  4. **DCS: SA-342 Gazelle update news** With the release of the upcoming SA-342 Gazelle update fast approaching we will be updating you about what to expect in the first iteration of what started out as a flight model update over the next few days. Starting today by publishing the change log that we have accumulated so far. The change log is subject to change as even today we're still working on new features and fixes but should be indicative of the scope of this update. With this announcement we'd also like to reach out to all mission creators to emphasize on the fact that we're trying to reduce the amount of Gazelle variants available in DCS World by essentially combining these versions. In the upcoming patch, the SA-342 Mistral has become redundant and is now only available as an AI aircraft to ensure mission compatibility. The SA-342 Gazelle has essentially been absorbed by the SA-342L which, in its now much more modular form, is able to be outfitted with the mistral ATAM system. We ask mission creators to be aware of this change and update their (multiplayer)missions accordingly. We apologize for the inconvenience. ‘FM’ Update SA342 - Common to all Updated external textures to PBR standard Added raindrops on canopy Interior lighting and reflections updated Flight model Entirely rewritten FM Overhauled engine and rotor behaviours Updated mass and payload mass parameters Many new behaviours added or reworked (ground effect, flapback/blowback, retreating blade stall, density altitude, ETL…) Engine surge effect from rapid collective movement added Force Feedback support added Removed ‘Easier Controls’ special option Removed ‘Rudder Trimmer’ special option (replaced with new trim options) New trim options for cyclic and pedal behaviour when using ‘Force Trim Interrupt’ None - has no effect Instant - trim position instantly set to current cyclic/pedal position Fade In/Fade Out - trim position will move to current cyclic/pedal position over short time period (<1sec) (also applies to ‘Trimmer Reset’) Applied upon Recentering - trim position will apply instantly only when cyclic/pedal position is recentered Updated controls indicator Red marker shows control position Grey marker shows trim position Autopilot markers removed for further consideration Updated/added network animations Implemented IFF panel (limited functionality) Updated autopilot system Airspeed/Altitude hold mode removed for further consideration “Auto-collective” removed for further consideration Added light indicators for auto-hover (CSV) and heading-align (ALV) autopilot modes Autopilot master switch will not engage/will disengage if pitch, roll or yaw SAS disabled Added smoke display system Smoke launchers can be equipped in the rearm/refuel screen Smoke launchers have a new input to toggle on/off Collective can be hidden by clicking on base of collective Added tablet navigation aid Tablet can be disabled from mission editor Tablet provides map, heading, airspeed and groundspeed GPS information Tablet is disabled / invisible in missions with a date set prior to April 1994 Updated slip ball to be less erratic Fuel warning light now flickers if below 80L SA342L Added new weapons: 2x/4x Mistral 2x/4x HOT3 HMP400 gunpods (100, 200, 400) Selectable GIAT M621 20mm Replaced Viviane screen with periscope sight Replaced Viviane control panel with periscope control board Periscope provides two zoom levels Toggleable gyro stabilisation Selectable reticles for estimating distance Connected to ‘VIS’ mode on Artificial Horizon same as Viviane Pilot sight can be hidden by clicking on mounting of pilot sight AI now able to fire HOT3 missiles Added ground crew option to remove doors Added option to shoot multiple pylons if the weapon is from the same type SA342M Viviane camera code overhauled Viviane multicrew synchronisation improved AI now able to fire HOT3 missiles SA342 Mistral Removed playable version (now replaced by SA342L) Removed Custom Cockpit options SA342 Minigun Added special option to decouple minigun from head/camera view Added inputs for keyboard/joystick control of minigun Added inputs for mouse control of minigun Added clickables and inputs for minigun safety, sight power/brightness and IR laser

  5. Sorry, but I disagree. The MiG-17F might be the best dogfighter in DCS. The PF will be overweight and with a mostly useless radar. I also think that Razbam made the wrong choice with their choice of MiG-19P model, they should have gone for a version without radar, like MiG-19S. Do you have the MiG-19? I think the radar of the MiG-19P is the same RP-1 Izumrud as in the MiG-19PF. Would appreciate to hear your opinion on it.

  8. Thanks, Guys for the information. I knew there would be limits but not like this. I have upgraded my account to support multiple and unlimited downloads. When you have time please try again. I will be uploading more today. I did a comparison and Sync has many more features than Dropbox and a few $ cheaper. We will see what happens over the next 30 days. Thanks for your patience! 13.

  17. What have been done: 1) H-6 pylon loadout added 2) YJ-12 trajectory and booster tweaked, aircraft loadout added. Deka and Currenthill didn't give permission to modify their assets, so I can not share files. But I want to buy models of H-6 and YJ-12 ALBM in future. And make small AI-only mod. If no one do it

  18. PF was only a stopgap interceptror until better and more suitable aircraft were developed. Intended to find enemy bombers at night, and not much else. F and its derivatives were the workhorse variant of many armies around the world for many years. And we're getting SRD1 gun radar, that's enough for Dcs combat scenarios.

  19. I know this aircraft is like super early in the development, but you might want to correct these misspellings: ВЫПУШЕНО > ВЫПУЩЕНО ВЛИЖ > БЛИЖ АВАРИЙНЫИ > АВАРИЙНЫЙ

  20. It’s the one by Greg that flys a dcs mission in the Anton. He states his research indicated we should have more power available as manifold pressures and limits are earlier war limits compared to our DCS plane sets. any chance this could be undated to help. Now A8 feels like a target when playing multiplayer. jokkr

  21. Hi Folks! Building on the lessons learned from my 3D printable F-5E/F-4E grip, I've been working on something new! Rough first print here, but once refined, files will be posted to my Cults3D page (in the coming weeks)!

  22. Thank you, much appreciated! As always, I never discover the most critical bugs until after release of version 1.0.0. This time there's an conflict between the STR and the optional SR resulting in bad performance (simultaneous target channels etc). I have already fixed the issue and will release a 1.0.1 shortly. As for your suggestions: 1) I configured it in accordance to the available data: 2) For the Cheese Board, I chose the first mode of operation. The CCW rotation is an error on my part, I will get that fixed.

  24. 17F has the looks, the performance and the pedigree I think, PF is interesting but 19P is close enough if you want a *mostly* useless radar.

  25. It is for CPGs that use a 4-way or 8-way hat for slewing the TADS, instead of an analog stick. This setting will let the TADS slew slowly at first, then ramp up the speed the longer you hold it, which allows quick taps on the hat to make small movements.

  26. The Viviane camera behaviour has been rewritten, the sync logic was updated to account for this. Multicrew was mostly fixed last year in any case. Yes, of course it was tested in VR. Stop worrying, you'll like it, it becomes very natural to use.

  28. Agree with Zius and some1, Razbam fumbled with doing the MiG-19P instead of the much more common 19S (which could have been used also as the widely exported J-6) The plain MiG-17F is perfect for many scenarios and the additional pylons are something that many nations, that couldn't get better fighter-bombers, added to their 17s. The Egyptian rockets are also fine given we are getting a Sinai map... Now we only need an early Mirage III for those guns-only six-day war dogfights

  34. MiG-17F Announcement The MiG-17 is a subsonic fighter plane developed by the Soviet Union to improve the high-speed issues the MiG-15 encountered. It became the first Soviet fighter jet to feature an afterburner which greatly improved its performance. The result was one of the most successful transonic fighters ever developed. Ultimately, the MiG-17 was flown by over 30 countries over a timespan of three decades; it was also built under license outside of the USSR in Poland and China. The MiG-17 is most famous for its role in the Vietnam War where it was pressed into dogfights against 3rd generation U.S. fighter planes. Its ambush and tight quarter dogfight tactics were so successful that the U.S., Soviet Union, and European countries were forced to re-evaluate their own aerial combat tactics and rethink future plane developments. By the 1970’s, the U.S. Navy’s Fighter Weapons School (Top Gun) and U.S. Air Forces Weapons School were established to teach pilots new air-to-air combat tactics from lessons learned. The F-16 Viper was a direct result of the lessons learned in Vietnam while fighting the maneuverable MiG-17; it's no coincidence that the F-16 was also the first fighter jet that was able to out-rate the MiG-17. Headed by two pilots, the Red Star Simulations' primary focus from the start was on accurate flight dynamics. Using Soviet wind test tunnel data, performance manuals, U.S. testing results from a captured MiG-17F, and with the aid of several current MiG-17 pilots, the MiG-17F Lim5 module for DCS has been developed with the most realistic simulated flight dynamics ever produced on a MiG-17 plane. Flight dynamics key features - Turn and climb performance, 0 to 40,000+ feet - Dynamic stall and flap performance - Slow-speed/high-AOA drag - High-G drag - Dynamic engine (speed/altitude/thrust) performance Plane key features - ASP-4N gunsight with SRD-1M gun radar - SPO-2 Sirena RWR - SRO-2 Khrom IFF - ARK-5 ADF radio and navigation - Standard and Egyptian upgrade weapons Please follow the news for more information about this fascinating addition to DCS.

  38. A while ago you could place aircraft and objects under things like the VPC shelters then about 6-8 updates ago it stopped working. No idea why but ED never responded to requests to fix it. You could even start a flight from inside a shelter or hangar, which was great. I hoped they would fix whatever it was they changed but gave up checking on it ages ago. The only option is what shagrat suggests, with a bit of fine tuning you can get part of an object inside, but not all of it.

  39. This is not what you want to see when you test the link cable. You should see USB3 and speed above 1.9 gbps. Also when you see these 3 dots, try: disconnect Oculus, power off both PC and oculus and start up again. Sometimes you need to reconnect the Oculus cable on the fly to get rid of this problem. Most times I’ve seen this behavior was when I was switching between different Hz settings (72,80,90) It renders a smaller area on your headset and thus increasing FPS performance. Usually you don’t see the black bars around the image until you hit 0.75 but each individual sees it differently. As with most settings in ODT, you need to put it before you start DCS. To get a feeling what it is just try an extreme figure first like 0.5 (it should look like a tunnel view)

  40. Those mods goes into Saved Games, and should not really interfere with the core installation, (but they might), and they should all reside in individual folders. So when you get errors like that, there's something wrong in the zip regarding where they go. Only time I get those errors, I have made a mistake when packaging a mod, or have copied things manually to the wrong folder. Also a repair won't touch Saved Games, hence not removing any potential manual errors. So, remove all mods through OvGME, and manually empty the Samed Games mods folders. Cheers! 41. Given what happened with the F15, I wouldn't give any indication of a date at all until everyone involved was actually 100% ready. If that's the case it could release in 1 second or 1 year, there is no way for us to tell. The devs will get flack either way but by not saying anything they reduce how hyped up many players get. I think this terrain uses new DCS features so it may be an ED issue holding it up. Who knows. But I'm sure if they actually knew they would say something.

  42. There is a very helpful article from the amazing treasure trove of "The Phantom Phacts". The Phantom Phacts: THE F-4 INBOARD PYLONS If you're interested in pylons, when this or that antenna was installed, or the evolution of dorsal panels in minutiae, it's amazing what you can learn there, even if you've been a phantom phanatic for a couple of decades. This photo shows the Naval (and RF / early C marks) LAU-17/A pylon with the trapezoidal-shaped adaptor underneath. All drawing credits to Kim Simmelink / The Phantom Phacts. For what it's worth, it looks like there's more space "below" the LAU-7 Sidewinder rail when mounted on the AF's MAU-12 pylon compared to the USN's LAU-17/A. This photo is from a JASDF F-4EJ, and they haven't loaded the AIM-9s. These are also Mk82's. But it doesn't appear to me that there's any adaptor between the MAU-12 and the TER. This is the closest I can find to @Aussie_Mantis's search. Photo credits to Kazuteru Sugawara.

  43. To answer SgtPappy's question - not really with the 36/37, that was during RTU at Luke and I think we had SA-2 or 3 simulators, possibly some AAA. Operationally in the E with the later ALR-46 we went against all the usual Red Flag threats so saw plenty of 6s. Also a lot of A-bars when going against the aggressor F-5Es, as they loved using their little radar to try to make us react and let them arc us when we were extending out of a fight - it was their only chance as we could easily outrun them and get out of gun/heater range if we didn't take the bait! If you did turn back thinking the F-5 was close, you were guaranteed to get pipper burns on your helmet when the F-5 arced in for a tracking gun shot.

  45. I just love how they did the textures and surface, it actually looks like real metal plating. Those textures and modeling, combined how they use lighting, are amazing. Looks maybe even better than the F-14, and that thing was already a step ahead of the other DCS planes ive seen. Cant wait to see the cockpit.

  47. C-130s and troop transport helos already provide useful functions in co-op. I am hosting Vietnam/Cold War multiplayer missions right now where the C-130 can drop a complete set of crates for building a forward operating base for the helos or a whole bunch of infantry to help out with CAS. These same missions also permit AC-130 armament/operations. While it works best in a team/co-op environment, there is fun to be had flying a C-130 by yourself against the AI. Single player/co-op missions can easily be scripted where the C-130 is at the heart of mission success and require flying low and/or evasively just like helo transport missions.
