I've been a Member of the DCS World Community since it was released. There is absolutely no question that CH, has brought so much life into DCE World! I truly enjoy the assets he has created. I'm also very grateful that the DCS Community is enjoying CH's many assets! We all need to help support CH by donating some cash, I say this because the 3D Models are definitely not cheap! So let me thank you once again CH for all your hard work! Timex 35 points

Thanks! The blade bend is animated, during testing I noticed I had mistakenly switched the -100 and +100 so the blades would defy gravity.5 points

HS.125 --- in my own modeling / modding plan, 1 year to publish HS.748 and 780 --- wondering try or not (making their native 3d models ? or making CV-240 model + painting fake liveries looking like HS.748 ? similar style X size each other) Beechcraft King Air --- in my own modeling / modding plan, 2 or 3 years to publish4 points

This occurs due to “Mach Lever Shift” of the Mach Lever System. Mach lever shift increases engine idle speed in the subsonic and high AOA regime to provide increased stall margins. Below 0.9 IMN, if AOA is increased to 18 units or more, the CADC input to the Mach lever trim system is replaced by a fixed value equivalent to 1.3 IMN, which spools up the engine automatically, regardless of throttle lever position. It’s modeled correctly.4 points

Here's a very quick test version with updated Moose. I haven't tested it more than confirmed that the score starts tracking and I don't get any weird warnings in the log. Please test it if you have the time, and let me know if anything seems off. @zildac @captain_dalan @japagi @speed-of-heat @Richard Lim @Cobalt135 @Mad_Taz @Iriya @Cepheus76 @marcoy Thanks a lot for the reports. Yes, they can. Google slip rings. Here's my prototype: (it doesn't turn infinitely in this clip but it can. That's just a demo Arduino sketch, swinging both axes back and forth a certain amount)3 points

Key there being "you thought". Perhaps the developers know more than you do. Also the devs have posted the CURRENT missiles list and have stated (as should be obvious since we can't fly it yet) that it is still work in progress and subject to change. In any event, the F-4E we are getting was always an upgraded version as we are getting post 1974 upgrades for a 1960's aircraft. Leading edge slats, digital RWR, etc. are all upgrades done to the F-4E over the course of its service life and not all export variants even got stuff like the slats. I don't know where you think you can get off calling it "not original" when we weren't ever getting the original version with the hard wing and strobe RWR that flew over Vietnam in the late 60's anyways.3 points

Unlike the F-14 variants, there is enough of a difference between the F-4E and the J/S to warrant an entirely new module, and according to the FAQ it will be a completely separate module from the F-4E. Release dates are tricky as we have seen, what we do know is that work on the Navy version has not started yet. HB had said work would start after the F-4E is complete, however we do not know what their planned release looks like compared to the other modules in their pipeline.3 points

They said Winter. Now, many people forget winter doesn't start until Dec 21st and lasts until March 21st.3 points

Here's a bug in the CAT I limiter: By just performing a max effort pull to the AOA limit and reducing the throttle to IDLE, the aircraft developed an aggravating pitch oscillation by itself and eventually overshot the AOA limit and resulted in a deep stall. This dangerous behavior is not listed in the dash-1 manual. Viper AOA oscillation.trk2 points

I see that @jackd has just posted some Ju-88 skins (very nice BTW). I thought it might be best to have a simple, easily searchable, thread for any Ju-88 skins. Here is the link for @Warlord64's template: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3313581/ Here are Skins: @jackd skins: Ju88a Standard German liveries https://www.mediafire.com/file/9h38cwui4t36ji9/Junkers_88a4_JJ.zip/file @Warlord64: Ju 88 F6+DN of 5.(F)/122 Winter,Eastern Front 1942. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3324843/ Ju 88A14 Skinpack of Stab II.NAG1 Romania 1944. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3313550/ Ju88-A4 9K+FR of KG51 Zaporozhye, Ukraine May 1942 https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3313258/ I'm not aware of any others. If you have some or are aware of some, please post here. Here are my two latest with photos (they were just submitted so I don't have links yet.) Edit: Links added Junkers Ju 88A4 of 4.KG54, B3+AM Catania, Sicily 1943. I cheated somewhat and used the default Ju 88 skin for the weaving paint on the undersides. This aircraft actually had more uniform "squiggles" but I just didn't want to spend the time on an AI only skin. KG 54 'Totenkopf', the 'Dead's head' was based in Bergamp, Italy in September 1943. The unit operated over the Sicily/Salerno beachheads. The painted green and white stripes over the original Mediterranean two-tone camouflage on the upper surfaces gives very specific appearance [easy ident over beachhead]. This painting scheme was named 'Wellenmuster'. Link: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3334469/2 points

Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends, Our Autumn Sale is still ongoing and now also on Steam. Don’t miss this opportunity to take advantage of up to 50% discount on our most important modules. We continue to work on Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR) texturing of the ships and ground forces in DCS. We are also working on more realistic thermal signatures for the deck crew on board DCS: Supercarrier. Please read the details below. The Tempest multiplayer server is running their Blue Flash V3 campaign, and we encourage you to go and check them out. They offer both fixed and rotary-wing action on a variety of missions that involve team coordination to attack and defend front lines, strategic locations, and high-value assets. The Q&A will be coming soon. The sheer volume of data and information has made this task more challenging than expected but the feedback has been wonderful. Many thanks for all your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/newsletters/0c5457dd41f3b328cc19a7ca41e72467/2 points

By referencing a publicly available FLCS flashcard (https://quizlet.com/309832047/flcs-flash-cards/), the yaw rate limiter is activated when AOA > 35° until AOA is reduced below 32°. A similar description can be found in the dash-1 manual (which is not quoted here), but I'm not seeing this behavior in DCS F-16. In the two tracks below, the activation AOA is 29° as indicated by the suddenly reducing aileron deflection upon crossing 29° AOA. This is an incorrect value by the F-16 version we had. Seems like deleting my Saved Games\DCS.openbeta folder has worked. Steps I took: Backed up the whole folder by renaming it DCS.openbeta_old Launched a full DCS repair Launched DCS and exited Copied back the following folders from the backed up folder Config\Input Config\MonitorSetup Config\options.lua Config\SRSConfig.lua (since I use SRS) Launched DCS, my settings were back and the ASL was behaving correctly2 points

To be honest. I doubt that. In 2.5 you didn‘t have half of what we have today…. no Marianas, no Apache, no clouds etc. When you fly in a 2.5 Module on a 2.5 Map without clouds. Let‘s say in an F-5 or an F-86 in Caucasus, I‘ll bet you get the same or better performance. Just don’t forget to turn off all the pretty eye-candy that didn’t exist back then. Edit: Also, memories are rose tainted. Did you make a reproducible benchmark back then?2 points

You want to create/manage a repository, or be "client" of existing repositories ? OvGME repositories are not compatibles with Open Mod Man... If what you want is to create/manage a repository, you have to look at the Repository Editor: Tools > Repository Editor. The mains steps are the following: Create a Repository XML file using Repository Editor Upload the file to your web server so it can be available via HTTP or HTTPS Provide URL/Name couple to your "clients", suppose XML file is available at http://example.com/default.xml, this give base address "http://example.com" and name "default" The "Default Download Path" is the default location where OMM will seek for files to download, it is relative to where the repository XML file will be available (from internet). In our example, if you left the default Download Path to "files/" the downloadable mods should be avaiable in http://example.com/files/ I plane to work on the Repository Editor to make it a bit more intuitive and give more instructions to user, I also admit the very domagable lack of documentation.2 points

Except they aren't, original F-4E had no slats, nor the later RWR. In any case however, what we are getting is going to be two F-4E variants (as you probably know well, a letter does not denote a clear-cut variant in fighters, and the have various blocks and updates over time to significantly change what the aircraft is). First one is from 1974ish, but also with the possibility to add later weapons that were compatible without much in the way of changing the aircraft. This is basically the "definitive F-4E" that can roleplay both earlier Vietnam F-4Es to some degree, but also fit with international F-4E service very well from 70s all the way up to 90s. It will also probably be the variant to see most often on usual Cold War servers. This variant is known in short as "DSCG". Second variant to come later in development is F-4E "DMAS", roughly a very late 70s to 80s upgrade, operated mainly by USAF, but also exported in small numbers. This was mainly an upgrade for strike role, with a better navigation system, digital bombing computer with CCIP mode, a better (and also a lot heavier/draggier) targeting pod etc. So, air to air missiles it looks like we'll have avaiable in both variants: - AIM-9 Sidewinder family including B,J,P rear aspect variants, as well as P-3,P-5,L,M all aspect variants. I'd expect Cold War servers probably not including L and M, maybe not even P-5. - AIM-7 Sparrow family including E,E-2,F, and looks like M. Likewise, servers will probably allow up to F, but we'll see. Manuals from up to early 80s speak of AIM-7F at the latest as far as I recall, but looks like M will be possible as an option too. As for the air to ground, for DSCG: - AGM-65 Mavericks, I think up to D or G, not sure, and I don't remember Heatblur clarifying possible Maverick versions yet. It is possible to carry up to 6 of them, and it is also possible to still carry 4 sidewinders over the Mavericks, tho weight and drag wise it wouldn't be "fun" experience. - AGM-45 Shrike anti radar missiles. Cool to have some SEAD capability. But the missiles are truely quite garbage :)) Up to 4 can be carried, and to be honest, if you want to even hope to hit anything, you better have 4 - All sorts of iron bombs and cluster bombs, I think it is possible to have up to 20 Mk-82s on. There is some computed bombing capability, but more akin to that on A-4E. - GBU-8 TV guided large warhead bombs, maybe GBU-15 too, which has an extended range over the 8, as well as a less horrible sensor. Some suggest AGM-62 may also be a possibility, normally a Navy/Marines weapon, but during Vietnam War some Air Force birds did use it from a shared base afaik. No "man in the loop" capability with any though. That is later during mid 80s for the DMAS version with a datalink pod. - Lots of rockets of either FFAR/Hyrda variety or I think Zunis are an option too despite also normally being a Navy weapon. - Heatblur didn't show anything of sort, but I think submunition dispensers similar to Soviet/Russian KMGU could also be a possibility. You can see CBU-2s on A-4E, if we get some it'd possibly be those. - Laser guided bombs from Paveway family. - Pave Spike day-only targeting pod with no auto tracking and limited cueing options for self lasing with LGBs. DMAS will add: - GBU-15 for certain, along with its datalink pod for controlling the bomb post-drop - Pave Tack targeting pod which is FLIR, so night usage is also possilbe along with much easier spotting of targets. It has some automatic tracking features and better optical capabilities too. It is however, HUGE and heavy, and uses the centerline pylon. Unlike earlier Phantom, DMAS can't use smaller and lighter Pave Spike that went on forward Sparrow pylon anymore.2 points

I assume this is meant as sarcasm.. Because if you feel "poor" while owning an i9-9900k and rtx3090, you don't know what "poor" is.. Anyways, to put this thread in perspective for potential new DCS players: I still enjoy DCS in VR every session on my ~5 year old low end pc. All just a matter of managing your expectations. There really is no need to update your pc each year, as long as you accept you can't run everything on medium or high settings.2 points

To all with interest in these warbird add ons, I have been slowly going through each in turn, fixing, adding, changing and creating dedicated collision models. Animations ate also being looked at and changed/fixed as needed. December 6th is coming. I plan a release to commemorate this day in history, and the events leading up to it. A new thread will be created for this special add on. Watch for it! Stay safe, Keep your ammo boxes full!2 points

5800X3D or 5700X3D, 5600X3D was a microcenter exclusive, but in reviews was already bottlenecking due to less cores and lower TDP. the 7K Series, don't go higher than the 7800X3D, because then you'll have two CCD's one w/ VCACHE, one without, and you;ll have to disable the 2nd CCX to keep the Vchache cores from dumping work to the other CCX.2 points

For me, it's just weird that the AIM-120 kinetically outperforms the Phoenix in every aspect, yet it is classified as a medium range missile. If you try launching the Aim-120 from 45000 feet, at a speed of M1.1, and at a target 60 nautical miles away, Aim-120 will have more energy than the Aim-54 in the final stage.2 points

^^^^This is the way. Find the attitude plus power for the landing configuration for level, the 180 to 90 turn, and final. Then it is a matter of constant adjustments around this values. It’s supposed to be difficult. If I haven’t flown in awhile, it will take at least 5-10 passes to recalibrate the required inputs and corrections. Before attempting a new carrier session, I always begin by practicing level turns, the break maneuver and extended pattern maneuvering until I can consistently make the aircraft do what it needs to do.2 points

I guess “do both” but separately…? A campaign could have an initial bombardment of beach defences, Caen, Cherbourg and some of the Wehrmacht logistics hubs - all in Normandy… … followed by / interspersed with Op Crossbow raids on the V-weapons sites on Channel map If the TIs arrive in time we would need to strap them on the P-51D (RAF Mustang III) to try some low-level target marking…1 point
