  1. Updated: v 1.2 (actual) DOWNLOAD LINK https://www.mediafire.com/file/0jfmq1akxec3q4x/Cold+War+Assets+mod+v+1.2.rar/file 24.06.2024 Tu-126 AWACS aircraft with Liana radar (predecessor of A-50 Shmel). Detects ships and aircraft at a distance of 200-300 km Tu-128M Long-range interceptor, works in pair with Tu-126 R-4TM and R-4RM AA missles, IR and SARH, 25-30 km range. Added simple collision shell for Tu-95K and Tu-126 so they could be shot down with a gun. KSR-2D decoy missle by Beldin for Tu-16. Readme in Doc folder. KSR-5 speed corrected B-58 wing tips position fixed No new liveries and numbers BANO and landing lights for Tu-126, landing lights for Tu-128 Material names are now unique for Tu-95K, Tu-126, Tu-128 Now I need to take a break from new units, rest, collect bugs and think about how to make the textures better. The technological ceiling has also been reached, if I have time I will learn how to create dynamic tail numbers, if anyone has it, please post a link to the manual (I work in blender).

  4. Rejoyce Hawkeye is back! I've been taking screenshots the last few days to compile a Tribute to Hawkeye post, to entice you back - but thankfully the community have rallied together already to do so. I remember back to version 1.5 of DCS when I first discovered your mods with Markindel, and it opened up a whole new world to DCS, that I can no longer live without. The mixed emotions of subsequent official updates to DCS, when ED added stuff, but broke the beloved mods. But your perseverance and fortitude to repair and add even more cool stuff. Hawkeye, please never forget that you are the cornerstone of the very talented DCS modding community, that brings immense joy to us mere users. Currenthill covers the modern assets with his clever code & impressive models, Admiral covers the modern sea lanes, VSN the flyable modules, TeTeTe the Vietnam era, Tripod3 the Cold War era, Eightball the Civilian assets...etc..etc.. But no one covers the World War II era like you do, you are the go to guy for this era and always have been. Thankfully others have joined like the Cuesta brothers etc, of the >500 mods I use, nearly 40% are from you! I am very excited for the upcoming ED WWII Marian's map and accompanying aircraft & assets - but not without your extensive coverage of the WWII Pacific theater. Apologies if we don't always comment, leave a like or thank you, and get lazy. I always appreciate your as advertised "Bottom Drawer Mods" and "full money back guarantee" on all your work. There are so many hidden gems, and I really enjoy some of the most obscure mods. 5. Hello, I see in the roadmap that the only item for the BF RWR is planned incorporation of new sounds. I wanted to make a report of the discrepancies of how the current RWR functions in DCS by comparison to how it functions in the real work (to the best of my understanding) and see if Aerges is aware of these issues, if the issues are different in the CE than in other variants (my reference is an F1ED which uses the exact same rwr), and what the plans for the future are. Thanks! Radar Bands In real life the BF RWR is only capable of detecting threats in the S (2-4 GHz), C (3.7-4.2GHz), and X (8-12GHz) bands. null In DCS, the BF is capable of detecting every radar no matter what. Here is a screenshot of the RWR displaying directional information for an 1L13 EWR which transmits at a frequency of 180-220 MHz in the VHF band. Nature of Threat Lights Aside from the sounds which are already being adressed by Aerges, the issue with these lights is related to the above situation with radar outside of the S,C, or X bands. According to the usage described in the F1ED manual, when a threat is detected there should always be at least one of these lamps illuminated. Essentially the only threats displayed should be "you are being tracked", "you are being tracked by a radar with TWS", or "you are being illuminated by CW (probably being launched at by a SAM)" Additionally, in DCS the CW light illuminates as a launch warning for air-to-air threats even when being launched on by a radar which does not guide with CWI or from aircraft that do not change radar frequency during/after launch such as the Mirage F1 itself. Locked by Mirage F1: Launched on by Mirage F1: Since the Cyrano IVM does not change PRF or guidance type during launch, there should not be any difference displayed for STT vs Launch. This is true of a number of aircraft in DCS as well. Direction Indication It is also my understanding that just like the threat lights, the directional indicators for the BF should only display direction to the strongest radiation source detected, which should correspond directly to the nature of threat lamp that is currently illuminated. In DCS, the BF displays direction to every radar that it sees, making it effectively useless in a busy environment. Especially because it's displaying search radars which it should not detect. If you made it this far, thanks for reading. If any of my information is incorrect or not applicable to the BF RWR in the CE/EE please let me know.

  6. Now I'm really confused with your statement. With all the augs on, or roll and yaw off, or any combination, the rudder authority is pretty much the same and you can move the nose all over the place on a gun run (not that you should, thats a stupid way to waste bullets IMO since you have NO idea where they are going unless the ball is centered). With Yaw aug off, the nose oscillates a few more times before stabilizing if you push then release rudder; with Yaw stab on it damps out pretty fast - but steady state rudder feels pretty much the same. Incidentally, the stafe technique used by F-4s in USAF was to bring pipper on target, track , shoot, track, then recover; shooting at about 3000' slant range or less, cease fire at 2000' and pulling out to avoid ricochets. This is from a pretty shallow (15 to 20 degree) dive. What plane do you get the "spray bullets with the rudder" from? And why cross controlling? That just makes your nose travel in an arc while you roll, while what you want is to put the flight path on the AOD (in the F-4 the top center of the gunsight is a pretty good point of reference for where the jet is going, depending on your seat height); unload, do a coordinated roll, then start moving the pipper up to the target. Again, where go you get your techniques from? Not saying they don't work for some other airframe, but they are not normal or usual for the F-4, IRL or in DCS. And yes, I do currently fly aerobatics in power and gliders, and have flown F-4s in the distant past - but OTOH am not a "gamer" so my priorities may be different. Anyway, the HB F-4 FM is pretty close to the real thing as I (and others) remember. It's not perfect yet, and a sim will always have some inaccuracies. Cheers, Vulture

  7. Hi, Thanks a lot for sharing all these assets, I will use them for background operations on my Kola missions. Wish I was more fluent on creating liveries so as to be able to help with your project, but for now I can only edit missions that make use of your aircraft: cheers, and thanks again Eduardo

  8. The "Duck Boats" DUKWs are still in use as tourist transport in harbor and river cities across the globe. The first "duck tour" company was started in 1946 by Mel Flath in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. The company is still in operation under the name Original Wisconsin Ducks. Boston"s Duck boats are colorful, bulky, boat-like vehicles that travel throughout Boston on land and on water. Boston Duck Tours are 80-minutes in length - 60 minutes on land and 20 minutes on the Charles River. 11. Hello Harrier fans I have adapted the file AV8BNA_Weapons.lua in the path "...DCS World OpenBeta\CoreMods\aircraft\AV8BNA\Weapons" so that you can now also use the FUZE settings for racks with multiple bombs. 15. Hi, We are aware of those and will work to solve them. Some of these (for example, the threat bands that can or can't be detected or the CW coming only from a SAM launch) require work-arounds to be able to represent them in the sim but our intention is to eventually have them modelled too eventually. All this to say that we are aware of the reported issues and will solve them but they are not quick fixes that can be implemented swiftly.

  20. Okay, they were in there. Removed them and still had the same result so I have something installed incorrectly. I am using OvGME to install the mod, both folders set to install into the DCS root directory. Not sure what else I need to do for install? EDIT: Did a full uninstall using OvGME and deleted all files from my computer, redownloaded using the link in the OP and reinstalled using OvGME and it works. Not sure what the issue was but that fixed it. Thanks for your help!

  23. I'm sorry that the REAL LIFE APACHE PILOT WHO ACTUALLY FLIES THE REAL THING AND ADVISES EAGLE DYNAMICS ON HOW TO MAKE THEIR MODULE MORE REALISTIC wasn't nice enough for you to listen to their answer. Because that's the way the helicopter actually works and functions. For clarity, this is like buying some sort of simulator for a 1998 Toyota Camry and asking 'Why does my car not immediately start when I turn the key to "start"? Why do I have to hold it down for a few seconds?' Because that's how the real thing works. That's just the way the aircraft is, and any further questions should be directed to the ghosts of the Hughes Helicopter Company and/or the McDonnell Douglas Corporation, which now are laid to rest on property owned by The Boeing Company.

  42. I thought I should clarrify something. In an earlier post you heard me say Tandem Rotor aircraft are very stable but in my last reply I said they are inherinetly unstable. I know that sounds a bit contradictory so I would like to explain. 1. WIth load carrying a tandem rotor aircraft is the easiest and by far the most stable platform you will have. CG control is extremely lax compared with a conventional aircraft. This is not to say that we didn't have to consider it, just that it was eaiser. In fact, prior to any flight we had to computer a PPC (Performance Planning Card) that considered everything from weights, altitudes, torques, etc. We also were required to compute a weight and balance form. We generally had a stack of "standard load" variant cards of each that we carried that we could reference, usually just to knock out our hover power checks and verify everything was capice. But outside of that we never were all to concerned with it. It was only with the heavier, non-standard loads that we would actually really have to dig into the weeds on that stuff. For example, hauling another aircraft under us or the gun crew loads I mentioned. Otherwise, the Chinook is incredibly stable as a lift platform. 2. Flying, with AFCS is incredible. When I tried on the AH-64D simultor I was shocked at just how little stability providing systems that aircraft had. I had to think "Is this how those barbarians live!" The Chinook has pitch control, roll control, altitude hold, heading hold and that was in the old CH-47D models. You get into the CH-47F the aircraft literally can do EVERYTHING for you. So with AFCS (or more correctly DAFCS in the F model) she is an INCREDIBLY stable platform. 3. Flying, with AFCS off. That is an entirely different story. As I mentioned before, the best way to describe it is trying to balance the aircraft on a pin set in the middle. There are these things called strakes and spoilers and a blunted aft pylon which provide a bit of change of the airflow over the airframe giving some stability but you will be dancing on the on controls to keep her straight and level. Don't try to do any abrupt maneuvers as you will likely find yourself facing a direction you had not intended. Each control inputs needs to be deleberate and thought through with counter movements in all the other channels at the exact same time. And once you get to were you want to be you will find she keeps wanting to go in different directions so you will constantly be making counter movements. To be honest though, if you can fly the Huey you can fly the Chinook AFCS off. In fact, hands down the best sticks in the Army were Kiowa Warrior pilots. They have no stability systems that I am aware of and man, can they fly! The one problem people tend to have when coming over from a tail rotor aircraft to a tandem rotor aircraft is remember DO NOT USE PEDALS when taking off! We had a huey guy who came over to chinooks. His first few flight taking off was a nightmare as he instinctively would kick in pedal to counter torque. All that does in a Chinook is cause you nose to spin! I can say, as the newb in this world of DCS but having tried a number of airframes, have faith! ED will give you a good product. Everything I have seen so far has been amazing and I am positive that even if the EA is missing a few things they will get it to you and I am positive you will love flying the Chinook! Some maneuvering tips and tricks for all of you in the chinook: To turn the tail around the nose use counter pedal/stick controls. So Left pedal, right stick should cause the tail to spin right around the nose. To turn around the center hook, just use pedals. To turn around the tail, use coinciding stick and pedal movements. So left pedal, left stick should cause the nose to spin left around the tail.
