By the way, here's a short update of what I'm working on right now. It was suppose to be a rather small project with a single unit asset and nothing super fancy. But it turned out to be fighting me on every part of the journey. Here's a sneak peek of it though.7 points

The newly added German Mammut radar sites are an awesome addition, they look nice! However, it is a bit unfortunate that they were not placed at the historical location of German radar sites. There are many radar sites for which the exact historical location is known, we have actually research these precise positions for many of them for our missions. I'd love for the radar sites on the map to be moved to the correct locations. As an example below is Douvres radar station. This one is very famous, since it was held for a long time by the Germans after they were encircled at the first day of the landing. Today, there is a museum there, and most bunkers that had the radar antennas are still visible, even on google earth. Yet on the DCS map, the radar was placed on the nearby coast, 5 km from the correct site. See the pictures below for an illustration:5 points

Haha! I love these 'guess what it is' challenges! And the winner is @Nick_17 ! It is the Chinese CJ-10 (earlier called the DH-10) ground launched land attack cruise missile. It's based on the Kh-55 and the Tomahawk, capable of subsonic terrain following long range strikes. There are three of them mounted on a WS2400 8x8 chassis.5 points

Four months is pretty typical for a DCS module. If it goes over six then that would be unusual.4 points

Nah, the shape of the vehicle does not match, it does not quite look like a tomahawk and the camo looks different too, i bet on a chinese CJ-10 Long Sword4 points

Camp David accords really changed the orbats of this theater - 1-3 billion USD per side from 1982. So its all in the date as to what to expect. Egypt is fairly easy to work with. DCS has it's limitations with SAM group composition that makes it work, but actually you do see search radars in these installations also, sometimes. Typically on the copy/paste SA2 sites the tracking radar is on the large elevated center building, the launchers around then you have 1 or two elevated ramped sites for a combination of Search radar or EWR. The crosses with four bunkers are for a SHORAD unit, the missile storage and loader wagons are sat in the corners of the site. For DCS you can swap between systems 2,3,6 at will and I've even done the setup with the S60/S57+firecan for an anti air artillery battery (which is woefully underused online, come on guys, get with the FUN)) I don't think I will do a template this time around because at least in Egypt's case, a lot of these sites are dummy sites and they will have mixed things up as you would expect for any military force. People creating battlespace templates should attempt to use SAM templates that switch between live and offline/dummy at mission start. For Israel, only thing I noticed was that the Patriot system launcher sites have berms that are in the wrong directions - i.e. they dont shield the blast. I coudlnmt work out how to orient them as Patriot is a very 'pointy' system that should always be lined towards the threat axis.4 points

I was going to post these in screenshots, but actually wanted to discuss if anyone ever trained on this. I'm retired Army Aviation as a UH-60 mechanic/CE/TI, and so Fort Eustis is sort of a second home. I currently live in Richmond area, and once lived about 20 miles from Eustis. Anyways, last year I was down at Eustis taking a look around to see what had changed, and ran across this H-64 out just of a road in the woods. I believe it is/was probably used as a trainer for BDAR (Battle Damage Assessment & Repair). Just wondering if anyone knows the history, and if anyone ever actually trained on it and can confirm that's why it's out there. I wonder if it was ever used in combat, maybe Gulf I, etc. I spent my career at times around the same UH-60's, for instance when we turned in 79 and 80 models to pick up new factory fresh models when I was in the 82nd Airborne back in the 80's, lo and behold all those aircraft we turned in were sitting on the ramp in Richmond Virginia with the ARNG when I left the 82nd and joined the Guard full time. Including the first H-60 I ever crewed, 80-23464, which Virginia had for several more years. 20 years later, my former Battalion sent me a photo of 80-23464 when he saw the aircraft sitting somewhere out in Nevada. So I get a little sentimental about the airframes themselves, and their little idiosyncrasies and problems. Always makes me a little sad when I see one abandoned like this. Poor thing sitting out in the middle of the woods, with no companions, not even the dignity of becoming a display somewhere or sitting in a boneyard. I marked on the map the approximate location if anyone is ever on Eustis and wants to see this abandoned piece of history.3 points

How is this a surprise to anyone who's been around the block with RAZb, there track record of any module they released has been poor at best, with updates, releasing it and the list goes on. Just because you pre ordered it won't make it come any faster. It is what it is, when the DCS team and Raz they have a module that passes the first release test it will be out. It's a complex jet so let them get it to a standard the we can accept. I wait just like you players, if you can't wait ask for a refund, I mean its just silly some of the comments I see in the last few pages. Some of you guys should of never pre-ordered it lol3 points

Hello, a common Egyptian modification on their early Migs, were launch rails for the Sakr 78mm rockets, a locally developed version of the Orelikon rockets. It is is difficult to find images of Egyptian MiG-15s, yet alone with Sakrs, but here are a few I managed to find,a s well as a color profile by Tom Cooper and a few images on MiG-17s3 points

I pre-ordered mine in February to take advantage of the discount that was being offered, and then moved on with life, knowing it would be several months just like it was with every other EA that I pre-ordered in the past. Lots of other things going on, and never enough hours in the day to worry too much about this one thing. No worries.3 points

The pilot is the same, you can see it here: As for the animation of external gauges, I think it will work. And on the cornering speed issue, it's early days yet, but the manual describes everything, so I'll do something about it. I'm also slowly working on both the external model improvements, and the cockpit animations are also in progress. And finally, let me give you one small (but of great importance to me) surprise. I have joined team AviaStorm! Keep your fingers crossed and stay tuned for news!3 points

I thought i was the only one experiencing this. Completely unscientific.. But did we lose a few degrees of nose authority at full 30AOA with the last 2 FM updates? I know wing rock and transonic drag was moved around to be more realistic to match the charts. I ask this because I used to be pretty even with my buddy in a Hornet by getting him slow and dancing on the stick and rudders, i was *just* able to hang with him in a 1 circle. And it could go either way in kills. For example i used to be able to nose over with rudders going slow vertical, or be able to squeeze just a few more degrees of nose attitude to get a shot off while really pouring on the AOA. Now he just dominates me and I can't seem to get the Cat to do what i think I was able to do with the high AOA stuff earlier in the year. And man do rudders feel a lot less effective at high AOA... Even on the deck where I used to dominate him in the 2 circle, I'm pretty much helpless now. Maybe I've just flying poor BFM but it's been difficult fight in the Cat lately. If that's what the real jet is like than so be it - but i didn't see any notes and would like clarification or if it's just me. Sent from my Pixel 7 Pro using Tapatalk2 points

What does your gaming chair have to do with it? Also, how did you manage, before we got the Jester speedcalls? I mean it’s subjective opinion , but „necessity“?No. Nice to have? Yes.2 points

This is going to be another beautiful addition to our DCS helicopter hangar. So looking forward to flying this beauty in missions. We are starting to really see some nice variety in helicopters in DCS. We've got the heavy gunships, light attack-recon, transport-assault, heavy lifters are coming like the Chinook. I would only hope one day to get some medium lifters-transport like Blackhawk or Puma etc. You got to love where DCS is heading.2 points

I'd argue it is a trust issue. I got a copy from Baltic Dragon's Google Docs, linked by him personally, and also linked by him on his Discord. In that regard, I trust that the file is as virus infested as if it was hosted by ED (meaning not infested at all, hopefully ). When BD's transfer limit was reached, you guys are free to trust that Rudel, I, and possibly others, shared the exact same file from alternate locations, or you can choose not to trust us and just wait until it either gets published on the ED site or until it is shipped with the F-15E in the docs folder. I did include SHA1 and SHA256 sums with my mirror location and people should be able to compare those to the file they got from BD's Google Drive, but I'm not aware of anyone actually checking. Not sure what you mean that those links can be redirected; https://tinyurl.com/f15manual-mirror redirects to https://www.yurgon.de/tmp/F-15E Manual 23.06.14.pdf and instead of changing the redirect, I could just change the file on my server. =========== All things considered, I'd say it's a courtesy on behalf of BD to share the file via an easy to use and very widespread service, and it's also a courtesy by forum and community members to help out and provide mirror locations as the primary went down. Anyone who's a bit cautious just needs to wait a little, nothing wrong with that. But the people here who asked that the manual be released via ED's site or not at all... jeez, just effing wait a couple days/weeks/whatever, guys, and simply don't download it until then. You'll even actually get the added bonus that a lot of issues with the manual will have been fixed by then courtesy of all the community members who already submitted them.2 points

Bottom line. Regardless of hardware, push the dang button. Either put an input in and then push the button (and perform appropriate stick recenter it procedures based on special options selections) or push the button, make the input, release the button (and perform appropriate stick recenter procedures based on special options selections). Yes, with the hold modes OFF you can “bump” the force trim, I.e. performs short press after making a micro adjustment of the controls, this will not lead to a SAS saturate (except for heading, depending on conditions, wind direction and magnitude) because you haven’t commanded the holds to hold anything. Once you bring the hold modes on, you need to press and hold, fly to the desired state, and then release the force trim button. The reason you have to do this with the hold modes on is because you need to center the SAS so it has its full authority when you let go of the force trim switch at the desired flight control position. The force trim button updates the FMC and the hold modes when they’re on what they should hold. There are no more words in the English language to explain this. This is how it works, this is the logic and interaction required regardless of if you have a stick that centers or a stick that stays in a position on its own. Push, the dang, button.2 points

We have watched the same videos and have been in touch with both. We are investigating as there is a conflict with the available performance charts for the Block 50. Both former F-16 pilots flew the Block 30 and not the Block 50, and the Block 50 is much more heavy aircraft that MAY explain it. Again, we are investigating and seek to make the most accurate simulation possible. thank you2 points

Everyone paid attention to the SAM places in Egypt, but they are different from the SAM places in Jordan (we did not do them at all), but I added them to to-do list. We will think about how to make them, because they are different from Israel and Egypt Everyone who did the review did not show what the places SAM systems in Israel look like, they are also different from Egypt.. I think it will be shown in the future2 points

Hello! with the new hornet model coming up, I would like to request two feature requests that can be user select-able settings (and synced in multiplayer), sort of like the Viper with the canopy bubble tint setting. The first would be the color of the flight suit. I believe it's quite common that USN pilots will wear a more brown/tan suit when operating in desert environments, and we now have four maps such a suit would be appropriate in. The other option I would love to see would be having a remodel of the old mask we currently have. The new mask shown in the recent newsletter is a good change as it's probably long been the new 'standard issue', but it has been stated that it was rather uncomfortable to wear. USN pilots were allowed to source and wear the older masks as long as they maintained them properly. I think both options would add a bit of flair when looking at the pit. Thanks!1 point

V 0.9.9 added. New missile program (loadout) added. There are 4 pre-flight programs available in loadout menu for 2 and 5 pylons. PZD ASh/SEAD - Antiship task, attacks cruisers and frigates with powerful air defence. SEAD task to attack land SAM. Standard loft and dive trajectory. PZD2 ASh/SEAD High Tr - the same as above, but missile follows different trajectory PZD2 Land attack - pinpoint task, attacks land targets as ballistic missile PZDA - Antiship task, targets are aircraft carriers and other ships without powerful radar. Missile will fly relatively low and seek target. You need 3-5 missiles to destroy one USA carrier. Remember to set high altitude and speed for H-6 bomber, and launch distance at least 150 km for low trajectory and 250 for ballistic. Please test and report bugs.1 point

Says someone that doesn't work at either company, has no idea what's actually going on has no idea when the release date actually will be has no idea what internal testing problems were discovered has no idea what the actual problems (if any) are, and what it takes to fix them has no idea if there's any connection to the Sinai map at all in the first place has no idea if the decision to delay came from Razbam or ED, or both has no real stake in getting the module out, and as bug-free as possible (and pls, don't start telling me the 50 bucks you spent on pre-order is some kind of lifechanging dollar amount) but somehow, actual beta testers who've seen this rodeo time and time again, and who have an awful lot of experience with these things, are the ones missing the point? I think not. The irony is rich.1 point

So if I understand correctly, the mesh always has that ammount of polygons independently where the plane is? don't make the tessellation while you are aproaching the place? oh.. that is bad. So I suppose it is something DCS would need to change to make it possible in the future. Or did you say that the mesh, is an object that you put over the default mesh? Don't know what is the "static mesh" In any case, it seems that the map won't be able to use that technology all around, and is a shame. Unless ED changes the code for it. Thanks anyway.1 point
