What about the HUD symbology though with a radar lock. It was there early in release and now it’s gone...

If you are on, say, a training sortie with only a ACMI Pod and a Captive AIM-9, you do not get range and closure rate in the HUD if you lock something up on the radar. Is this correct behavior? Any chance we might someday get a functioning Cap AIM-9 which actually has a functioning seeker head (but no motor, obviously)? Thanks...

The Viper can’t make steerpoints from scratch (yet) Mission Makers need to give F-16s a stack of steerpoints to edit or else they need to pre-create a suitable flight plan that exists when pilots drop in to the jet.

Been this way for quite a while. Current engine can do nice effects using parallel light beams but can’t create shadows from multi-angle light sources. Illuminated ramp surface and on buildings is all baked on textures and not in real time.

If the SC works the same as land bases, then it should support lighting IF the mission starts during what’s still considered “Night” On our NTTR DS, we have two flavors of missions per weather pattern we use. One starts at 1930L which is after sunset but then we also have a set that start at 0430L. The latter is just barely still “night” but the lights are on as the sun is just coming up. It’s a workaround but it does work for having lights on at Dawn.

In order to see a friendly as "Blue" they have to be in the same flight as you. Individual friendlies will only show as Green. Even your wingman.

The True Vs Mag Heading May he tied to the same issue that had the Viper Autopilot tracking True Headings instead of Magnetic when it was first released. Perhaps there’s an overall core Nav function that needs looked at?

If it’s different for combat Jets, I’m willing to buy it, but in civilian aircraft, the exterior lights are available with battery power. In Cessnas and Pipers I’ve flown, the tail beacon is often left in the ON position so that it begins to flash with battery power applied as a visual clue that the plane is about to crank. Not so in combat jets?

It’s not Gamma (at least it’s not Monitor Gamma .. mine’s hardware calibrated at 2.2) The FLIR “sensor” is just getting overwhelmed and if there’s supposed to be an AGC* it’s not kicking in. (*AGC = Automatic Gain Control .. Lowers the exposure in the presence of an overly bright subject in order to maintain a nominal exposure)

One advantage to having jets “Step Up” on the reform side is that it allows the jet coming off the pipe to not have to descend at all. You only have to do a simple Cross Under to rejoin on the outside. If you happen to top off while the tanker is turning, the cross under happens naturally by just leveling your wings. Easy Peasey.
