Uour GPU takes twice the time to render a frame than your CPU. Getting the 4090 will lower your GPU frametime to around 11ms (my own experience) as well so will be a good match to your CPU. BTW I am using openxr rather then openvr so don't have the vrfps measure

@dburne, to be sure...The AA nvidia setting u refer to is Antialiasing-mode then Antialiasing- Setting right? not sure what the MFAA is about FWIW I tried using F16 instant action cold and dark ... opens with a long grass field which test the AA nicely. With Nvidia forced at 8x ... nothing obvious happening and lots of shimmering. With Nvidia off and DCS at 8x ... no shimering at all anymore. Different for u??

hehe yes and the hours spent tinkering have to be repeated each time DCS makes an update or windows does or Nvidia does Without reprojection I suppose you need >90fps for a smooth experience and I do not think you'll ever get it.

Quite frankly I would not bother with most of the tinkering as you end up spending your life on it for very little incremental benefit. Adjust the main DCS settings to your liking ( I find MSAA 2x is enough as is Anisotropic at 8x or even 4x) but I like clouds on ultra and visib range as well). Your system should be very smooth with your hardware. Possibly look into process lasso to make sure the vr compositor and other vr related processes are always given high priority if you experience some stutters.

Looking for some advice as to my next HMD
Brainfreeze replied to Hairdo1-1's topic in Virtual Reality
Aero has one big big thing going for it: The very high clarity / enormously wide sweet spot. Everything is clear on 80% of the lense. This is important for spotting in DCS. IMO no point having 180deg FOV if a distant aircraft will not register in the blurry space outside of what is just in front of your eyes. If FOV is what you prefer though...pimax is your friend. -
Nvidia Driver Versions and VR Perfromance
Brainfreeze replied to speed-of-heat's topic in Virtual Reality
when i got the rtx 4090 it would not be recognised at all by the Varjo headset until I installed the new nvidia driver for it. To be fair, at the moment DCS running really smooth with the 4090 at max settings so not a bother -

But not rtx 4090 compliant -
I had a 3080 and it was ok. Pretty sure 2080ti is gonna be quite limiting / frustrating for the G2. VR needs good resolution... cutting it will be very frustrating and spotting anything will be a hard task. And of course DCS evolves and every iteration is a little bit slower / more demanding (aka v2.8) so life expectancy of 2080ti in VR is counted.

I am only in VR and do not have blocky clouds. Maybe they seem blocky coming from flat screen? Only blocky clouds I see is a ‘flat’ low layer that some missions have ( like instant action free flight for F16 but also many others). Higher, bulkier clouds are super nice

@actually_fred gr8 app. Thanks a bunch for your work

Is there an API control function to trigger start dictate and end dictate ? can't get the thing to recognise what I say reliably

Hi, I noticed that on our MP server, if I have voiceAttack running the communication menu randomly appears and disappears. I tried deleting all the keybinds to the comm menu under the general and plane specific options but no change. Anyone experienced that? SOLVED: Ended up redownloading / re-installing and the erratic behaviour is gone...

Thanks Maxsenna.... it is probably that indeed..will test tonight but makes total sense

Vaicom kneeboard question... flew a campaign mission on M2000 last night and noticed that everytime there would be a transmission (awacs/flight lead etc) the kneeboard would reset to the vaicom pinned kneeboard. Regardless of what page I was on. Super annoying. Known issue or me alone?

Still have a nagging question: You say " I recommend you navigate to the latest release page: https://gitlab.com/znixian/OpenOVR/-/tree/openxr " but all I see there is a link to a openvr_api.dll which you provide a link to yourself. So not sure if there is anything on that release page that is useful to our process and needs to be downloaded ?

+1. The source of the rivers is also...well...ugly at the moment...a river grows slowly

any news on sim thread multi-threading?
Brainfreeze replied to twistking's topic in DCS Core Wish List
??? I play MP mostly and my 3080 is clearly the bottleneck in my system with frametime about 2x that of the CPU -
Hi, came across your post as I am looking to make a basic frame of the M2000 cockpit. I just need an outline for now as I fly in VR and use pointCtrl to flip virtual switches...but good to feel the panels of the cockpit. Your 2d drawing are no longer avail on the link.. can you share them again?

Has anyone got trouble with the auto-updates? mine pops up that update (for apache) are availble...seems to download/restart but then the auto-update window keeps coming back... Any idea on how to solve that is welcome.

Gr8 app. Any way to scale / place the kneeboard in VR though? Mine appears too big and in the wrong place so always have to move it then scale it...

DCS DMPS (DTC Mission Planning System) by Bailey

Fair enough Not sure how reactive they are but have to try that -
DCS DMPS (DTC Mission Planning System) by Bailey

Thnks for this Mod. Given that datacatridges are meant to be able to preplan flight plans it would make total sense to be able to plan using Combatflite. Once a flight plan is done in combatflite, the user would simply export the file from combatflite (like NS430 export file) and then import that file directly into DMPS (i.e DMPS being able to import a .dat file) or just have a 'conversion tool' to convert that NS430 (.dat) file into a .DTC file. Just a suggestion but would greatly enhance the tool -
Anyone using this mod with the M2000? does it work? Think it is not entering coord in the right format
-
1st you do not need 90fps to be smooth and fluid. 45fps is plenty. 2nd others have tried this and realised vram not that important beyond 12gb 3rd DCS is more CPU bound typically so check your frametime on CPU. Don't think worth upgrading at all... much better use the money to buy a better VR headset...that will really change your experience.

Razbam has introduced a bug by fixing another one. You cannot enter waypoints anymore at the moment (only using TOO). They will fix next release
