You think the lack of datalink stops combat? You’d be sadly mistaken. The jet spent over 15 years of its life in combat without it. Other jets went longer than that.7 points

TGT SEP functioning the way you are describing makes very little sense for exactly the reason you list: you can't separate outward for the vast majority of symbols that will be displayed. Especially when you consider that the primary use case is separating multiple search symbols on the same bearing. Interestingly, what you describe is not separation "in a radial fashion", as you put it. Radial separation is defined as: "Given some central reference point A, the radial separation between locations X and Y is the number of degrees (or radians, if you prefer) in the angle XAY". TGT SEP behaving in this way makes it a lot more useful because it breaks out symbols on the same bearing. I'm curious now if the reference material being used said "radial" and that word was misunderstood somehow.5 points

I think capability is what matters because DCS is not a strictly historical simulation. If you want to simulate real world 1980's/90's Germany/Poland, restrict ER's. If you want to simulate alternate history Germany/Poland where the USSR exported ER's, allow them. The plane itself should only be limited by its physical configuration. The historicity is up to the mission creator in DCS, as it should be. As a sim we can explore hypothetical or completely made up situations and I think that is a good thing.4 points

100% prepare for the worst hope for the best That said, both were featured in the video so that is always a good sign.4 points

For me it's about immersion. I actually like it when tweaks are made on a module that actually make the system less effective. Like the changes to the radar in the Mirage 2000. Currently the FC3 radar (while good for the time it was developed) is now very behind with what DCS is currently working with. Locking up targets in the MiG-29 currently feels lacking, and the instananeous IFF. requires a large dose of suspension of disbelief. I suspect that there will be some tweaks to the flight model, like the negative effects of having only one R-27 missile on one wing and it limiting your max AoA allowed. IMO it going to make the module feel more alive, and closer to an actual simulator, which is the appeal fans are looking for.4 points

DCS: Iraq We are also excited to announce an Iraq map coming to DCS. From Operation Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom to the War on Terror, Iraq has been one of the most significant flash points of the late-20th and early 21st centuries. The Iraq map will initially be centred on Baghdad to best provide War-on-Terror and War on Isis scenarios. Later, the map will be expanded south to provide older scenarios like Operations Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom.3 points

As stated in this thread and several others, the AH-64D FCR (or any radar system for that matter) has no way of knowing what targets are dead or alive. The implication of such is outside reality. In addition, the radar system will not blank out sections of the battlefield simply because a munition has been fired into that location. This too is beyond reality and good sense. If I was a tank commander and started seeing my vehicles getting hit by missiles, I would just radio everyone to park next to tanks that have already been hit if I knew those areas would be inhibited from being fired on. Pilot's are not just button-pushers. They must have situational awareness of the battlefield and use all available sensors at their disposal, along with good judgement and training, to determine the appropriate course of action. There are many other tools onboard the AH-64D that are used in combat; the FCR is never used by itself to just "scan and spam" Hellfires. Nor do fighter pilots simply fire BVR missiles at every radar target that appears in front of them.3 points

True. Plus both AIM-120A AMRAAM and R-27ER were sent in small numbers to evaluation units for testing in 1988. And both entered service only in 1991. AIM-120 and R-27ER/ET are basically a hardline dividing the previous Cold War/Desert Storm era and starting post-Soviet era with completely different world. In Cold War 1980s scenarios MiG-29 will cary R-60. R-73, R-27, but surely not R-27ER/ET anyway. Personally i think it will be a fantastic module, A variant with the best kinematic performance but the most rudimentary avionics, realistically recreated, with rich real life conflicts history.3 points

I am sure they will provide EN translated pit and HUD. I am going to use the original even though I do not speak the language. I can't see anything bad with learning those few Cyrillic words or phrases.3 points

Even if A used ET/ER in Russian service, still it should be definitely removed from G variant, neither Germany nor Poland had access to ER/ET, ED had this thing right,as default loadout is 2xR-27, 2xR-73 and 2xR-60M3 points

As a 6531 Marine Aviation Ordnanceman (USMC '80-'88) I have loaded my share of MK 82's equipped with snakeye fins. There is a small steel band the holds the fins closed. A Brass arming wire runs thru a clasp on this band and to an arming solenoid on the bomb rack that is mounted on the MER/TER. This was to give the Aircrew the choice of dropping it retarded or unretarded. The ejector racks on the MER/TER released when a CAD (Cartridge Actuating Device) was fired, opening the hooks and extending a piston (about 5") that ejected the bomb away from the rack. The arming wire was not pulled out of the retention clasp until the bomb was 2 to 2.5 feet from the rack.3 points

Hi, We understand people are excited but we shared what we were ready to share in the newsletter and the video. So from the newsletter and video we shared the terrain centre will be Baghdad Later, the map will be expanded south to provide older scenarios like Operations Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. In the video we also featured the Zargos mountain regions in the east. we will share more details in a reveal newsletter as soon as we are ready, and that will have much more detail of what to expect and the size. Thanks3 points

А еще я заметил,что в последнем драйвере Nvidia появился пункт "cuda sysmem fallback policy" и я выключил эту функцию и многие игры,в том числе и ДКС,стали идти плавнее и в 80% пропали фризы,заикания.2 points

Yeah we need complete sets of aircraft even of the Majority are AI, the Hellcat needs stuff to eacort to targets and also need targets to shoot down.2 points

Be able to 3D view object and terrain on editor, so you do not need to run the mission to see if you have putted correct the ground unit. This will have a lot of time in mission editing.2 points

Actually, I prefer photo references, as their color accuracy is usually better than drawings, for example: MiG-29S from Peru looking forward to flying this bird soon. Cheers! Eduardo2 points

Easiest way to interpret the statement is that it’ll be released when ready. Pointless even trying to guess. If you assume 2025, it’s unlikely that you’ll be disappointed2 points

J-10 would be great, even as AI only. Really missing for a lot of modernish scenarios involving China.2 points

Apologies mate, absolutely not my intention to go hostile ever. I am truly sorry I came across this way for you. I agree that there is FM that seems decent although some people claim otherwise. What I really meant was the code itself, the way it is written (aka spaghetti code or DX11 API vs. Vulkan API, etc). I figured FC3 is completely different to FF modules and not directly copy-paste ready, that's why I thought it would be a ground up work on all aspects and not only 3D. Did not mean to offend you mate.2 points

You can definitely IFF a STT target, after the latest update you can even have it done automatically. If the target is friendly the radar contact will blink, easy to spot. You don't have to lock anything to enter TWS. You just push auto acq down and then immediately press forward or aft, depending on which TWS mode you want. No need to wait for it to lock. If there is a cluster of planes you just enter TWS mode, lock them up(it does this automatically) and it will interrogate all of them for you. Friendlies turn into circles. Simple. I've been flying the F15E since release and I've not had any problems with friendly fire. If the target is friendly the radar contact is blinking at you! If you still decide to fire that's on you. Also a tip: After the recent update you can turn on automatic IFF interrogation on STT and PDT targets.2 points

My wish for the scope of iraq map. Yepp, it looks pretty large at first. But with roughly 2,7 million square kilometers it's smaller than South Atlantic map ( 3.1 million square kilometers) and some time ago ED said, it's not the pure size of a map whats holding back in first place anymore, but the amount of assets. And at this point I just hope the mentioned upgrades of the development kit could allow such a map.2 points
