From Razbam Twitter Dear customers and DCS community in general: As the Early Access of the DCS:F-15E Strike Eagle is getting real fast to it’s release date, we would like to share with you what to expect in this initial release, keep in mind that constant updates will happen until we consider this project feature complete. This is the list of what will be available on day 1 of Early Access: Navigation: •Fully modeled Laser Gyros assembly with drift error. •Integrated GPS assembly with its own independent gyro system. •Inertial Navigation, with selectable gyro system for position keeping. •TACAN Navigation •ILS Navigation •Waypoint Navigation, fully editable with in cockpit ADD, EDIT and DELETE functions. Sensor Suite: •Tactical Situation Display: Currently, it is working only as a moving map. It will be constantly updated to become a fully operable system capable of selecting targets. •AN/APG-70 Radar: oA/A: RWS, STT, TWS and HOJ. oA/G: Radar Map, High Resolution Map, Ground Moving Target. oThe radar is fully integrated with the loaded TGP (LANTIRN, LITENING or SNIPER). oThe radar is synchronized for Multi Crew cockpit. •Navigation Pods (NVP): oAN/AAQ-13: Navigation Pod: FLIR is available. •Targeting Pods (TGP): oAN/AAQ-14 LANTIRN: FLIR + Laser Designation are available. After EA the newer Litening pod will be available fully functional as well as part of our CTU update program, this also includes the Sniper pod in a future Weapons Management The aircraft has a learning curve regarding weapons management. The crew is required to do certain procedures before the loaded weapons can be used. •Programmable Armament Control Set (PACS): oA/A Display (A/A): Monitors and configure all A/A weapons on the aircraft. Currently it is in its basic form. oA/G Display (A/G): Monitors and configure all A/G weapons. In this option the release program (up to four) is entered. A/G weapons cannot be released without a program. oA/A LOAD: Used to configure the aircraft’s A/A loadout. This does not mean that the selected weapon is physically loaded. Only used for A/A training, since all A/A missiles self-identify. Not operational. oA/G LOAD: Used to configure the aircraft’s A/G loadout. This does not mean that the selected weapon is physically loaded. It is a required step because the aircraft cannot identify the ordnance loaded in a specific pylon. It can only determine if something is loaded or not. Fully operational. oCBT JETT: Used to pre-program weapons jettison for quick release under combat conditions. Two jettison programs can be entered. Fully operational. •A/G Delivery: Configures the delivery parameters for each weapons release program. •Selective Jettison: Used to select the removal of aircraft load. Unlike the CBT JETT, the pilot is required to select the pylons before jettisoning them. Weapons Suite The following are the weapons that will be available on EA release: Air to Air AIM-9 family: L/M/P/P5 AIM-7 family: M/MH AIM-120 family: B/C Air to Ground Mk-82 family: LD and HD (Snake eyes and AIR). Mk-84 family: LD and HD (AIR) CBUs: -87, -97 GBUs (Laser Guided Weapons): -10, -12, -24, -27, -28 Training versions of Mk-82, Mk-84, GBU-12 Gun M61-A 20mm Vulcan with 500 rounds of either PGU-28/B SAPHEI or M56HEI Other stores External Fuel Tanks. MXU-648 Travel Pod Cockpit Both front and rear cockpits are fully clickable, including some items like mirrors, which can be rotated. The digital displays (MPDs and MPCDs) are functional but not all the menu options are available. HUD The HUD is fully implemented, including the HUD repeaters in both cockpits. The main HUD in the front cockpit can also display FLIR video, when the NAV POD is loaded. All aircraft master modes are enabled: A/A (default), A/G, NAV and INST (a special NAV mode with hardcoded displays). •A/A: All Air-to-Air weapons are enabled: Medium Range Missiles (MRM), Short Range Missiles (SRM) and gun (GUN). For SRM and gun, can be used with or without radar guidance. •A/G: CDIP (CCIP) and AUTO (CCRP) release modes for both are available. DIRECT (hot pickle) release is not enabled since this is a Smart Weapons mode. Given the fact that the F-15E Strike Eagle is by design a 2 crew strike fighter involving coordinated inputs by the pilot and the WSO, but at the same time it’s capable to be operated by a single user in a simulated environment, it was decided to focus on single player use BUT at the same time multicrew capacity was included to some extent for Early Access, more MC features will be available with each new update to the aircraft in a constant basis Multi Crew Synchronization Current Multi Crew synchronization available for EA: •Flight Controls, Autopilot , CAS, and Trim system •Landing Gear and Brake system •Speed brake and Flap system •Engine and Engine Control system •Electrical system •Aircraft External Lights •Cockpit Internal Lights •ECS system •Fuel system •Ejection system •A/A Radar •A/G Radar •Navigation (Waypoint) The MC synchronization is a challenging technical endeavor due to the complexity of the aircraft systems, that allows both seats to fully control the aircraft and its sensors, it a lengthy and complex process that will be constantly updated. MC synchronization is one of our top priorities during current and coming development. Up to date user Manual and interactive missions by Baltic Dragon Keep in mind that this is the set in stone list of features for Early Access but at the same time more features will be added until release. A release date for Early Access has been set already and will be public in a near future.7 points

You can still play the game. But if you don't put the time and effort into achieving proficiency required to do a hard task in the game, then you shouldn't be able to do the hard task in the game. That's not implemented yet but a lot of people are asking for it all the time. Hmm, you're right, perhaps the shortcuts should get removed then. And basket turbulence should be a thing and wake turbulence should be always on behind tankers. The "we already have this, why can't we have more" is not an argument. It's just a result of lot of people crying instead of searching through the chuck's guides and so those shortcuts exist now, and everyone relies on F10 map and people often don't do any navigation, but that doesn't mean that that justifies making even more shortcuts. The line has to be drawn somewhere. If those shortcuts get removed, I'd be quite happy. It's really not hard to twist a knob to set a radio frequency manually, or use tacan, steerpoints and a kneeboard map. If you want to fly a plane, you have to learn to fly a plane.4 points

I'm not an expert on the subject, but according to Wikipedia: "The 63rd Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment (GIAP) began combat trials of the La-7 in mid-September 1944 in support of the 1st Baltic Front. The 156th Fighter Aviation Regiment of the 4th Air Army was the next unit to receive the La-7 in October 1944. By 1 January 1945 there were 398 La-7s in front-line service, by 9 May 1945 this had increased to 967 aircraft" I think that given the maps available on DCS, very few aircrafts would be able to be flown on full historic fidelity ... the Viggen for example could not be used. Me personally, have no problem using my imagination and devise fictional detachment and foreign operations so that I can fly any aircraft I want on whatever Map I want.4 points

While we appreciate the feedback, and agree SRS is a great app. Having a in house out of the box voice tool is something we want to provide, it will help with new users who do not want to mess with outside apps. A voice tool for DCS has been asked for for many years and we are happy to provide it. thank you4 points

I have to notice that easy options tend to fill severs up with reckless players. We don’t need more of that. So you’d see this option disabled as a form of gate keeping IMO. So no point in asking for it. What I’m saying is the game already has the option for unlimited fuel so why does SP need Auto AAR? Nobody would listen to my advice because I would just tell them to practice a lot. Naw what I’d say is realize this is just like a car or bicycle which I’m sure everyone here can operate. Look how you keep your balance or speed in traffic with small constant adjustments you aren’t even aware of. Do the same thing with your game controls and you got it. And practice a lot.3 points

It's not magnetic, you have to touch the center for it to snap. Also, proper basket physics aren't implemented yet, but the plan is to add it. But the goal is to make it more realistic, not less. What you're saying is that A isn't realistic, therefore B shouldn't either, which is not how it works in DCS. You're saying you personally can refuel. So, why do you need assists? There are some people who say that AAR is more difficult than in real life, and if that happens to be the case, then AAR should be changed to be more realistic, and if that makes it easier in the process, so be it. That, realism of the task, should be the ultimate goal. Not a basket that snaps onto your airplane from 30 meters away because kids want to burner and spamraam 24/7. Again, as I said, I think some assists may be acceptable depending on what kind of assist we're talking about, so, perhaps if you explain how you imagine the AAR to work, that would move this discussion further.3 points

The original betty in the F-15E and C, as well as the early Hornets and AV-8Bs is Kim Crow. I got actual voice recordings straight from her for a commercial sim I worked on. Did some other recordings with her for various other jets as well. In the F-16 it was Erica Lane. Eurofighter has Sue Milne. Leslie Shook was the newer betty for newer commands in the Superhornet, and Joan Elms was the "Sexy Sally" in the B-58 Hustler. Patricia Hoyt is the betty for the Boeing 717 and C-17.3 points

Sorry Patrick. I am not trying to shoot eh messenger. However, In my opinion, a picture of a manual's cover, be it WIP or finished product is just a tease. It is useless, other than showing a manual will be provided. Releasing the manual to the general public, even if it isn't finished, will go further in exciting potential buyers (and the patient preorders, of which I am one) than telling us there is A WIP manual in the works. There comes a time with pre-release publicity when it is "put up or shut up" time. I think we are nearing that moment. I for one am getting tired of all the "teases" To quote the old Wendy's commercial, "Where's the meat?"3 points

i recommend you to practice first with low alttitude drop with longer delay fuse(3sec or more) once you set the fuse roll in to the traget at 30-45 degree angle(any more than that will make you crash in to the traget well you can do that too if you so desire) about at 300m-400m when the target cross your aiming point(where the bottom of your recticle and nose meets) you drop the bomb and exit this will help you to develop the sense when you should drop at what angle in what alttitude if you perfect this later then you can hit the target aobve 600m meteres with 50ms short delay or instant fuse setting which is safe alttitude from shockwave and sharpnels from your own bomb some veteran luftwaffe pilot who flew the fw190 over eastern front once said in interview that it was so hard to drop the bomb accurately over the traget from above that they use the skipping method instead to hit the tank(t-34) they flew almost right above the ground(50m or so) and approaching from where they are faced to the t-34's side and drop the bomb in short distance from the target(maybe 300m away from the t-34 or less) then their bomb would hit the ground first and ricochettd to t-34's side you can't do this in dcs since DCS doens't allow for the bombs to be ricochetted from the ground unfortunately3 points

For now you need to use ultra settings on the clouds for best results, and adjust your aliasing settings accordingly, this of course comes with a FPS overhead. Distant clouds on the horizon is where I see the aliasing the most, I fly in VR and use ultra settings on clouds. We still have more work to come with the clouds, DLSS and eventually vulkan should help also but we will need to continue to be patient. thanks3 points

Ok... I took a F-16 up in the air with a similar setup as on the ground but simplified. Four emitters aligned at 0° / -60° / -65° / -90° (true). Aligned at give angles from steerpoint 1. The F-16 was spawned in the air at 25.000' due south (true) from steerpoint 1. So it had to fly 348° magnetic. Once at steerpoint 1 I active freezed DCS to obtain static results. Again the -65° and -90° are not registered by the HTS and the 0° and -60° (+- 2° (ref 298°) at some points) are registered. All 4 emitters are seen by the AN/ALR-56M. This again demonstrates that the HTS scans only +- 60°. Now for your (@skywalker22) experiment I can only guess. But once the HTS establishes a track or ellips it will remember that even though the HTS reached it's scan limits. So it will remain displayed on the HAD but the ellips will probably not be refined. A emitter will only turn green if no emission has been detected for 2 minutes (per manual p. 286) and be removed after 4. So if you build a track/ellips it will remain visible for up to 4 minutes even while out of scan limits. Hence the "....even behind. " Miz and track file included for verification and duplication. EDIT I added a second track file in which I mainted active freeze at stpt 1 for 10 minutes to verify scan limits. The HTS only tracks the 0 and -60° emitters nothing else during the 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes I unfreezed and turned right at heading 003° to get the -60° emitter at -75° active freeze again and see what happens. After 2 minutes the -75° emitter turned green (stale) and after 4 min it disappeared. RWR showing all 4 emitters. Reaffirming that the scan limits for the HTS are +-60° or 120° in total. I'd love to have this ability on the ME. However since many triggers make reference to Units, Groups and Zones, I believe that the best way to implement a trigger copy facility is by allowing Static Templates to include Zones and Triggers, in addition to their current Units and Statics. Including Draw objects also, would be the icing on the cake.3 points

In April of 2022 I purchased the F16 Throttle and Stick. I gave the setup a great review in this forum. Link here: It's been almost exactly one year since I made that purchase so I thought I'd come back and offer some insights to anyone considering buying a new WinWing HOTAS for themselves. SimAppPro is still awful software, but none of us buy WinWing products for the software, so I'll focus on the hardware. Both the stick and throttle still feel solid and smooth, and the buttons continue to function with very positive 'clicks'. The overall flight sim experience with these units is outstanding. But that's where the good things about WinWing stop. 2 weeks after the original 1 year warranty ended, the throttle failed. I worked with WinWing's customer service to confirm that the unit's axis for throttle control is completely dead. All of the buttons, sliders, and switches still work, but the throttle itself does not. Given that WinWing is a Chinese company and shipping goods back and forth is time consuming and expensive, I fully expected that they'd probably just mail me a part or two and ask me to fix it myself, which I would have been happy to do. But that is not how WinWing chose to handle it. Instead, they responded with this: "I have checked that your order has been over one year, in other words, your order is not covered by the warranty, so you need to pay the round-trip freight and maintenance costs. It's not very cheap. Maybe you can buy a new throttle base. It's up to you." Normally, you'd expect a video game controller that costs this much money to last many years. Since the unit failed just 2 weeks after the end of the original one year warranty, I asked them to reconsider. That request got shot-down (pun intended) The F16 Throttle replaced an old Saitek X52 that I'd used without problems for almost 6 years prior to getting the WinWing. I recently plugged the X52 back in and yep, it still works. The Saitek HOTAS cost me less than $125 and feels cheaply constructed. The WinWing HOTAS cost me way over $600 and feels well constructed. If we're being honest, the WinWing product just looks better too. WinWing is eye-candy for your flight sim setup, whereas the Saitek just looks like a toy. It's ironic that the uber-expensive WinWing failed while the uber-cheap Saitek still functions flawlessly. Eye-candy is great to look at, but if I actually want to *fly* the planes I purchase in DCS, I need a throttle that works... DCS is not a cheap game to play. Most of us invest a lot of time and money into our gear and planes. Aside from a strong PC, your controllers are the single most important element to having a good flight sim experience. A good experience is ultimately how you'll determine if the money you spend on DCS is worth it, or isn't. In the US, Chinese goods have always had a reputation of being poorly designed, poorly made, and poorly supported. WinWing was one of those companies that seemed to be an exception to that. I won't go so far as to say the WinWing HOTAS is poorly designed...But poorly made? Poorly supported? Yes, it does appear to be those things. Think twice before you invest in a WinWing HOTAS. Some of these setups cost well over $1000. In one year's time, do you want to have to repeat the purchase because your original one failed? If you're going to spend this much money on a controller, strongly consider Virpil or CH or TM as alternatives...If you want to save the expense all together, just get a Saitek. Odds are that it'll still be working after many years. But even if it isn't, replacing it will cost you a heckuva lot less than replacing the WinWing will. This really cool looking F16 throttle on my desk is basically a $600 paper weight now. Keep that in mind as you contemplate which HOTAS company to give your hard earned dollars to2 points

But of course you should know that won’t work, the control movements are imperceptible and there’s a lag between what you see and should do. You’re not watching and reacting but anticipating. Like riding a bicycle.2 points

I may be making some progress on the AIM-260 implementation! I have been dealing with a weird issue where the missile warhead explodes on launch, destroying the aircraft. I think I have a solution for that, but it limits the number of AIM-260s that can be carried, no more than 8 currently. Also in order to carry 8 AIM-260s, you cannot have more than a single fuel tank, since the workaround I have come up with utilizes the wing fuel tank pylons.2 points

If both sims are correct, shouldn’t they both use the same ”Betty” aka Leslie Shook? Or did the voice change through the years? edit: Apprently the F-15 used another voice actress, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they used Leslie for the E, since it is newer than the Hornet, which she did the voice messages for, and I think the voice sounds the same)2 points

Broken ASL in the latest video that had to be fixed, TWS had to be refactored a few weeks ago, the whole MN/INS simulation is very suspect, the fact that the ranging sources are completely glossed over, the broken point track in the latest video, the completely identical engine parameters, the Betty voice lines that sound like they are from Jane's with a higher pitch in the last teaser and the new info about the lack of TGP sync for EA clearly shows me a product with a great radar and terrible anything else at release. If they want to deliver a quality product, they need to work on this a lot.2 points
