I feel like it may be time to wait, I have pre-purchased almost every ED module - After the drama and the game of brinkmanship that's been played with my money between ED and the other developer, I just don't feel comfortable investing more until I see more in the way of ensuring that my investment will be sound in the future. I love ED, ED's product and the capabilities we have with it - I am very, very excited to see where it goes.. but after more than 15 years of using this sim, I am worried given the last year. I know I'll get called a troll, I'd invite anyone who thinks so to read my other posts on this forum. I usually feel like it's best to keep my opinion to myself but the silence here has been deafening.13 points

After Kola and Afghanistan I'll need more assurance Im not buying a map full of airfields surrounded low res tundras and jelly mould hills I'm afraid. Sales patter such as "A new level of terrain detail and accuracy" only serve to make me think "snake oil" after the last £100 I dropped on DCS map pre-orders. I sorry I cannot be more positive about what should be exciting news. Im afraid the last 2 maps have left a sour taste.12 points

Thank you for your feedback and for the compliment! Glad you enjoy it too. Many thanks for the compliment, I'm glad you enjoy it too. DCS is constantly updated and (from past experience), in the process, it may break something in this mod at some point. If that ever happens (and your feedback is also important for this), I'll try to implement corrections if necessary. Other than that, and at this point, the "CGTC project" is to be considered concluded. But then, knowing myself, who knows if later I feel the urge to revamp it all over again.. lol8 points

I'm sorry, but I'll hold on to my money for now. All the things that happened this year in DCS left me very disappointed.5 points

Spotting dot worked fine for range of VR-s until last update. Now we have black bricks covering planes. It literary prevents me to see the aircraft underneath. IT IS A BAD SOLUTION. IT DOES NOT WORK. THE OLD SOLUTION WORKED FINE AND WE WERE NOT COMPLAINING ABOUT IT. THERE ARE LOTS OF DIFFERENT THINGS ED NEEDS TO FOCUS ON. LEAVE THE SPOTTING DOT AS IT WAS BEFORE AND DO THE TESTING SOMEWHERE ELSE.5 points

Here's an idea ED. How about you rollback the rollback you did in the previous patch, and wait until you have a working solution, instead of forcing a broken implementation on every VR user? The game looks simply awful in VR.5 points

Wouldn't it be up to the mission designer to put SAMS down where they want - not the map maker?5 points

Just an update, been a bit busy with real life, but the Sea-Darts are still behaving erraticly, as are the Sea-Wolfs, the sea darts are too inconsistent, often detonating 3-5 miles from the ship, and before intercepting5 points

No. Thank you. There are way to many "EA" projects for ED. Hornet, Viper, Super Carrier, Apache, Chinook, Afghanistan... I own all of them. But I don´t see that ED can handle all this in a proper way. And because of this, despite being a fanboy for years I will have to pass on this one and see what the future brings.4 points

I find it impossible to believe that Razbam spent 14 years as a contractor making multiple modules for ED without ever getting paid, that is just not how any business works ever. What i find a lot more believable is that someone is making it up to justify not paying their subcontracted talent with some "the client never paid us ever" bs. They likely didnt get paid for their last project, Strike Eagle, because they didnt fulfill their reqs and didnt rectify it, and decided to go nuclear and full-drama instead. If someone were a painter, builder, or architect, hired by a home-owner, and they told me that they didnt get paid at all... the last thing i would suspect is that the wealthy client just arbitrarily decided to screw them out of the money and just wanted to goto court and have a public fiasco. I would assume the true story likely involves some grave mistakes made by the contractor that were not fixed to a resolution. I would never buy early-access if Razbam were involved. Now THAT makes sense to me.4 points

I have almost pre-ordered every module, be it Aircraft, Helicopters or Maps. This time though I will pass on and wait until it´s much more refined. Recently I got the Kola and Afghanistan map and the CH-47F, but I find all three of them too incomplete to also add an (most probably) incomplete Iraq map ontop of that. I know about Early Acces and what to expect, since as I told, I have done that with almost all addons and I own everything apart from the South Atlantic map, JF-17 and MBB-339. But for now I want to see how developement moves on for Kola, Afghanistan and CH-47F before investing more. The Razbam issue also comes on top of this, having all their Aircraft too. Also recent performance issues (flying almost entirely in VR) keeps me from putting more hard earned money into DCS. It´s not because I have lost faith in DCS, or want to be negative, but I just have reached a point where I want developement to catch up with my investment.4 points

For the sake of Desert Storm, at least backdate the F-16 and the F/A-18. If ED ever fixes things with Razbam then maybe we can get a Day Attack Harrier.4 points

Thanks! I might. Since it also depends on model availability, why not suggest a list of relevant assets in an Israeli pack. Preferably the most common and useful ones.4 points

Hey everyone. Holy cow, it's been over 2 years since an update! Please accept my apologies for that. I've been extremely busy with life, work, and other DCS projects. I'm happy to report that my major DCS time sink is basically over, which was work on my second campaign. It's called "Unlikely Heroes" and is awaiting ED testing (the campaign is based on the Harrier, so the main wait now is for tensions to simmer between ED and Razbam. I'm very hopeful that a resolution isn't too far off). That said, here's some of the updates I've done for the missions posted in this forum (the dynamic spawn option has really taken some extra time getting things ... mostly triggers ... worked out.) See the string of updates below. Fixes for Normandy Variable, Channel Variable, Under the Fuzz, Caucasus Instrument, and Prison Break are coming soon. Just wanted to get this batch out before my brain was totally overloaded about what was done and what wasn't. Also, a new duel mission called "Caucasus Duel" will be out shortly as well. It's great fun, and has 3 different play modes when dueling 1 or more others. Thanks again everyone! and I'm happy to be back with some of these updates. Cornered and Alone v1.5 Added F-15E Added F1-EE Added CH-47 Added Ka-50 3 Added OH-58 Crack the Channel v2.0 Added Dynamic Spawns for all original aircraft plus F-15E, OH-58, Ka-50 3, F-5E FC, F1-EE. I'd vote for that too. Option to specify different resolutions for different areas such as mirrors vs MFD's would be great. Even if it was just a setting in the autoexec.cfg4 points

A small frustration, The landing gear on our current model is vertically down when the aircraft is in level flight when in actuality it should sit at a 8-degree angle so that it is parrel to the ground. Will have to re animate the whole gear leg retraction which is quite the process given that its done with IK constraints. For those unfamiliar, 3ds allows us to solve the gear leg animation with a set of parent bones which is all well and good until you get to the part where DCS doesnt support it. Essentially you have to go through every keyframe and align another set of bones to the animated ones which is just time-consuming. We then have to go through this process for both of the hydraulic rams for the gear aswell. Progress is going well, need to do some more riveting and panelling then its just flaps and turrets to finish null4 points

I would like to put forward a suggestion for having more than one voice option available for radio calls that the pilots make. At present, when I have 3 others inbound to the same carrier or airport - the recorded voices are all identical to each other. There's already talk about how we need female bodies in cockpits. I would suggest that it's more immersive to have some different voices added to DCS (which also include female options), given that this would have far more impact when we fly than bodies we can barely see unless we're doing the Topgun 'international' relations maneuver - which I certainly can't pull off. My proposal however is that ED makes an allowance for us to select a voice similar to how we can select liveries (but maybe in the settings setup). It would be good to have 3 or 4 different voices to choose from (by default) - including a female voice for female pilots, but I'd like it done similar to liveries where it would allow users to add additional voice files into the SAVED GAMES directory so they could add more of their own custom voices. This would mean that if liveries were shared (the same way as plane skins), we would get to hear the different voices that others use in the process. It may be that ED are working on something already where they plan on doing voice recognition instead and we may be able to get away with the F10 menu, which would be even better - but if not, could there please be consideration for having voice liveries for the radio calls?3 points

I hope the textures resolution on the less detailed parts of the map are not going to be like in Afghanistan. Even on the "detailed" portion of Afghanistan, the zones around the most detailed ones are very low quality when flying low. Dont know if this is going to be improved but if Irak is going the same way is a no go for me. The transition between high and low resolution is so poor handled that flying helicopters is a pain, when those parts can be seen together.3 points

Excellent news! I now (almost) can flight from Egypt to Afghanistan! (Maybe some time also Middle Mediterranean Sea? Modern and WWII?) I really don't have a dog in this fight as I use 2-D and haven't really had issues either way. But I will point out to all the people screaming in this thread that "no one" was complaining previously that you can find LOTS of complaints from people who were screaming that they couldn't see anything before this change and how all the servers they played on were losing players because of this. I get it sucks for people with big blobs now and hopefully ED manages to find a happy medium really soon, but I just want to point out that there were clearly people who the old system wasn't working for either. Would be nice if the ON/OFF worked, but "simple" things like adding that back don't take into account what might have changed in the background that mean it would take as much work to re-add it as it would to get a more proper fix.3 points

Ordered and paid: just under 38 euro thanks to some miles I had left... Not too shabby for such an interesting and significant map I wouldn't mind some Iranian airbases to be included at some point, so we can recreate the Iran-Iraq war of the '80s3 points

I just replayed mission 3 of the Wolfpack campaign, to see the extent of the damage. It's a big 16 vs 12 dogfight. This time I was the only one opening fire at straight flying 109s. Nobody else fired a shot3 points

It doesn’t do the same thing. Game auto start is whatever the developer decides and are usually far too slow and stop without performing any post start switch flipping. Building your own start macros can significantly reduce start time and do all the post start switch flipping. I used to mod the in game ones until some dope at ED decided to put them in IC. Now I use VoiceAttack. Not as nice as modding the lua file but serviceable.3 points

I chose BEFORE the update due to the fact that before the update users had an option to disable this option.3 points

To be fair - I don't think that decline is solely for the dots. (Don't get me wrong - I wholely support the option for users to be able to turn these off, and it is likely a contributing factor - but one of many). There is a lot more going on at the moment that I think it contributing to the decline in DCS. The graph seems to reflect what we've seen in our servers - maybe maybe only 1/4 of our usual player base are still regularly active. From conversations, it seems the ongoing instability, and performance issues between DCS releases is a factor (especially now since stable has gone), and there is also a fatigue when it comes to some mission makers / scripters / server hosters where passion is slowly being lost as well as the work involved in trying to overcome things that break between releases is getting to a point where it's very tiring. I appreciate that the last 2 patches have been focused on bug fixes and performance - but concerned with the reckless assumption that all is right by ED removing features (like ST, or the ability to turn dots off, etc) without at least having a release tested and proven in the public first.3 points
