Guys the Admiral Kasatanov Frigate mod is pretty much finished!!! I just need to add the flight deck lights and I will attempt to create the liveries for the other vessels in her class. All her weapons function to include the land attack cruise missile. I will release her this weekend with or without the liveries so you all can enjoy her. Stay tuned!!6 points

Thanks, Guys! I appreciate it. I think you ALL will enjoy the new Russian Frigate addition to DCS. I have to say she is well-armed and can defend herself well. She is almost comparable to the Moskva in DCS! Conducting the final testing of her now!4 points

I understand the frustration, I did not expect there to be this much interest in PointCTRL for so long. However, PointCTRL is still a very niche product, and it's not like there are several thousand back orders. A large part of the initial delay was supply chain issues, which I have mostly resolved by going directly to manufactures. The most time consuming (and enjoyable) part of PointCTRL is the customer service. The next most time consuming parts are assembling the finished PCBs, inspections, testing, and continual firmware updates, all of which would be difficult to outsource - especially with the low production numbers required. PointCTRL is made up of 7 different PCBs, with both reflowed and hand soldered components. The steps that would be most easily outsourced are the ones that take us the least amount of time. Those components, along with the cases, are always way ahead of shipping. My 3D printers are mostly idle because of the speed I can pump out the enclosures, and populating the boards with components is not an issue either. It's the Point of Sale and service, something I can't really outsource, that are the reason why things aren't going out faster. The PointCTRL community is stepping up and helping each other more, and better video and instructions would help mitigate some of the customer service. It's just that I really don't want to sell more than I can support. I currently have very little to do with the PCB assemblies, and in the upcoming months I am going to focus on developing a GUI and better instructions and videos. As those of you that have seen my videos can confirm, it's not my strong suit. Moving forward, having better directions and instructional videos would significantly increase the ship rate. I would not be happy selling a product that I could not effectively support. Thanks, Miles4 points

The failure of HB Tomcat to aerobrake might be related to the "sticky tires" solution needed to stop the thing from sliding off a carrier. that extra drag with WoW pulls the nose down under normal circumstances maybe?4 points

The development of the DCS AH-64D has never stopped since release in March, and will continue for quite some time. The module is in early access, and every major patch has included bug fixes for the AH-64D and some have included additional features. Early access will be a marathon, not a sprint, so patience will be required. New features are also in progress, such as the Image Auto Tracker, among others. The C-130, F-100, and the recently announced A-1 are all being developed by 3rd party teams, not Eagle Dynamics, and therefore have no impact on ED's projects such as the AH-64D. Further, ED has many teams with their own responsibities, so when the F-16 gets new features, this does not mean that the AH-64D is collecting dust. There are many, many parallel lines of effort happening within ED for various modules and the core DCS World software. But there are also many, many 3rd parties developing aircraft, maps and DLC campaigns for DCS as well.4 points

@feipan Please give me more detail. From your ref I noticed more brighter whistle sound of the low rpm engine. And I recorded two flybys from DCS to compare with a slightly elevated compressor whistle. Please check: Flyby1.mp4 Flyby2.mp43 points

I would prefer domestic. After playing combat flight sims for almost 30 years, give me some variety. Whoever says a domestic won’t sell, who are you kidding? JF-17 is more obscure than a J-10 and look what kind of fan base Deka built with it. Deka could release a tricycle and people would buy. Because it would be a high quality tricycle.3 points

@Dangerzonethat's a commendable attitude and might be a great mental exercise for many things in life. Thank you for sharing that... I'll alter my TTPs accordingly. I think you're right about it being subjective. I need to remember how biased I am on the subject. I've been salivating over the Apache since I sat in my first one during Desert Storm then witnessed it's capabilities. I should probably display my giddy joy less often... no sense in further irritating anyone who might already be irritated. These boards could use some more of the comradery we had back in the day. Here are some of my old pre-Apache posts: Posted May 26, 2015 If ED ever makes a PFM/ASM of the AH-64D, I'll have to dig a slit trench in my office and buy a two year supply of beefaroni.. only to find next time I take a break that my wife has moved out and my dog is bonding with the neighbors. Posted July 7, 2015 AH-64.. I'd gnaw on my monitor and whine like a mutt. Posted February 20, 2018 Me if DCS:AH-64 ever happens: "I don't remember what day I lost my job, my house, my cars, or my wife. I don't even know if today is shower day. I can tell you the launch date of DCS: AH-64 Apache though. Ahh what a glorious day! Hey, does someone on your news crew have a sandwich or something? Yeah ok, I'll take off my VR goggles for a sandwich." Posted January 24, 2018 ..I think my vote would go to the AH-64 instead of the KA-52. The notion does put a fear in me though. I will, very likely, lose my job and my marriage if ED puts out an Apache module. (Epilogue: I lost my job and my dog. I think my wife is still here.) Edit: It occurred to me after I posted this, that would be a great Product Tag Line on advertisements for DCS Apache; User Reviews - "I lost my job and my dog. I think my wife is still here." That pretty much says it all LOL.3 points

Nice post. I think the enjoyment of the Apache has little to do with where it is currently, and most to do with perspective and attitude. As my wife has said to others when asked what's the secret to our happy marriage - her response was "to lower my expectations". Ouch I at times get erk'ed about issues here and there - but lowering my expectations didn't change the module - it changed my experience with it. I enjoy it for what it is now. Then when something else gets added/enhanced - I get yet another present to enjoy - and can raise my expectations a bit. This give me a lot of joy as the months roll on and new features are placed, and bugs fixed. I am on servers with some others who refuse to fly it because of one or two issue, and they get real mad. The fact that they can't see past that issue or make accommoations for it robs them of the enjoyment that I get to experience. That's nothing against them - I get it - not everyone is the same, some have a more stressful life, or have lived their life with high expectations and it's part of their personality, so this approach definitely isn't for everyone, but for myself - I'm so glad that ED has Early Access available, let's us be part of their development cycle and I'm able to enjoy what it currently has to offer.3 points

As complex and time consuming as implementing this properly is, why is it being incrementally released piecemeal into consumer builds for the user to have SAS saturation warning blaring in their ears all the time, rather than developed separately and implemented in consumer builds after it's matured a bit more so as to not cause issues for the consumer? I get "EA" and such, but certain things are more problematic than others when thinking about it rationally rather than absolutely.3 points

Hi, here is my take on it. Instead of Bluetooth, this is using Nordic Gazell protocol with a small dedicated receiver running QMK. Only the receiver need to be flashed (via USB) if some key mapping need to be changed. This support keyboard buttons, mouse click, mouse wheel (with acceleration) and joystick buttons press. The CR2032 hidden on the top of the finger should last a few years since the microcontroller is always sleeping and don't need to stay in sync with the receiver. There is no delay after pressing a key, this is very similar to pre-Bluetooth wireless keyboard/mouse. I also added some extra wireless buttons on the VR headset with the same design (but different PCB) for things like centering the view and catapult salute3 points

Ex Apache pilot talks about the problematic SAS... "It's not a normal thing to constantly hear the tone and get the SAS saturated message. In fact, in my 6 years of flying the aircraft I don't remember getting the SAS saturated tone more than a handful of times. Hopefully we see ED make a fix to this soon."2 points

I'd be happy if Jester would at least learn to prioritize contacts based on relevance and threat level. No need to call out the E-2 orbiting 50 miles away. I get that Jester is compensating for the Tomcat's lack of Link 16, and for SA's sake, HB could hide calling out friendly contacts behind an additional menu item: "Jester, declare friendlies" or something like that. I find it especially annoying when he keeps calling out contacts that either are friendly, or hostiles 100-150 miles away, while I'm in the process of AAR-ing, or while trapping (both Case I and Case III). I really don't care about a hostile CAP 200 miles away while I'm in the groove. The latter is also an issue due to mission/ campaign designers often putting the CVBG too close to shore, and yes, I realize that's a decision made for gameplay's sake. Still, if Jester could learn to determine whether contacts are posing a threat. BTW, off topic: @ mission designers, I for one would welcome a more realistically placed carrier battle group, with longer flight times and mandatory AAR. In most campaign missions I have to dump fuel because I'm always arriving heavy over the carrier.2 points

The problem is that RAZBAM has been working on this module so much time that wasting energy on doing something that does not make sense is stupid. It is quite different to make a "strange" set of weapons, even purely experimental - the Mavericks are already ready in other modules, so adapting them for fun to the F-15E is a small piece of cake compared to making a removable CFT taking into account changes in aerodynamic, weight characteristics, etc. "Demands" to do something that will consume the next X hours of work just because that's what you can ... well ... if someone wants to fly an F-15E at the DCS air show, take the F-15C. After the case. During the shooting of acrobatics, I do not see the need to use the A-G radar, night vision goggles, A-G guided weapons ... So I ask - WHY take CFT off ?? To wait for another six months or longer for a module with something it is not necessary for anything rational? Well, unless we make DCS a flying simulator of anything, then I ask for X-Wing and Star Destroyer, necessarily with removable CFT: P 90% of people wanting a removable CFT on the F-15E from RAZBAM just want get the F-15C. Besides, it is not just me who wrote about it many times. It's just that the F-15E without CFT will never be the F-15C.2 points

It's an ego problem with him. He does this all the time DCS diverts from his personal view on "how it should be done". Then he claims "it is because ED goes for full realism", claiming ED's goals and intentions, blatantly ignoring the actual statements from ED about the targeted customer groups, intended ways to customize DCS for your personal enjoyment. For example this advertising for DCS World: (...)"DCS World is fundamentally a deep, authentic and realistic simulation designed also to offer a more relaxed gameplay to suit the user and his particular level of experience and training. The ambition is to hand hold users from novice pilot all the way to the most advanced and sophisticated operator of such complex weapons systems as the A-10C Warthog or the F/A-18C Hornet."(...) For those hell bent on restricting the jet to it's historic usage by the USAF Are you also this upset raz has confirmed they are implementing Mavericks for the SE? Because that's another case of something the jet CAN do but doesn't. The point being the jet has ability to use them and if the USAF wanted it too they certainly could but operationally they don't. They don't even train for it anymore. Very similar situation to the CFTs if they wanted to remove them for whatever reason and fly the jet around like an F-15D they absolutely could. There's no limitation, it's not prohibited, in fact on the contrary the -1 even has the charts for that configuration. The USAF just doesn't because they don't want to, with the exception of that video. I understand that removing the CFTs for raz will result in an unjustifiable amount of work and won't really provide a whole lot of gameplay benefit to boot. So their decision is reasonable. But I don't really understand the individuals who want to force the product into a specific operational use. It's like saying there's a right way and wrong way to pretend. Doesn't seem reasonable to me.2 points

Heh...I pulled up next to a Tesla S this past Friday night when I had just been to a concert that put me in a nostalgic mood for my teenage drag racing days in the 80s, but me and the guy in the Tesla had a brief drag race (I'm driving a Dodge Durango R/T with a 5.7 liter Hemi). Well...he not only smoked me...but smoked me BAD. I guess the 0-60 spec for that car is 2 seconds flat! YIKES! But, I didn't feel all that bad about it. Afterall, he spent over $150,000 for his car...mine cost me 40. No hatred for Pimax here either. MAXSenna said it better than I could have, no other manufacturer represents their resolution that way...because its not correct to do so. That's what I have a problem with. Not trying to rationalize anything or change anyone's minds.2 points

@Rudel_chw hi ! Here is a script I wrote for you. Create a mission start trigger and load latest MIST and this script. Script will detect when a Player or Client lands on an airbase with an airplane on any map. Player gets a "TouchDown" message, and another one if he's outside of runway's boundaries. Then when Player stops he gets message with airbase callsign, runway name, landing distance, distance from runway's entry to landing point and distance from stop point to runway's end. Or another message if he stopped outside of boundaries. (gray quad mark is displayed on F10 map until 60sec after stop to show boundaries) EDIT : script/example updated to include both metric/imperial units and landing in openfield. test-landing-distance.miz2 points

Hi! Good gear and smart decision to go for pedals and head tracking together with HOTAS all at once - you'll need all of them on day one, especially the head tracker. Now get ready for a lot of lovely flying hours, but also lovely sweat and toil learning all these birds (though FC3 are not rocket science, quite a reasonable choice for starters), setting up your gear etc. Nothing compares to it, well, except for RL flying. Have fun!2 points

DCS is already full of aircraft that have plenty of missing systems and capabilities due to the sensitive nature of the information. Why would anyone want to actively make the situation worse by demanding yet another aircraft that cannot be recreated properly? And it's a big assumption that HB can acquire any of the documents.2 points

Hey, I am in the process of updating the whole campaign, currently on M8. Did quite a few fixes to each of the missions, so I'd advise to wait another month or so and then play the whole things hopefully with a lot less bugs than it has now. It is an old campaign and badly needs some fixes and tweaks.2 points

There has been a number of different reasons already given to justify having auto-start beyond "people just watching the game play itself and takes away the interactive reason turning it into a movie", so I'm not even going to bother re-raising these because there's no point repeating what you've already chosen to ignore. No - it just that it makes no sense to you. Your inability to (or unwillingness?) to expand your thoughts to situations beyond your own doesn't mean it makes no sense to the rest of the community (including at least 2 RL pilots that I count here) - and that options like these are good and benefit the whole community (even you - even though you fail to recognize it).2 points

I found a quick and efficient way to generate 432 1024x1024 PNG tiles from my very large map: I use the ImageMagick command line tool. Here's a sneak peek of my progress: Next step: find a way to automatically convert these 432 tiles to .DDS files. It seems that ImageMagick is able to do it. Everything goes according to plan...2 points

Спорное утверждение, у меня есть и второй монитор и планшет, но мне удобнее в интерфейсе игры. Но речь шла, как сказал Minsky, больше про ссылки. P.S.
