Yup, hopefully before the end of the year. To add the AI C-123 provider, a few ground units and static objects. I don't have a defined list at the moment, I'd like to add a serie of static objects to increase the Vietnam "feel" on the Mariana WWII map, stuff like weapons cache, tunnel entrance, etc. as well as a few custom cargo objects to carry internally (special thanks to @TeTeT) Quick test: Unfortunately, the UH-1H cargo bay is quite small, can't even fit a stretcher in there No, I can't really share it in its current state. But if you can a great AI blackhawk mod: I tried and I can't figure out how to do it. The kind of animations necessary always create conflict for some reason.6 points

South Atlantic Development Report An update to the DCS: South Atlantic map is in development and planned for inclusion in an upcoming DCS update. Every airfield is receiving an optimization pass to lower video memory usage. Texture fidelity is being improved significantly, with airfield textures quadrupling and building materials doubling. Vegetation across the map will now use a new distribution algorithm for denser and more natural coverage. Snow distribution and tiling issues are also being corrected. Normal maps are getting upgraded and integrated across the Argentina and Chile landmass to improve surface relief and lighting response. Airfield lighting and visual systems will receive a complete refresh. All lighting will use new tech, and airfield lighting will react to takeoffs and landings. Ushuaia PAPI lights are getting properly leveled too. Specter Studios is adding animated airfield radar units where appropriate and replacing all wind turbines with map specific animated models, as well introducing a variety of new airfield objects. A large set of airfields and points of interest are being revamped, including: Port Stanley, Ushuaia, Ushuaia Helo Port, Mount Pleasant, Punta Arenas, Puerto Natales, Mare Harbour, Rio Gallegos, Rio Grande, Provenir, Franco Bianco, O Higgins, Almirante Schroeders, San Julian, Comandante Luis Piedrabuena, and Pampa Guanaco. Mission planning quality of life is also being improved. The F10 map will show country borders and helicopter locations along with additional visual refinements. I ask only for the ability to adjust the NVG "tube" up and down. In options we can 'Night Vision Goggles Gain-Increase' and 'Night Vision Goggles Gain-Decrease' (which one cannot do with the ANVIS-6 and ANVIS-9 systems I've worked with), but we cannot move the tubes up so they don't impede viewing of the panel and/or glancing outside 'unaided' (which is a mechanical adjustment that is key to proper NVG use). One of the very first things I learned about flying with NVGs is to adjust them, and prime to that is to get them out of one's way to see under them for the panel and for unaided view. There was/is a mod that allows NVG adjustments that's almost a half-decade old (by Tacca). Two problems with it are a). It's a mod that shouldn't be necessary and breaks on updates, and b). it also allowed a full-screen NVG effect (which is a bit of a cheat). I understand some dude wanting to fly night missions in a helicopter isn't the bread and butter of your sim. All I'd ask is controls to move the NVG 'window' (which looks quite good, I might add) up or down in the field of view.4 points

In fairness, he never stopped updating this map (and since it's "his" map, he's been the one updating it all along). Razbam was only the publisher and even after they publicly announced they were stopping pushing updates to the F-15 etc, there were still SA map updates pushed.4 points

Hi, When can the community expect the first moving images of the BO? So, first videos in DCS where we can get a first impression of the module? Or is it still too early?4 points

this mod only ADDS visual parts (and liveries) to the existing UH-60a in game. it does not modify or replace the existing model. as such, it has the same limitations, flaws and ai behavior of the standard UH-60a. With those restrictions, I cannot remove the gunner, MH-60s, doors, etc. it also means I can't fix the errors or limitations of the exiting UH-60a model's skins (ex: double texture on belly, mirrored textures on doors, etc.) I made some compromises in my liveries and the mod shapes to work around these flaws; but that's about all I could do using the existing model. As for the SOAR livery, I attempted to recreate markings on all my liveries from photos of actual aircraft (with a few modifications due to model limitations; ie aforementioned mirrored textures, etc.). That particular livery has no tail number so honestly, I don't recall what my source reference material was...3 points

Yes, ground targets can be targeted with R-60, should also be possible for the Mi-24P. However, it is not (yet) implemented in DCS.3 points

Hello, dear ED team. I wanted to point out small but annoying irregularity considering JFS startup. In real life, JFS starter turbine is cranking using 2 compressed gas reservoirs. As you know, start 1 for one "bottle" and start 2 for both at the same time. Problem is that in real life JFS reservoirs are exhausted a bit less than 2 minutes (can't remember where I've seen this info on their duration) after START switch is set to 2 (or 1), while in DCS they are infinite and will never exhaust. With this, timing is crucial when bringing engine to life. Right after SEC light dissapears and RPM hits ~20%, handle is immediately placed to idle position in order to finish engine start up before reservoirs (or one reservoir) are depleted. Refilling those reservoirs is not an easy task ! Right now we don't have to pay attention to this and can idle engine whenever we like, which is wrong. Can this be simulated in the future ? Where: 1.) JFS is actually timed about 2 minutes and if throttle is not placed in idle position in this time frame (too late), JFS stops, JFS indication light goes out, engine cannot be started and we need to request ground crew option to repair aircraft or add additional Ground crew menu option for "JFS reservoirs refill". 2.) If we attempt to set throttle to idle too early, before SEC light is off and RPM is less then ~20%, it should be simulated as hot start - there’s not enough airflow to keep the engine cool. FTIT should indicate hot start where engine start up should be aborted to prevent possible damage (maybe this is already simulated, I forgot to test it). https://theaviationgeekclub.com/starting-the-engine-on-an-f-16-viper-is-different-from-most-other-jet-aircraft-heres-why/amp/ Thank you for your time. It will not be included in the existing deal, the extra work is quite massive in comparison. Details are unclear at the moment as the B(U) is still out a bit. Focus currently lies on the Early-A. There will be more time to talk about the B(U) later, cheers.3 points

Haven't found a report about the following, at least not with the search criteria I used. See also tracks attached. Have an AH-64 armed with Hellfires at least on the right inboard station. Be on the ground, open cockpit door and hit CTRL + E three times to ground egress the helicopter and look from the outside. Do this both for pilot and CPG. Pilot comes to a stop after the egress animation with the missiles through his body: The CPG is floating in a 45° angle in the air... So the F4 has night vision options. But was it ever used by the US? I've read several books about American pilots who flew the F4 into the 80s. And they never seemed to have used it. The vast majority of American fast jets didn't use them as late as the gulf war or even the Balkans. So I'm guessing the NVGs are for those that continued to use the F4 after the early 90s. Like Germans, Turks, Koreans etc?2 points

If you're using VAICOM it will definitely trigger the "Salute" "in the radio menu". (VAICOM doesn't really use the radio menu, but it uses the features of the radio menu). Just add an additional pure VoiceAttack command like "Mission Salute", that sends the "S" keypress. Cheers! Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk2 points

Yep. To tell the truth I have tried to create a campaign for this simulator twice. The first has been planed on Caucasus map, the second one on Syria map. But both times I stopped after creating 4 missions because of the updates which were ruining everything. I worked hard to test each mission and make it work to the end at least in 90% of occurrences. It took me around a month. I was fighting the dumb AI to get over all the bugs of the core game and make it do the job. Because it is not working when you just tell the AI do "X", it wil do "A, C, G, Y" but not "X". But then the update comes and bring a lot of changes to the core game and all of the triggers stop working as they were and the AI behaviour changes and a lot of new bugs appearing and all of the work I have done I were need to rebuild and retest to make it work again. So I just stopped doing it. To understand it better. I was trying to create campaign were there will be allied AI ground and air units which will help you to achive the victory. But because each update were ruining my missions, I had to make a lot of fixes to make them working again. Because the AI may stop dropping bombs on the target for example and start dropping them to early so they will impact the ground to far of the target and do no damage at all. So I have started to create a triggers which were exploding the targets when the bomb is entering the trigger zone. I just made a timer which will wait a minute so the bomb will impact the ground and then all the targets will explode themselves. In a short, a lot of work should be done and it can be ruined by the next update. So I started to create a simple missions for myself and even not touching them anymore. Because in a couple of the next updates they may even start working as intended again.2 points

Nope, I was wrong to trust sites over manuals. Sorry. It is how you said. Only thing not mentioned is not just pilot manually returnig jfs start switch to off will stop jfs and deplete reservoirs. Misfire probability is still a thing which ground crew needs to be prepared for. Now only things that remains not simulated fully is START 1. START 1 could be simulated in a way to have probability to "misfire" which also results in one depleted bottle. Second start 1 attempt with last remaining bottle and if fails again, you're done. Ground crew JFS refill is needed then. Misfire usually has higher probability in hot temperature, higher MSL altitudes, JFS bottles condition (pressure). START 2 already has high start probability in RL and should remain as is. Thank you. Best regards.2 points

"No Mig-21": not true, Mig-21PFM could do it, but clarification should be asked from Magnitude 3 if the other versions of Mig-21 in Yugoslav service had the modifications to carry it, especially since one of the SMEs is an active pilot and instructor on Mig-29 and the Mig-21 airplanes were taken out of the service few years ago. E.g. it's a well known fact that Yugoslavia modified their Mig-21s to level that it could use domestic IADS instead of soviet one, by replacing the DL components on receiving end. Mid 70s this was AS-74, and mid 80s AS-84. Once the GCI officer designates the target, the figher would receive updates automatically. I point you to the book "Nebo na dlanu", written by Rajica Bošković. I also would like to point out that at this time development of domestic guided missile also called Grom was in progress. If you have technical reasons for Mig-21bis not being able to guide it, I recommend you to post a topic in Mig-21 section. Mig-29: true, this missile was never used. The only option for any other precision weapons on 9.12 was the upgrade offered in 1996, as a part of the overhaul, which included Kh-29T, however this upgrade is not modeled for the time being. Source: Mirčeta Jokanović interview at TV Front. However this upgrade never took place due to the internal political factors.2 points

Pre designation gives you correction for either wind or target movement. You do this by holding lock button, putting reticule on target, and releasing lock button. After 2 seconds The correction will have been computed once you place the reticule on the target a second time. It is better then say MiG-23, where it is required to keep reticule exactly on target for a few seconds. After releasing lock button laser ranges and builds mathematical model of where target should be if stationary/no wind in comparison to your speed height and movement. After two seconds the FCS assumes your reticule is on target and produces correction for that position. So when you place reticule a second time and fire, the proper movement/wind correction is calculated. One thing with this is that the calculation only lasts around 8-10 seconds, then you will need to do it again, and is only for that specific target. A stationary target in no wind requires no correction so no pre designate needed. Hmmm? Any MiG-21 with RP-21 radar could guide the missile. It was designed entirely for MiG-21. I think you will find the normal weapon aiming mode very precise. It will be very precise for bombs and gun, rockets will be more precise the faster you are.2 points

It's fair to say that the map is looking better and better. I'd even go so far as to say that it currently looks even better than Kola in terms of textures, vegetation, and buildings. And with the latest update, the map will be even better. Ultimately, although it took a long time, it turns out that while it may not be as popular a region, it's a very good map.2 points

I could only find 1 in the 2024-2025 changelogs: How is it that devs won't even change cfg file to give us better lights/objects visibility over current 5km on NTTR? We know the new maps are priority but there's this feeling the devs have no time at all for older projects while a single % of their time dedicated would be enough. You've just said they can't use Scratch2 points

I guess I have to ask why? The generic reflective material is pretty ugly. If the performance is not great with mirrors for you, then you just fold them up, and they do not render. (Try not to judge too much by the dev video, I see much better frames than this). 2) We will have resolution settings for mirrors coming; you will be able to pick the resolution you want, much like cockpit resolutions. We will also have a render option as well, either sequential or not.2 points

UPDATE v1.1 Hello guys, new update is up. The cockpit model was redone — most parts rebuilt from the ground up and retextured. The exterior also got some fixes: corrected damage model (no more parts showing when they shouldn’t after damage), added bort number on the front landing gear, boarding ladder, and intake covers for parked/static aircraft.Flight model was adjusted to remove the unrealistic supercruise. Smaller tweaks include engine sound update. Unfortunately for now fabric cover doesn't work as it should on parked (not static) aircraft with open canopy clipping through it, so it was removed until it could be added properly in the future.2 points

The USAF didn't lean into NVG usage until ANVIS sets came online and were available in enough numbers. The Phantoms were being retired as those sets were coming online, so there was likely no overlap. The F-4Gs were around slightly longer but I've seen no indications of NVG use with them either. The Navy began using NVGs around '86 with first on-cruise usage in Intruders during the '87/'88 cruise on the Coral Sea. As quickly as NVG usage started coming online it also identified the need for NVG compatible cockpits, which is something there's evidence of in Navy aircraft but not in the F-4E in USAF usage. Modernized jets from other countries, the Greeks and Turks are more likely. I can't say I saw any ROKAF crews with them nor JASDF in their EJs. Unsure as well with the Germans.2 points
