11 April 2025 Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends, Our next DCS update will introduce the initial version of the Data Transfer Cartridge (DTC). This powerful tool, initially released for the F-16C and F/A-18C, enables players to set up radio communication and countermeasures replicating the functionality in real-world squadrons. Future enhancements to this long-awaited Core improvement to DCS will include additional setup functionality and aircraft. See below. We are delighted to share more insights into the progress on the truly outstanding Cold War Germany Map. As the launch date approaches, the Ugra-Media team is working hard to polish historically accurate airfields and the bustling cityscapes of this tension-laden region in 1980s. Stay tuned for more on the upcoming release, and thanks for joining us on this journey back to a defining moment in world history! Check out the teasers on the Ugra Media official YouTube channel. A new Red Flag 81-2 Campaign by Reflected will transport you to Nellis Air Force Base for the ultimate peacetime war game, originally designed to give aircrews their first missions in a mock-combat environment. Inspired by the earliest Red Flag exercises, you’ll join the 336th squadron flying the legendary F-4E Phantom, striving to conquer realistic missions that replicate the high-stakes challenges of modern aerial warfare. Stay tuned for the next update! Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics Data Transfer Cartridge Development Progress In the next DCS update, the initial version of the Data Transfer Cartridge (DTC) will be available for both the DCS: F-16C Viper and DCS: F/A-18C. This initial version will offer new interfaces allowing players to create and load DTC settings for radio communications and countermeasures from within the Mission Editor. This long-awaited functionality is available for both single-player and multiplayer missions. After initial release and product tuning, we will add additional DTC items such as navigation routes and points, targets/pre-briefed points, datalink, weapons, stores management, radar, Non-Cooperative Target Recognition (NCTR) library, and more. We will also expand the tool to other aircraft such as the DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer and DCS: AH-64D. The DTC will use a common interface between aircraft types, but offer unique options based on their real-world counterparts. It will be an exceptionally powerful system that allows both detailed programming options, but also the ability to create multiple DTCs per aircraft, to export them, load them, and share them with friends. Cold War Germany Development Progress What's been done? Our partners Ugra-Media have been working hard on the DCS Cold War Germany map lately. Based on community feedback, the map border has been slightly tweaked, and new locations added. This includes new cities and border checkpoints, key Cold War locations, detailed road and rail networks, historically accurate airfields and improved environments. During internal playtests, the Ugra team checked the navaids and airfields, ensuring that each airbase was ready to receive historically accurate aircraft. Extensive rendering optimizations have been made to ensure consistent performance in large missions. What's working now and next steps? Ugra is currently focused on testing and preparing the map for release. This includes checking airfields, roads and terrain, and translating names into different languages. In the meantime, the colour palettes are being fine-tuned for time of day and all weather conditions. Additionally, Following initial Community feedback, Ugra has significantly improved the map, adding more air defense sites, new locations, original objects, and POIs such as quarries in Leipzig. Looking beyond this early access release, further testing and performance optimisation for high object density areas will be the focus to ensure stable frame rates in both single-player and multiplayer scenarios. Significant milestones and moments to share One of the milestones worth highlighting to recreate the diversity of Cold War-era missions is the near completion of historical airfields with accurate taxiways and ground structures. Ugra-Media has used historical sources, and where information was lacking, they have also relied on the memories of the people who served at those air bases to add authenticity and detail. Due to the exceptionally high degree of object detail, quantity and diversity, Ugra has been very careful about memory limitations, requiring constant vigilance to stay within the limits of DCS. Overall, these developments bring them closer to presenting an exceptional map that depicts Germany in the 1980s. “We appreciate your patience and look forward to sharing more milestones. Stay tuned for the release, coming this April!” Ugra-Media F-4E 81-2 Red Flag Campaign by Reflected Get ready for the great new F-4E Red Flag 82-1 Campaign by Reflected Simulations! Taking place across thirteen meticulously crafted missions, you’ll experience historically accurate procedures, custom voice-overs, and missions randomized for replayability. Complete with detailed briefings, authentic kneeboard images, and dozens of faithful skins, this campaign will showcase the best of DCS from advanced dogfights to carefully choreographed ground attacks. Stay tuned for this exciting new campaign coming very soon in the next update! Thank you again for your passion and support, Yours sincerely,22 points

I believe that is the one bit about this sordid affair that can be accepted as fact Which makes RZ the ones being unprofessional. You simply don't bring your inner disputes to the customer. I'm not a fan of ED's communication, but in this case not saying anything until the entire issue is resolved is what pros do. RZ is taking a childish approach, trying to win in the public space what can't be decided by the public. I beg to strongly disagree. In business, you are always serious about getting paid. It's only about getting paid. RZ didn't 'withdraw their modules' to symbolize anything, they pulled another public hissy fit. Dead giveaway: they talked about it in on an open forum using a prepared communique designed to pour some more gasoline on the flames. A pro would have let the lawyers tell ED, and then let ED handle communication. I don't know who is right or wrong, and it's not up to me to judge. There will be some kind of settlement down the road. The more publicly is said about this, the more damage is done, especially if there are egos involved, and IIRC both sides have more than enough of that... The first logical step in any dispute is to STFU about the entire case and let the lawyers deal with it. RZ may have been wronged, who knows. They also behave like spoilt little brats. This does not bode well, and I'm still hoping for for an amicable resolution down the road. The more is said in public, though, the smaller the chances for this to happen - because, again, Egos (yeah, capital E).20 points

Hi Alphas! Today we show the main metropolis of our map, the "Alpha city" - Frankfurt am Main, "Alpha airport" - the largest airport in Germany and "Alpha airbase" - the legendary NATO base Ramstein - the heart of Europe in the fire of the Cold War! Frankfurt am Main is the center of commerce, culture, education, tourism and transport hub of Germany. All the best here. Frankfurt Railway - a key railway hub of continental Europe (an ideal target for strikes on logistics). Europaturm is a television and radio broadcasting tower located in Frankfurt am Main. Height - 337.5 meters. Westend_Gate - one of the first skyscrapers of the FRG (1976) - 159 m Silberturm (Silver Tower), 166.3 m futurist skyscraper City-Haus. (142.1 m) Frankfurt Airport (EDDF) – the largest airport in Europe in the 1980s, is a dual-base airfield: cargo for NATO was transported through EDFF General plan – giant runways and terminals. Terminal with statics – Lufthansa, Pan Am and other legends. and most importantly Ramstein is the main US Air Force base in Europe. This is where they decide where the bombers will sow democracy. From here you will have the most flights. BUT if you look at the world through the sights of a Sukhoi or MiG, then this base will be the place where the final boss sits. Ready to fly? It's time to put this world in order.14 points

Indiafoxtecho: DCS G.91 WIP SCREENSHOTS ******************************* Contrary to what we do with our MSFS projects, our progress reports for DCS projects are less frequent and, in many cases, way more detailed. Fact is that DCS development is way more time and resources consuming than MSFS, for a number of reasons - and one is the fact that the general expectations are higher in terms of realism and fidelity. BUT rest assured we have been working hard on DCS, and our next product, the G.91 is making slow but steady progress. Here are some work-in-progress images of the new external model with preliminary "bare metal" textures - once these will be complete, we'll proceed with the liveries.12 points

Yes. Because size is irrelevant when it comes to contract law. They are. Anything else is starkly unprofessional and a breach of business confidentiality. You can't. All you heard is intentional, untrustworthy hearsay. Indeed. And that's between you and ED. I'm in the same boat. I trusted ED when they sold me all those modules (Mudhen, Harrier, Falklands, ...), and I expect them (ED) to be good to their word. I won't hear any excuses about some rogue supplier or other sob story. I'm ED's customer, and they will answer to me if they want my continued patronage. Like all others, and DCS has (unfortunately) ample precedence. My beloved Viggen and Yak have gone some 8 years without meaningful improvements. If push came to shove, the official line is usually 'ongoing internal discussions about the future of some product'; if it doesn't work out with a supplier, they are 'permanently put into maintenance mode' or simply 'no longer for sale'. Wouldn't be the first time. And yes, I own the Hawk. You simply do not launder your dirty underwear in public. That helps nobody.9 points

Guys, everyone needs to relax a little, no one here in this thread is going to solve this or be able to find all the details. So don't fight with each other over things nobody really knows or understands.8 points
-
I did not. ED decided to go ahead and sell an unfinished module to their (ED's) customers. Their call, their risk. I don't want to hear sob stories afterwards. ED decided that their customers will buy anyway. ED will now have to defend why they did so, and I don't want to hear a single 'RAZ' in their justification. So ED picked a fight with one of their suppliers? I don't want to know. ED is responsible to keep their house in order, and none of that must ever spill over. That's how business is done. Clown shows are for Circuses.7 points

Still nothing from CH. I really hope the CH and his family are all doing okay! It's NOT NORMAL to hear nothing from CH, CH isn't like that, in my opinion. I kinda got to know him from donating money for all the 3D Modals CH uses to create his mods. I really hope that the DCS World Community will hear something from CH soon. Respectfully, Timex 37 points

There are two ways of going about it right now. The first way is to continue to use the F-15C avionics like many 3rd party mods have done. HUD, RWR, Stores and RADAR. It's an all or nothing proposition. In order to use a custom HUD a fully stand-alone avionics suite would need to be built. It's a possible but daunting task. I don't know when, or if, that might be implemented but for now it'll still be using the F-15C stuff. I'm personally just really happy to be able to fly it again. Keep in mind this is literally an "Open Beta". We should all be familiar enough with that concept Bugs are being identified and corrected. Everything is being moved to Github and tied to the GD release version so that changes can be tracked. It's actually really impressive to see how much work has been done already!7 points

Hi Elonio. There has been no DCS update since you reported this in private. As I told you by email, the start up mission that I had passed you, works correctly on last Open Beta version (2.9.14.8222). I had also sent you a short video on how to pass the stall warning system test, I hope that helped. I attach the mission here so that any other user can check it. Regarding the rest of missions, they should work, I've just tested them. So, if you see any issues with them, we'd appreciate if you report it here, specifying the exact step that doesn't proceed correctly. It always bothers me that when peoples preferred...whatever it may; whether political parties, brands, animals, food, helicopters, city...you know, whatever...that when they stab their customer in the back, its always someone elses fault. In the case of animals, its whatever environment that makes them what they are. People are stupidly blinded by their preferences, so it really bugs me when I see people sticking up for Razbam when it was they who dropped support on their products (and not just in DCS either, btw). That goes for ED as well, as there are plenty of criticisms and drama from years gone by. Ive criticized both Razbam and ED for the better part of 20+ years. I only see one group of people right now acting like man-children, and its not ED. Point is...is that people really should just STFU about the drama, quit pointing fingers, and just accept the fact that whats done is done. You arent helping your cause.4 points

Would certainly be great to have all of CH's mods be part of the core DCS. An update would certainly be appreciated4 points

As a customer, I just hope this entire situation has a positive outcome where we don't see these modules die.4 points

No you are doing nothing wrong. Main focus of the actual ffb implementation is the trim system. I can have a look to add other effects. But that will take some time.4 points

With all the excitement from the WWII Pacific Group I'm a part of (vCTF-58), One map comes to mind that would be incredible as a WWII map in the Pacific. The Solomon Islands The Solomon Islands campaign, specifically the Guadalcanal campaign, was a six-month-long, brutal series of battles in the Pacific Theater of World War II. The initial landings on Guadalcanal and Tulagi in August 1942 by US forces were aimed at securing an airfield, but it quickly became a fierce, prolonged struggle for control of the islands and the surrounding seas. This would be a perfect playground for the Corsair, Hellcat (and not to hope for too much other) and other related assets that could expand upon the playability of the Pacific in DCS. Key aspects of the Solomon Islands Campaign: Initial Landings and Objectives: The US Marines landed on Guadalcanal, Tulagi, and the Florida Islands in August 1942, aiming to secure the airfield at Guadalcanal and disrupt Japanese supply lines. Prolonged Struggle: The campaign was characterized by intense naval and aerial battles, as well as fierce ground fighting, for control of the islands. Naval Battles: The campaign involved numerous naval battles, including the Battle of Savo Island, the Battle of the Eastern Solomons, and the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal. Importance of Henderson Field: The US airfield on Guadalcanal, later named Henderson Field, became a crucial strategic asset, and its control was a major objective for both sides. Lessons Learned: The campaign provided valuable lessons for the US military in terms of amphibious operations, logistics, and the importance of air power. Beyond Guadalcanal: The Solomon Islands campaign also included operations in the Central and Northern Solomons, including the Bougainville campaign. Japanese Defeat: The Japanese, despite their initial successes, were eventually forced to withdraw from Guadalcanal and the other islands in the Solomon Islands. The Solomon Islands campaign was a crucial turning point in the Pacific War, demonstrating the US military's growing strength and its ability to overcome significant challenges. Not to mention the number of land based marine corps squadrons that could open the door to campaign missions that highlight operations in the Solomons. Thoughts?3 points

Some cool snippets of AI testing from Loki And for those not on discord, a soft announcement: So we're going to first fully finish the external model and AI flying. That's a big milestone and there's not a lot left, that's why we're doing the damage visuals, borts, etc. It's close. Then we'll get back to the cockpit and human player stuff.3 points

Please, replaced "ED decided" with "ED AND RB decided" in the above. And I'm not 100% sure that "ED AND RB decided" is correct too: ED didn't ask to RB to develop the F-15E for DCS, RB did. So there is a good chance that actually RB decided to release before having all features done, which is also a common practice of all DCS developers, including ED. I understand you are pissed for this situation (we all are), but blaming ED for RB stopped to ship updates is a nonsense.3 points

Definitely an iconic aircraft, it should be the next WWII era plane added to the game.3 points

I had a similar challenge about 2 weeks ago and also tried a lot of things. I also tried to delete the fxo and metashaders2 folder and deleted all scripts and mods. Tried older Nvidia drivers (with DDU) with Nvidia APP or without it (not relevant for you). I tested deleting OpenXR kit and different quadviews options and checked different process lasso settings. Things that helped me in the past but unfortunately not this time. What helped me at the end, was one of the basic things that is always mentioned (Renew the DCS folder). I renewed the DCS folder in C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS by renaming it (C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCSbackup) and started DCS again so the folder will be created by DCS. Then i stopped DCS and copied the old config folder from the backup (C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCSbackup\config) to C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS. By doing this i did not needed to renew all the configurations. Then i started DCS again and all the stutters were gone. I was really surprised about the effect and i can still reproduce it by switching back to the DCSbackup folder. It also showed nothing obvious in the dcs.log I think it's worth a try and will need about 5-10 minutes time invest.3 points

I made my first flight in the Phantom a couple days ago. I had to make a no-flaps landing as I had not followed the 6 p's in my preflight (proper preparation prevents piss poor performance). We landed safely at Nellis. And as I was patting myself on the back, Jester tells me that now he can retire with disability pay. At least I didn't bend the jet.3 points

I think people have short memories sometimes, we have updated DCS core for multithreading which was a huge task, added VOIP, improved clouds, there are more to list, but you get the point. We deliver new items when they are ready, we will be sharing a new long await core feature soon. The reality is new features take time, design, development, testing, guides, marketing ect. I think we live in a world where people want instant gratification, and that isn't the reality of the situation. And of course we have glass half empty, glass half full personalities3 points

Stats can be misleading without context. USAF strike crews of the time were based in Thailand, which was approximately a 700 mile flight one way. When the round trip from base to target and back is 2,240 kilometers fuel and payload become primary metrics. One of the lesser known reasons USAF Phantom II crews couldn’t match their Navy equivalents in MiG kills was fuel range. Naval fighters were based near the coast, and could surprise North Vietnamese air defense teams with unpredictable arrival vectors. USAF crews had an exponentially longer trip and were identified hours before entering North Vietnam. A consistent refrain you see in the Red Baron reports on MiG engagements that didn’t end in a kill was fuel concerns, which makes sense given the distances. The F-104 was not designed for that kind of long-range aerial campaign. It was built on the lessons of Korea, which was a much smaller battlespace. Further its refueling system - probe/drogue- was incompatible with the boom system established by SAC to refuel their bombers. The final nail in the F-104s air to air career in Vietnam was the North Vietnamese. They had radar and ELINT SA on US aircraft movements and knew to steer well clear of the Starfighters. While this was to the advantage of the EC-121s , Operation Bolo F-4Cs and EB-66s those Starfighters escorted, it meant their odds of fighting a MiG were very low no matter how competent the aircraft and crew. The one engagement on record between an F-104 flight and a single MiG-21 ended with the Fishbed-D pilot punching tanks and running away. A wise decision by the MiG pilot , but hardly the stuff of MiG killer books and movies.2 points

@cfrag I think that you are ignoring that there is a big disparity in size. The probably outdated figures I saw was that that ED has 190 employees vs 10 for Razbam. And this also reflects a difference in revenue. In fact, by not paying the share of the module sales, ED is choking off Razbam's financials. In general, ED has a lot more power that they can use. Ultimately, it is ED's choice to have a big dependency on third party developers, and that automatically means that the the buck stops with them. Because ED chooses to do business with third parties, the disputes with those third parties are not 'inner.' That is the consequence of ED's choice to work with (paid) third parties. This kind of arrangement typically generates friction, because the interests of ED and the third parties are not exactly the same, and they don't fall under the same corporate hierarchy that can resolve disputes and which aligns their financial interests. It's easy to say that they should not bother the customer with this, but there is no way to achieve this without violating the rights of ED or the third party developers. For example, VEAO left after ED demanded things from them which they found unacceptable. It would be a violation of their human rights if a third party developer is not allowed to walk away in such a situation, because they they could be forced into anything. But then the customer will see the impact if the module gets withdrawn or development stops. Probably, but that doesn't mean that the modules will remain in DCS. As far as I can tell, both parties have a financial claim on each other, one for payments due on sales through the store, and one for breach of contract. That part needs to be settled one way or the other. Then the other issue is whether the Razbam modules will get bugfixes and/or further development. With Razbam apparently being unwilling to sell the source code to ED, the only possible solution would be for the parties to mend their relationship and keep working together. But I find that hard to imagine due to actions from both sides, like the time bomb planted by Razbam, and the total stop in payments by ED.2 points

Hello CH, i wanted to know if you were planning on doing a french pack ? I know the Frenchpack 5.0 exist, however it lacks really modern stuff (like 2025+), Air defenses (like the SAMP/T / NG, VL- MICA / NG, Crotale NG (VT1) and Mistral 3) and Ships. France has a lot of unique assets avaible, and i think i can tell i know the frenches vehicules, ships and plane fairly well, so if you plan on doing a french pack and have questions or hesitation about them, don't hesitate to ask me here is a list of potential vehicles you could add in a french pack : -Aircrafts : Mirage 2000D RMV (with STORM SHADOW (SCALP-EG in french), AASM and MICA IR) A330 MRTT (Transport an refueling Super Etendard Modernisé nEUROn (stealth drone prototype) Maybe an AI Rafale C and M (anyway i know you only makes AI) EC665 Tiger HAD blk.3 (with Mistral 3 and Akheron LP) NH 90TTH (transport helicopter) NH 90NFH (Transport, radar, anti-ship and anti-submarine helicopter) Ground units : SAMP/T and SAMP/T NG (the only differences is that the NG use a brand new Groundfire 300 radar and Aster 30B1-NT with PIF-PAF system, but it can't be modeled in DCS i believe) VL MICA and VL MICA NG (the only differences is that the MICA NG has a better seeker and more fuel with a double stage booster (for both IR and EM variants) Leclerc EVO (since you put an Abrams X and some proto to other packs, i think it would be cool to have the Leclerc EVO) VBMR Griffon (french APC) VBMR-L Serval (a smaller griffon, however there is a version with an anti-drone 30mm and another with 2 roof mounted Mistral 3 wich could be interesting) EBRC Jaguar (French recon vehicules with a 40mm gun and 2+2 Akheron MP F&F GGM) VBL 2 (French scout car with upgraded engine) CAESAR MK.2 6X6 (Modernised CAESAR artillery system) Ships : FDA Horizon (D620 & D621) (2 76mm, 2 20mm, 48 A50 VLS, usually equiped with 32 Aster 30 and 16 Asters 15, 8 MM 40B3C) FDA RMV (D620 & D621) (the RMV program would add the Aster 30 B1NT, a brand new mast (probably the same as the FDI) with SeaFire 500 radar and maybe 16 more A50 VLS and a potential replacement of 16 A50 by 16 A70 to equipe FMAN/SPEAR 5 or Aquila, so he potentially will have 16 A70 and 48 A50) FREMM ASW (D650-D655) ( 1 76mm, 2 20mm, 8 MM 40B3C, 16 A70 with MdCN cruise missile (FMC and FMAN in the future (french name for the SPEAR 5)) and 16 A43 with Aster 15 (D651 and D655 have been upgrade with 16 A50 with Aster 30 instead of 16 A43) FREMM DA (D656 & D657) (1 76mm, 2 20mm, 8 MM40B3C and 32 A50 with Aster 30) FDI (D660-D664) (1 76mm, 2 20mm, 8 MM 40B3C and 16 A50 (maybe 32 and a LMP in the future)) FLF Lafayette (F710-F714) (1 100M, 2 20mm, 8 MM 40B3C, (F711 &F714 : 1 Crotale (8+16 VT1) ), (F710, F712 & F713 2 SIMBAD RC (2x2 reloadable Mistral 3))) PHA Mistral (L9013-L9015) (french LHD with amphibious capacity, 16 to 32 helos, 2 SIMBAD (2x2 reloadable Mistral 3), 2 20mm ) Charle De Gaule (R91) (up to 48 Aircrafts, 32 A43, 2x Sadral (2x6 reloadable Mistral 3), 11 20mm ) PA-NG (R92) (48 A43, 4 40mm, 4-8 20mm, maybe 2-4 LMP) The list is pretty long, but there is things like the LHD and carriers i put but didn't really expected you to make since you never did in any other pack and is propably a lot of works. However, there is still more vehicules but i think these are the "essential" or at least the usefull one. Hope my suggestion will be seen, and hope even more it will convince you to make a pack ! Even if you don't, please continue your incredible work, your packs add so much to DCS, Have a great day PS : sorry if my english is bad, hope i won't hurt your eyes too much2 points

Life beyond the airfields. Today we will look at what creates the atmosphere of the map. These are the little things that turn the picture on your monitor into a living world with the atmosphere of the 1980s! Thanks to them, you will be able to understand where you are (East/West Germany), and maybe remember something. Cars of the era: GDR: "Trabants", "Wartburgs", IFA trucks / FRG: "VW", "Mercedes", BMW In Germany, they know about the "three K" "die drei K" (Kinder, Küche, Kirche) - Children, Kitchen, Church. So, we made several typical churches - these are beautiful objects with recognizable architecture and good landmarks that will help you not to get lost in the sky. We took care of the little things, so that even flying high you understand that there is life below. Supermarkets and gas stations - it is impossible to imagine the world without them The German national team is one of the most successful national teams in the world. Railway bridges and trains are strategic objects and unique moving targets for each side. Cranes - it is impossible to imagine a port city without them - an excellent landmark and a reason for a challenge. Ferries on rivers are excellent targets, who knows what they carry? Combine harvesters. There is life outside the cities. Special transport - flying over the city you will definitely see police cars, fire trucks, ambulances rushing about - life in cities does not stop.2 points
