Done! Guys I have updated the Harpoon script on the USS Bowen. Version 1.0.1 can be downloaded on page one of the forum. If your interested to know what I have been working on. I'm re-working the Aquitaine Class Frigate and working on the Sirocco Class LPD. Foudre - France, Sargento Aldea -Chile and Bahia-Brazil. There will be 3 liveries. The Aquitaine Class French Frigate has been updated to combat the new Chinese and Russian threats in DCS. Thanks to CurrentHill!! He has given me more insights into modeling and making the DCS AI Warships more powerful. I'm also working on the Los Angeles Class Submarine. So what's new is you have to determine when the submarines will submerge and surface via waypoints now. The auto submerge feature has been removed. Not sure if it will be reprogrammed or not.11 points

F-4 all the way. I don't have time for ultra-complex 4+ gen fighters anymore. Too much too learn and remember. A week passes without flying and I have to relearn. No time, no patience. Cold War ftw.6 points

Just saw in the weekly news that the F-15E comes with "Be afraid of the dark" ebook and I'm just gonna have to ask (I know, that didn't take long, did it ) @RAZBAM: Would it perhaps in any way be possible to make this ebook available at pre-purchase day? (for pre-purchasers only of course). Would be a great way to (further) increase enthusiasm for us hyped up bunch. Would totally understand and be fine if this isn't possible, but I just had to ask5 points

This is an exceptionally unrealistic projection at present. We're getting close. Soon we'll have poured two years of very hard work into the Phantom and thus we're rapidly approaching completion. There will be some gaps between releases as this is something that all parties feel is good, but the development or release schedule on a macro level is not influenced by the 15E. Put simply, and with all due respect, we do our own thing and don't really care much about other third parties. I wouldn't even say we consider other releases quite as competitors, as the rising tide raises all boats in DCS. In the end, our release and development schedule is dictated by quality first and fiscal responsibilities second. Exact release day, seasonal timing or other release deconfliction are a distant third.4 points

Still ranting and not one bug report or log, huh? Almost like you don't really want it getting better or fixed. It's getting boring so here are your options again: go back to the version you were satisfied with, drop the beta (you're not ready to handle it), drop the settings (yes, different software version sometimes means different performance, adapt).4 points

Hi guys! Wow! Lots of good conversation here about CFTs! Yes, RAFL has removed CFTs from their training syllabus to experiment DCA without the added weight and drag of the CFT but is not an approved SCL for anything other than training as it does not meet MESL requirements and its not the F-15E's primary role. Combat coded C models have never flown CFTs outside of test because CFTs can't be measured in either ASIP or does not measure on OWS with the exception of the 35th and 87th wing when they owned alert in Iceland but were limited to 3g's. F-15C's never carried bombs, they didn't have an A/G mode in PACS limited by the CP. Each command (ACC/PACAF/USAFE) are all training to a specific syllabus that sometimes may never be used i.e. maritime tactics but you never know what HAF/A3 has up their sleeves.4 points

Added missing T-ILS panel, Doppler radar under wing, Fixed the Pilot so he's no longer cross eyed! LOL. Should hopefully be in a future Viggen Update. Added Details from the Civilian version which is flying.4 points

I am not sure in the Alpha Jet video is really at 420kts...And I heard that a version AlphaJet is in development by Split-Air. And let me bring out the video I was talking about regarding the sense of speed...3 points

Speed doesn't feel like anything as your frame of reference is in rest. You'll only be able to register the rate of change (acceleration) or a perceivable motion vs. another frame of reference, e.g. clouds going by or trees (other fixed objects) on the ground. Hence, your percieved angular motion. This training film (in German) shows the differences in percieved speed (airspeed = iso at 420kts) at different altitudes: 0:50 - 100ft 3:10 - 250ft 5:50 - 500ft 7:30 - 1000ft Yes, we do need an Alpha Jet A!3 points

It technically could be installed, as the 115l aux tank could be filled with pretty much anything (Fuel, MW50 or even GM-1), but you'd need a tailored injection system for each of the three substances. GM-1 was a nice idea, but it never really worked perfectly. Mostly because it was too volatile and would gas-out on warm summer days at readiness quite quickly, so figuring out the correct timing was a bit of a chore. It was still better than not having it at all. Having a larger motor with better supercharging and better fuel would have been the better option. Naturally. There's no reason not to implement the Erhöhte Notleistung modification, as it was a relatively easy fix. Also there is no "our A-8". The A-8 was flown from March/ April '44 through to the war's end and surviving aircraft were modified. Hence an A-8 flying around in late '44 would certainly have EN. Just make it a mission-builder option and we're good to go.3 points

I think we desperately need a couple more buildings as static objects, that integrate with the new maps. Basically a couple of the one and two story buildings, walled compounds, huts, sheds, etc. from each map. So we have a way to add a specific "target building" in missions in places where no generic buildings are generated and which don't look obviously like added from the old Caucasus map times. The generic civilian airliner from the airports as a way to add civilian air traffic without C-130, IL-76 and KC-135s as "stand-ins" would be great and while we talk about neutral units, as in ROE "only shoot confirmed hostiles", the addition of civilians, basically insurgents and technicals (HL Dshk), but unarmed aka without a weapon so a pick-up without the Dshk and a guy without the Ak-47, would open the possibility to create believable scenarios where ROE are enforced and identification of targets is required and you are penalized, when "killing everything that moves".3 points

Thanks all, your observations confirm that the fix I discussed earlier (in the MSFS thread) should be satisfactory for you once it is rolled out.3 points

Has anyone come up with the fix that every single time I get hit in the F-16 I cannot eject I just sit there and it like blows me out of the cockpit I'm just sitting there watching my plane fall from the sky with no wings engine full blast I can never ever ever eject unless I get hit with a gun and it doesn't tear my wings off3 points

Here’s a few from the other nights flying session. I tried the Giraffe tactic on a couple F-14 Tomcats on Ace setting. We snuck up with radars off then popped up, tuned on the radars & locked up the F14’s. On of my wingmen we’re shot down during this but we did manage to shoot down the F14’s. I was a little surprised it worked as well as it did.2 points

Personally I find the F-4EJ to be one of the coolest aspects of DCS: F-4E! We'll be introducing a Japanese pilot option post-EA release as well2 points

Well the proof is actually right there, the photo that has been posted above (labelled as F-15A intercept Tu-95) has actually been mis-labelled - if you look at a better quality image of it you can see that the serial numbers of the two aircraft are 80-0030 & 80-0040 both of which were, are & always have been F-15C’s.2 points

I think @Cobra847 will want at least a month's airspace between the start of the F-15E EA period and opening pre-orders for the F-4E. Releasing any closer than that won't gain HB anything, so accepting any risk (even a small one) due to a lack of clean air is just unnecessary. Besides, I think Cobra likes his modules to make a dramatic entrance, so he'll want the chance for the Phantom to dominate conversation, even if it's different voices that would talk about each module.2 points
-
I know right, pre-order and few months, we're in April at best. So F4 pre order in a few months, then release a few months after that. We're in June? Corsair pre order in half a year than a few months, we're in October. There's at least a 20% chance we'll be living in a post apocalyptic hell world by October, with access to electricity and so computer time, very limited.2 points

The part that gets me is that Razbam said something to the effect of "this doesn't effect our release schedule", implying that there is a known release schedule... but then the comment in the newsletter makes it sound like it is all kind of "to be determined" (a few months later, maybe sooner) ???. The good news is that the Steve Davies book is a nice touch. He writes top-quality material, and his podcast is outstanding. Really a pretty cool bonus.2 points

Yeah there are more effects listed, but does a WW2 airplane have an afterburner? Speedbrake? Foldable Wings? So usually, add the effects for each model depending on the data available from DCS and the "capabilities" of the real plane You may test the SSA beta version. The stable way not updated for some time, I try to release a new stable "soon". I do not see that SSA detects that you've fired... Did you use unlimited ammo?2 points

oh lawd he commeth... think i just settle on RLM 02 for anything inside... Ah yes... and also ive wasted a good hour repainting the very same disruptive pattern on the wings, instead of the opposite pattern.. cause i´m an idiot. Anyway.... some small update.. The effect of the layerd chipped paint is subtle but its there. Ill reduce the ammount of bare metal chips tho. Bit too much if i look at rl pics. Redid the fuel labels hand painted the letter (cause ...) The Auf Zu markings on the hatches seem to be embossed telling from real world examples, so i´ll have to take this into account for the normal map later on. Also adjusted the dirt /grime color to a pale-grey-ish muddy tan. Looks quite good without havin to adjust opacity or do blending with layer styles in ps. Late war flaps color block-out.2 points

As much as the dude-man poster above wants it to be the case, you're not in some "bottleneck of hell?" bound by your RAM. He posts how he had a massive performance gain by going to CL14 DDR4, but in reality, vast majority of his gains come from 5600X to 5800X3D, where the latter is a gaming monster in comparison. Furthermore, contrary to his lack of understanding and regurgitating, of information, 5800X3D performance does not come from low latency RAM, but the masisve cache. This large low latency cache allows the engine to keep more of the low-level "instructions" on the chip and not put in the RAM. Long story short, take everything he copy-pastes into every thread with a large block of salt, as alot of his statements aren't rooted in reality or at best are a misrepresentation of information.2 points

Haven't had time to do the last night cq, but I have to say this was the most fun and challenging campaign I have ever flown in DCS, really looking forward for more! I actually start Naval pilot training soon, and hopefully my grade sheets in Pensacola look as good or better. Regardless, from my research and understanding of military aviation these missions were pretty damn close to the real thing!2 points
