hi pilots,

 

i havent found something similiar on the forum search, so if there is something already and i didnt found it my appologice.

 

wags was so kind to start the weekly news update, and thats much appreciated.

 

i was wondering, what topics of information the users would be interested in, although it has to be clear, that the official updates are decided by ED, and not by this poll.

 

so tell us what you are interested in!

 

(i left 3rd party developments out, as the news about those should be given by there respective developers as far as the NDA allows them.)

Sorry if I skewed your poll. I ticked everything, as I just find it interesting to know what's going on and how it's going. Specifically, I'm probably most interested in the F/A 18, although I don't know detailed information about most aircraft beyond "I think it's cool".

 

The discussion threads about the updates seem to be some of the more active parts of the forum, and it's interesting to see what people think of as good and bad updates. Many people seem to only want their "thing" to be developed and nothing else.

The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine!

I have to repeat: Any news!

 

Also, when reading some comments in update discussion threads, I don't think people appreciate those friday updates enough. I know you all want edge, hornet and everything ASAP, but I think the idea that we're getting regular updates about what's happening in dev team is better than 3 months of silence. Please understand that when there's nothing to show, we can't get any news.

EDGE, bugs, & dedicated server, would be first priority for a company who has 3rd partys developing modules on it.

I voted F/A-18 before I realized it was a multiple poll (RTFP man!)

 

Anyhow, I am definitely a fan of more information is better on all topics.

 

I know Matt's hands are tied on what can be shared from a corporate standpoint. We are often a fickle group - we thirst for every drop of information we can get regarding future developments. We love it when that thirst is quenched and revolt when the knowledge isn't accurate or changes due to the nature of software development. I completely understand the conservative approach taken by ED regarding announcements and while I don't particularly like it, believe it is appropriate for the masses.

 

I'm sure all of us have a pet project we absolutely want ED to finish and release to us ... mine is F/A-18. The notion of calling the ball and catching the 3-wire in a high fidelity simulation gets me charged up. I thirst for any shred of intelligence regarding that title.

 

Until that nirvana happens, I will patiently wait for the Friday updates and be pleasantly surprised when ED starts releasing Bug information as that indicates we are getting close to release.

The thing is, helicopters are different from planes. An airplane by it's nature wants to fly, and if not interfered with too strongly by unusual events or by a deliberately incompetent pilot, it will fly. A helicopter does not want to fly. It is maintained in the air by a variety of forces in opposition to each other, and if there is any disturbance in this delicate balance the helicopter stops flying; immediately and disastrously.

I ticked EDGE & new maps. I don't believe there would be much to share from ED's part on the F/A-18C at the moment since it's probably still in it's early stages. Maybe just a conformation that there will be a new HD Nimitz class carrier along with carrier ops.

Edge of course and new maps.

Solid trees that are not see through by AI are my biggest want as these seriously limit a helicopters flight and attack regimes. Solid trees without helicopter destroying leaves would be even nicer!

Nevada = no trees but at least the AI and I are on a more even footing.

HP G2 Reverb (Needs upgrading), Windows 10 VR settings: IPD is 64.5mm, High image quality, G2 reset to 60Hz refresh rate. set to OpenXR, but Open XR tool kit disabled.

DCS: Pixel Density 1.0, Forced IPD at 55 (perceived world size), DLSS setting is quality at 1.0. VR Driver system: I9-9900KS 5Ghz CPU. XI Hero motherboard and RTX 3090 graphics card, 64 gigs Ram, No OC... Everything needs upgrading in this system!.

Vaicom user and what a superb freebie it is! Virpil Mongoose T50M3 base & Mongoose CM2 Grip (not set for dead stick), Virpil TCS collective with counterbalance kit (woof woof). Virpil Apache Grip (OMG). MFG pedals with damper upgrade. Total controls Apache MPDs set to virtual Reality height. Simshaker Jet Pro vibration seat.. Uses data from DCS not sound... goodbye VRS.

edge info would be a priority for me. its been a long time since we have heard of any official updates on this. plus, I do believe that the introduction of edge soon would be the logical step seen the amount of development being done on other modules.

I dont see "Anything" on there, so... an Update on Anything, nothing specific, is better than no updates at all.

I agree with most on here.

 

I would actually like to learn more about the improved ATC system since it is "planned" to be included in the next patch.

 

After that - EDGE, Nevada and F-18C are top of my list.

Great post - carrier ops to go with the F-18 and add weather and improved sea conditions (pitching deck at night)
