  3. Hey Gogi12, the Horizon class mods were created a few years ago and worked in DCS but I think they have stopped working. Hey DJOGOO77, You're welcome. I knew nothing about that class until you brought it up. I don't see a 3D model of that class of ship maybe because the ship is fairly new. I was considering creating the Giuseppe Garibaldi. Not sure about it yet. I need to see how the ITS Cavour creation works out. Hello everyone, sorry I have been absent. I've had appointments all week. I haven't had time to work on any models. I will get back to it when I can.

  4. Pt2 of a small colelction of liveries for other peoles Mods - due to the large size I had to reduce this by removing some of the F4B liveries. As before I have identified the Mod you need in order to instal these liveries. Where a livery is identified as a Static that means I have folded wings or opend hatches etc as if it were parked up. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/qbp0y2dch0tng2fw765o0/CrazyEddies-Misc-Liveries-Pt2.zip?rlkey=qr1dqxgrxg4hv7sw3zh93yxsz&st=at1tesvk&dl=0

  9. I really like this mod and use it a great deal. Thanks for creating it, Bandit. One suggestion I have is for more rain presets without overcast. As it is, any weather preset with overcast prevents AI aircraft from effectively performing search and engage tasks. This means if you are playing a dynamic campaign mission with AI flights performing CAS or Armed Recon, you are effectively restricted to using Light Rain 1 (which is a DCS preset), or Scattered Showers 1, 2, 3, and 5 (I think those are the only ones in the mod without overcast) if you want rainy weather. It would be great if this mod could add some more rain presets with a greater variety in rain intensity without including overcast, as this would expand the number of rain presets that can be used with AI aircraft.

  10. @GazAce with all due respect you need to calm down, no one said the mission editor will be replaced, this change will make our current fast mission generator even better. Please no profanity here, and lets not call people names when they reply to you, your initial tone was alarmist and it only breads similar responses. thank you

  14. It's hardly our fault that some people do not know what the world 'simulator' really means -- I love to show them the 'flat earth simulator' to make that point. And when people go the 'it's not a game, it's a simulator route,' we can show this. Hasn't helped for years, won't help in the future. Hopefully we get an API for refueling so we can put this tired thread (to which I'm contributing, so I'm part of the problem, I know) to rest.

  20. Nobody attacked you. We were just a little baffled by this concern (which came a bit out of left field honestly) and gave reasons why this is very unlikely to say the least. Neither long or short term. DCS is a sandbox kind of game (for better or worse), the ME is pretty much its life support. Sure, ED may one day change their course, but currently I don’t see any signs of that at all.

  23. Video 12/09/2024 = Talking a little about the project. Hello community, I present to you the first test of the UH-1H Huey cockpit. In this particular case, it is for you to observe and help me correct proportions and general shapes. Much of the work is based on photographs, and while I try to be as precise as possible, perhaps someone with real experience with the aircraft might notice things that need correction. Don't expect anything usable, just a white structure of the larger components of the cockpit. In the file, you will find a .jpg image with the steps to follow for installation (it may break the integrity check, meaning multiplayer mode might not work). Please remember to back up your files, and I am not responsible if you need to clean up the installation after use. You can leave comments here on the forum (but please quote me so that I get notifications). Thank you very much for your time. Best regards! ###################################################################################################### Hello community! Today, I want to introduce you to a project I started a few days ago. I'd love to hear your opinions and perspectives on it. About the Project: The main idea of the project is to update our beloved but somewhat outdated UH-1H Huey. As a 3D artist, my primary focus will be on updating the module's graphical aspects with new 3D models and textures (we’ll discuss the scope of these changes and their implications later). However, I don't rule out the possibility that, with the community's help, the changes could be more comprehensive. Considering that the Huey's flight model is excellent, and its systems are quite complete, any improvements beyond aesthetics would likely involve adding new weapons or features. Images (WIP): Progress So Far: Currently, I have partially modeled the Huey's cockpit. There’s still a lot of work to be done, but so far, I think it's looking pretty good. I've attached images of the work in progress. I managed to run some tests in the simulator with the new cockpit added to the old model, and it looks quite promising. I still need to figure out how to make the file changes through the "saved games" folder to avoid breaking the Integrity Check (IC), which I currently have no idea how to do. If anyone is willing to help in this area, your contribution would be more than welcome. -- We need to replace the file located at: "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\Uh-1H\Cockpit\Shape" named "Cockpit_UH-1H.edm" with a new file of the same name placed in the "saved games" folder. Project Scope: Regarding the project's scope, I envision several possible options. Over the past few days, I've conducted a series of surveys to gauge the community's reaction to the project. For now, the goal is the following: A completely free mod for the community that updates the cockpit with new 3D models, textures, and animations. There would be no new functionalities. We would need to find a way to include it as a mod that doesn’t break the Integrity Check. If that’s not possible, based on the survey responses, there would be little community interest in the mod (and therefore, not much reason to continue its development). For those who have installed the mod, the helicopter will function as usual, but with a significantly enhanced level of detail in the cockpit. For the moment, both the exterior model and the interior cargo area of the helicopter would remain as they are currently. Improves on those parts would cost lots of time for a free proyect. The Reason for the Project: Essentially, I usually do things out of pure enjoyment or whim. The Huey is one of my favorite modules; it’s easy to use, fun to fly, not too complex, yet you can spend quite a bit of time mastering it. Despite this, its graphics, especially the interior, are quite outdated. Therefore, a few months ago, I started thinking about updating its textures to the PBR format. This led to multiple challenges due to the way its UVs were created, preventing the proper use of an AO pass. So, I decided to start modeling the interior in 3D from scratch. Estimated Timeframe: There’s no ETA; this is a project I’ll be working on in my spare time. Other Possible Versions: For now, I would focus on the version we currently have. I’d love to be able to choose whether to add or remove the radar altimeter and the flare dispenser at will, to make it closer to versions used in earlier periods of the Huey’s history. I’d also love to add the option for side-mounted M60s without the external hardpoints, as used by Hueys in Vietnam. If I were to develop other versions, I would be interested in a "C" version with various weapon systems used during Vietnam. I’m not a big fan of glass cockpits, so I’m not interested in modeling more modern versions of the Huey. However, these ideas are more like "dreams" rather than concrete goals, and they would largely depend on community support (since beyond 3D art, aspects that require programming are not my strong suit). Conclusion: For now, this is all. I hope the project interests you, and that together we can build this improvement. I look forward to your feedback! Best regards!

  24. Admiral and I had a go at creating an AI Only version of the Merlin Helicopter, just for the fun of it. He did the hard conversion wotk and I did the Textures. Complete with a range of Liveries. On one version you can hang torpedo's but understnd that they do not fall like an aerial torpedo or track like one either, that is not coded within the game. This is AI Only with all the issues already associated with the in game helicopters, its not perfect, but it is fun. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/4yje2embi9isubticc8va/CrazyEddie-and-Admirals-AW-101-Merlin-Helicopter-AI-Only.zip?rlkey=m0qqiygglw3xjfd5hvpimsl6m&st=4m4xl7cn&dl=0

  29. My two cents- all of us, myself included, need to really hit the books (digital or otherwise) on employing the AIM-7 before immediately blaming Jester or the aircraft implementation when things go wrong. First, the reticle needs to be set to A/A or the “CAGE” option mils adjusted to 35.(disregard mils setting - this is for previous iterations of the F-4). Otherwise your reticle will not be aligned with the boresight radar beam and Jester will (probably) be locking thin air. Next, the Sparrow’s minimum and maximum range varies based on engagement altitude. At 40k ft a Sparrow’s max range against a 2 square meter target is 20 NM- but if the target is even 5000 ft higher, the engagement range is cut by 1/4th of a mile. Closure rate with the bandit must also be taken into account - because at high fractions of Mach you’ll cover a lot of distance in the five seconds the missile needs to tune, and 20 miles goes by VERY fast at head on closure speeds. Unless your control mapping is next level fast, you’ll be inside minimum engagement range before the missile is ready- and the interlock, if engaged, will not enable AIM-7 launch. Even if you successfully fired at this point because you disabled the interlock , the closure rate will cause the bandit to close inside of arming range of the in flight weapon anyway. So your AIM-7 isn’t going to detonate. Next , you can wave hello at the bandits front quarter IR/radar missile…. Note also that F-4Es pulse radar means aircraft with small frontal RCS like an F-104, F-105 or MiG-21 will have even smaller effective engagement ranges than the missile can kinematically achieve. Which is one reason why APX-80/Combat Tree was a game changer, since an equipped F-4 could track and engage a MiG-21 beyond the APQ-120s ability to capably detect in certain parameters. Ergo, without that system head on shots will be impractical to achieve because the realistic lock-on range is too small to permit full completion of the lock on- telemetry download & missile prep- launch -guidance firing cycle. Larger RCS targets like a MiG-25, Tupolev bomber, etc will be easier to engage. Understand, what I’ve shared so far merely scratches the surface of what one should know about the APQ-120/AIM-7 employment. If a modern radar & AIM-120 combination is a brand new Formula 1 race car, the F-4E is a 1960s Ferrari P-1. A modern F-1 driver can’t just hop in a vintage P-1 and win races immediately. To be effective, much like that F-1 driver we Phantom Flyers must gain a new discipline of education in understanding the Sparrow and radar. Our Phantom’s don’t work remotely the same as calling up a HUD icon and launching a pitbull AMRAAM, and Jester is NOT a magic “lock up the bandit” resource.

  30. Folks I have merged this thread with the older one, its important to keep discussion civil and constructive. I appreciate some of you would like this easy refuel feature but at this time it is not planned. As for the game / simulation discussion. DCS is yours to have fun with however you like, a sandbox, for some its a game for others its a simulation, at the end of the day it really does not matter, enjoy your flight your way. thanks

  31. Hi everyone, I won't go off-topic, but I have to share this: If anyone is having a hard time getting the Moza Cockpit running (showing "Disconnected" no matter what you try), check for USB-COM devices like card readers, Arduinos, etc., on COM4. It looks like the AB9 uses COM4 for communication with the Cockpit software. So if it's blocked, there's no connection. Took me two days to find that out. Best regards, Daniel

  32. That's not a safe assumption. An assist's appeal wouldn't be limited to casual players looking for quick action. Additionally you'll have less experienced players with poor fuel management skills that will find a way to run out of fuel even on short missions. Being interested in flight sims doesn't make one good at flight sims, which is why DCS is full of assists already despite being a hardcore simulation. Virtually every hardcore simulator offers assists precisely because the playerbase is rarely totally homogeneous.

  40. The elitist fanboys argue realism but cry and run back to “git gud” when someone tells them that DCS should have any type of choice or assistants in the game. I’ve read forum posts from new and seasoned pilots asking for DCS to add audible warnings from the crew when refuelling. Simple things like “30 - 20 - 10 - contact…” or; “Entering left/right turn” or; “up - down - back - forward…” while on the boom. And, just because they asked for it, they get piled on by players who learned it despite this touch of *realism* that would have helped them if they had it with they were learning. Basically it’s the - “I didn’t have it when I was learning but since I can’t take a second to step out of my own skin and admit that this is more realistic, I’ll just try to harass and shame anyone who wants a better experience.” - Attitude. So you want realism but not if it helps pilots enjoy the game and not if you didn’t have it when you were learning, got it! Maybe we shouldn’t have LSO’s or the fresnel lens system. Let’s be tough guys and hand fly it in by guessing. This strikes a nerve with me because when I learn something in DCS and teach my friends how to do it I try to add as many tips and tricks to help them succeed. I want them to succeed by any means possible, not hold them back to “teach them the hard way.” It’s an archaic and counterproductive way of thinking that does nothing but turn people off. When we have a choice it’s BETTER, not worse.

  42. Don't be so sure Indeed I can't see what exact code is implemented but with reversible method it can be easily figured out. Maybe you expect that motors in DCS are modeled in details, but they are not and like said it is understandable, who would make all these motors to be precise and perfect. So everything can be detected because of simplifications used in DCS and all other similar games. Give me several level (horizontal) flight envelopes velocity-time and distance-time for active time (when motor burns) let's say 1,2M launch velocity (or better 1M because 1,2M at 1km exceed limits) at 1, 5, 10 and 15km and let's see can we see or not what is code, what is motor thrust at these altitudes. DCS simplified principles is Isp*m, always linear thrust, not involving details like chamber pressure, pressure at nozzle exit, nozzle expansion ratios, throat diameters etc etc etc and that's perfectly right for most of motors. Even 7% principle when increasing thrust as altitude gain is fair enough because it fits quite fine for most of motors...but not this one. Deliberately said ''one'' not ''ones'' and who was reading me know what it means. This motor simply can't be ''molded'' together with Sidewinder, Amraam, Sparrow and pallets of various other tactical motors because with its huge nozzle expansion ratio it is simply different and needs different approach...believe it or not We have saying to someone when ruin established facts, you are destroying snowman, and I know that is exactly what I'm doing But not from wickedness but from engineering needs for precision

  44. This type of topic is not useful without a track, a video or at least a tacview to try and figure out where the problem is. If the Tomcat has taught everyone something is that a pilot who does not understand how radar and avionics work is almost guaranteed to blame Jester for their lack of understanding. And the Tomcat is many leagues easier to use than the F-4E. From what I have seen, Jester is not particularly bad at finding targets: the problem is usually in the front seat. Since Jester cannot tell the stick monkey to change geometry and cannot do it itself, the pilot gets stuck because it does not understand why Jester is not (apparently) doing anything. Jester has many improvements coming in the future but unless it starts telling humans what to do, the chauffeur really needs to put some effort into it.

  45. This is our changelog. ED should publish it today. *Edited*. DCS Mirage F1 by Aerges FM and flight controls: Corrected roll moment appearing when all bombs are dropped from AUF-2 pylon. Decreased rudder roll authority. Decreased pitch authority. Decreased AMEDEE internal curve. Changed pitch trim proportionality between 'up' and 'down' regions. Updated the logic of 'Extra backwards stick travel' mode special option. Systems/cockpit: Implemented '(C+M or SW)R' button logic in 'TL' or 'BZ' auto acquisition radar modes. The logic: 1st button press enables '(C+M or SW)R' mode. With '(C+M or SW)R' mode enabled, and no radar track, the automatic lock will be inhibited until the button is released. With '(C+M or SW)R' mode enabled, and a target tracked, the button release will break target lock, and will restart search. Depending of the time the button was held pressed: Less than 0.3 seconds - the radar will start the search 150 m ahead of the previous target range. 0.3 to 0.8 seconds - 1) in 'TL' mode the radar will do the same (start the search 150 m ahead); 2) in 'BZ' mode the radar will start the search from the scan area center at the nearest elevation bar to the previous target. More than 0.8 seconds - the radar will restart search normally. '(C+M or SW)R' button now will not have any effect if pressed with Master Arm in OFF. Before when (C + M or SW)R button was pressed with Master Arm being OFF, the mode became active once Master Arm was switched ON. IDN knob rotation was fixed in F1BE Fixed rotation of altimeter Kollsman window and IDN knob. NWS steering high sensitivity magnetic hold button now deenergizes with NWS on/off switch. Fixed IDN TACAN distance display counter - the maximum displayed value previously was limited to 300 NM. Fixed A/A TACAN mode. Now it is transmit/receive mode (previously it was receive only). Fixed combat flaps not resetting after a new mission start. Increased randomness for engine fire behavior and evolution. Payloads: Fixed GBU-12 not following laser spot when launched from AUF2 rack. Restored CLB4 SAMP400 HD and LD. Added GBU-16 for central station and GBU-12 for outer stations. Sounds: Reduced trim hat sound gain. Adjusted trim hydraulic sound gains. Pitch trim hydraulics sound is correctly looped now. Misc: Updated ES Flight Manual. Added liveries for missing countries. Fixed refueling light being always on. Adjusted refueling light visual look. Added model SHELL for refueling probe (it now has a contact model). Increased compression visual effect of wheel tyres. Fixed several damage model connector issues (related to flaps and fuel tanks). Now the damage cells that depend on outer wings damage cells are the ones for outer slats, not the ones for inner slats. Improved LODs (WIP).

  46. I really wished that both the IFF and HAVE QUICK pages would be implemented. Even though DCS itself doesn't support actual IFF or HAVE QUICK operations yet, SimpleRadio (SRS) does and the only hindrance to using SRS to it's fullest extent in the DCS F-16 is that we simply don't have the IFF or HAVE QUICK pages in our aircraft. All we'd need is the ability to change the frequencies and turn options on and off on those two pages so SRS could extract those values to use with it's own radio and IFF functionality. Maybe even get the "turn IFF mode on/off N/W/E/S of steerpoint x" functionality in there...
