Possible Fix for Steam Version "low Resolution" I managed to get the situation resolved for me. I purchased the Upgrade for people with Normy 1.0 and Channel, but the graphics in London and Paris (i.e. the new areas that weren't present in Normy 1) were low-res (i.e. the Upgrade did not kick in) What I did to resolve: 1. In your Library Side bar on the Left, right-click on DCS and select Properties 2. In the resulting dialog, click on DLC, then Look for "Normandy 1944 Map" (NOT Normandy 2.0!!!) and UNCHECK the map. Steam will proceed to remove the map data. 3. Close dialog. Run DCS, and you will NOT be able to load Normandy at all. This is intentional, and I'm making sure that now, in the absence of Normy 1, the Normy 2 token is validated. This is pure speculation from me, and not confirmed by anyone, least of all Ugra, who have been lamentably absent in all of this. 4. Quit DCS. Now, in Steam open the same dialog as above again, and CHECK DCS Normandy 1944 Map ON AGAIN. Steam will now download the Normandy map anew. 20 gigs = time for an espresso. On my rig, this did the trick, and I now have Normandy 2 in full resolution. Yay!8 points

Dear all, If I might stick my nose in on this: We hear you and understand why you wish to retain the currently modeled TGP However, for the following reason, we’ll later (no time frame) adjust it to be an accurate LANTIRN TGP. Due to some incorrectly labeled videos and bad SME feedback, we made an earlier mistake of believing our modeled TGP was a Litening. We were wrong. Despite some initial resistance by us, we eventually agreed with your feedback that we were in fact mostly simulating a LANTIRN TGP. In fact, you all did a great job finding images and references of Block 50s sporting LANTIRN. These partly made us reconsider our stance on this. Thank you. We are doing our very best to model a USAF F-16C Block 50 using 4.2+ OFP. We chose this specifically due to the availability of documentation that we can cite if needed (very important in these times of sensitive information being leaked and resulting investigations). All our available TGP data is limited to LANTIRN and Sniper ATP. Even if we could confidently verify Litening TGP for an OFP 4.2+ F-16C (not secondhand accountings), we have zero reference data for this TGP that we could cite. Anything we put into our simulation must have supporting evidence that we can point to. As mentioned earlier, we still plan to add Sniper ATP. We have good and citable reference data for this, unlike Litening. If at a later point we come across Litening TGP data for OFP 4.2+ or earlier that is complete and citable, we’ll most certainly consider it. Kind regards, Wags7 points

Totally exceeded my expectations! London is excellent, and the density of Paris is stunning. Within the first hour I flew through the London Bridge, buzzed Windsor Castle, then went to Paris and did the same with the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triumph. There are so many beautiful, detailed things to destroy! I even learned something ... I had no idea that Paris had a Statue of Liberty-type statue next to a bridge, but I spotted it while flying low over the river. I can't wait to bomb the @#%^ out of it. Just kidding. It's totally a job for rockets. The only things missing to make you feel like you're actually *IN* 1944 Paris, are the white flags and rude waiters. Aside from that, it feels pretty damn close. I'm running a 2080Ti in both VR and on a 5120 x 1440 Ultra-Wide 49" monitor, and the models are sharp with FPS in the range of Normandy 1.0. Anyway, outstanding release. Just superb. And while I really appreciate the discount, It's such a massive upgrade to Normandy 1 that it's an entirely new map altogether, and I would not have balked at paying $60 for it. Anyone griping about paying < $20 for it is nuttier than a squirrel's turd, IMHO. This map was definitely worth the wait. Great job, and thanks for creating it. It has already begun to increase my enjoyment of DCS.6 points

I'll just leave this right here. One of thousands of photos I took during my deployments. F-16CJ from the 13th EFS over Iraq, 2007. Carrying LITENING! Even the ANG BLk30s were carrying LITENING. So here's my thoughts. You're not solely using USAF docs, but instead, using data from the Greeks and Turks to fill in gaps. Hence the LANTIRN.6 points

Thanks, Citizen! I appreciate that. Yes, Blue Ridge is long overdue, and Yes Puller will be great as well.6 points

Very strange that the issue occurs when it detect the targets, I will do some tests and see if I can reproduce the error, otherwise it'll be hard for me to troubleshoot the issue. I'll add them to my inspiration list. Yep, there is no reload implemented yet. But I'll add it to the next release. Could it be the DCS bug where certain areas on the map (especially the non-central ones) creates very odd behavior. For example, assets floating in the air above the ground, missiles doing strange things. Do you have a miz file for me? Yep, I've been supporting the IDF Mod guys with their Iron Dome. Looking forward to its release. Also, keep our fingers crossed about ED adding reflection values to rockets in the future. That would be great, thanks! Send me a message if you can't find a way to share them and we'll figure something out. I'm focused on the modern era assets at the moment, as there are enough of them that needs adding. Thank you very much, appreciate it!4 points

the warning can be ignored. But you are correct, the old terrain actually shares the old ID internally, this was done as users who dont upgrade still get the normandy 2 free update. The warning is a side affect of that process. I have asked if anything can be done about the warning.4 points

Work in progress... ZTZ 99A2 with active protection system. It's definitely not perfect, but a representation of an APS with the DCS limitations. It will do it's best to protect the MBT from incoming ATGMs or AGMs by trying to blow them up within a couple of hundred meters. It scans 360 deg around the MBT and only has ammo for a couple of incoming threats. Unfortunately it cannot detect shells.4 points

I agree. I was somewhat skeptical on how much of a difference there would be but this looks absolutely fantastic and runs smooth as butter. Hats off Ugra!3 points

Except it doesn't. I have Normandy and Channel. Bought the 9.99 upgrade. Yet have only low textures. My steam still lists Normandy 1944. In game. I have the Normandy icon not Normandy 2 icon. If I delete Normandy 1944 from my dlc. But keep the Normandy 2.0 and Normandy upgrade 2 DLCs. Thr Normandy map is gone from the game.3 points

London and Paris look stunning, overall great work. I was surprised the FPS were as good as they were. That said, these huge cities with thousands of objects does nothing for VR users. Other than a casual high/slow flyby you'd never be able to play a sortie there due to framerate limits even at lowest settings. FPS is also down in the smaller towns I had missions in, love/hate on this one for VR. Definitely no love for VR users in this game. Unfortunately, the update, while it looks awesome, reduced performance for VR even more. I will now have to play this map less.3 points

I have the same problem. Bought the $10 upgrade on steam (I'm on open beta of course), and two different Normandy 2.0 upgrades show in my dlc library. However in the game I still have no new textures (even the old airfields look worse than before with less detail). The runways on the new airfields are just dark lines on the ground, and the buildings are ultra low res. Have restarted the steam client, verified files, restarted the computer...all to no avail. I'd say this is a pretty serious problem.3 points

If you own the old Normandy: 1944 and installed the today's Open Beta patch, you already have the full Normandy 2.0 map on your PC. The purchase simply unlocks the new HD content. There won't be any additional downloads, in-game prompts or alerts after you bought the 2.0. Just restart DCS and enjoy.3 points

Your welcome Toan! Much appreciated. So as I always say I have an AI ship for almost all countries. Future AI ships coming for DCS are for the US, Japanese Fleet, South Korea, Netherlands, Italy, France, Egypt, Spain, Australia, Germany, Canada, and Singapore. Not in that order. In the near future, I plan to create some Civil Cargo, Container, and Tankers Ships for the upcoming Sinai Map. I also have some small Patrol Boats coming as well. The next mod in line is the USS Lewis B. Puller (ESB-3). I'm creating this mod for the helicopter flyers out there as it is a forward expeditionary mobile base. Afterward, I will create a couple of Supply and replenishment vessels. We have a lot of ships but not enough support for them. We'll see what the future brings. One day at a time! Thank you all for your interest in the AI Ship mods. Stay Tuned! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Lewis_B._Puller_(ESB-3)3 points

If/When it does get released it will probably be a first/second week of December deal to coincide with the big end-of-year virtual airshow, That would be my what I would want to happen but no point in holding onto something finished if we finish it in a January or something I agree with the marathon part though, currently working on the pop rivets and sheet metal on the wingtip and leading edge (wip). Im fairly confident that the rivets are within about 1cm of where they should be and the actual aircraft mesh has maybe only 5mm deviation from the real aircraft anywhere but I'm planning on redoing the fuselage model (for the 4th time) sometime soon3 points

Hello! The radar is probably the most WIP item in the plane. Reports from our SMEs (both pilots and technicians) indicate that the noise levels should indeed be generally lower, so we are aware of it. Thanks a lot for the report and the video tho.3 points

Hello all, Since ED has updated the textures for the flanker, I do not recommend using my RMs with them since they sacrificed quite a bit of visual fidelity in order to give the depth effect present in normals which is no longer necessary, however I do still recommend you keep them for the Su-25 since ED has not updated it's textures Hello All! As many of you may know, FC3's textures are really out of date when compared to what is available today, especially for aircraft such as the Su-25, 27 or 33. which do not have normals. But since Normals can only be enabled from the original model, I've decided to try and make up for the lack of depth provided by normals by giving these aircraft custom RMs that try to emulate the effect normals have like this: I have done such roughmets for all of the Russian aircraft lacking normals. And you can see some comparison shots below: And some Pictures of the new roughmets in game (some of those are custom liveries with new diffuses to match the new Roughmets) : I will soon publish the new Su-25 liveries if there's enough interest, and make the RM's PSDs available for Creators who would like to use them in their liveries. New Engines for the Flanker by Mach3 D S Along with my new roughmets, I’ve also included new engine textures for the flankers provided by Mach3ds. However to apply these new textures you’ll have to include the following lines in your livery’s lua: {"su27_detail", 0 ,"Su-27_detail_new",true}; {"su27_detail_compos", 0 ,"Su-27_detail_new",true}; Download: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1a1jQaEm9cqgmwJokCk4ZeWpd2euRlVFG/view?usp=sharing Install Instructions: Either use OVGME, or copy the folder from the zip and place it in the DCS install folder Credits: Kerbo: Roughmets for Su-27, Su-33, and Su-25 Mach3 D S: Roughmets and new diffuse for Su-27 and Su-33 engines2 points

Mate, it depends on what you call a 109, which I'm pretty aware most LW bigots Luftwhinners 109 more eager fans say they aren't, but TFC owns, has owned, or at least have had access to non less than a couple Me109J (yes, that was their official factory name, HA1112 M1L is their builder name, Buchón was their nickname and most people know them by that) which means, yes, they know the thing better than you and me no matter what. Anyhow, no worries, Hangar 10 red 7 (another Buchón, converted with DB605 to G-4 standard) has showed not far ago in Flying Legends with Klaus Plasa at the controls, and we know they have contacted, talked, and what not to all of them to refine the module, not to mention Erich Brunotte LW veteran (which passed away recently) we all knew here helping with the module, being interviewed and testing the modules back in time, 109 but also Dora which he flew both. The problem is not they haven't contacted, talked, and what not, to those people you point out and more in order to get as much info as possible about all of that. But the problem is virtual pilots wanting the 109 to be something it is not… and I can tell you other games are to blame for that, ahem… Every module in DCS is a piece of artwork as you realized, and 109 isn't less, it's just enthusiasts expect something unreal from 109. It's just a plane, and the best plane in the game performance wise by the way, but as a plane it has it's own problems, vices, and many things most people don't know/realize because a story in a book never tells those subtleties. Not long ago there was another thread about the apparent lack of spins, but they took a look at it and IIRC it was found it is correct as it is, spins could be developed, but slats prevent the thing to develop further so you don't get to watch it almost ever, even if unwanted and you truly push it to spin on purpose. It might not look like it, but the plane is stalled all the way, and spin starts but slats stop it, or something like that (can't recall every detail of the thing). You can search for those older threads to see what was talked back then (the 109 has produced dozens of threads about 109 performance BTW, you can check and read plenty about that if you will) and every time they have looked at it it just fulfils what charts say, so…2 points

Yeah I at least do not see me upgrading my headset for some time yet. Been running the Aero well over a year and still loving it. Then when DCS add Multi Threading , Open XR support that was a game changer for sure for the better. And then Dynamic Foveated Rendering with eye tracking came along just for the Aero and really made it shine. However it is a lot of money for a VR headset, especially if one also has to get the trackers, so I always like to mention that. Whether it is worth the cost would be very much up to the individual.2 points

Buying Warning is a glitch. If you own the original Normandy , when you buy Normandy 2 you get a warning message that you already own the License. When you look at the ad for buying it, under it, it will say you already have a license for this product. This is a glitch in the ED software, according to Ed, It doesn't check anything in the title past Normandy. If you haven't bought it yet and want to buy it, Go ahead.2 points

Your options for overclocking the 7800X3D are fairly limited as its max clocks are locked to 5050Mhz. If you are on a high-end Asus board that supports AI OC, you can squeeze 150-200Mhz more out of it. Lastly, where you could get the biggest increase in clocks is via ECLK (external clock generator) if your motherboard supports it (usually only high end boards). You can still tune PBO/CO2 to stay at boost longer and at lower Temps like you can with other Zen4 CPUs. If you want to learn more, check out this guy. He does some great technical videos on overclocking.2 points

Hi, It's a cool video about French Mirage F1 operating in Tchad, Mirage F1 CR and CT. Mirage F1 CT were former Mirage F1 C200 upgraded with CR components. But the radar was kept the same, so for instance, instead of upgrading the radar to get AG ranging they added a laser ranger finder. At 5:34 you can see the radar operating in AA. As far as I can tell: mode "IC", range 35Nm, elevation setting D+06. There is no noise on the scope !2 points

Absolutely no reason you can't do modern scenarios with this. I plan on using it extensively for early to mid cold war. This isn't strictly a warbirds map2 points

could be 3 reasons: - you didn't purchase Normandy 2 or Normandy 2 upgrade - you are not running OpenBeta - you're on Steam (currently there's a problem with Steam users, they get only low resolution textures, I'm one of them). You can comment in this thread:2 points

I have found Paris is a bit blurred in VR, namely, the structures are there but the images are blurred for some reason . Am I the only one who experienced this? The parts of the new map overlapping the original Normandy map seem to be sharper in comparison with the parts of the map in Paris. Have not tried London yet.2 points

I would really like to be able to use the Reaper for spotting and lasing targets as a FAC-A. Currently in combined arms I can only use the ground vehicles. The Reaper already has all of that functionality as far as tasking usage, why not make it playable for FAC-A's? This could really add a lot of value to missions. Thanks.2 points

If this disappoints you incredibly, it is a pretty decent sign that you are not managing your expectations properly. When thinking about the EF Typhoon, think in years, not weeks or months. Patience, it will take a while to get here. Having more news doesn't make it go any faster.2 points

The release cadence isn’t fair to people who run the stable version. It seems 75% of the time the current version is the Beta, effectively shutting people out of MP.2 points

I think this needs to be addressed. It seems the F-16 requires more documentation/evidence to implement stuff than other ED modules. With the recent news of the F-16’s litening being removed for the Lantirn due to lack of evidence, JDAM’s having an impact error zone that just isn’t being implemented right but will do one day I guess, MAV’s having to be bore-sighted and so on and so on, the list is bigger. yet none of these items are implemented on other ED modules and in fact ED said they do not have the required documentation to to properly implement MAV’s on the F-18 such as bore-sighting so why are MAV’s not being removed from the hornet for the same reason the litening TGP is being removed for the viper? in the end implement whatever realism you want but just have a standard between the modules.2 points
