Not even a post or reply in 4 months. No updates in even longer. I'm kind of giving up hope on this one. I know these things take time and can't be rushed, and I appreciate the size of the team but also recognize how much of their work has already been done.

I need a little inspiration, or something to spark hope. Who's got any?

I prefer to not think about future dcs modules, I find my inspiration on the learning of existing modules … at the moment fully enjoying the F-4E, which is absorbing all of my dcs time 🙂 … I’m sure I will enjoy the A-7 too, but for me there is no point on thinking about it when it isn't yet on the store.

Normally I might agree, but for the past few month after a move for work, I have been without my HOTAS and chair mount setups. All I have is mouse and keyboard. I have hte F4 (only one I ever preordered) but I can't even fly it yet. Le sigh.

Yeah, waiting for announced modules in DCS is like staring at a ticking clock. Time goes by faster by doing something interesting like @Rudel_chw suggested.

There is no piece of software that thought me more patience than DCS.

On the other hand, if I was a creator of DCS modules I would be concerned about my priduct if a community patiently waits for it without asking for news. So I think you did the right thing, @RodentMaster, fwiw.

Hopefully we'll get an awesome "end of the year" report like last year.

I recommend the video of HIP about it. Last year we had reported WIP on 18 FF modules (19 if one includes SAAB Draken form HB). No counting here ED and Razbam modules from obvious reasons.
Since a year no slightest progress report in any of them (The exception is polychop with his Kiowa). Not a single word. Correct me if I'm wrong here.

Hmmm! You are correct!

Don't worry too much, they're also busy releasing other products for other sims.  Not like they are packing their bags and quitting the business.  Go over to their discord, they're still very active.  Even though I don't do those sims the stuff they just released is most impressive.

While I look forward to the A-7 and A-6 one day, I am enjoying the F-4E. It has been challenging and fun. Before you know it, the module will be out. Rudel is correct about while you wait fly something you have already.

While I fully get (and used to want) to see progress video's, etc - I eventually found that they created more disappointment in the end. Extended release dates, etc. I liked how PC did a teaser "2 weekstm" out of the blue, and then proceeded to release it in 2 weeks. That stood out for me as the better way to go about doing these things.

A bit of community interaction definitely doesn't hurt - but I'm kinda over the 'hype' of promising, showing cool stuff, and then a seemingly never ending wait for it to arrive. I've kinda adjusted my expectations myself now anyway - but PC's launch still impressed me with the way they handled it.

I predict Summerof 2026 or even 2027. These guys are not a mega studio. Pretty sure they are working on it when they have time. They also restarted to boot.

Once there was a little Helo called "Kiowa". Announced a long, long time ago. Long enough to make people in the community claiming it will never come.

Most of these probably enjoying the Kiowa now.

Yeah, I know these two cases aren't totally comparable. But there is a baseline in which they all are. These small teams often work on their modules after daytime jobs. With everything that comes with this fact. Not being able to code today cause the child is sick. Or you are invited to a birthday. Developers leaving the project for a given time or forever, cause their live has changed. There are many things happening in these small teams, and every single one affects them way harder than a bigger team like Heatblur or ED itself.

I feel your frustration, I really do. (Looking at the F4U ). But I understand that a timeframe of 5 years is nothing for such small teams.

The Kiowa is going to be lit in the new Iraq map and the Afghan map (when they release).

They're pretty active pumping out MSFS2020 aircraft. So that appears to be their priority, not the Corsair.

Reformers hate him! This one weird trick found by a bush pilot will make gunfighter obsessed old farts angry at your multi-role carrier deck line up!

Maybe, just spitballing here, FlyingIron releases development updates that cover the entire previous year's worth of work on the A-7.  Because that's exactly what they have done the past two years.  The year is almost over, and I assume FI will hold to the established pattern and give us an in-depth writeup of all the systems and modelling they have been working on during 2024.

Remember 90% of previous simulators have only ONE single platform. And they were very much enjoyable, because the enviroment (proper era map, dynamic campaign, engaging air/ground/sea units AI, ATC and GCI interaction etc.) is what makes everything fun and engaging.

Not yet another platform, when we already have more than any other simulator had before. A-7E will be great, but there is no point to 'actively' wait.
