their flight, I assume they did as little as possible. Takeoff, Climb to altitude and turn on course. Then mostly straight line all the way to Hawaii. That would be ideal INS conditions. That said, My limited experience with no GPS in DCS, the planes seem to have terrible INS drift. I'm here because I'm diving into the INS to learn about inflight alignment in the F-16. I need to go test how accurate that can be in a GPS denied environment. And how much Fix Taking can improve an inflight align. Then how fast it drifts, with minimal maneuvering and how bad it drifts with lots of maneuvering.2 points

Thanks! I will change it to 5 in the next update. Thanks to the relatively short ranges on Cyprus, my beta testers overflew their assigned waypoints with very good accuracy. I will also change the phrasing. I stated "-4" to show that the player has to substract 4 degrees (5) from the bearings he reads on the F10 map. I will rephrase that.2 points

Very strange indeed. Never had any problems like this on my system while testing. MovingMap does not look for keypresses and does not send any. Anybody else experiencing this? Thanks for everybody's replies! Yes, the Mariannas and the South Atlantic maps are planned for future updates. So is a release for iOS. It might take some time though, as I am very busy with my 'real job' currently. I hope there will be more time for development in the future.2 points

@BIGNEWY any help on this issue? Tracks and replays were provided in the above threads. Thanks2 points

Pardon the subject line, but wanted to be absolutely clear. This seems to be directly tied to how "busy" a mission is with objects. In single player with a nearly empty map, the bug doesn't seem to be there at all hardly, until I hit the TEL switch, then I drop down to about 2-3 FPS for about 5 seconds, then it stabilizes and everything is fine in the simulator. I can switch away and back with no FPS drop at all. During a multiplayer mission with a lot of objects however.... The moment I put the radar into Standby it's a slide show of about 1 or less FPS for about 10-20 seconds, but then the same behavior. Once it stabilizes, it's fine. I can switch away and back, even shut it down, and start it up again without this problem. However once I go to another mode, such as with the TEL switch especially, I get the slide show again for the 2-3 FPS, this time for about another 8-10 seconds before it stabilizes, then I'm fine. I can do this on the ground before I take off to minimize the impact to my gameplay experience but... this is making the aircraft nearly unusable for anything other than ground attack for me, as when I do lock onto an enemy aircraft, it seems to consider it a different "mode" and it does the slide show routine again. I've got an i7-5930K @ 3.5ghz with 32GB of RAM and DCS running off an SSD. DxDiag attached, and a Google Drive link to the trk file of the large multiplayer mission follows. I only have this kind of problem in the F1, and I own and fly damn near everything. Viper, Hornet, F-14, MiG-21bis, Mi-8, Mi-24.... https://drive.google.com/file/d/15kOS2NSAKp9DVWaOUBo6KlichqIDUrp0/view?usp=sharing It almost seems like you're hit-scanning everything in the mission or something in every state, then throwing out the irrelevant stuff.
