investigating Mission 2 experiences
Ready replied to Ready's topic in A-10C The Enemy Within Campaign 3.0
Yeah I am starting to understand. Hope it will be improved somewhere in the near future. I had a great time regardless, well thought out mission. -
Hi, I don't consider myself a lazy player and I take my time reading things through. I do expect the briefing and kneeboard pages to contain all neccessary information for navigation. Using an F10 map is not very realistic, so I also try to not use it during flight. Yes I found the working areas the next day, when I looked at the separate briefing document which I found in the campaign folder because I was trying to see if there was another source of information. The working areas were not mentioned in the briefing provided when starting the mission. There were about 20 additional maps / kneeboard pages included with the mission, most of which were not relevant to the mission at all (are they provided by the campaign, or by DCS?) None of them contained a map indicating these working areas. Regarding MOAPA: I hope you don't mean to say that not including the word MOAPA in any of the missions documents, kneeboard pages or waypoints/flight plan was an intentional issue to make me work a bit more. I had no way finding it while enroute. Even after using the menu to tell Biff I needed help I was not pointed towards Moapa. When I fly missions online and am asked to navigate to a waypoint that is not in the flight plan, I look it up in the mission database and if it is not there I look up the coordinates in the kneeboard provided. My FL never tells me that I should remember the waypoint because we had been there a week before. XRAY was an entry/exit WP to the range I think, which was also not included as a waypoint in the mission.

VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
Ready replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Hi, first I removed my VR shaders, cleared the FXO and Metashaders2 directories, followed by a repair. Then I ran one track file performance test. Track file is about 2 minutes long. Then I installed the VR shaders mod and ran the same track file again, with headset at the same position (stationary on desk) Average FPS Average GPU Framerate 1. Vanilla 55.8 16.21 2. With shaders 59.8 14.95 My observation is that the VR shaders still work for me. They get me about 7% FPS improvement and about 8% GPU Framerate improvement. -
Mission 7 was very useful with lots of practical information that can be used during almost every flight. Learned a lot about the TAD, which turns out has way more functions than I thought. Great voice-overs again and also the example drops with the vipers was really helpful. @baltic_dragonI ran into the following issues (timestaps refer to the video linked below) 12:15 Taxi (script waited for me to start rolling before continuing and giving taxi clearance) 30:08 Checkin with Blackjack, asking for clearance to ' Coyote Bravo, Charly, Delta and Caliente Alpha, Bravo and Charlie. (What are those? Not mentioned in the briefing or any map) 30:25 Given approval entry via XRAY (What is Xray?) 31:25 Wile E gives approval to 'Caliente Alpha, Bravo as well as Coyote Alpha, Bravo, Alamo Alpha and 61 Alpha and Bravo' What are those? Not mentioned in the briefing or on any map). 55:10 'Disabling a waypoint will also turn off the lines and labels and they will not turn back on when you set the waypoint to ON. In which case you will have to enable them manually'. I don't understand this. 01:33:31 Setting a WP 218 for 10 from Moapa. (Moapa is nowhere to be found in the kneeboard). 01:36:00 The F-10 radio menu help option to ask for explanation did not help finding Moapa. 02:00:35 Taxiing on Thunder yellow line, planes are parked too close. 02:01:03 Stopped at initial position but no Mission complete message.

VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
Ready replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Sorry I don't completely understand; - You mean to try with and without the shader mod I am currently using (2.7.9.17830 Taz's version)? - With and without your Migoto mod? (which version, please supply link and settings?) - You do a full repair before each MOD installation and test? (including clearing the shader folders?) - You say 'game should be tuned for lowest fps', but I always tune for highest FPS? - I am using fpsVR to record FPS and CPU and GPU Framerate data, while running a benchmark trackfile and calculate averages. This should also give a similar outcome I guess. Thanks, -
VR Shaders mod for better VR experience

Hi I am currently using Taz's shaders version, but I am happy to test. Please provide links to the mods you used in both test versions and the mod settings you had? Tnx -
The basics of successful two-ship employment
Ready replied to Kippy's topic in DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer
Such a great source of information! Thanks for writing it up and sharing it. Like your style! -
Tried it too in a hog. Just for fun. Had to execute a high altitude dive to gain enough speed to touch 500KIAS, the max I think.

They are all excellent! I am currently recording the Iron Flag. See link in my signature. I flew the Maple Flags BFT campaign as well. Highly recommended, all of them.

I find the taxi light to be very dim in VR compared to for example the hornet's taxi lights. I sometimes just keep the landing lights on because these are a bit brighter, or I switch to NVG. Is the taxi light suppposed to be dim like this? I don't know if this is a bug or if it is like this in real life as well.

Hahaha that's funny. Thanks for the comments and for your service (if I understand you correctly) You are right but I was not referring to movies. I was talking about my experience during this specific mission. I did not see anything in front of me and just a few seconds later it appeared under me. I understand this happens in real life. I guess he heard me and just crawled from under a rock or out of a cave. You quoted my first post and since then I added some explanations and had a conversation with the missions creator in this thread. My original post started out of frustration because of the combination of long travel with these spawning manpads (which of course is also how it can be in real life). Since then I also flew quite a couple of nice manpad dodging exercises, even recorded a video of myself flying around an airstrip filled with a bunch of them and dodging their missiles at very low altitude. So much fun!

missing info Targeting Pod "Wanders off"
Ready replied to Morat's topic in DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer
Yes I experience this too, which is why I try to consider the TGP when maneuvering and if neccessary just drop a markpoint. -
The Iron Flag campaign has a very nice ILS mission with good voice over explanation. I flew it yesterday, video starts at ILS part.
-
It is a very nice touch. I only noticed it in VR. Looks really nice!
-
I use the 5mil CCIP Consent to Release mode for that. Or is this better?
-
Thanks, will do!
-
Okay next time it happens will send the track.

Hi sometimes for no apparant reason the Autopilot can not be engaged anymore, while flying within AP parameters. Random errors are switched off. Cycling EAC or other systems does not help. Tried all 3 AP modes and AP switches on both the throttle and the button on the left panel.

First Impressions and some feedback on the ATC
Ready replied to MrDieing's topic in A-10C Iron Flag Part I Campaign
Good points! Noticed a couple of them too. I also strive to have it as realistic as possible, your comments are spot on. Very cool and kudos to you for acknowledging the items and giving some explanation. Understand the limitations within the sim. We are all learning here and having a good time. Great job on the campaign!
