zaelu Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Based on what exacly? If anything the opposite is true since the CTD hornet has had a gameplay preview while the ED hornet had a few meager screenshots I can make you a game play of F-18C... with AI. The plane is in the game! Someone can make a super game play movie with super music (seriously) for the DHC-6 Twin Otter mod. Gauges are working... it has a sort of AFM... you could capture some cool landings in wind, etc... and people would think... OMG... super. This mod if you don't know it. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1228636/ Sometimes things are like in magic shows... smoke and mirrors. Think of this... why would a developer of such complex aircraft spend/waste time to model in early stages that complex pilot model they presented a while ago? Makes no sense, right? Most probably it was bought from the mesh market. But... then why brag about it? Is just a 200$ model... I could buy it... Keneys bought one... anybody can buy it... so? Then the movies... one was pulled off even because people didn't like the lack of info it has. One movie once a year... There are some voices that say that the F/A-18E model they had was flawed and was probably just a place holder... so maybe all they did was the codding. Of what? AFM? Do you think they had a AFM? I wold not bet a cent on that. ATG Radar? Not possible. ED has to put it in game first then the rest will license it most probably. Then what they had? Lights? Brakes? Some HUD animations? Seriously. It's like in poker. The opponent says I have good hand... you say I call... he says... I fall... So you believe he maybe had a very good hand? emg Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 I agree. I wonder how the Eurofighter is going to be modeled and I fear the same situation. Not the same situation, they have a military contract, 3rd party license and a contract with ED to make the EF.
Nate--IRL-- Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Obviously this has zero chance of progressing without AG Radar(which is on ED) Nothing stopping anybody adding their own radar code to a module. But I cannot clearly see the advantage for CTD to play such a game (if they did): at the end the bad cards are always visible ........... Best regards, Willem
Abburo Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 I also think the pot was too big for CTD to handle. Not being an ED 3rd party I am afraid they did not have access to EFM... and from here a lot of other implications. There are some rules changed recently, with good implications to overall quality of modules. Some criteria have to be met to became and agreed 3rd party partner for ED. All I hope now is that CTD will reevaluate their strengths and be able to come back to this community with some new feasible plans. For me is obviously that F18 was a hat a little bigger than they can wear. Romanian Community for DCS World HW Specs: AMD 7900X, 64GB RAM, RTX 4090, HOTAS Virpil, MFG, CLS-E, custom
Greekbull Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 That is nonsense, CTD was still at least a couple of years from releasing. WAAAY after ED with C-model no matter how you look at it. More likely CTD had to stop since they were doing only part-time, did not have enough resources and/or information and so on. So practical issues mostly, nothing political. I hope that's the case. From what I had seen released(not that much has been released) it looked as though CTD was ahead of ED in development. If it's something major hopefully ED can take over the project. SkateZilla Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 The SuperBug is a 3rd Party Project, The Legacy isnt. By that fact alone you cannot use CTDs progress as a meter to judge ED as they are completely different. upupandaway Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Some people were following this project for 3 years and were looking forward to it... Been there... Bullfrog_ Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Bear in mind that what you have been allowed to see isn't necessarily all that exists. What have you seen that shows that it doesn't. When it comes down to it, we don't know what stage of the development they are at. If you want to be a optimist, or a pessimist.. that's up to you, but neither knows enough to tell the other who's right and who's wrong.
Devil 505 Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 (edited) Cortex Designs Where did the sub thread go under DCS MODS? Its not there anymore. I just read on their facebook page the project has been put on hold. This does not sound very promising. Hope it is just a minor snag. Edited February 8, 2015 by robert.clark251

Greekbull Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 ED doesn't need somebody else's projects. Well someone needs to put up the Super Hornet if CTD drops it. It was by far the most appealing future plan on the horizon to me and I'm sure I'm not alone. I'm excited for the C model but the E is just a bit more appealing. Guess we'll see... Hopefully someone gets a new plane out this year that's not 40+ years old... MacEwan Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 If it's only a temporary hold would it be possible to keep that section of the forum up and just lock it down instead? That way the info about the product is still there and it wouldn't turn into useless chatter.
lazduc Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Several countries are currently flying strikes into their respective enemy airspace. They are flying F-16 and F-18 types and probably others but One may conclude that releasing any information on your aircraft abilities would be detrimental.
