Wait, what? Are we getting a Garmin module? When and where was this announced?

I wonder how updated the databases and software will be for the Garmin! I use it almost daily in RL, so this will be exciting to try out in DCS.

It is quite small, so I wonder how fiddly it will be to use inside the sims cockpits.

Intel i7-950 @stock, Asus P6X58D-E, 3x4GB Corsair Vengeance, Asus GTX 580, Corsair 120GB SSD, Corsair HX 750W PSU

G430 is a handy unit for civilian ops but I wonder what purpose it has within DCS? Does any of the current or planned modules have a 430 installed as part of their actual avionics? Seems a strange addition for a combat simulator...

Regarding database as long as it matches the current Nevada navaids/frequencies in DCS there will be no need to update it.

I5 2500k@4.4ghz, GTX980 OC, 16gb Gskill 12800 DDR3 ram, ssd. Thrustmaster warthog, CH pedals. Track ir 4p

It might be related to the fact that 2.5 will support multimap.

So maybe more people will invest in map production for civil flight, yes pleaseeee!

I'll love to IFR/VFR around any of DCS aircraft.

AFAIK a private Mig21 with G430 might be appear strange landing in SFO.

Well whaddya know... I skimmed through the newsletter, but seemingly missed that part since I was kind of busy at the moment! Anyway thanks for the link, gonna buy this on day one

Buy what? The Garmin? I thought it will be added for free to certain modules.

Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit

DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

Haven't had the time to F5 lately, plus really did read the newsletter too fast so missed this particular tidbit. But where does it say it's free? To develop a facsimile of a complicated GPS nav device costs money, plus Garmin may want some £$€ too. Just speculating though...

There are plenty of aircraft for that three letter sim which have Garmin's and I don't recall them being any more expensive.

It's not said that it will be free, that's just what I thought.

Btw, I am not saying that ED isn't, or shouldn't, charge for this. There is obviously work involved. I am just pointing out that Garmin has worked with other relatively small software houses without, apparently, making it noticeable more expensive.

i think GPS is a common thing now a days.. will help out the new DCS new comers!

You need to keep in mind that's not a GPS like you know it from your car. Very probably the new players will have to learn stuff for that.

If you can't get around to learn radio navigation, you probably won't get around to learn the GPS.

I'm pretty certain it can do so.. as long as you enter the coordinates. :music_whistling:
