No torrent option here. It went straight to FTP and d/l was pretty fast too.

Known issue yes, but they've never said why it's happening; sounds like they may know now why so they know what to change to make it stop.
The same info was in the patch notes under known issues for the patch last week that "reintroduced" the deck sliding... and before, at least for the F/A-18C, it was pretty much fixed.

So they are very aware of the root cause, but I guess need to prioritize currently.

Nice job with the patch ED, back to my 45 FPS in free flight Blackshark PG. I have to say though I think the level of detail is outstanding when flying over the towns and cities, I never really took much notice before as I mostly play online and am too involved in the mission at 20,000 + to notice the scenery.

OK I'm coming back to report POORER performance on my end. If really needed I can upload tracks but I just tried the Instant Action coldstart F16 Nevada and it is HORRENDOUS.

Honestly I feel its worse... and though I have no fancy graph or benchmarking I can say from my eyes this one is REALLY bad.

Also Voice attack seems to be crackling the audio when combined with DCS. There is no way around it. Since last 2.6 update my audio with VA is atrocious. (See Bugs-> Performance -> my post for more on this)

this small patch will start to help with FPS but we still have more work to do.

Main thing was getting this landing crash fixed.

thanks

Yeah, it does on my rig. Flew pretty nicely, it did. :pilotfly:

still no lights for night landings on the stennis, damn some sort of public bug tracker would be highly welcome

Not sure what you mean by no lights for the Stennis? They work fine for me, just make sure you are calling inbound in the ATC menu option on 127.500. The first three or four landings I did were on NVGs and a PITA! Then one of the guys I fly with told me to request Inbound on the ATC menu and sure enough they turned the lights on for me. If you abort inbound the lights get turned off, did that to the same guy that told me to turn them on as he was trying to land...

Definite FPS increase - after every Beta Drop, I load up the same instant action mission with the Anton, free flight over Normandy, and then a mission I created with Persian Gulf and A-10C.

Fly the same path for both. The Normandy/Anton one, I run the "Free Flight" and follow a small river towards some fuel storage tanks. low level, tree top. Last few updates high 20's up to 35 ish.

This patch, never dropped below 35, and stayed up in the 40's and 50's over same path!!! Still get the Normandy "stutter" though, but very much an improvement. The Persian Gulf instance would run 80's, today low 100's!

My graphics settings for reference included pic.

Running GTX 1660 overclocked, Ryzen 7, 32 GB RAM on all tests. Dual monitor, Head Tracking.

Well done!!!

A minor error message (file in use error) before the latest patch download started (22/04/20), which self resolved, then straight to HTTP download (no torrent). Was the quickest D/L I've ever had from ED's servers. Maxed out my NBN bandwidth at ~6.5 Mb/s here in Australia. A pleasant surprise indeed.

This had me fooled. I was playing one of the DCE campaigns. I was playing for more than an hour straight. When I exited I was surprised to realize that I forgot to switch back to my stable 2.5.5 installation before playing the campaign. Good job ED!

i am on OB, and of course i called in on the correct frq and this worked for some time, but since (lets say to patches ago) the deck lights do not turn on for me, as for my friends as well, hazard lights and other lights are always on at the stennis.

did you actually try them with the latest OB?

Until no longer needed, I can redo the test with the Anton/Normandy "free flight" mission at tree top, and record results here, and compare to my last post with my graphics settings.

This seems to really tax everything, at tree top level, scanning around, with lots of geometry in my FOV, I even fly through the large smoke clouds from burning structures.

Since I have a "mid range" machine, it could be useful information.

But as mentioned, this last patch significantly boosted performance!

I don’t know about infantry scenarios etc., but for me there is no change. All the usual 3 or 4 scenarios I test still show horrible CPU frame times of 30+ms at times in VR.

Correct VR fps is reported and being worked on, as is other fps and AI route finding issues.

thanks

The latest patch or even the entire 2.5.6 is no different than 2.5.5 performance-wise for me. Plays without issues on a high graphics settings. Can average 60fps with all the eye candy turned on except the new SSLR on my low hardware.

However, I get reduced performance in VR which is the mode I play dcs regularly compared with 2.5.5 openbeta.

My cpu and gpu frame times goes into 30s(red) on a low graphic settings. With the vr shaders mod, I get by quite nicely.

Keep on with the fixes ED especially in vr.

Cheers.

I too can run 2.5.6 the same as 2.5.5 when it comes to normal free flight. Are you testing with AI in the area. I don't mean an AI target. I mean watching AI move about on the ground around you, taxi past you etc. Have you tested in a WWII mission involving bomber escort where there are numerous AI in the air. My frames will drop greatly just watching AI taxi by me on the runway. It will seesaw up and down 20 or more frames. In a WWII mission escorting planes my frames will drop from 100 down to below 20 or even single digits.
