  1. This should be quite enough if "we are waiting for the community opinion" or something like that was said in another thread. What I mean who could afford to to lose such contributor as cfrag has been?

  2. Dear all, my inclination to contribute to DCS has reached an inflection point, and I have decided to withdraw from public contribution for the time being. I thank you all for your kind encouragement and friendship in the past decade, and wish you only the best for the future. -ch

  3. Whoever is doing the EA guide for the Apache deserves a raise and some recognition. The manual has been by far the best one of all the ED manuals I've read and the new updates covering George and helicopter flight dynamics are awesome. Hopefully this sets a new standard for ED manuals going forward and that the guides for existing modules get updated to match the level of quality the Apache guide brings.

  6. So nothing is gonna change and the modules are becoming useless. Hawk 2.0 incoming…. So what’s plan B? Everyone gets store credits like similar events. Just get this muppetshow over with and take a stand.

  7. DCS 3.0 = Vulkan If ED would allow me to remove the M2000C and AV-8 from my account in exchange for modules on the website, I would accept! Even though I have practically all the DCS modules. You could give this idea to ED @BIGNEWY, or something like that.

  8. A new training mission is now available in DCS user files, recreating the Tarnak Range located just southeast of Kandahar Airfield in southern Afghanistan. This range was actively used by coalition forces during the OEF/ISAF campaigns for live-fire exercises, mostly ground-to-ground, but also sometimes for close air support (CAS) training and JTAC integration. It also holds historical significance as a former al-Qaeda training site prior to 2001. Additional historical context is available here. The mission features a variety of static and mobile targets, along with MANPADs and AAA systems that can be dynamically activated or deactivated using the F10 radio menu. The implementation of the MOOSE Range script enables detailed scoring for bombing and strafe runs and provides protection from MANPAD hits. A JTAC unit is included to support CAS training. While the range procedures and patterns are fictional, they are inspired by those used in real-world training environments. CombatFlite and Tacview support is also available. This mission is designed primarily for fixed-wing aircraft training. A future update will expand the mission to include the Texas Helo Range, specifically tailored for rotary-wing operations. Important notes: Open this mission as a multiplayer mission in order to be able to use dynamic slots and choose any aircraft at Kandahar, or manually add the aircraft of your choice in DCS Mission Editor. Due to a DCS bug, it is not possible to directly monitor when a player enters a plane. So in a mission with client slots, it is vital that a player first enters as spectator or hits ESC twice and after that jumps into the slot of his aircraft! If that is not done, the script is not started correctly. This can be checked by looking at the radio menus. If the mission was entered correctly, there should be an "On the Range" menu items in the "F10. Other..." menu.

  9. Truly appreciate all your efforts, you had a big impact on DCS mission development, using capabilities "still over looked, to this day", by ED. You took intuitive mission design with under the hood solid LUA code to help make mission maker dreams turn to reality. Many creative and cool features that made DCS more dynamic and more immersive as well as supporting intelligent core functions for continued development. Some of my favorites: FactoryZone, Convoys, Valet, Messenger, of course the King of Kings..... CloneZones! Clever items such the implementation of ASW, very slick. Intelligent resource and performance prudent capabilities such as Impostors. And of course tclGUI which gives server/community managers extra flexibility to trusted players to quickly swap missions or reset, etc. As you know I'm fond of saying...."Take the rest of the day off" Relax and contemplate the next big challenge. Many thanks!

  10. Also to say that the trim is depending on the FPS of each individual computer. Signals from buttons only checked each frame.

  11. I believe the A-4 rolls slightly left naturally due to the ammo drum being left of the centre. The opposite trim will come down to the resolution of your trim button being too big. The real trim is obviously analogue, so the duration of the pilot's trim actuation matters (and they can do a very short actuation). With a digital hat switch (I use TM Warthog), the minimum duration of the trim actuation is too large. Cheers! Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk

  12. I checked your track in both pancake mode and in VR, and you're right: it looks the same on my end. It looks like Draconus was spot on: it definitely looks like a bad LOD model which then interacts strangely with heat blur. When the aircraft are about 450m away, the effect disappears and things go back to normal.

  14. Hi Guys - an update. But first, a big thank you for all your comments and suggestions - WE HAVE IT FIXED (hopefully) Went back and checked the 'dodgy' SSD on another USB port (original USB port was a USB 3.0 so should have been OK) - same slow rating with Crystal Mark. I also had another of the same SSDs (bought them on discount for the pair) - is being used just as additional back up drive on my wife's PC. Same slow rating on Crystal Mark. Does work fine as a back up file drive anyway - so looks like the wife gets another one. They are a Seagate 2TB SSD so you would think OK. However, maybe the discounted price was for a reason !!! For info Drive H has a USB-C connection and works great. So, copied (as suggested) DCS folder back onto the original Drive D internal SSD. Did a slow repair, edited relevant shortcuts etc ...... and it worked just GREAT. Much quicker loading, runs as smooth as silk, no stuttering or lagging in both triple screens and VR .. I am in love with DCS again. So looked like those SSDs are just not up to the demands of DCS. So have placed an order for an ADATA Elite SE880 USB-C Portable SSD 2TB Drive. Specs seem to indicate that will do it. so once that arrives will copy over to that SSD and start to reinstall all those maps and modules waiting for me. So once again, thanks

  15. I think you are showing exactly the opposite with your comparison pictures. 1. the video of the original you are referring to is very heavily compressed. You can see this very clearly if you look at the overlay. It definitely doesn't show the sharpness of a 720p video, and I'd wager not even 320p 2. In the last row, you've put the original on the right-hand side. Here the overlay is almost as sharp as in DCS and you can clearly see how bad the picture of DCS Sniper Pod is in comparison. The aliasing alone should scare anyone. 3. if you look closely at both PIP images, you will notice that everything in the PIP of the original is the same size as everything around it. The image of the DCS Sniper Pod changes the size massively. The buildings there are smaller, but the fine structures are almost twice as thick. It looks to me as if the heavy compression from the original video was not taken into account when developing the DCS Sniper Pod. And something else doesn't seem to have been considered. The cameras in the original Sniper Pod are !!! not!!! digital. They are analog. With the same "resolution", an analog camera will always be able to display a much more detailed image. I hope the sharpness of the image and the details are adapted to this fact. If not, one have really missed the mark.

  16. It looks like the July 23rd patch has normalized the cockpit critical_damage values across the AI A and C Hornets as well as the flyable C Hornet. They're all set to a value of 8 now. I don't think this was mentioned in the patch notes.

  19. Probably the thing that pisess me off the most, regarding my country, is the huge difference in standards allowed by the government, for example the minimum salary is around US$ 530 (please keep in mind that many many people do not reach this minimum as they work without contracts or on their own or are unemployed), while the same politicians that set this minimum salary earn US$ 7,400 (plus an expense allowance of around US$ 9,000 ... monthly figures for a Senator) ... and this does not take into account the extra money that politicians earn through influence trading. In my opinion, these inequalities are the true mark of a 3rd world country ..

  22. Sure but that’s quite unlikely I think, since working on someone else’s code is a royal pain in the behind. And that’s even more so when the initial programmer is from a different country/continent with an entirely different mindset.

  26. In general it is questionable while you rearm with the engine running in a few minutes in DCS then need to wait for the old TGP to reboot is a realistic combination at all. If the rearming procedure was realistic ( 45 minutes incl engine shutdown and restart ) a TGP boot would be required anyway because ground power does not power any of the TGP. Considering DCS rearming being a game mechanic that way, the need to reboot the litening TGP is not a realistic logic or addition to realism anyway. So its good we dont need to with the ATP.

  28. And thats the reason why I created this thread in Wishlists. Wouldnt it be awesome to create a custom DTC comfortably with the DTC Menus ED is working on, then just click for example "make default DTC" and it will be either loaded into the jet already or at least ready for you to start the loading process via the MFD buttons? Imagine to go to servers like DCS Dogfighters BVR arena, where you can practice many BVR engagements in very little time respawning in a short time and have your CMDS and MFDs already set up each time you spawn.

  29. The only benchmark should be against the real one. Hopefully they will work on the litening to make it more like the real thing but it has nothing to do with the Sniper pod.

  30. Just in from support...I swear to god, this couldn't be made up. "...and we fully understand your concern about the order progress. Regarding your order, we have arranged with Amazon for expedited handling, but Amazon system currently indicates the shipment date will be delayed until August." Followed by... "Your experience is always our priority, and if you have any questions or need assistance, please feel free to let us know. We will do our best to resolve them for you." My reply, "So send it DHL ffs. Duh!" Time for the video now, the title of which will be 'Pimax Malice'. Somebody very clearly needs to have their employment terminated.

  31. It’s not the hard landing. There is chatter in the forums for all the carrier aircraft causing a CTD when catching a wire with the hook on the various carriers. I’m hearing reports that calling in your inbound with ATC commands is a fix for now, but I haven’t tested it yet.

  32. There shouldn't be a signification performance impact, you can use the "tiny.en" model in your settings file as well (this is what I use) to reduce VRAM even further. For the configuration stuff follow the instructions, i.e. installing WhisperAttack and the VoiceAttack plugin. You can skip the other profile stuff though and just use the VAICOM instructions for updating your existing Vaicom profile.

  33. Contact the carrier prior to landing should fix it (even if you just call inbound and don't do full comms). If you abort inbound it will crash too.

  34. This is my impression as well. Having flown the Tomcat from Heatblur for many hours, I don't think the jester menu is superior to the George's interface in the Apache module, for the Apache module. The button presses short and long are sometimes superior to head tracking on that Jester menu where you'd want to use it the least as possible binding Jester's actions on the keyboard or Hotas. Here on the Apache is a quicker interface for quick action with button presses and less room for mistakes. Coming from a virtual Tomcat driver, I like it.

  35. I think you misunderstood me. Unfortunately, English isn't my native language, and I have to use a translator, which probably doesn't convey the meaning of what I'm saying. I'm trying to say that I have the impression, the feeling of being disregarded when it comes to comments and observations regarding the Mi-24. For example, how long the topic of the official manual or the green light on the R-828 radio has been going on. These are just two of the most common examples. I hope it's clear now. I'm writing only on my own behalf, although I have the feeling I'm not alone here. Thank you

  37. I don't get it, there was a bunch of talk about how the LITENING has had unrealistically clear overall image but especially the digital zoom for years. The new ATP implements the digital zoom realistically, and people are upset that it isn't as good as the LITENING?

  38. It was supposed to be state-of-the-art, but it turns out to be the least useful because the image is so blurry (basic mode). This falls far short not only of Lightning but also of what it should be (videos and photos above). Without SP, you can search endlessly for a target, whether it's a vehicle, let alone a single soldier. It won't be useful until this is improved.

Work in progress fixes for the following bombs explosive mass: M117, Mk-80 series, and WWII AN-M GP series. This also applies to Guided Bomb Units (GBU) that use the Mk-80 series of warheads. This is connected to the changes for SAMP bombs that we did in the previous patch and will be evaluated and finalized in future patches. Most rocket warhead families (at least Hydra/Zuni/FFAR, S-5/8/13/25, and SNEB-68) are already set up with parameters that match our available sources. Adjust TADS crosshairs aimpoint on target when tracking a target and GUN, MSL, or RKT is assigned. Player should only use this when able to fly in a stable manner. Perform start-up and shutdown procedures when commanded. NOTE: This must be actively commanded by the player now. Engage multiple targets in sequence, as selected by the player from AI Target List. Added: New DCS units to George AI CPG unit labels in Target List. Improved: George AI CPG missile engagement behavior. George will announce “Constraints” if a Safety Inhibit or Performance Inhibit is present to prompt the player to maneuver the helicopter into acceptable launch constraints. George may be commanded to override a Performance Inhibit by pressing Consent To Fire. NOTE: This allows the player to decide when it is appropriate to fire under certain conditions, but risks the missile missing the target if not used appropriately. If missile launchers are in SAFE status, George will press LNCHR ARM if commanded to action SAL2 or RF missiles. If RF MSL PWR is set to OFF, George will set it to AUTO if commanded to action RF missiles. Improved: George AI CPG rocket engagement behavior. George will not fire rockets when in COOP rocket mode. The Pilot (player) is intended to fire rockets in COOP rocket mode. George will announce “Match and shoot” at further range (7000 meters). When in COOP rocket mode, changing rocket settings on the WPN page in Pilot seat will also change George’s rocket settings in AI Interface. Improved: George AI CPG Interface logic when landed (weight-on-wheels). Improved: George AI CPG verbal feedback. George will now tell the player when he cannot perform the commanded action. Will reply with “not ready to engage”, “not ready to fire”, or “standby” if the player presses Consent To Fire and the target is in range but George is not actually ready to engage. This may occur if George is shifting aim to the target or if still lasing for an RF missile handover. Fixed: George AI CPG not firing gun when commanded with ROE HOLD FIRE until previous gun burst impacts. Fixed: George AI CPG time-of-flight estimation when employing AGM-114L. Will now accurately wait for missile impact on target, before firing another missile if target is not destroyed. Updated: DCS: AH-64D Early Access Guide. See Latest Changes section for additional content. Added Helicopter Fundamentals of Flight chapter. Revised/updated George AI chapter with new logic and functions of George as AI CPG. 40. Да я тоже локти кусаю, что Харриер не купил в свое время. Ну да что теперь. Я ориентировался на эту фразу: "Eagle Dynamics confirms that it signed a settlement agreement with Razbam at the end of 2024 to put an end to the existing disputes and that such agreement also provides for a strict confidentiality requirement that prevents Eagle Dynamics from disclosing further information". 41. Btw, tangentially related: On a first glance, the Mig-21 AI update seems pretty solid. Now a player-flown F-4E can actually outrate a (low AI skill) Fishbed, as it should be IRL. Im sure ACE skill will still do things that are beyond physics, but thats kinda the point.

  43. This horn cannot be right at all, min rpm of 1800 lets me run a little over 33" of mercury (+3 boost) before the horn sounds, and the mosquito cruises along at about 230mph. Fine, but what if I want to loiter in a spot, say in a maximum economy mode, perhaps while attempting to communicate with the navigator, or via a radio. Why do I need to listen to this horn throughout that? Please someone show me a source that says it was really like this, otherwise common sense was not consulted on this module.

  44. Il y a déjà le french pack avec pas mal de véhicules, et pour les hélicos, il y a Damien qui en a fait. Certes ils ne sont pas parfaits (les hélicos), mais ont le mérite d'exister. There's already the French pack with quite a few vehicles, and for the helicopters, Damien made some. They're certainly not perfect (the helis), but they have the merit of existing.

  45. So, are you saying this upcoming breaking change was well communicated to closed beta testers? Why was this kept a secret from the rest of the community? You realize how terrible of a practice it is for a company to release a breaking change without any notice, right? Companies following best practice will deprecate features/API versions (meaning you can still use them, but you know they're going to be removed LATER) or at the bare minimum, give upcoming notice...

  46. If I could be so bold as to suggest what I would like the most for Campaigns on the Kola Peninsula and without being so rude as to request the whole pack in Core DCS, I would very much like the following to be fast-tracked if at all possible: * RB 70 * RB 90 * Swedish Infantry * Strv 103 I pick these because air defenses is the most important part for most campaigns and we already have the HAWK. As for ground forces and scenery, the Strv is the most unique and the infantry will look good as background characters.
