  1. What are the sensor balls hanging off the fuselage near the rear landing gear? Why two? How can a single pilot fly the mqchine, operate shkval and two optronic sensors?
  2. IDS is the tonka variant that matters most. ADV sucked balls and the ECR would need a whole lot more work on the EW modelling side. Its not feasible. So IDS fins. Oh yeah.
  3. Just wanted to share this with you guys:
  4. I am sorry but I haven't found time and gumption to do my civic duty in filling out the rigorous test form, but on my box, DCS has been smooth as a babies' butt lately. Very happy with 2.5.5 !
  5. Have you cleaned ./saved games/DCS/FXO and ../Metashaders2/ ? If not, you should.

    Mission 1

Hi guys! I finished training on glorious MiG of 19th design on friday. Proceeded to starting of campaign. Wing people ran out fuel while I got blasted hard by dvina robot rocket. Am doing wrong? Most certainly. One who made it tell story for education and inspiration please! Za rodina!
  10. Hoo boy, that's a fun match-up! just flew this ride, and I had a hard time staying offensive on that slippery little b4st4rd ! I never managed to get saddled up but blew both away with high-aspect snapshots. 2.5.5 seems to have made the hog into a better fighter. It feels far nippier than before.
  11. have you deleted /saved games/dcs/fxo and ../metashaders2 ?
  12. Now the mystery remains, did the improvements make it in? I only tested it in a short flight so far, and it seemed smooth but not enough to say whether or not. lol ok, so they aren't. huh. Guess clearing out fxo and metashaders2 also did something then :D maybe next week? :D
  13. Also, if your rig wa previously having a hard time pushing out 45 frames, dipping to 30 and now doing 60 dipping to 45, you wouldn't readily notice the difference because ASW.
  14. we can see for ourselves in a bit. refresh.. refresh... refresh...
  15. For me, it's MiG-15. Those guns, that visibility, that agility. Pure joy.
  16. heck yea!
  17. This is my VR simpit. There are many simpits, but this is mine. I have built the pedestal from a sewer pipe and a board of wood. The throttle is on an IKEA kitchen step that has the perfect size for it. The best bit was replacing the wheels on the chair with feet, a little operation that set me back a whopping 9 euros. The (single!) oculus sensor sits right in front of the user.
  18. lol * A mind-machine interface blowing the graphics straight up your visual cortex, the G's to your inner ear and the sounds as well. * A detailed rendering of the entire world at a 2mm detail level. * Every (flying) machine ever built represented as AI units. * Unit AI that behaves like a human: is smart, has fears but can be brave, can overlook things, can spot a glint in the distance. * tactical and strategic AI making for a dynamic campaign that makes the old flacon game look like ace combat * it'll cook you dinner, wash your clothes and *** your *****
  19. Received and installed my slew upgrade today. It's awesome. Worth every penny and minute of waiting time. But then, we in this hobby know that good things come to those who wait eh :) I managed to get two AGM-65F's off in one pass in the hornet! Unmodded, I would often need five passes just to get one shot off.
  20. Ill be lapping it up. Looks great!
  21. Such short memories. Don't you guys remember Falcon 4.0? Strike Eagle III? Janes' Super Hornet? Those things were buggy as heck too. It has always been this way. Detailed flight sims are stupendously complex and there's just no way they get "completed" quickly. Real life aircraft have bugs as well, but creative ground- and aircrew find workarounds and temp fixes. But there's no duct tape for virtual aircraft. I think we should not focus on what isn't there, but enjoy what is. Razbam are working hard on harrier, and it's gon' be gud. Well it already is, but it's improving even further. Imagine, next time you want to post a vitriolic rant about a missing flare program how you would feel if it were you who has said flare program on his monday morning todo list but are having a hard time coding around some peculiar weirdness in DCS framework code? Would you enjoy being called a lazy laggard for that? So don't. Doe 'es lief (be nice for a change)
  22. Heh yeah because the multiplayer side is all that matters. I hope we get durandal, I have great memories of bombing runways with those in falcon 3.0 and 4.
  23. We'll get it when it's ready, no use trying to get a date or wanting one. That will only set yourself up for disappointment.
