As an offline player, to me, netcode is not that important, but updated content is. If they need to fix the netcode, they can work on that in parallel.

When they feel its ready they'll release it.

They released the whole DCS A-10C when they thought it was ready , look what happened , and we're still waitin over a year later .

Not moaning, not complaining... just eagerly awaiting DCS updates. Heck, I am willing to pay for new stuff, too. :)

And no, it's not about MP vs SP patch management. I just believe that netcode shouldn't holdup other content. I bet if it was the other way round, e.g. "we haven't gotten the 3D cockpit for plane XYZ just right, so we're pushing the netcode update back until further notice", people would be up in arms. :)

Long story short -- there's nothing wrong with incremental patches.

But that would make sense... a cockpit is just an art asset. Netcode is all about how each players plane interacts with other planes and the environment and that sounds indivisible between SP and MP as both contain the same elements (planes, armour, missiles, etcetera).

I just don't think it's as easy as doing separate patches or handing out fixes one thing at a time. Given the fidelity of the DCS World game in general, I'm quite happy for ED to continue focusing on a very high quality standard.

With that said, I'm really quite worried about modules. If netcode is an issue in a patch, could that possibly become more and more complicated as each module is introduced? I'm getting a little worried that the underlying architecture won't live up to the dream... and that this ongoign 'all on one server' compatibility will become undoable.

But then I shut up, am thankful for A-10C and stop posting in this thread altogether :D

For me is the same game as Lock On... how long is that? +10 years? I can't remember. But I do understand that it moves slow... is not like a team the size of microsoft is working on it, with same budget. It is annoying, but in the end... that's what it is.

Just looking at what microsoft produces and you can go: "pffft" and relax.

BTW. I play with just 3 friends online and didn't get "net problems". Just AAA problems but...

They don't have a host of teams churning titles out. They're working with what they've got, and granted it's a lot better than most can ask for - but for the quality they've managed, I think that's more than acceptable.

I don't always openly list my things. But when I do, I put it in my signature.

Maybe you can get a lemon law enacted for software programs that never work as advertised?

So, like automobile, if they can't fix it within a few months then they'll send you a new and still broken game! WooOOOO. :D

ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

You dont need one, it is this one reason why software and movie piracy has such a big following, the amount of crap churned out (and I dont mean DCS).

With XBOX 720 they plan on stopping second hand game sales, well there better be a returns policy for games which just dont deliver.

As far as the other comparison to a car, in terms of buying A-10C and going back to the garage you are still waiting, waiting for what??

Its more like you bought a tree from the garden centre and because it isnt big enough to build your kids a tree house and it doesnt provide a bumper crop of cider apples every year you complain.

Despite only flying the shark, I have purchased all content up to P51d beta in support. I will not purchase the remaining or future modules untill I feel significant improvement has been made to the neglected core product. We have patiently waited so so long for significant issues to be addressed, lets hope they get it right soon ?

A bit difficult under Australian Law... returning of any software after the packaging has been opened is unavailable. Only thing to rely on is any return policy contained within the EULA. In that you have to go through the publisher and not the retail outlet, which opens up a huge can of worms.

Actually, be honest ... it's a veiled complaint ;).

Also, you're right, there's nothing wrong with incremental patches, however your idea of what an 'increment' obviously differs from ED's as you outline the detail of how it 'should' be according to you ...

You know what I reckon? I reckon creative 'producing' individuals must have a gut-full of this sort of 'free' advice.

"A true 'sandbox flight sim' requires hi-fidelity flyable non-combat utility/support aircraft."

Wishlist Terrains - Bigger maps

Wishlist Modules - A variety of utility aircraft to better reflect the support role. E.g. Flying the Hornet ... big yawn ... flying a Caribou on a beer run to Singapore? Count me in. Extracting a Recon Patrol from a hastily prepared landing strip at a random 6 figure grid reference? Now yer talking!

We paid on time, but we not have anything at all to be quiet.

In fact we do not have a stable support. We have only ruined FC2 multiplayer, because everyone moved to FC3 which is not developing.

Than sell people what they can not use and do not communicate with the public, is it now the embodiment of the project?

I think that these massive projects require higher feedback from the developers, and we need to know what we waiting and why we waiting so long time.

Such a bunch of whiners. There is a lot of stable DCS World patches. No one is forcing you to update.

And it's hilarious some people are crying about the lack of information when there is a section with only official updates. And the last update is like a week old. You want a daily weather forecast from ED's office aswell? You bought a product, not exclusive insight in ED's office.

You have to cash up a bit more to get that access.

Indeed. Claiming that ED have not told us why we are waiting is ridiculous. They've been updating us weekly of late. That's actually pretty good of them IMO.

As far as I'm concerned, the game has worked almost perfectly most of the time I've had it. Recent problems with smoke, explosions and MP stability are a shame. But they do appear to be working on these issues.

Does anyone actually imagine that their posts will result in a release of more information or that they will speed up the release of a patch? Would the case be different with any other developer in that regard?

DCS is far from being perfect, but we it's far from being pure crap. I think they is a few with some negative mood. Beside MP and (recents) slowdowns with fragmentation munition, the game works just great and is more stable than a lot of product i've tested from various place. ED keeps adding stuff and do their best fixing issues.

They is several games i bought which the developpers simply ditched after release, because the game was unplayable as it and a Patch would not even help. (In the latest sim I tried. : cliffs of dover - Artic circle - SH4.......)

Here we got ED fully supporting us, a large team of passionate testers that try to help everyone here without payroll, or teaching us some technics.....

We can be frustrated customer (we paid for something) on the other hand- we cannot accuse ED of not reacting.

Honestly i don't regret any cents i gave to the company.

Im shocked at how many people seem to think debugging a major netcode problem is as easy as running spelling and grammar check in MS Office. IT Isnt.

Crap, there go my plans to release my multiplayer flight sim later this month. I thought i had it all figured out as well.

I think it'd be good to implement big notification always when update is being made. User would have to click on it to disappear.

Then even biggest n00bs would be informed :D

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D
