What exactly does the T.2 have that the T-45 doesn't? Is it not possible to use the T-45 for "tactical training" because it has been modified for carrier ops? How does this affect the scope? I dare to say you can do all the same in both, plus the carrier ops in the 45, but nothing less.

Earth legs: Walking around. Just altered the term space legs that's around for a while in space sims

For those who don't have the time to go though the whole thing, the probably most important "nuggets": I might type this out later on so it's easier to read, initially I just took notes for myself, but I thought I could just share them

I'd love to see this as an addon module similar to the Ka-50: BS3 or A-10C II after work on the P has been done.

Ackchyually... it was a Powerpoint. At least on AMD. I remember frametimes of 3-5 minutes (yes, really) after dropping a single Mk.20 or CBU-x7, or daring to shoot the Huey's Miniguns when it just was released... on a normal day without these weapons, it ran sub-20fps and single digit in MP with all graphics to the lowest end except for textures at high since you wanted to be able to read some dials. Was a 6950 2G on a 965. Swapping the latter for a 3570 didn't help at all, only the step up to the 970 then almost did wonders. And then again, 2.x which was like a miracle. DCS took such a massive step up from there. And, to be fair, even with the latest VR performance issues, I started out with the 1080 at ~45 - 55 which I now have with literally the same settings in the Rift... that has to be credited, even though there are still lots of optimizations to be done. The real challenge on top of that is to get someone who is patient enough to have you as the GIB doing your training and sucking hard in the beginning. Since Iceman is completely broken since release and isn't even able to hold heading and altitude ("You had one job!"), that's the only possible way to learn being RIO... probably the better one anyway though. Finally someone speaks wise words of truth. Since those don't have FFB... same as VKB. Practically useless to anyone being serious about simming. Brings us to a question I would have liked to ask if I even had known about this before. As I'm not a Discord dweller, I didn't. My question would be if it would be possible for devs like ED to push hardware manufacturers to making FFB hardware again, backing their arguments with DCS "still" supporting it. I mean, it's like VR... once tried, you can't do without.

Finally the new subforum!

Was just about to post that as well. Guess I'll have to interrupt listening ti the GR interview with Simon, which is great, for a few minutes

That's also my guess on that. But they won't get around multicrew anyway. Hoping for some collab with HB here, since they've done it already. I'd absolutely love to get a VP later on. The GSh-23 is adequate for most targets as well.

That APKWS though... I hope Razbam will take that over to their Harrier since they initially said they'd add it if they manage to code it. Now they'd just have to wait for ED's implementation of that one. And the KW will have it as well

Since I don't know who you're referring to as this is your first post on this topic: I'd like to see the top streamer that runs a G1 on less than a 3570k and 1080 8G. And you didn't even tell your specs at all...

On Oculus, we could run OculusMirror.exe --RectilinearBothEyes, but how to take screenshots from that when the DCS mirror needs to be focussed to accept any input while in VR? I guess I'd have to delve into OBS recording to be able to take shots from the video that's been taken from OM... tried that once a few years ago, but failed deliberately. Too bad we can't cofigure the DCS own mirror like that. No idea to change this on SteamVR though. It's as easy as firing up the Hornet cold and dark and ready on the ramp instant actions on Caucasus and just looking around actually Especially with the shadows of the HASs it's so obvious it hurts.

I'll probably up my rig next year, something 9700Kish or equivalent plus literally everything except for drives and a graphics card, so I wonder if the G2 would run sufficiently well enough on a 1080 nonti in that until I can afford a 3080ti later on as I don't wanna do half baked things again and just get the real thing, this is DCS after all. Having the res bumped quite significantly meanwhile would make flying a lot gooder™ though.

Bought those immediately when I got my Rift as well. Wasn't able to see shit without, just as IRL. Didn't even need to see any optician or even my opthalmologist to get my diopters. That's the advantage of having prescription lenses already built into the eyes. Just had to fetch a formula from wikipedia and calculate the values myself. And that's literally a steal considering the fact you can't get a set of prescrition glasses with even one plain lens in it for <150€ as soon as you need negatives in Germany thanks to the capitalist cartels we have. But the same opticians can sell two lenses without a glasses frame around it and just some 3d printed plastic instead for much less... BTW I'd need at least 3 sets of glasses which would roughly be as much as a Reverb G2. I'd take the G2 if I had the money hooves down.

Upgraded to Rift S = absolute train wreck
Eldur replied to killerquagmire's topic in Virtual Reality
Generally, the quote-unquote visual gain of AA, SS and PD > 1.0 simply isn't worth the MASSIVE performance drop anyway. The difference is hardly visible at all, yet it could force even a Cray to it's knees. On top of it in sims like DCS, all those methods incude some kind of blur that makes it a lot harder to spot things. It's literally like buying an i7 / i9 (G9+) for almost thrice the price tag of an i5 / i7 (G9+), just for being able to disabling the HT within the BIOS which is recommended literally everywhere. I never got why people kept doing that... if all those would have given the excess money to me instead, I'd literally have all my problems in life solved at once -
I tried to run that though a translator and checked various dicts. Only result was that the word probably meant was "exeter" which translates exactly to "exeter" in my language, which didn't help me understand it at all as the only meaning of it I could find was a town in England named Exeter. Maybe you could spread yor wisdom here? BTW: You're completely wrong! CC's main use is to skyrocket the price tag of graphics cards as we all know well enough

Wikipedia might not always be the most-trustworthy site on the interwebz, but it says: I guess that the model meant by "Stinger block II". If that's correct, the thing never even made it anywhere near operational.

can not reproduce F18 rolling right with no reason
Eldur replied to slashxer's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
I'm seeing this as well since a few builds (guess it started around the SC release) and I was woondering if it was an issue with my controls or even wind affecting. Then just recently I discovered it does never happen on a hot start, all fine there. If I cold start a Hornet and fly it with no stores, it always tends to roll to the right and I have to counter trim it, and retrim it for every speed or AoA change as if I had asymmetrical stores on it - if I start it hot on ramp or runway, the thing stays perfectly level. There's definately some kind of issue here. -
The difference is massive. It's like having one's blindness cured... ED should hire this guy and pay him well, totally deserved
-
Especially consindering it is 30% off already... I wish I could get hardware to such great conditions...
-
I'm pretty sure I have that axis... but I do lack keyboard/HOTAS assignments for pulling the lever and lifting the cover. So I presume that's a custom line in the lua files I have found here, but the devs didn't take it over yet.

I've yet to get there as well. Just had her at 2.2, but leveling out at 36500 resulted in the speed actually dropping slowly, so I guess it still maxes out at around 2.15 IMN as it always has been since release. So either the speed is off, or the mach meter. The speed is literally limited by the intake ramps, which is also the reason the later D model is limited to 1.88 by reprogramming the ramps in order to reduce maintenance hours. I kinda expected that with the F-111 being able to hit M 3 with those... That happens in the Hornet as well, speed there is M 1.23. Has been explained already why As for the RAM: You bought a 9900k, a 2070 and ~130-140 for another 32GB of the RAM you have already is pricey? Even your board alone is twice that I paid the same for half of that of old DDR3 just two years ago because of the very same issue... and I can't afford a 9900k or any of the 20x0 cards (don't count anything lower than the 70 though as they're useless for DCS)... and I never paid more than 120-130 for a board I could only image you put 4x 8GB in there and therefor would have to replace them.

I just watched a few minutes from that timestamp you gave for the linked VOD. You literally blew me away, that's what it's supposed to look like IMHO. Guess I'll have to try that out now

I just tried out that bloom option in the VR tab and it seemed to be a noticable bit better in general with that on. For example I was able to read the console labels at gamma 1.6 with that on in my last flight. What I expected was some glare bloom that we probably all know of so many other titles so that we instinctly switch it off whereever we see it... Still not as good as it used to be though. I'll go and have a look at your shader set though. The first line which says "Reduced haze/foggyness on horizon skyline/terrain" alone makes it worth a try at least.
