  3. Many of us nordic and scandinavian DCS players are looking forward to the Kola Map -if it would release one day. The latest and only news on this is from september 22 in the Orbx subforum, so it would be nice if anyone could provide an little update on this one.

  4. Худший пост на форумах ДКС. Аргументировать не буду ибо он даже этого не заслуживает... Зря потраченные пять секунд на прочтение.

  5. Playing since LOMAC and ONLY two major things bothered me always: 1. Optimization - fixed with MT 2. Spotting I play in waves(playing for some time, than a break), and every single wave was the same: "Playing on MP servers on native resolution, understand that can't see <profanity>, lowering it to 1080p, understand that game looks like <profanity>, uninstall and then install again when new major patch or plane is out", and this is from someone who amassed more than 3k hours of game time. So glad OP made this mod and this thread and I'm utterly disappointed with ED attitude, luckily I understand Russian language and read some stuff from that topic "Ask developers"... oh boy, its not even unprofessional, some of those post are literally disgusting. THERE IS CLEARLY a problem with spotting, poll is saying that, people are saying that, DO SOMETHING ABOUT THAT. Thank you Why485 for this mod, but gratitude is much more on the fact that you raised awareness to ED team and hopefully they will do something about it. P.S. It feels like cheating every time I play at 1080p vs higher resolution guys....

  7. Think of the stupidest button box you could make for DCS.... yup. I made it. https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/gadget/tape-player-button-box-for-dcs-f-14-tomcat Hey Heatblur, if you're watching we need an axis for the tape deck volume. I had to use a rotary to control the volume and it's not very precise.

  8. I’m only half-joking when I say that “imminent” in DCS-speak means sometime in the next year or so. Oxford defines imminent as “about to happen; impending”, so I’m not sure Devs in DCS-land know what the word means. As many have already pointed out, they’ve also said multiple times across a few months that they have a date set, but they haven’t shared it. At best, it all amounts to a poor communications strategy. I can’t even imagine telling a boss or customer at work that my completion of a project is “imminent” when completion is months away. That would be a bad scene.

  10. So strange that except two people here in forum, nobody else including admins, nobody cares how major part of fighter defensive CHAFF countermeasure works and is treated in DCS high fidelity simulator. I have to admit that I expected more than just single user reply. That's just sad.

  11. Exactly...I mean a post that says, "we're getting close now" is absolutely meaningless in DCS-land, particularly when in December 2022, release was described as "imminent". Wouldn't that be described as close? How much closer are we now then? For the record, I have nothing negative to say about ED or Razbam. I'm dedicated to both. I just wish they were more careful and considered in their messaging, that's all.

  12. In DCS - ALL RADARs (Airborne/Ship/Ground) CANNOT BE AFFECTED BY CHAFF AT ALL, there is no ccm_k0 value in Lua code in any radar in game. CHAFF vulnerability factor ccm_k0 only present in missile Lua codes. Because of this, any radar in game will have you "locked" (not literally), except you notch him or fly out of its limits. - THIS IS WRONG! Because of various foil stripes length packed into single chaff, it has an effect on most of the radar frequency ranges and will affect both missiles (active or passive) and radars (search or tracking) - generating tracking errors or a radar break-lock. DOPPLER RADAR: Against Doppler radars, self-protection chaff is most effective when dispensed at or near the beam, relative to the threat radar. Doppler processing radars will continue to track the aircraft unless it also has a relative velocity of zero. This occurs when the aircraft is abeam the radar. Even Doppler radars can have problems with chaff, doppler effect during foil translation can generate inside of the could reflected radar waves with phase shift recognized by Doppler radar as high relative radial speed - which is not filtered out by doppler gate. Considering Chaff cloud as just falling cloud of metallic foils is very inaccurate assumption. SAM RADAR TRACK WHILE SCAN Chaff employed against a track-while-scan (TWS) radar is designed to put multiple targets, with an RCS greater than the aircraft, in the resolution cell of the horizontal and vertical radar beams. Since the tracking loop tracks the largest return, the TWS radar will automatically switch to the chaff. After dispensing chaff, the pilot can maneuver vertically or horizontally to move the aircraft out of the resolution cell. SAM TWS is not the same as airborne TWS, which also use Doppler filter to filter out most of chaff effects. In DCS some late cold war/modern SAM systems able to search while tracking multiple targets. CONICAL SCAN RADAR - very vulnerable to chaffs. Burst chaff dispensing, employed during the final phase of an engagement by air-to-air or surface-to-air weapons, can generate tracking errors or a radar break-lock. The most dominant factor in chaff effectiveness is the radar cross section of the chaff compared to the airplane at the time when airplane and chaff are in the same resolution cell (angular and range). Chaff cloud have largest RCS reflection when viewed from the side of flight direction and smallest from the front and aft. Aircraft lowest RCS reflections are roughly around 45° off the nose or tail of the aircraft. Aspect is important when developing self-protection maneuvering and chaff dispensing tactics against threat radars. Since the typical fighter aircraft RCS varies between 1 and 10 square meters, depending upon frequency and aspect, the RR-170 chaff cartridge should provide a sufficient RCS to mask the aircraft RCS. In DCS some active radar missiles and older SAM systems. MONOPULSE RADAR - also vulnerable to chaffs.Chaff employed against a monopulse radar is designed to put multiple targets in at least two of the tracking beams. This generates errors in the azimuth, elevation, and range tracking circuits. Multiple chaff targets continue to generate azimuth and elevation errors that can eventually generate a break-lock condition, as the radar transfers lock-on to the chaff. Chaff is most effective against monopulse radars when employed on the beam in order to create the maximum angular tracking error. In DCS some active radar missiles and late Cold War SAM systems. (some of above mentioned informations comes from "Electronic Warfare Fundamentals 2000" book, some from "Characteristics and experimental study of radar scattering foil")

  13. The first step was letting the team know there is currently an issue that can be used to basically cheat right now, in that the IC doesn't catch these changes. The next step is to look at what these changes do beyond what we offer and see how to best offer them, while I appreciate the OP's work on the mod, and for bringing it to light, the better result is having it in the base game in some form.

  14. Altimeter numbering being too small. We will investigate that more. For the time being we have no intention on changing the cockpit labels or weathering though - I am putting it like that to not create false hope. I would still like to see your list though, we're always open to discuss/ rethink, and your feedback will help greatly. Thank you!

  17. if youre moving tdc vertically on attk rdr, the shape of the scan volume doesnt change. therefore nothing in az/el should change either. that is correct. the problem is something else, there is some kind of a math bug in calculation of the bottom and top yellow lines of the box. perhaps it doesnt take into account that bars are overlapping, making the box larger than correct.

  21. Unfortunately ED has a habit of ignoring these important things, not just countermeasures, but also half-breed simulations of smarter weapons, sensor suites on modules etc.. And not only that, just for the curious, look at the years old bugs in for example BF109K-4.. and what about buggy supercarrier, effect of clouds on sensors etc., we can talk about these things for days, and the ED rarely ever responds to that.. I absolutely admire Gumidek persistence in pointing these things out, I've honestly given up.

  22. The only way this will be fixed is to keep going at it . This has been going on for years . I'm tired of straining my eye sight looking for targets. VR is amazing. But this game has problems in spotting and LOD .

  23. We get a reply yet nothing about your going to fix this dam problem . . FIX THE PROBLEM . Maybe we should boycott you like Bud-light . lol ..... Maybe your start fixing things . Ten pages about the spotting issues in DCS . Wow . !!!! Another combat flight simulator had the same problem only few years back . Same old people complaining about the spotting issues . Nothing was getting done . One Sunday afternoon an event that takes place every three months were the server is full to its max 80 players full real settings best of the best online campaign . WAS Empty . or very little players . When asked what's happened why so little players the answer was WE cant see targets they disappear . Within Three months and a POLL asking is there a problem with spotting and a 90% YES came back . It was fixed . We the DCS community have spent $100s if not $1000s of dollars on this product . It deserves looking into and fixing .

  26. Yeah, been a thing since forever, it's not so much a bug (though it's definitely a problem) but the consequences of having radars be fairly low fidelity (especially AI radars, which are very simplified). Chaff has always been more or less just a flare for radar guided missile, using identical mechanics (i.e simple probability) - only the F-14 and the Mirage 2000C consider chaff at all on their radars (with the latter doing slightly more to my knowledge). As for monopulse vs conical scanning, I can't name any radars that differentiate between monopulse vs conical scanning, though I'm hoping the HB F-4E will attempt to model the limitations of conical scanning (should be super susceptible to DECM employing inverse conical scanning, poor low altitude performance, susceptible to chaff (especially with a pulse radar)).

  27. Out of curiosity, what’s ********* about it? The Caucasus map is the Caucasus map, not the Caucasus-Turkey map. And the land around the southern, eastern, and northern margins of the Black Sea merely served to depict the shoreline rather than have an unbounded sea.

  29. Hi, I don't remember the exact name (T.A.R.G.E.T. ?), but have you installed any Thrustmaster software for the controllers? If yes, make sure it's up to date. If it's up to date, then maybe uninstall it completely and see if the problem persists? I have the same joystick and throttles (and also the pedals) and I have never experienced any performance issues from them on multiple PCs. I'm using the stock Windows 10 drivers.

  30. We did get a tease of an update from (presumably) the Orbx Discord (posted in the unofficial roadmap thread). But yes, very much looking forward to the Kola map - it's easily my most anticipated map by a long shot. Perhaps now that this forum has finally been opened after all this time suggests that we might be closer to getting an update?

  33. Should've never fired that to begin with. A 50nm shot is for targets coming at you, at similar altitude. Moving away and at low altitude was never going to happen, no matter the loft profile. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

  34. Happy to it. Might add some smoke in some cities to help with navigation and to give the East side fo the map a little more character and look. This would be similar to the smoke I have in St Lo or cherbourg for example.

  35. Thank you so much for your hard work. My Kiwi Grandfather flew a Mosquito B Mk.XVI in RAF 163 Squadron, which may not be exactly the same as what DCS offers but is close enough. As a young child, I displayed a lot of interest and would ask him many questions. He opened up and shared his experiences, something my father never had the opportunity to hear, as the war was a forbidden topic in their household during his upbringing. Later in life, it has been a thrilling experience to learn about the DCS Mosquito. Your campaign, particularly the night missions, has provided me with a glimpse of what it would have been like for my grandfather. To make it even more immersive, his Navigator was Welsh. One story he told me was about a close encounter with a court-martial when he fiercely confronted the squadron leader for attempting to reassign his navigator to another inexperienced pilot. He was enraged and believed it would be a death sentence, so he did everything he could to retain his navigator. Fortunately, his efforts paid off, and both of them survived the war with only a coin-sized hole from flak in the tail. Anyway, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for V for Victory. It truly is a dream come true to come as close as I can to something that has had a profound impact on my life. I have attached a picture of him on the left with his ground crew, and his navigator on the right, in front of their Mossi D for Duck.

  37. Hi. It's a feature by Heatblur called "Forge". Some real Tomcats had these cables because buttons kept popping out. See here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/newsletters/c744e9553404c4ac754e9867ec712b30/ I believe Forge elements are turned on or off inside each Tomcat livery.

  38. I will ask the team to take another look, but please keep your feedback back civil, no matter what you think we do take care of many issues and tweak when evidence is found, but we will take our time, rushing changes leads to more work and errors. People who claim to be knowledgeable on various aspects of our aircraft are not always right and send wrong or conflicting evidence so we have to be very careful. thanks

  40. Not sure if you're aware, but there is a dark-mode option availble on the site. Right down the bottom of the page under the social media icons is Language - Theme - Privacy Policy - Contact us. Click on theme, and you can choose Darkmode. Note: The darkmode option of this side does have some bugs, but it may give you what you want without having to use extensions or otherwise.
