  1. Dear Virtual Fighter Pilots, Partners, and Friends, During the past 30 years, we have worked hard to bring you the most realistic combat flight simulators available for PC. Be it a WWII aircraft or a modern fighter our aim was and remains to offer realism and fun to the entertainment market. With the exceptional technical progress made in hardware and software, it is difficult to tell the difference between DCS and real-world footage. This is wonderful for you and for the industry in general. However, in the light of the current situation unfolding in Israel and Palestine, it is paramount to refrain from generating images which could be misconstrued and potentially put lives in danger. Therefore may we beg you to be sensible and avoid using DCS to create videos of this nature. Our thoughts are with everyone during these uncertain times, and we thank you, our dedicated and caring community for flagging such content and bringing it to the media’s attention. Fake news of this nature is too serious to be left alone and needs to be called out by those of you who know what to look for. Thank you for your understanding and for your support. Kind regards,

  8. Honestly I don't know who in real life would calculate actual gross weight in flight, but I'm betting it was the RIO. It would be very cool if we had a way to ask Jester through the wheel menu to calculate weight or max trap fuel for us.

  11. Campaigns for the A-10C II are included in the campaign packages for the A-10C. It's two campaigns in one package for all BFT, AFT and TTQ campaigns! They should show up in the A-10C II campaigns folder once installed. I've asked ED to update the website description but they haven't done it yet. The campaigns have been updated for the current DCS version but as with any patch update things could break so please report issues here: https://forum.dcs.world/forum/309-maple-flag/ Thanks.

  12. "DCS track file How to save a track for support and future replay Please fly the mission showing the problem. You always can set up your own quick mission to demonstrate the issue. Then close the mission, during the debrief screen you can save track. This track can be found in C:\Users\<User_name>\Saved Games\DCS[openbeta]\Tracks ..." the shorter, the better.

  13. Not without a rocket engine, at least. That said, I somehow doubt his Typhoon was modified in a similar way (and even the NF-104 didn't actually accelerate that well).

  14. They’re both full of <profanity>, and take you for fools. You should be angry at them for lying. Since the claim was instantly suspect when this video was brought to my attention, I ran the accel numbers months ago, and the result is commensurate with the G loading on a Cat shot off of a C-13-1 steam catapults found on Nimitz class aircraft carriers. If true, then generally speaking, the F14B performing an afterburner takeoff would be able to accelerate from 0-140 knots in 310 feet…without using the catapult The strange aspect was the exactness of the claim of “9.7 seconds”, which would have had to have been timed with a personal electronic stopwatch since the analog aircraft clock isn’t that granular. Why people do this is beyond me. Out of curiosty, I ran accelerations in the HB version of a clean F14B. -At 3000 MSL in level flight 150-610KIAS took 34 sec. -At 8000 MSL, with a zero G unload, it took 27 sec. -At 18,000 MSL, pointing the aircraft at the center of the earth, unloading to zero G, it took 17 secs (the distance required resulted in crashing into the water). -A clean DCS F16 for comparison, with it’s superior thrust to weight, using those setups took 30/24/20 seconds respectively. To achieve anything close to the claimed performance, we would have to triple the acceleration rate of the Heatblur F14B. I want to be in the room when @IronMike approaches @NineLine with that proposal. I was already working to address this claim with more detail is on my list for an article, but so far, there hasn’t been any determination by Heatblur on setting up a venue for it. I may look for an alternative, since the goal is to preserve the true technical aspects of the aircraft and how it was flown that will outlast me, long after I’m gone. Props to the gents here who smelled the BS and broke out their calculators- JoNay, Spurts, JCTherik, et al. Well done. Bonus Question: To triple the current acceleration, what increase in thrust would be required? Don’t worry about ram effects since they cancel out, what’s the general magnitude of the required increase?

  17. Very true, bomb damage is also terrible for naval stuff. A tiny ww2 submarine can take 2 direct hits from 500lb bomb and still only lose 50% health and continue to fire of its 20mm flak cannon like nothing happened. Not looking good for decent ww2 Pacific environment. But still want the anti ship missiles. Then ED can maybe sort out om their end.

  19. CH, can you upgrade the Flight III to SM-3 Block IIa? I also have noticed that SM-3 has a big issue intercepting YJ-21s because they fly this weird flightpath under it's minimum altitude.

  21. If I'm not mistaken, Airliniers like the A320 also move the whole vertical stabilizer for trim via a threaded bar inside the main assembly. So more like your RC craft. Same probably for more modern fighters that actuate the whole vertical stab as well.

  22. Still "correct-as-is"? To reproduce this issue: Spot any target at some range (preferably in TWS so alt is shown) -> open AZ/EL page on the left -> move antenna elevation so that the target is just about not inside altitude range -> observe that the AZ/EL page still shows the target inside the radar fov (yellow box) -> the discrepancy is that attack radar page shows that the target is outside the scan range while AZ/EL shows the target inside the scan range

  26. No, the F10 map is all that we (currently) have. It's a nice idea to add some visual guides, so if I have the time I'll add some smoke or flares that you can call in from the comms menu to enhance the visuals. My apologies for being unclear about that - if a POI's name is in "Quotes", and you go there, you are at the correct spot - but the POI currently isn't. I've spent some time to look up some of the most renown POI of that area, and some of them aren't yet represented by 3D objects. The Temple Mount is one of them. I'm hopeful that as time passes by, the intrepid people of OnReTech expand coverage of unique objects; I've even penciled in some time for a major update of this Tourist Map when the "Phase 3" update arrives come November/December: OnReTech have shown a couple of wonderful objects in their "Roadmap" thread, and I'll be happily hunting down now sights to explore (and of course am happy to accept pointers from our kind community for interesting additions to the "tourist" map)

  28. A track file would be helpful, but my guess for question 2 is that the airbase doesn't have parking large enough to support the cargo plane. As a result the aircraft will despawn on landing since it has nowhere to taxi to.

  29. Thanks @dburne . I have to admit I’ve paid particular attention to your commentary and experience with the Aero as I think your simming/VR goals are seemingly similar to mine so I appreciate your input. It appears that on top of the enhanced technology the Aero introduces (above and beyond that of the G2) the new DFR functionality is a real game changer so with the 50% cost reduction and the lack luster competition I’m inclined to make the jump at this point… thanks again

  32. The rule of thumb is (1.22 * sqrt of the delta height in feet). This returns the distance in miles, either divide to convert distance to NM or use 1.06 as the coefficient in the formula. Is the curvature of the earth modeled, or is it “flat” in DCS? The TACAN emitter is located on the mast on the carrier, at least 200 feet above the water as well. Guessing that isn’t modeled either. I’ve not checked to see if TACAN is masked by terrain either. TACAN operates on frequencies limited to line of sight.

  39. Hello Android, as mentioned after the release of the OSA Missile Boats I will be working backward to repair and or update a lot of the older mods as their weapons are out of date. It will take some time but I will do what I can. After a certain update a while back it seemed like the flags on all the ships flipped upside down. You can try flipping the flag in Paint and in some cases, it will fix it. And yes, I have the USCG Sentinel Class WPC in my inventory and will be released at some point. I really like the smaller coastal patrol boats. I will make note of your observations. I will reach out to you when i do update the USCG Vessels. Thanks. Thanks, HighMaintenanceB, I appreciate it. You know being a Navy Vet we all feel like there's nothing we can't accomplish or achieve but sometimes I think we all push ourselves a bit too far. I know my limits though and yes I really need to rest. Something I don't get enough of. Hello Pepin1234 it appears OSA Two has a Manpad launcher. I'm trying to incorporate it now but not sure it will be working on release. It will be added though. It will not be a soldier for the moment. The SS-N-2 Styx Missile is very powerful in DCS. It sunk an aircraft carrier with one hit. If they get within a couple of hundred feet of any ship. That ship will be sunk. The RIM Launchers appear to be more effective at close range than the other weapons in DCS and that includes the CIWS. The OSA CIWS works very well also. The Carrier weapons need some serious updating as they are weak at the moment. I guess that will be up to us to do it though. Thanks all for your feedback. I appreciate it.
