Hi At all times, people made monuments to their kings, heroes, or tried to build something monumental and unusual. France and the UK are countries with a rich history, so we had to work on recreating what they did 100 or more years ago. We would like you - DCS users not only to be able to fly over the capitals of England and France, but also to be able to conduct tours of London and Paris for your friends. ---London--- Queen Victoria memorial The Victoria Memorial is a monument to Queen Victoria, located in London. Designed in 1901, it was unveiled on 16 May 1911, though it was not completed until 1924. At nearly 25 metres (82 ft) tall, the Victoria Memorial remains the tallest monument to a King or Queen in England. Richard lion Heart The statue was created by Baron Carlo Marochetti and is located in Old Palace Yard outside the Palace of Westminster, opposite Westminster Abbey in London. With its pedestal, it stands 9 metres (30 ft) high, showing King Richard I on horseback. The king is depicted wearing a crowned helmet and a chainmail shirt with a surcoat, and lifting a sword into the air. The horse paws the ground, as if preparing for a charge into battle. Marochetti described his work as being inspired by Richard I rather than accurately depicting a 12th-century knight. Nelson's Column Nelson's Column is a monument in Trafalgar Square in the City of Westminster, Central London, built to commemorate Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson's decisive victory at the Battle of Trafalgar over the combined French and Spanish navies, during which he lost his life. The monument was constructed between 1840 and 1843. Tower Bridge is a combined bascule and suspension bridge in London, built between 1886 and 1894. It crosses the River Thames close to the Tower of London. The bridge is 800 feet (240 m) in length and consists of two 213-foot (65 m) bridge towers connected at the upper level by two horizontal walkways, and a central pair of bascules that can open to allow shipping. Tower Bridge has become a recognisable London landmark. Westminster Bridge is a road-and-foot-traffic bridge over the River Thames in London, linking Westminster on the west side and Lambeth on the east side. The current bridge was designed by Thomas Page and opened on 24 May 1862. With a length of 820 feet (250 m) and a width of 85 feet (26 m). ---Paris--- Statue of liberty The quarter-scale replica sits on the southern end of Île aux Cygnes, an artificial island built in the Seine in 1827 to separate river traffic from the busy port of Grenelle. The statue itself was given to the city of Paris in 1889 by the American community in Paris to commemorate the centennial of the French Revolution. In characteristic American fashion, the statue was officially inaugurated on the Fourth of July. The gift was given to highlight the historically close bond between France and the United States, and reaffirm the dedication of the two nations to the republican ideal on which they were founded. la colonne Vendôme The original column was started in 1806 at Napoleon's direction and completed in 1810. It was modelled after Trajan's Column, to celebrate the victory of Austerlitz; its veneer of 425 spiralling bas-relief bronze plates was made out of cannon taken from the combined armies of Europe Its height is 44.3 m, diameter is 3.6 m. The column is helical - a strip 280 m long, with 22 turns - is overlaid with bronze from 425 bas-reliefs. Les monuments à Louis Pasteur The monument to Louis Pasteur by Alexandre Falguière (1831-1900) was installed in 1904 in Place de Breteuil by the architect Charles Girault on the site of the old tower of the artesian well in Breteuil. Do you remember the word "pasteurization"? Statue Maréchal Joffre Equestrian sculpture of Marshal Joseph Joffre by sculptor Maxime Real del Sarte and unveiled on June 10, 1939. The work is located at the end of the Champ de Mars. Pont_Alexandre_III a single-arch bridge spanning the Seine in Paris between Les Invalides and the Champs Elysees. The total length of the bridge is 160 meters (the metal arch is 107 meters), the width is about 33 meters. In order not to obscure the panorama of the Champs Elysees, the height of the structure does not exceed six meters, which at the time of its creation was considered an amazing achievement. The bridge was founded to commemorate the Franco-Russian Union by Emperor Nicholas II in October 1896 and named after his father, Emperor Alexander III. Pont Mirabeau Built in 1895-1897. The bridge is named after the French politician Honore Gabriel Mirabeau. The bridge is a three-span metal arch. The main arch of the bridge is 93.2 m long, the two side arches are 32.4 m long. The middle span is covered with three-hinged arches. The outer spans are covered with consoles resting at the ends on longitudinally movable supporting parts. The length of the bridge is 173 m, width - 20 m (of which the width of the carriageway is 12 m and two sidewalks are 4 m each).15 points

The radius dispersion feature is for standard artillery. HIMARS uses missiles with GPS guidance. You need to treat every missile with its own fire mission. Just add more 'Fire at point' lines with 'Rounds expend' set to 1. Then you move the target points to where you want them. Yes, as I mentioned earlier in the thread: HIMARS weapons requirements GMLRS: No special requirement GLSDB: No special requirement ATACMS: No special requirement PrSM: No special requirement PrSM AShM: Requires AWACS coverage7 points

You are probably seeing translating tendency. The combination of the main rotor torque and the tail rotor thrust will cause the AH-64 to translate right in a hover. Below is an image from the upcoming manual revisions, which will include better explanations of these concepts, among others. When stationary on the ground, as you apply left pedal you should notice the aircraft starts to roll to the right from the thrust acting upon the top part of the vertical tail from the increase in tail rotor thrust. With the aircraft on the ground, the fuselage pivots around the landing gear, which has the aircraft weight and friction keeping it in place. As you come off the ground, you will need to apply left cyclic to bank ever so slightly to counter it. Other helicopters experience this as well, but they counter it in different ways. The Mi-24 for instance has it's main transmission mounted at an angle, allowing the fuselage to remain level at a hover.6 points

People don’t realise how hard coding is do they As someone who codes (not dcs) people need to realise it takes ages - let alone the models of the ships. please people be patient, coding isn’t a one day thing - it takes days to weeks. thanks for the work Admiral!5 points

This and other obvious thoughts are the reason why i don't really like Bignewy's answer this time. I'm always, and i will always be the guy of: "If it's like the real thing, i'm happy", but: what's obvious for me is that we are talking about an advanced/not so old defensive system that someone have to sell and someone have to buy to try to save pilot's lives. The pilot safety relies on this system, and i can't simply believe it works so bad. If it's truly this, someone, and i mean in the real world, would have updated this thing to make it work better. I don't have public evidences to say that it's not like this, but i have common sense, and it says: "nope". ED have public evidences it works like that? It's ok, so why the version before this patch was mantained, updated, implemented so accurately, but so different from this? Maybe the evidences they had before this patch weren't so accurate? Explaining this better would help us to understand. At this point why should i have to believe that new evidences are more reliable now? The only thing i'm sure of is that the risk level of my flight is plummeted, and because of an instrument that should be built to reduce my risks only.5 points

I mean... You do you, But this is exactly the same as what ED did with the AH-64 pre-sale.. Went on pre-sale in October 21 and released in July 22.. Bunch of videos between that time. I really don't see the problem.4 points

OpenXR Tools for Windows Mixed Reality Updated - 113.2304.14003 https://github.com/microsoft/OpenXR-MixedReality/releases/tag/113.2304.14003 OpenXR Tools for Windows Mixed Reality - 113.2304.14003 Latest Compare mbucchia-msft released this 8 hours ago 113.2304.14003 a46ea22 Note: This runtime must be enabled from the OpenXR Tools for Windows Mixed Reality, under the Settings tab, by toggling Use latest preview OpenXR runtime on. Changes for Hololens 2: Added support for XR_EXT_hand_interaction (cross-vendor implementation of the hand interaction action profile). Added support for XR_MSFTX_scene_marker (HoloLens 2 QR code location and recognition). Changes for Windows Mixed Reality VR: Added support for temporal post-processing of motion vectors (same algorithm as Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR). Improves the quality of motion reprojection. Added support for Nvidia Optical Flow as a source of motion vectors. Improves the quality of motion reprojection on Nvidia RTX cards only. Added option "Prefer frame rate over latency". This option allows an application to render frames faster at the cost of additional latency. It can be used in conjunction with motion reprojection. This is similar to the so-called "Turbo Mode" in the 3rd party application "OpenXR Toolkit". Moved motion reprojection rendering to a high-priority command queue to prevent interference from the application. Fixed a hang in Digital Combat Simulator when motion reprojection is enabled. Fixed a bug with transparency when using motion reprojection. Removed "Automatic" motion reprojection mode (which only meant "Enabled only in Flight Simulator 2020"). Added options to limit the motion reprojection rate to a specific fractional rate. General changes: Fixed miscellaneous issues and OpenXR conformance issues. === Noticed this has a mention about a Motion Reproduction fix for DCS (hanging) Access this update via the 'Microsoft Store' app on your WIndows operating system [Added after initial posting] Some detailed explanation of some of the options available: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/openxr-tools-for-windows-mixed-reality-update-in-the-store-4-14/586988 Another post discussion this particular version (from Page 3)3 points

There is no difference between the flaming cliffs module in terms of missions just wallpapers. So why not show the F-15, A-10A, SU-25, Su-33, MiG-29 and Su-27 as owned when you buy Flaming cliffs and give us access to the wallpapers and show flaming cliffs as owned when you buy all the FC aircraft individually3 points

It was worth the try between the 2 modes. TBH what I have learned early on with Motion reprojection is that people will either love it or hate it. There is no seeking 100% satisfaction with it. If it doesn't work we'll for you, don't use it. I'm told that using OpenXR Toolkit or Nvidia options to limit frame rate to 1/2 (eg 45 FPS) without motion reprojection works well. Using a fractional rate like this produces more consistent frame latency and helps with smoothness. Perhaps this is something that can work better than Motion reprojection for you?3 points

We'll see about the 9X. Initially that was my plan, but in my experience IR guided missiles works really crappy in DCS when mounted on fixed (non fully trainable) launchers. I would really like to have LOAL, but that doesn't seem possible. But the AMRAAM-ER is a great improvement compared to the 120C. Makes the NASAMS really dangerous at ranges up to 27 nm. And it does well against higher altitude targets also (compared to the 120C etc). And since every missile has its own seeker you can fire all the missiles very rapidly.3 points

INS Updating .... A personal view So the procedure to update is to Select a waypoint, fly directly over the waypoint then press the _|_ then press Validate. Easy. However blindly accepting an update can make things worse. Lets say you don't get yourself exactly over the Waypoint or heaven forbid you have the wrong waypoint selected. A blind update just adds to the error. ... then where are you ? So how to control things a little more. Firstly Verify the waypoint selected and the visual feature are one in the same. Then rotate the mode selector to Alg/Along. Then when you are over the Wypt hit the _|_ THEN look at the left window in the INS to see the accumulated/perceived error in nautical miles. If it looks reasonable then Validate. If unsure hit CLR to reject the update and exit update mode. Whats a reasonable error ? judgement required but anything <1nm is probably OK. If its >1 nm CAUTION have a careful think as to why the error is so large if its logical then OK accept the update by hitting the validate key ... if unsure reject the update with the CLR key.3 points

Yup, can confirm the BARAX controls do not work when you cold start the F1EE. The clickable functions are not working at all, currently. Air start/hot start however does actually let you activate the korry to start transmitting from the BARAX pod. The rest of the controls are dead, though. So the BARAX is basically borderline useless in its current state. Concerning the underwing drop tanks I can also confirm that the tank empty lights do not come on. I think, we do not need an additional bug report for this. It is 100% reproducable for all clients in MT/ST and SP/PvP. Something really went wrong with this patch, apparently. Can happen though, no hard feelings. Aerges will fix this, eventually. ++ One thing to add concerning the BARAX pod, though. Even though the PHIMAT pod and its controls do not seem to be ready yet, please add the Phimat pod as a dead loadout to the loadout options to counter the BARAX pod. Aerges, you would do us a very big favour, if you would do that. Unless the BARAX is not "balanced" out by the PHIMAT many guys struggle to equip it as a viable combat loadout which is sad because the pod is really really working well - and it should be, the French pods had a very good reputation for being very effective and as a bonus very light, too. Also keep in mind to balance the BARAX pod drag a little bit more. The pod weighs only 89,275 kg compared to a MIAGIC II at 89,357 kg. So, the BARAX really should not have that much drag to it. It is very slick, actually compared to the comparable Iraqi Remora pod, which was slightly heavier and more bulky. I think, we need to adjust the drag values a little bit more to make it more realistic since it currently let´s the wing drop like a sinlge MK-84. ++ Aerges, thank you for the recent FM fixes and an overall good patch - and the F1 in general, I really love it. It has become my most loved module in DCS - by far. The above mentioned issues concerning the F1EE do have to be addressed a.s.a.p., though. Greetings, Viper.3 points

It ihas become common practice to see players throw themselves in all sorts of unrealistic manoeuvres when chased by an opponent. They jiggle, go left, right, up, down, in such a frantic and quick way that they become a very difficult target indeed. Fair enough, you may say, stop complaining and learn to shoot. Not quite so in my opinion. Just try to resist to such manoeuvres in a real plane for more than 20 seconds, you will be thrown around your cockpit so much an so hard that you will probably knock yourself out, or at least become so sick that you'll be incapacitated. Look at all the gun camera footage you may find, you will never see the like. We pride ourselves in flying dcs because it is a sim and not a game, I believe this should be taken into consideration. If we are allowed to black out, surely, we should not be allowed to fly in such a way that it would be physically impossible to go on for long. Of course, blacking out happens when the g force exceeds a certain limit. I think the g force standard deviation, or the number of time it changes sign (from positive to negative, or right to left) over 10 or 15 seconds should also be considered to trigger some kind of pilot incapacitating measure.2 points

Been flying sims for 25 plus years, and DCS for the past 2 months.(only fly warbirds) I find DCS the most realistic WWII sim by far, I also fly real planes and one of those a warbird trainer, last week I offered here in the forums to take any DCS pilot who lives in WA state for simulated dogfight (have done the same with IL2 and taken a few people) this time no DCS pilot showed up, so took a friend. After flying DCS Warbirds for 2 months constantly, I have a good feel for most online dogfighting and have seen the impossible jerking maneuvers, which kills immersion. During my dogfight simulation last week, I tried to compare the real event to DCS, FMs and DM are pretty good in DCS. In VR checking six is pretty realistic, a bit easier than being strapped to a 4 point harness IRL, getting the head out of the cockpit is not (VR limits would be nice) Force feedback its something that will make things closer to real. And the most important is pilot fatigue, even in a simulated dogfight you start to get tired, and the speeds are between 200 and 350KPH, DCS warbirds are a lot faster and heavier, so more demanding, some sort of pilot fatigue red out blackout should be modeled to avoid those impossible jerky maneuvers, because really ruins immersion, the pilot is superhuman, blackout happens and its good, but jerking the plane positive Gs then negatives time after time repeatedly , its not realistic, we never see these in real WWII footage.2 points

I suggest you try comparing with and without Nvidia Optical Flow enabled. One might be more adapted to your content than the other. You'll need to restart the game when changing that setting.2 points

Edit: after more tests, the improvement is notable mainly in the handling of repro motion. The update equaled the performance it had previously with steamvr, with the advantage that in some scenarios 1/3 is necessary, like marianas, and it works fine. in the image it is the configuration that I obtained the best. With the optical flow activated I got more jitter/stutering, I have a 3090. thk.!null2 points

Those "to be released soon" "coming soon" "almost ready for takeoff" teasers are becoming ridiculously disappointing and they are killing the hype for the strike eagle completely! My "I can't wait to explore the cockpit for myself" feelings are already gone because of seeing all the stuff on youtube without having a chance to enjoy it on my own. It's been about half a year now since razbam announced a "we hope to release it in 2022" The whole first quarter of 2023 was nothing but teasers that just slowly but surely killed my anticipation for the mudhen. I went from "cant wait for it" to "i hope my preorder-purchase wasn't wasted money"... For now it's just like paying a prostitute for the whole number but getting a lapdance only.2 points

In don't know. I discussed about it with a former Mirage F1 CT pilot and according to him, the problem is over exaggerated. He used to refuel from C160 Transall (which is even slower than C-130H) while operating in Africa. By the way, you can re-arm the ALT with corresponding switches above failure panel. @RDN_Garrett About ALT load, also take note that POLICE light and taxi/ landing light are ON when you take the jet "hot". This may be unnecessary load depending on the circumstances.2 points

To each his own. For me new 50s sounds are quite a bit of a disappointment. It's almost as if the devs decided to go more towards hollywood'ish-Il2GB-Warthunder "wow" factor, with excessively clear sounds overwhelming even the engine noise, rather than towards accuracy. Veteran pilots memoirs mention wing-mounted gun sounds being somewhat muted and felt rather than heard clearly. For the same reason there's no way one should hear any metallic clanging from guns mounted few feet away in wings. Pilots couldn't even hear enemy bullet/shrapnel hits on their wings, let alone bolt action or ammo belts of their own guns. Old DCS samples were much better in this regard. Why "fixing" something which wasn't broken in the first place? I'd hazard a guess new sounds were sampled from some hand-operated flexible mount / turret and that's why they match @Mike_CK's experiences so well. Thus, they'd be perfect for warbirds in which you had .50s backs literally sticking out in your cockpit ie. Tomahawks or Airacobras. For planes with wing-mounted guns, though? No way. Ironically, there doesn't seem to be any metallic ka-ching from fuselage-mounted 13 mm guns in German fighters, is there? Even though it would more likely be present here for aforementioned reason. I only tried them for a few seconds each so might be wrong.2 points

As near_blind said, unfortunately the LSO is programmed only to use the Hornet's AoA to determine the speed callouts, so in any aircraft with a different on-speed AoA than the Hornet, you'll get erroneous speed callouts (and the same will apply to the A-6E, A-7E and whatever naval Phantom we get). Personally, the LSO should be prgrammed to read the AoA indexer repeater lights on the nose gear strut as that's what they do IRL.2 points

Because the current buffet is tweaked for realism plus added immersion. In other words, we overdid it slightly on purpose since release to provide a better "haptic" feedback on your screen or in VR. The new, more realistic buffet schedule trades some of this "translation into 2d/3d" - and while more realistic, may be less preferable for some or more preferable to others. Neither gains you any advantages or disadvantages, it simply lets you choose which level of "violence" you want in the buffet - one toned more towards immersion and one more toned towards realism, while I would argue that the more immersive one is not much less realistic, as the more realistic one is not much less immersive. It is an option that has been demanded by the community pretty much since release - so now everyone can choose whichever setting is better for their personal experience.2 points

Came here to report this too. Amazingly it's been like this since release. There is no way to designate using the A/G radar as it isn't actually producing a 'map' it's still a 'real time' reference, you get a different designation point than the one you click on the radar image. I'm also pretty certain that EXP3 is just a zoomed in view of EXP2 - it should be SAR mode but there isn't any additional processing going on.2 points

For me personally, the accessibility of DCS is heavily dependent on one thing - my time. I don't have that much spare time to fly, so any 'unreal' aids that make the sim more accessible during the time that I do have, will get my vote. I've been a sim flyer for 20+ years, I want the immersion from complexity/authenticity and I'm not looking for arcade action in any way. Just a bit of 'scaleability' that can be tailored to my time and ability. Example - learning to taxi, takeoff and land in the Spitfire is a real art. Yes I want to learn how to do it properly, but do I want to spend all of my limited time without even getting it off the ground? No. Would I use an autopilot to get airborne and into the action when I don't have much time and before I file the module in the 'too hard' bin? Yes. Here's the commercial significance - would the time investment consideration stop me from buying another module - yes. We all have different backgrounds, circumstances, abilities and limitations. Aids make this great sim more accessible to more people, which means more money spent, which means faster development. Just my opinion and experience. Regards, Mac2 points

There are quite a few reasons why keeping a RL aircraft cruising in straight and level flight is easier than a sim: 1) Peripheral vision is easier IRL. Even when head down, you can see the horizon out the corner of your eyes. 2) Seat of the pants. IRL, you are cued when the aircraft does something bouncy, in sims you can be pulling a 6G barrel roll and be unaware of it. 3) Trimming. Real aircraft are generally easier to trim for straight and level, it tends to all even out. Most true for slower, piston engined, straight winged (no sweepback) aircraft. 4) Control feel. In sims, your stick doesn't harden up with airspeed. IRL, you fly straight and level with the tiniest movement of the stick, more like just a pressure which gives excellent feedback. This isn't easy at all in sims, where the spring force is constant, and a tiny movement which feels like nothing can make your aircraft go wild. I would therefore have no problem for a simple wing leveller (IL2:BoX has this for example). It would make sense. Wing levellers do not take heading into account, it just keeps the wings level. It's not really a cheat, doesn't confer much advantage at all (I would argue none), makes the workload more in line with RL since long periods of S&L are easier IRL compared to sims, esp with time compression (see, there's another sim thing, we do it all the time).2 points
