As I am sure this is small potatoes, I have to point this out. The Flight Deck Directors (Yellow Shirts) currently have a big UI labeled on the back of their cranials (flight deck helmet). The UI stands for 'under instruction' or unqualified person which would require another director (qualified) standing next to them. I know that it is small beans in the grand scheme of things, but I took a look at the screenshots of the up-and-coming improvements for the SC and the UI is still there. I know that you guys at ED have a lot going on and I appreciate it. Just whenever you can, can these be removed in the future? Thank you for all that you do.5 points

From Polychop Simulations: "Dear DCS community, The Polychop Simulations team wishes you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year! With the year coming to an end it seems like a good time to reflect on the past and look at the future. Let’s address the big elephant in the room first. While this year has not been the year of the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior release, we’re thrilled to finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. In fact, we’re approaching the end of the tunnel fast. While the development of the module hasn’t been exactly a smooth ride, the progress made in the past year has been immense. As the new coders took over the project from our parting engineer, they saw the need to either rewrite or refactor most of the code that drives the module to ensure the desired internal quality threshold in systems and the flight model as well as make it more efficient, dynamic and future proof. Artwork has been touched up and finalized. On top of that new features have been added which include but are not limited to Level 2 Manned-Unmanned System (L2MUMS), an overhauled Control Display Subsystem, Optical Display Assembly, Pilot Display Unit and the Improved Data Modem. Last but not least, the module has been sent to Eagle Dynamics and passed the flight model tests. All this would not have been possible without the continued efforts put in by our subject matter experts and testers who have stuck with us for many years now. We’re confident it will soon™ be time to lift the veil and break the radio silence surrounding the development of the OH-58D Kiowa Module. The past year has not been all about the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior though. While the original plan was to work on an overhaul of the SA-342 Gazelle after the release of the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior module, a decision based on the original planned development timeline, the newly formed team revised that plan and started to develop the SA-342 Gazelle overhaul in tandem instead. With the first few updates for the SA-342 released in 2023 we’re off to a good start but we’re not even close to being done. The SA-342 Gazelle will see intermittent updates, including but not limited to the flight model, A.I. gunners, a graphical facelift and English cockpit. We’d like to express our sincere gratitude to a number of contributors from the community who have dedicated their time and spared no efforts in providing the most excellent liveries that are now part of the module."4 points

Dear all, we would like to take the opportunity and thank you for your kind and tremendous support! You are simply the best community there is and we could not feel more blessed with all the enthusiasm you showed us and the very kind patience you give us - we do not take it for granted, and we take the responsibility it puts on us very seriously. 2023 has been an overall great year, despite some shortcomings and delays, we had hoped to have the early F-14A out by now, for example, but our promises to you of course remain and we will not stop working hard and doing our best until we fulfilled all of them. With the F-4 on the horizon - and many great things cooking in the background - we hope that we can up our game even more during 2024 and to finally also make good on the still remaining items for all our modules. What remains to say is that we wish you all a Merry Christmas and/or Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year 2024. I've said it before. I've tested all of my asset packs simultaneous, with all my assets even in the same mission without any conflicts. But I also know that there are mods out there that use my code without making it unique. If you install one of those before my asset pack, it will look like it's my asset pack that is crashing DCS.3 points

folks if you are having crashes you need to remove all unofficial mods and run a repair or verify if steam. Lets not derail currenthill's thread. if you still have issues post in the crash section thanks3 points

Market is easily there for FF F-15C. I'd assume almost all of the current FC3 F-15C owners, many of the F-15E owners, some pilots from other aircraft plus many new players would definitely buy the Eagle. It's iconic - one of the TOP 5 most known fighters.3 points

У меня воспроизвелся провал при уничтожении основной колонны. Авангард был уничтожен до этого ботами, но провала там не случилось. Пока треков не надо, будут сам разбираться. -- Разобрался. В симуляторе сломано триггерное условие ЧАСТЬ ГРУППЫ В ЗОНЕ. Это уже исправлено во внутренней версии и будет добавлено в ближайший патч для опенбеты.3 points

According to the MiG-21 DCS manual and any other source I could find, the radar of the MiG-21 is supposed to be fixed. If the radar can not be moved, then these limits should be relative to the aircraft axis and not the horizon. Because why should the radar care about the horizon if its fixed and pointed along the axis? This is not the case in DCS. You can easily verify this yourself by flying behind a target and slightly below, then pull your nose up so that it points way above the target, and observe how the radar contact does not disappear until you have climbed significantly above the target. In this screenshot, I am about 150 below the target before I pull up the nose. You can observe that the target is way below the small aiming cross which is -26.5 mrad = -1.5° which should signify the lower limit of the radar. Specifically, we're at around -110 mrad = 6.3° ! We can happily aim at targets 6.3° below our centerline as long as we're below it. The same situation but reversed happens when you fly above, and then point your nose downwards. Here, I pointed my nose at the target and kept it ABOVE the centerline, which should make the target appear on the radar. It does not appear, until my altitude is almost the same as the targets altitude. Assuming that the radar is fixed to the horizon, then if you are 5km behind the target, this means that the lowest the target can be is sin(1.5°)*5000m = 130m below your altitude and the highest the target can be is sin(17°)*5000m = 1460m above your altitude. You can verify that this is approximately the altitude difference at which the contact starts disappearing, completely regardless of your aircraft attitude. An even more fun way to verify this is flying inverted. Here, the target is CLEARLY far below -1.5°. It is also to the LEFT, relative to my current (inverted) attitude, but to the RIGHT relative to a level upright attitude. The radar shows the target on the right. Just did a quick and dirty test on the Caucasus Take Off quick mission. Some data-points: At 2500ft and ~310KIAS/ Mach 0.5, the aircraft will take about 15s from a 30° bank to 10° bank and another 30s to reach almost zero bank. Heading change not observed. (R bank) At 3000ft and M0.6, starting at 30° she took 5s to get to 20°, another 10s (15 total) to 10° and didn't quite reach upright before the minute. Heading change not obsserved (L bank) At 15.000ft and M0.8 (~400KIAS) at 90° bank, she took 8s to get back to 60°, rolled through 30° at about 18s and never reached less than 10° of bank before I had to jank her out of the dive that had developed. The nose went through about 40 degrees of heading change. (L bank) Power = iso, same for all trims.2 points

Hello Cuurenthill. We should apparently see the arrival of the Afghanistan card in 2024 (finally). Could we hope for enemy insurgent units. ED adds more but I find that the infantry is still not numerous enough. Too bad because the fighting in Afghanistan was most often in contact with infantry. Thank you for all the work accomplished. I dont have any unofficial mods and I get no crashes. There have been many crashes with unofficial mods in DCS after the last patch, again I would suggest removing all unofficial mods and running a slow repair2 points

Hey CH, I'm happy to report that I now for the first time can finally hear engine sounds from all the Armour units, I'm pretty happy with the results. Thanks again for all your hard work and help, I greatly appreciate everything you do for the DCS World Community! You are without question the best creator out there. whats the turn/slip indicator showing? Rudder trim is oft forgotten. some load outs could create a lot of yaw moment. If you try to fix it with roll trim you'll get a very unstable aircraft2 points

Also ich habe das grade mal ausprobiert. Nach Anleitung installiert und eine Mission gestartet. Im Browser waren dann alle Einheiten die in der Mission gesetzt waren als "DCS-controlled" zu sehen und ich konnte mit 2 clicks neue Einheiten hinzufügen und diesen einen Wegpunkt zuweisen wo sie dann auch brav hingefahren sind. Einfache Befehle sind auch mögliche aber anscheinend nicht mehr als 1 Wegpunkt oder Befehle wie "orbit" Was ich nicht hinbekommen habe ist die Verbindung wenn ich meinen dedicated server starte. So ist der nutzen halt leider recht eingeschränkt.2 points

On control bindings at options. Lshift + z brings the speed back to normal without any need for time compression indicator, which is good. Anything on screen in DCS should be kept at minimum and optimally zero. I've set Lctrl + Lalt + X for my nvidia overlay to help against double bindings.2 points

@Eight Ball I also discovered the errors while troubleshooting CurrentHills mods today. Game still launches ok with these errors but not sure if any missions with these assets are affected. I would love to know if there is a plan for this VR headset to work with DCS or other Windows applications but I cannot find any evidence of it yet. This is especially interesting to those of us with HP Reverb G2 headsets or others that rely on Windows Mixed Reality (WMR) services that Microsoft announced they are ending.2 points
