In all honesty, I'm getting a bit tired of your commentary. You are free to use my assets, as everybody else. You are also free to not use my assets, actually I would recommend you to stay away from them if they make you sad. My Ka-52 is per default not conflicting with any core units. But as I described in my post and the included readme, I've included an easter egg for the tech savvy who wants to experience the added animations, as an interim solution. I also clearly state that it will replace the Ka-50 BS (and not the BS3). This feature isn't available for the 52K either, so if you're tinkering with my configurations on your own, that's up to you.7 points

LOL I got to know Mr Urbi from my association with the VSN team. @Oban is correct in that he comes off as rude. But I do not think he means any harm or offense, He wants the mods to be as perfect as possible, within the constrains we are give in the sim. He does do Very good texture work! I do not take offense. Life is too short for that. He means well. But his bedside manner would make me want to die rather that be treated by him! @Urbi No offense meant! I do not even block his messages. I try to pick his brain to learn. We all have some talent to share. so take no offense, He is who he is. He called me stubborn! The pot calling the kettle black! That is all. Now back to the Currenthill masterworks! Lets not foul up his thread. Cheers!6 points

Hello everyone. Type 23 frigate HMS Richmond F239 has been released for download. HMS Richmond is a Type 23 frigate of the Royal Navy. She was launched on 6 April 1993 by Lady Hill-Norton, wife of the late Admiral of the Fleet The Lord Hill-Norton, and was the last warship to be built by Swan Hunter Shipbuilders. She sailed from the builders on the River Tyne in November 1994. She is named for the Dukedom of Richmond. I forgot to add the HMS Richmond has a damage model as well. If you have any major technical issues PLEASE PM me. Thank you all for your patience. Enjoy!6 points

Well, I'm not going to dwell on the subject. But it's important for anyone else reading this to get correct facts: My Ka-52 is per default not conflicting with any core units, it takes active tinkering with the configuration files to use the second version. Someone just downloading and installing the asset will never need to know about the second version, I can't really explain it any clearer than that. The reason I included the second version is the same as the reasoning behind all of my assets. I make them for myself, for my own amusement. And then I release them for anyone else to use them, if they're interested. Finally, let me give you an example why I included the second version: the difference between the trainable and non-trainable Ka-52 2A42 cannon is about 3 km.6 points

VERSION 7.3.0 You can now download version 7.3.0 in the Original Post! Fixing what's broken! Due to some DCS scripting changes, all missions using Moose stopped working a while back. The guys over at Moose were quick to find the problems and publish a new version. Thanks to them, and thanks to you who helped out testing the little test mission I posted in the thread, we are now back on track. Thank you so much! Happy landings! Have a nice holiday later this month! //Bankler CHANGE LOG 7.3.0 * Updated Moose, in order to get the mission working again after ED's scripting changes. * Changed overhead tanker TACAN band to Y. Hello all, new update for the program, this time to add features for VR users in particular. Warning: If you are updating from an older version, remove all traces of TheWay, including TheWay.lua file and the Export.lua line, and then follow the new install instructions in the README This release adds heavily demanded features to aid VR players, such as: New crosshair system that will show in VR as well (no need for other mods to achieve this functionality, like Scratchpad) The new crosshair also works well with multiple monitor setups Added ability to customize keybinds to perform different actions (such as toggling crosshair, saving points etc). Open the settings to assign them. Ability to input a waypoint file without DCS open Added C130 Hercules support thanks to @Summit60 . Make sure to install the Patch for the C130, linked here. You can find the release link here. Make sure you follow the new install instructions! The old Lua files you may have installed will not work anymore! Hello, I'd suggest trying out the newest version, remove all traces of TheWay including the lua files and follow the new install instructions4 points

It's not. How the planes were developed doesn't matter. What we're discussing is how they differ in DCS. From a player perspective you can argue that the Hornet and Viper do the same thing. If the argument is that the E makes the C redundant, the other two modules are in a pretty similar position. One is a bit faster, one carries a slightly wider array of weapons, they have different cockpits, but if you wanted to you could do the same missions in both for the most part. That statement applies to both sets of planes. The Eagles differ not just in the merge but also in BVR where the C is superior at maneuvering at altitude, just like the F-16 enjoys vastly better acceleration over the Hornet. The two planes feel different despite overlapping in capability.4 points

This is the Eagle thread, but I need to be fair to the Phantom, it wasn't that bad. The real issue it suffered from was the lack of proper pilot training. When that was sorted it out, it really showed it potential. The Phantom gets an unfortunate reputation but it really was a trailblazer and set the stage for later planes like the Eagle. The C and E are both F-15's, but they are fairly different from each other, enough to consider them different planes in my opinion. Rather than F-4C to F-4E the difference is more akin to F-16 vs F/A-18. Those two on a superficial level overlap quite heavily, but the details differ. The fact that on paper the Hornet can do everything the F-16 can plus use a carrier and Harpoons didn't stop the F-16 from being developed, or from DCS players purchasing both. I'm not surprised at all, because the "little" differences matter. I suppose you can say that there is a trend but it's hardly binding. Heatblur went out of their way to model the F-14 partially because it's engines were terrible. That's part of the plane's appeal. Also with the E and C being distanced from each other more than something like the Tomcat, I'm not sure that the definitive model trend applies here. The E isn't an upgraded C. It's a repurposed one. It's not better, it's different.4 points

I have deleted several textures from zip archive that cause problems in 2.9 and there also some changes with shapes as I could remember now, it took some time to figure out where is the problem and solve them. Purpose of my actions - it's to save your time and offer "ready to go" solution instead of posting the instruction what you need to delete, remove, rename, copy/paste and add.4 points

Personally, I don't follow the argument that more capabilites make a module more attractive. Why do you think the Cold War era has so many fans? If you want a Link 16 connected and AIM-9x firing fighter then pick the F-16 or F-18. To me at least an early F-15A/C would depict that fighter in the era it was most relevant. It would be the first single seated air superiority fighter of the Cold War era in DCS. With all those modern gizmos it would not fit into that context anymore. And yes, I really think that this would sell! The ideal way certainly would be different versions like the F-14.4 points

Good Afternoon everyone. I have finished creating the HMS Richmond AI 3D Model ship for DCS. I would like to thank all who contributed to the creation of the model. CH, Eddie, Toan, Marroux, Citizen, and CrazyEddie. Thank you all for your assistance in creating the HMS Richmond 3d model. The HMS Richmond 3d model was created for printing I think but I made due with what I have. I couldn't find a better-detailed model of the ship online. I am preparing her for release as I write this message. We try as 3d modelers our best to create 3d model AI ships to function as close as we can to the real ship. However, the DCS game engine doesn't always do what we want it to do. Also, we can not please everyone and I will not try to. That is impossible. If you have some input that can make the AI Ship mods better PLEASE PM ME and share your thoughts. Below are some snapshots of the HMS Richmond along with 3 UK Liveries and 3 Chile Liveries. I will give more details of the model once I release her. Thank you all for your patience and understanding. Stay Tuned!4 points

LOL literally no one cares. The DCS MP, "need muh bestest jet or uber missile" mindset sucks frankly. The phoenix has been and continues to improve and be more realistic, which is what matters. And frankly the Cat is quite dangerous on most period apropos 70s/80's servers if its flown by a competent pilot at least. But you are right the days of the "I win button" are over and that probably makes some people sad. The easy "I win button" got taken away. Some people can't cope with that.3 points
-
The F-15 isn't 5th gen, so it's not really a one to one comparison. In the situations where the Eagle is fighting, the performance absolutely matters in BVR. And in DCS you're not limited to fighting Flankers, although even in that case you still want all the speed and agility that you can get. BVR isn't just two fighters meeting face to face in a fair encounter. It gets a lot more complicated.3 points

Yep, I agree on the distribution/update issue. It's very inefficient at the moment. And I understand the hassle of keeping up with all my updates. But I really don't have much of a choice at the moment. The best solution for users would of course be to have them incorporated into core DCS. But since that's not possible at the moment, I've been thinking about different solutions. I've been offered solutions like the one you suggest. I haven't made up my mind yet, but I need to make some changes, that's for sure. I have described my process in my FAQ: https://www.currenthill.com/faq Yep, that looks much better. I will look into it. Correct, and I actually knew that. But sometimes in the videos, where everything is happening in real time, I forget. Yeah, but it's not very good looking, haha. I would be interested in making a newer Mi-28 version, but it won't happen until we have support for trainable cannons. Which is especially important for the Mi-28, where it's more or less the center piece. I haven't done anything to the mesh or textures for my updated Burke and Tico. My plan has been to replace the models to make them more accurate, like removal of the forward Phalanx etc. I agree.3 points

Actually it has been and still is, but that's more because of "meh good enough" and lack of proper alternative. The Strike Eagle has flown CAP missions over Iraq and recently also over the Baltic.3 points

and it's not that great compared to what CH can make, it's a very basic model, I think the Mi28 N variants would be welcome There's also M1A1's and T90's in the game, but CH made his versions better. CH takes addons for DCS to a whole new level3 points

The Eagle is legendary, that question is the same as asking if the Phantom or Tomcat will sell. Granted I'm just a forum goer like everyone else here, but chances are yes it would. It has the AA advantage over the E, it has multirole capability so it has appeal to those wanting to perform more than just air combat, it's simpler than the E which is a valid point because there is a demand for less complex/less cutting edge aircraft (F-5, F-4, F-14, A versions of F-18 and F-16, and different versions of the Phantom which is not even released yet), historically it fits in situations which the E does not, then of course there is also "cool factor" preference, what ever you want to call it, for some it's just more desirable because it is. Yes. This really needs to happen more. It worked for the Tomcat, L-39, Fw-190, F-4. If you stretch the same has happened with the A-10 and Ka-50. And people want it for a bunch of other aircraft.3 points
-
Indeed, that’s probably where the future of DCS lies, especially given the amount of people who look at DCS as a “virtual museum”. I think it’s a lot more interesting to be able to follow a particular aircraft through its service life from IOC-ish to retirement3 points
-
The answer is: it depends. The Tigers in my country, depending on the airfield, drop their chutes on the runway. There is someone of the ground crew at a specific location next to the runway, and when the aircraft drives past that location, they drop their chutes on the runway and them some guy comes running and collects the chute. On a different airfield they drop it when exiting the runway. So, it depends on the country and their operational procedures.3 points
-
Ok so the "cookbook" says that the chute on the 29 should be jettisoned after leaving the runway and in a "specific place". Now I have no idea what is meant by "specific place", but I guess in DCS it could be the taxiway. Real fields probably have designated areas where it's safe to discard the chute, but this is pure speculation on my side. On thing is sure though: NOT on the runway!3 points

Thanks for the info @_BringTheReign_ and @Stackup. I was under the impression that the Navy Phantom was next in line. Too bad, I mean I am happy they went with the E first, but I do want a navy phantom too… in less than a decade away. Unfortunately I have 0 interested in the Eurofighter. The A-6 may be something to wait for.3 points

To be honest he's a very good texture artist, and has produced some very good realistic textures for the VSN F4 B/C, as well as some for Hawkeye's old Ka-52 alligator addon. That being said, he's incredibly rude, and has a very condescending manner when having dialogue with other modders especially novice creators, this leads me to believe English isn't his native language, constructive criticism is always welcome, rudeness and arrogance has no place in the forums3 points
-
I'd bet it's way more than that. Ironmike said the current release order is F-4E, Eurofighter, and then A-6. They don't even have a plan for where the naval F-4 fits into that yet. At the risk of turning the forums into a Discord screenshot repository, here's the latest from Cobra - no Navy F-4 for a long, long time3 points

Munich, 29 November 2023 – Now it's official: The Eurofighter EK (Electronic Combat) is coming. Following the recent parliamentary approval by the German budget committee, Airbus will equip 15 German Eurofighters for electronic combat - and equip them with a transmitter location and self-protection system from Saab, as well as "AARGM" anti-radar missiles from the American company Northrop Grumman. The Eurofighter EK is to be NATO-certified by 2030 and will then replace the Tornado in the SEAD (Suppression of Enemy Air Defence) role. "Electronic warfare and reconnaissance are an important NATO requirement: current conflicts and the present security situation show how important the two capabilities are," says Airbus Defence and Space CEO Michael Schöllhorn. "In this respect, the German government's decision to include such an important capability as electronic warfare in the Eurofighter capability portfolio is an important measure. EK will add this important capability to the already broad operational spectrum of the Eurofighter while strengthening European sovereignty and autonomy." With the parliamentary approval by the Budget Committee, the Eurofighter is now officially set as the successor to the Tornado ECR (Electronic Combat/Reconnaissance). Airbus is now looking forward to the official order to integrate the selected technical solutions into the Eurofighter. The corresponding contract between Eurofighter GmbH, as prime contractor, and NETMA (NATO Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency) is expected to be signed before the end of the year. With Saab’s transmitter location system and the Anti-Radiation Guided Missile (AARGM) from Northrop Grumman, the Eurofighter EK will be able to detect, localise and disable anti-aircraft radars. In addition, the Saab solution has jammers that improve the Eurofighter's self-protection. The Eurofighter EK also has technologies on board that were developed by small and medium-sized enterprises and a start-up. These include an AI solution that makes it possible to analyse radar data on-board and quickly determine precise self-protection measures. Airbus is currently working with the BAAINBw procurement office, the German Air Force and the Bundeswehr Aviation Office on a detailed schedule for the implementation of the selected EK solutions in 15 Eurofighters. With any aircraft we consider developing we have to think about return of investment and for some airframes it would be difficult to meet that return.3 points

So we're getting the C130, and the C47 is basically the old school C130. In a ww2 environment it can drop cargo, troops etc would do the same in a dynamic campaign ww2 environment as the C130 will do in a modern one. But it can be used for more. ED has confirmed a vientam map some time in the distant future. Here the C47 could be used for clandestine work(air America) dropping special forces etc. And of course you should have the ability to turn in into a spooky. It can be used for many other things. On many other maps too.2 points

It's called "control zone" for a reason. Assuming the pursuing aircraft doesn't make a mistake (not controlling closure e.g.), the only way to shake someone on your six is to outturn it, when it is guns only and your aircraft has the superior turnrate. (or maybe outclimb/outrun with superior thrust - but that is all very dangerous) However. No (real) person is immune to error and you can of course try to force your pursuer into a mistake.2 points
-
True. I should phrase it better. TAA and DLAA do not lower the resolution. but they create a blur effect as well. TAA samples 2 or multiple frames, previous framedata blend into the current one will create a blurring effect too. DLAA also creates motion-blur-like effects. especially on texts2 points

You may be CPU bound, I have a 10700, 32gb, rtx4070ti 2tb SD and the 2.9 release was game changing for me in VR, everything was clearer in the cockpit, I settled on .5 on sharpening everything turned to max except shadows. solid 72fps in marianas when I was getting 20-30 I hope you work out whatever your issue is. 2.9 MT is awesome for me in VR2 points

That's a nice light and it's not too bright. Can you send a link to the Massun 92 Asset Pack Rudel? I can add an Omni light of any color over the flight deck but it will always be on.
