(Dedicated campaign topic). Info + links. Hello Ladies and Gentlemen! I'm rushing with hot news for fans of the OH-58D "Kiowa Warrior" and DCS. A substantial, fully professional single player campaign (quality of paid versions or even better) will soon be coming to the DCS simulator. The campaign is intended for the Polychop Simulations OH-58D module, but you also need to have a map of Afaghanistan (the south-western part or the entire map). It is also worth adding that the campaign was created in cooperation with Ryan Robicheaux, the pilot of the Kiowa Warrior and the author of the book "Scouts out!". The campaign period is 2010. The campaign has been ready for some time, and is currently being finalized. What's most important for you, despite the large amount of my work and investment, the campaign will be available for free for fans of DCS (similarly to my previous one for the Mi-24P). You will find a full description of the campaign's manual (it will be important). The campaign will be available for download via the DCS website in User files section soon. For now, this is just a preview. The most important features of the campaign: Over dozen single player missions (14, lasting from 40 minutes to 1,5 hours gameplay of each) taking place in Afghanistan (DCS: Southwest Afghanistan map or the whole DCS: Afghanistan map is needed) Realistic, detailed scenarios, based on real events of the Operation Moshtarak (2010) and its prelude (although of course the campaign was adapted to the DCS environment and its possibilities, thus achieving a compromise between history and playability) Story driven campaign with a detailed mission introduction, voice commands and plot twists during the mission Proceeding the campaigns as the pilot of OH-58D and co-pilot/gunner/AMC Full, advanced voice package in English, even your co-pilot received his role! Several thousand lines of subtitles in English (only English is supported language) Various types of missions (also artillery guidance), including night ones Dedicated skin for Kiowa Warrior from period of Afghan war As real as it gets - cold starts only, you also need to return to the airport/FOB/FARP after the mission and special mission completion mode Auto ATC (automatic communication during takeoff and landing is used after selecting the appropriate radio) Prepared briefings (description of the situation and tasks), full documentation, graphics and photos Important data in the pilot's kneeboard Summary (including tips and tricks) in the manual, check it before the flight ;)! FPS friendly (tested in VR too), only the most necessary units plus the surroundings Custom background’s music created for this campaign (after successful completion of the campaign online access to the soundtrack) I'm aiming to release it in June this year, so now you have a great time to refresh your memory of the OH-58D ! The campaign is out now: DOWNLOAD LINK CAMPAIGN: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3345522/ DOWLOAD LINK SKIN: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3345514/ NOTE (important!): Before starting the campaign, be sure to read the whole manual ("Manual campaign OH58D") in the DOC folder, The path: DCS World\Mods\campaigns\OH-58D - Through the desert dust\Doc (folder) or directly after downloading in a zip file. There is a situational description (the most important historical background) as well as a method for installing the campaign, skin and user tips and FAQ. Btw. You can ask questions about the plot in this thread, or seek advices, but if you want to reveal the plot, it would be nice to use a "spoiler window" so as not to reveal the mission's assumptions and so that others can enjoy it as much as you do:

I gave Polychop a vote of confidence for the first time and I regret about 30% of the purchase of pre-ordering. The Kiowa flight model is very fun to fly and I really liked that. The sounds seem very low. I don't know if it was recorded from the real aircraft like the modern modules. This aircraft should be sold with early access because of the points below. Things that need to improve A LOT. 1 - External textures seem to be in low resolution. 2 - External model very low in polygon count. It looks like the modules released about 8 years ago in DCS. It doesn't have the same level of detail as the modern modules. 3 - The animation of the ammunition when firing the .50 doesn't exist. The ammunition doesn't move in the ammunition belt and it doesn't empty when all the ammunition in the .50 is used up. 4 - There is no damage model like the Mi-8, Huey, Apache among others. You can see in the video that the aircraft is indestructible. If all these things were resolved before release the module would be worth full price.

EUROPEAN BASED - 13th CAB - Combat Aviation Brigade Part of CJTF-13 Joint Task Force Recruiting AH-64D and OH-58D Pilots and CPGs We follow real-life procedures as closely as possible, we use strict radio communications, and train HARD to get to a high level of virtual flying! This type of flight simming is not for everyone, because it requires a certain mindset, time commitment, and motivation to do it right - like holding a stationary hover, applying tactics, and radio communications. If you are looking for short, action-packed missions that are all about killing tanks and risking the helicopter, 13th CAB is NOT the place for you. the 13th CAB is THE PLACE TO BE if: - You are looking for realistic, in-depth planned events that include fighter jets. - You are willing to train in parade and tactical formations. - You are prepared to train the basics like hovering and radio comms to the extent that they become muscle memory and automatisms. - You can take just as much pride in a successful mission without a shot fired, but a safe landing back home, as one with 16 enemy vehicles destroyed. 13th CAB staff provides organized training events and supports you on the way to becoming mission-qualified. The 13th CAB holds its weekly Mandatory Event on SUNDAY @ 1945 CE(S)T (Summer Time 1745Z, Winter Time 1845Z). The 13th CAB holds its weekly Training Sessions on Thursday @ 2030 CE(S)T (Summer Time 1830Z, Winter Time 1930Z). The minimum requirements for joining the 13th CAB are as follows: – Being PROACTIVE, willing to read study material and perfect your skills in your own time, outside of regular training events – Being able to conduct a stationary hover pedal-turn to maneuver around tight forward bases (FOB and FARP). – Demonstrating basic experience using the navigation, sensor, and weapons systems. – Able to speak and understand proficient ENGLISH; communication is key to success, we need to understand each other – Using HOTAS or HOCAS and pedals, as well as head tracking or virtual reality – Owning the aircraft module of your choice and required maps (see CJTF-13 recruitment post) If you are interested in joining us please visit our website or join our discord and simply contact one of our recruitment officers (with CJTF Staff tag) Website: https://tawdcs.org/battalion/cjtf Discord: https://discord.com/invite/tawdcs If you have any questions, feel free to ask here or directly message me on Discord: my ID tag is @eteokles

Welcome to Joint Task Force 191 - Task Force Jupiter! JTF-191 was formed in June of 2020 and is composed of 13 squadrons with 60+ active members. We operate as a milsim group with an emphasis on realism and joint operations with all branches of military aviation. We have a detailed training program for all new pilots that focuses on teaching a working knowledge of the airframe and relevant tactics. Our training is built to both teach new pilots about their chosen airframes or to provide refreshers to experienced pilots. With detailed courses on everything from take-off and landings to air-to-air tactics, the training program is designed to ensure you are comfortable in your role and up to the task of joining our ranks. Upon finishing your training, you are placed into an operational squadron with a custom livery made just for you. Each squadron handles their own training, keeping their pilots skills up to par with the unit standards. We have several dedicated servers that are up 24/7 and a unit-wide mission night every Saturday. Saturday missions range from fun PvP missions to organized pre-planned sorties built in an ongoing deployment campaign. We are always actively looking for pilots to fly with us! We are looking for: Pilots for the F/A-18, F-16, F14B (RIO’s too!), A-10, and the AV8B Mission planners of any experience C2 Personnel (AWACS, GCI, Marshall/ATC) Instructor pilots to strengthen our training program Developers Our basic requirements to join: Be at least 18 years of age Have a cockpit visualization set-up (Pit build, TrackIR, VR, etc.) Hands on Throttle and Stick (HOTAS) Be able to make required time commitments, approx. 2-3 nights a week for 2 hours at 2000EST, including mission nights on Saturday (we are flexible). Have a good attitude and willingness to learn! Click HERE to apply on our website! We will respond to you promptly.

Hi, I am wondering if OH-58D can share the tactical information over Apache in DCS? Thanks.

New model (AI) of Kiowa: OH-58D(R), hasnt any external sound (just wind), no rotor sound. I'm giving this here because it relates to DCS as a platform. I do not have the OH-58D module from Polychop-Simulations. test.trk

Polychop-Simulations Valued Customers and Polychop Simulations fans, Christmas is about to happen, and we decided to talk a bit about the past year 2017 and the future year 2018. First of all, we want to thank all our customers for the support, which is important for any company to exist. We’re still here and making great products for simulators so you guys must like something we’re doing and that makes our team very happy; thank you from the Polychop family to yours. Briefly, I’ll dive into some issues Polychop faced in 2017. As all of you have witnessed, we have gone through internal issues, that already developed in 2016. As many companies face the same issues in the beginning, there are possible routes to take and not every member agrees on the same course. As was the case for us. We wanted to keep Polychop as a cohesive team, that way we could devote every ounce of our energy into building great products rather than internal strife. Therefore, with best wishes, we wished our former CEO Oliver Michel goodbye and agreed on giving him the BO105 project, which is now run under Miltech-5. We still wished to release more products because we are confident, as a team that we can provide some of the best simulation software available so in 2016, we started a new project in secret to avoid the pressure of rushing out an un-prepared product and could focus energy on improving the Gazelle. Although many things that were stated during the past 9 month are not correct and painted a wrong picture I never felt the need to make a direct statement to any interviews, trailers, or anything that showed codework of Polychop Simulation nor had Patrick any intent to brag about it. This is still the case and so I can only state that for the remaining Polychop Simulation Staff, we are glad this split was finalized before the end of 2018 and that we do not have to deal with the BO105 and the development anymore. Sadly, due to contractual disagreements, we were not able to accept the conditions discussed between Polychop and Miltech-5 to continue work on the BO-105 jointly. We utilized most of 2017 to really hone the Gazelle and our other projects. The Gazelle itself really saw a lot of attention and re-coding to help mature several key improvements. Flight model, textures, and much proprietary framework was poured over until we reached a point where not only the simulation pilots felt happy, but also a beta team comprised of actual helicopter pilots said they were satisfied with the product. There are a few details that are still being evaluated and we are still collecting data in these areas. Some is easier, some is not. For example, we did look into the cyclic behavior again, but currently there is no data available regarding how many degrees the cyclic is pushed forward proportionall to forward airspeed. Many factors collate into this problem including control rigging and wind. Given how our testing staff has very limited time to devote to testing (dare I say, actual Gazelle pilots?) we determined that some of these issues were not worth the effort put into fixing them. Not because it wasn’t important to us, but because it wasn’t cost effective or prudent to do so. We also planned to have a new device implemented into the SA342M Viviane Gazelle. The new device was a periscope that is available in the real machine, but do to framerate break-downs using the periscope and the tv, which would both be active at the same time, we decided to not implement this feature. Framerate management is as important to a developer as smooth textures or appealing visuals. If we can’t implement some feature due to framerates, it hinders the experience for the end-user. I can only provide an example: On an average system, the simulation see’s 30 FPS with an activated TV. With the TV and periscope activated, the best we could benchmark was 15 FPS. Because of this, we couldn’t agree to implementing it. We didn’t want to throw a new feature in that was not usable and improve the customers experience. A picture of the periscope was shown on our facebook page earlier. To clear the air about it: no, it is not a periscope of a EC665 Tigre HAD. Sadly, we finally also decided to scratch the sniper version for now and probably for good, because in DCS there is no real use of a sniper and would only be able to hit soft targets at a max range of 300m. Instead, we decided to change the sniper version to a minigun version that, if it works out well, would be accessible as multicrew. This is what we plan as an update for the Gazelle in 2018, but we have no timeframe yet when this will exactly happen, because it also depends on the core coding. This and multi-crew both require more information from Eagle Dynamics before we can really improve those features. We will continue to work closely with Eagle Dynamics to help make the Gazelle a smooth and effective product. Looking to the future and into 2018, as already mentioned, we gave away the BO105 project so we can’t guarantee a release for 2018. The split ate a lot of resources and time unfortunately, but for 2018 we already have a strong game plan. replace all of that with this: We are a small team, but many of our core testers are actual pilots, some with military obligations and can only provide energy and time as available. Thankfully, our testers and core employees who have some insight into the exciting projects in the future and want to see these projects to completion as badly as many of you. We want to extend a grateful and humbled thanks to all the talented people who applied for the programmer’s slots. Our first actions for 2018 will be interviews with the individuals that applied. We really want to grow our programmer department to produce faster code to devote more time and resources for the detail tuning. About the programming, I had to learn that the fine-tuning is about 30% of the coding, which Patrick already knew. We’re working with Eagle Dynamics and, in 2018, an aircraft manufacture to fine-tune our code process and produce a product with a higher degree of fidelity. The team at Polychop loves anything that flies and particularly, anything that spins. Therefore, we want to branch into the interesting realm of civilian aviation and hopefully see some of our loyal customers on other platforms. We just haven’t decided which yet and want to make a smart choice. Our team is so small that any time we devote into a project is going to be about quality, not quantity and the choice of a non-military simulator must provide the company with the resources to continue improving with technology. About fixed wing products, we cannot say much because our team is still too small to work on fixed wing in addition. This might change through the course of 2018. And finally, we hope to open a Polychop discord channel so you, our loyal customers, are able to interface and receive direct input with the developers, testers and people who desire you’re raw input. So maybe now and then we will have a friendly chat. At the end I also want to send out a personal note of acknowledgment to the people that supported the current development in the background. Without these friends, this would have not gotten as far as it already has and the community of this bird is amazing. My girlfriend might have to buy me a Stetson one day when we visit friends overseas. That said, I put up a rendering of the 3d model in a state that it has been earlier this year without textures. Currently, we are not sure yet into which simulation this 3d model will be implemented in the end, but it will happen. So, thank you for reading and your continued support. In the end, our goal here at Polychop is to provide you with the most realistic and immersive product that we can. We wish all of you and your families a delightful Christmas season 2017 and a good jump into the year 2018! Your Polychop Simulation Team Bye Phant
