Nice to see this thread get back on track and the F-35 haters are back in their holes :D

Don't mistake criticism or skepticism for hate though ;)

Looking forward to friday!

Hi Beaupower32 the team would love any help you can give, and I hope to have you on the OPEVAL team. But I would never ever want to put you in a position which might in any way compromise your position as a crew chief. Eagle

I would be more than happy to help with anything you need. I would also enjoy being on the OPEVAL. Let me know!

Looking at the cockpit it appears like I'm going to need a touch screen for my 2nd monitor.

Just when I thought I was set up. :)

Go with a touch screen overlay :) its cheaper and you can you use whatever monitor you want :D

I'm using one cause I couldn't find a touchscreen monitor that was capable of 120hz. It works great for A-10C because the 6DoF cockpit lets you lean right up to the small buttons :)

So I suspect I'll be using it a lot for the F-35

Hey guys,

Here are higher resolution pics of the model on my Flickr page. Thank you to beaupower32 for the information on the bay doors. And to Paulrkiii, yessir, I will be working on maintenance hatches.

She looks very good so far...know she's a WIP but she appears to be missing a few "bumps" near the vertical stabs. (sorry don't technically know what they are since I don't work the old girl).

@beaupower32, can you shed any light on what they are for?

Paul, they are there so the aircraft shows up on RADAR. They are easy to remove, and if you want to go full stealth you just take them off. Don't know if I can post the name of them, but that is what they basically do...

Luneburg lenses. Aka 'nutsacks' on the F-22. They're not a secret, Luneburg lenses work on the same principle as stealth, they just do the opposite thing.

They had similar fixtures mounted on the sides of the F-117 as well... funny that that's all you need to help make a stealthy aircraft visible.

As for my questions about the stabilizers- thanks to all who responded and yes I can definitely see why a wider (likely heavier) surface wasn't favoured and that at lower speed (sub-supercruise for example) that it wasn't necessary.

Just out of interest, anyone know if the F-35A's electronic/hydraulic/fuel systems are declassified?

Also, any plans to include EOTS?

How many times do you want to fuss about same matter DCS:F-35 haters? Just get out of here and enjoy your play without F-35 or other new generetion airclfts.

I wasn't a fan at first but then I realised it's just a tool that opens up more possibilities for mission designers. I'd hate to fly against one but it would be great to fly a deep strike 4 ship.

The point is, it's happening now so embrace it. Try to gather as much information as you can and help to make it as realistic as possible.

There are avionics demo's and lots of first hand accounts of how it flies and many other variables can be closely calculated from the information we have available, such as weight, thrust, internal fuel load, Max G load, wing area etc.

It won't be DCS A-10C realistic, but neither are FC3 aircraft. Just accept it for what it is.
