It's because I've been over this several times before. I have no problem if you customize my assets for your own specific use. But I only implement additions that follow my overall design principles. One of my main principles is primarily making AI assets which emulates the real thing as close as possible within DCS limitations. For example, adding player controllable missiles is no issue for me to implement. But it comes with a cost, it would mean that I would have to simplify the asset weapons and radar systems to a point where they become very rudimentary and mostly alike. For example, with these proposed changes the custom radar is disabled and Tor M2M will only have one missile channel, which would defeat one of the main purposes with the upgraded M2M version. And that's a compromise I won't make.9 points

The trim has been set with extensive SME feedback, indeed. He's flown countless case 1s on speed (and much more ofc) - helping us fine tune the trim to the degree it is. The Tomcat has a pitch up tendency during level, cruise flight, hence frequent trimming is required, but when you are slow and set on speed, little trimming should be needed once you are established. Your hardware can affect this ofc, if the buttons are registering input, poorly. That would be noticeable though. My personal experience is that in a stable, level flight with little to no acceleration, trimming it so that one can be hands off for a few seconds is no problem at all. Additionally: you are not supposed to fly with trim, but hands on. Trim really is there to ease off the stick force you need, but keeping it level nicely, say within +/- 5 feet, requires a constant adjustment with stick input plus added trim as needed. On top of that, you have a fighter's AP, which is precisely there to allow for hands-off operation when needed, unlike an Airliner's AP which serves to optimize the flight in various ways a pilot could not really achieve. In other words: engaging ATT HOLD or ALT HOLD in an orbit to prepare your cockpit for xy task, is completely legitimate. What you shouldnt do is fly a case 1 with autopilot ofc, etc. A while ago a user had similar issues and I recorded this video, I hope it helps here, too.7 points

The Sinai Tourist Map Project Tourist Map V3.0 - 20240811 (some 100 new attractions!) The Sinai Map is chock full of beautiful sights (and sites) that I enjoy to explore at leisure. I have put together a map that maps out some of the many attractions that I found and want to see, and this map is exactly that: a map of tourist attractions, things that you, too, may want to see. CONSULT YOUR TOUR GUIDE! There's an interactive tour guide available that you can engage over Communications-->Other. The Tour Guide will list the five closest attractions to your current location (the labelled locations on the F-10 Map view) more importantly, guide you to the closest attraction by constantly giving you bearing, "clock directions" and distance. if you still can't find the attraction (some are difficult to find), the tour guide can even mark the location with blue smoke for you. Use the tour guide to make sure that you don't miss any of the great attractions that the great people over at OnReTech have put into this map. (Remember that attractions that are listed on the map in "Quotes" are at this point in time the real-world location of important land marks that do not (yet) have a representation on this map - but may at a later date.) For those of you who aren't afraid to curtail this mission in Mission Editor: You can easily place and position your favorite aircraft on the map Put them close to an attractions if you don't like the pre-selected slots that I'm providing with this map. Tour Guides won't mind, they work with any player aircraft at any location. You can change also time of day to get some better impressions. Sun up is around 05:50, sundown around 17:50 (5:50pm) Oh, and yes, there's civilian traffic on the Suez Canal, and in the air Change Log V3.0: some 120 new attractions all over the map (my thanks to ORT for providing me with the locations) V2.0: Civilian air traffic Tour Director (yeah) Sinai Tourist uses DML IMPORTANT: If you find an interesting or beautiful detail in this map, please post its location and perhaps name/description below, and I will try to include it into the tourist map as soon as possible. The current map has labels for the attractions that I have found. Some locations are in Quotes ("), like "Massada". This is for locations that I hope to find something there, when the talented people from @OnReTech get around to populate it with the appropriate models. The miz's time of day it 05:50, sunrise. You may want to change that for better local 'atmosphere' for the particular spot that you are interested in. Also, most aircraft across the map are the Gazelle (which since the release of the new flight model that coincided with Sinai's release has become a really nice model). You may want to add your own preferred aircraft close to the sight that you want to visit. Some examples that this map has marked: Some strangely triangular buildings More mirrors than you can shake a brush at: Someone suspiciously looking like Ahsoka playing in the sand at sundown Download: And here's the Tourist Map: (please click here) -- ED's User Files4 points

As @sinnsays. We even have 4 discussions here. 1. Gameplay. Over-G-ing with paddle or in the case of the F14 and F15 by anlogue control input. Disabling the paddle is a too easy thinking, because you just cant disable over-G-ing in traditional aircraft. 2. How realistic is the flight performance while over-G-ing or paddle pulled. There are no EM charts for an F15 at 12 G. So this has to be extrapolated from existing data. 3. F16 performance. That is what the thread title says. Over-G-ing of other aircraft should not be in this discussion. The turn rate of the F16 has been claimed to be correct for quite a while now. Lets assume this. What remains open is energy bleed while turning. People are still suspicious about it because it has been adjusted, and that was not just a little difference in the FM but quite a lot. So its hard for people to believe in that everything is correct now if it was not in the first release versions of the F16. 4. F16 pilot G tolerance, which has not something to do with the F16 flight performance in the first place. But in the second place because the pilots G tolerance does limit what you can get from the DCS F16s flight models performance. The big question is, will it ever be possible to deal with that different topics separately, or will people be mixing them up again and again because all of the 4 topics affect the over all impression you'll get from the DCS F16.4 points

Unlikely, only like half of what you are seeing now, which would be still half of the climb and half of the descent you are chasing atm, because you are defacto abusing trim for something it was not meant for. If you watch the video above, trimming was done intermittently, but the main job is the hand working the stick, constantly. You have a huge body that provides an enormous amount of lift on the tomcat, variable wing sweep, a massive fighter which also provides quite some drag all around, so finding a sweetspot, as you try, is a fallacy in itself. You need to fight for it. And the moment you get complacent and stop, you pay for it dearly. In the beginning, especially when you are used to fbw aircraft or more stable sim modules, or flying with more AP and aircraft that also auto trim, it seems like a giant setback and nuisance. But after a while this will change. Not only will it train your muscle memory to be more fine tuned into flying level hands on (which is the far greater achievement than flying level hands off with aids), it will become more rewarding, flying itself will become a task to master, and once you master it, it will propell your skills in all other aircraft as well. My kind suggestion is: stop chasing the sweetspot that does not exist, start training your fine inputs and muscle memory, and profit long term, embrace it.4 points

In reply to this and the previous quote this was replying to: Not even, what you need to do is to hold your stick and adjust, aka work for it. Trim is not there to achieve a level, pitch up or down attitude, but to ease off stick force. You can fly any attitude in the Tomcat hands on, and because it isn't FBW, it is actually more of a should than can. It is a hands-on aircraft through and through. Which is the beauty about it. Flying precision is demanding, and thus rewarding and fun. And having a RIO is presicely what allows you, the pilot, to fully concentrate on achieving just that.4 points

Here's the thing: they don't. This is not about DLCs, this is about exterior aircraft models that are part of the core. You don't need to buy the MiG-21 to have this 4GB livery. It's not just about storage, too, it's also making inefficient use of memory. For AI, we typically do not need full-res 4K textures, and we certainly do not need a 4K normal map. However, we get stuck with them anyway, and DCS has to load it all into memory if such an aircraft appears in a mission. Regular SSD storage might be cheap compared to DCS modules, but video memory is much less so, and M.2 PCI-E storage that compensates somewhat for DCS' inefficiencies is rather less cheap. It would be much better for the unowned aircraft to come with downsampled liveries, replaced with full res ones when the DLC is bought. It'd also be much better if someone bothered to optimize the damn things. Only diffuse maps need to be full resolution, others that merely modify the surface can very well be at least one quarter the size with no loss of visual quality.4 points

no GPU Currently on the Market even uses 100% of the PCie 4.0 x16 Slot Bandwidth. Why Add development expense to the card, just to add the PCIe5 Interface controller to it, when it offers nothing. The ONLY PCIe5 Devices I've seen are M.2s, and even the performance between them only benefits Sequential Writing, the Random Read/Write is pretty much the same between the two. Honestly, MT Added the Ability to Separate Rendering Thread from the sim thread, So Heavy Sim Thread Load doesnt Kill Rendering thread performance, leading to Low FPS / GPU Usage. The bottleneck now isnt the "GPU", it's the Rendering API (DirectX 11).3 points

Lots of great input here, guys, so thank you for the replies. I've been flight simming for 35 years and I suppose the overwhelming majority of that has been in either FBW or civilian aircraft where you can generally trim things out quite easily and fly hands-off in level flight for more than a few seconds without things getting out of hand. But it makes sense that the Tomcat is simply a different kind of beast and trim doesn't serve the same purpose as in those other aircraft. Luckily the complexity of the flying is one of the things that I love about the F-14 so no problem there! The trim acting this way just didn't seem intuitive to me at first.3 points

Thanks @currenthill - I think you are right to not make that compromise.3 points

Most of the Older Modules assets were integrated before ED Started the "CoreMods" Structure, they are located in /Bazar/World/Shapes (and /Textures). As Older Models are replaced, they are also moved to a CoreMods Module.3 points

Yep, hence I added also in reply to his initial input, or basically underlining again what you said. This is precisely the issue here, that trim is being abused for something it was not meant for, added with having a concept of a "sweetspot" that simply does not exist. A great teacher, I shall also add to all the above, is flying formation. Not even looking at your instruments, but training to stay put next to your lead, picking a reference and holding that reference. The fact that there is no sweetspot will become very clear very quick. You constantly need to fight for position, always. Holding an attitude is the same concept, minus the visual reference you get from your lead aircraft. Hence training muscle memory, fine inputs, "flying ahead of yourself" by expecting the required counter-inputs and the concept of fighting for position works well when training formation, in the beginning best done around larger aircraft, and better even next to a tanker - and one would learn AAR more or less along the way as well.3 points

Sorry but I disagree. I don't know any way to refute the claim that no game can run DLSS in DX11, other than mentioning an example (I purposely didn't name it to avoid breaking any rule). It's Impossible to discuss some things without talking about the world outside of DCS. We will get DLSS at some point probably later this year, before DCS moves gets Vulkan because it can run on DX11.3 points

The HUD night mode is controlled by the little pull handle next to the VDI. Pulling the handle out engages the red filter. However, I have seen an issue where the red filter is on, despite the handle not being pulled out. In those cases, just cycle the handle out and back in and it'll go back to day mode. The VDI doesn't have a switch because night mode was done by sticking a red transparency onto the screen. You can turn the effect on and off by clicking the screen of the VDI itself. The other lighting controls are on the far right panel. You can switch on a red or white flood light in the cockpit, and using the dials you can turn up or down the instrument and panel lights (they are always red).3 points

Well PIO may have been an exaggeration; but my point was I feel like I'm constantly chasing the trim around - I get nearly stable with, say, slight back stick pressure required, so I do a single trim up press. This then eventually puts me into a slight climb, so I try to cancel it out with a single trim down press - but this then puts me into a slight descent, so I try to cancel it out, and on and on and on. It seems like I never get perfectly level without constantly needing to correct. And so yes, I realize this isn't a FBW aircraft, but from experience with other simulated aircraft, I highly suspect that if the trim increment was about half what it currently is, that single trim press would likely get me right where I'd want to be.3 points

Hello everyone! I like Soviet 3rd generation aircraft much more than "computer planes", so the MiG-23MLA impressed me, and I'm waiting for it. But what about the MiG-25? The legendary Soviet interceptor, which was used in 5 big conflicts (Afghanistan, Egypt, Syria, Iraq, the Persian Gulf), was on service in 16 countries. The fastest interceptor, which was designed to intercept strategic bombers, but was also used against conventional jet aircraft. There are 2 versions that I think should be in DCS: MiG-25PD (interceptor) and MiG-25RB (reconnaissance/supersonic bomber). Both options are really cool. I know about the maximum limit of 5G, but this aircraft is not a dogfighter like the Su-27 or even the MiG-21. But it's super fast (M=2.8 also find info about 3400km/h) and can intercept targets at high altitude (maybe even an F-14A flying at 40,000 feet). He doesn't have a lot of amos on his wings, but if you check the information about him on the wiki, you will be surprised by his abilities and invulnerability. Also, I can't tear myself away from not watching photos and videos with this Soviet monster. There are some documentation about it in web. Can be equipped with 4*R-60(R-60M) on 2 outer points+2*R-40/5 tons of bomb. Can track 6 targets at the same time. Also can be used to intercept standard trgts (B-52) on many servers. Please do Foxbat in DCS. It really deserves to be on the Cold War`s front line (and not only).2 points

Yes, but if I share my mission with other people, they would need my modified livery, the one at User Files would not be recognized by the mission as it has a different name, as the mission editor uses the livery name to ID the livery that each unit uses. Yes, you were right .. I renamed the livery and got it right: This is why having two liveries with the same name can get confusing Best regards, Eduardo2 points

That's unfortunate.... However - there is most likely a summer sale around the corner. So advice your friend to be patient and wait for the sale. It won't be exactly 50% on all modules, but at least around 30% (except for the newest/just released) modules. Another advice (that I myself ain't following) - don't get to many modules at once if you want to deep dive into any one of them.....2 points

But to hold a constant climb, you need an attitude hold AP mode. Trim alone can't achieve that. Given a constant thrust, the aircraft will settle to a constant altitude/speed after some oscillation. btw. I think IRL if a Tomcat driver needs hands free to do stuff, he or she would simply flip on AP Altitude hold and wouldn't bother with trimming. I believe AP is much more used IRL than we usually do in the simulation. Simple reason - real missions are longer and it would be very exhausting to fly manually the whole time.2 points

to be honest I'm totally tired of the two weeks games from DCS, It might be the other product's issue, causing a series of delay, but god, how would you feel if you keep hearing two weeks since last year, and you favorite aircraft keep staying stealth dispite all the video and propaganda keep showing it.2 points

I go to thinking about the original question as opposed to picking on a ship Seaeagle really likes, which was probably unnecessary, and got to wondering how much we really know about carrier operations on 'red' ships. Sure, there are some Youtube videos out there from the Kuz, and we can make a few WAGs (no not that one, Wild ...Aviation Guesses) about comms and procedures, but is it really possible to replicate the SC functionality without making that stuff up or just copying what we have on SC? For SC we've got NATOPS and people who have been there and done that from both pilot and deck crew perspectives. I imagine that depth of knowledge is lacking for the Kuz. It would be way cool to have it, just not sure it's available. And the cold hard reality is RedFor is woefully under-represented here. Some of those reasons have been mentioned, maybe there are more, but ultimately that's a business decision.2 points

Hi, 02 more remarks after some flight hours on the map. Build-Up areas All the build-up areas are really nice (Port Saïd is just wouawwwww) but there is no suburbs, it's generally large buildings and then it stops on the limit and you are immediately in sandy or wooded areas and/or gardens...It could be interesting to add some suburbs with small houses along the main cities. Currently cities looks like Manhattan! Helipad The helipads are of course useful for those who fly helicopters on the map. No interest for planes. Adding this type of installation to the F10 card is a real innovation. So if it's a bonus for those who fly helicopters (at low altitude), it would be interesting to make these areas more realistic. We could add buildings, static objects such as fire extinguishers, crates, GPUs and tanker trucks,.... In short, we could make these places even more interesting... while adding different types of helipad (varying from the current ones, which are virtually identical throughout the map).2 points

There are a lot of plans for Sinai, I'm certainly glad that it is already in EA, but there are still phases of the project that are in the works and will be done in the future. The new map is cool, but still we need to complete what we have planned! I am very glad that Sinai came out in the form in which it is, because it is very important for me to collect user reviews. It was also important to work with the ED team. These guys are professionals! I really love the map of the Persian Gulf, 2 countries separated by a strait it makes some sense to have a red and a blue side. In the future, having dynamic companies will be very popular. And I choose a new map, I proceeded from this principle, but this is my opinion2 points

That was an older poorly worded comment the module is finishing up testing, and when ready it will release. This doesn't mean there is an issue with the module, as stated before it's going through normal release steps. We wanted to respond about this false assumption that the Sinai map had any impact on the F-15E release. The F-15E release gating item is based on testing, bug fixing, and providing content. Locking this thread now, thanks.2 points
