A small collection of liveries for other peoples Mods - examples as per the image. You will need the original Mod to be able to uise these, they are not unique in themselves. Read the ReadMe for which Mods you will need. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/1i99bfzevs37h724ngmyn/CrazyEddies-Misc-Liveries-Pack..zip?rlkey=so7ymqgqa5oe5ib42degbeypi&st=0u2fcjss&dl=011 points

Some guidlines for this thread: Please dont post endless thank you's for anything - I'm more than happy to do this stuff for free, it just clutters up the thread and if you are happy then I am happy. If you have an issue or a question you can either pm me or post something here, quoting which Mod it is, I will respond when I can. I'm elderly and in poor health so I spend more time on my comode than I do on my pc ( that's a joke of course, but I do attend horpital an awful lot so be patient, I will get back to you) I will post an image of what the Mod is with a DropBox link below it (when they sort the stuffing thing out !!) - I will keep it simple as I can. Feel free to do anything you want with my stuff, credit me if appropriate.8 points

I would like to suggest the A-20G for a future module. There are several reasons. Firstly it's a single pilot cockpit plus an AI (or multi-crew human) dorsal turret gunner (2 x 50 caliber), which makes for easy crew requirements. The AI could also assist the pilot by calling out fighter threats. The American style radio system is designed for easy single pilot operation, simplifying DCS integration. The nose armament features 4 x 20 mm cannons and 2 x 50 caliber machine guns in the nose for awesome strafing performance. Additional armament can be 12 ATG rockets or up to 4000 pounds of bombs. The 240 Knot cruise speed and 820 NM range are perfect for many mission types. The systems are relatively simple. The aircraft served for no less than 7 nations in every theater of the world, making it usable in the existing Pacific, European, Middle East, and Asian Maps. The aircraft is ideally suited to anti-shipping, low level strafing/rocket attack, and medium level bombing missions. I believe that this aircraft would be enjoyable for a good variety of ground attack missions and would make maximum use of already existing ED maps and resources. Actual pilot operating handbooks and other manuals are easy to source and simple to read. Finally there is an existing airworthy A-20G flying in the united states that could serve as a subject for the project.5 points

None of the things you have mentioned have been forgotten about, they are all in progress, they are huge tasks that take a lot of time. We share news when we can, usually as we reach mile stones in the development. I get its difficult to wait for these items for some, but please try to understand the teams are working as fast as they can with the resources they have. thank you5 points
-
Kept both copies. Ever the optimist I feel this situation will eventually be resolved, and it is too important an aircraft not to have in DCS.5 points
-
My point is ED have put lots of coming soon items in these news letters over many years, with maybe a 50% rate of them actually arriving, I'm just saying don't get too excited yet. Some examples Vulcan, Supercarrier briefing room, save game option for missions, dynamic weather, dynamic campaigne, etc, plus plenty more I have forgotten about. Kept it. The radar is too good. That said, if it gets resolved, not-refunding it just means RB gets my money anyway, and I still have that initial discount, and hopefully I get to play with my GBU-15 at some point.4 points

Original post here. Pimax is happy to announce it has been developing its own solution for OpenXR runtime as well as Quadviews foveated rendering, coming to Pimax Play in the near future. The beta test for this is starting soon, with a release later this year. This is yet another step in our aim to provide the ultimate virtual reality experience with our VR headsets, such as the Pimax Crystal Light. What is the OpenXR Runtime? OpenXR is an open standard developed by the Khronos Group — a crucial piece of software that manges the communciation between your VR/AR hardware and the OpenXR API. Essentially, when you use OpenXR, this runtime acts as a translator, converting your application's requests into a format that your hardware can understand and process. In practical terms, the OpenXR runtime simplifies the management of multiple VR and AR devices. It allows applications to function seamlessly across different devices from various manufacturers, all while using the same codebase. Why Pimax Play integration Our decision to implement this feature comes with after user requests, as well as our wish to improve the Pimax Play experience. To have all software features integrated into Pimax Play greatly increases usability and adds to user convenience, without the need for having to download and install additional software. This new development also enables us to continue evolving the runtime. A shoutout to Mbucchia PimaxXR has been developed by Mbucchia, the visionary behind OpenXR Toolkit and PimaxXR, including the Quadviews features — which enormously improves performance in supported VR-games. Mbucchia's contributions have been instrumental in advancing the Pimax ecosystem, and we're proud to build upon his ideas and contributions with our own Pimax OpenXR runtime. Mbucchia has done more for VR than anyone could reasonably expect, and brought software that has powered VR headsets from users all around the world.3 points

I said nothing about deadlines. I said it's time to stop making more promises, and start completing unfinished products/features. There are so many unfinished projects, yet then just keep announcing more...why? They clearly do not have the resources to complete the unfinished projects in a reasonable timeline, why keep adding more projects?3 points

Depends where those 4500 lbs are located at. And how you are flying. Remember that the totalizer includes the internal wing tanks, which do not feed with the door open. So if the totalizer shows 4500 and you had the door open, it is totally possible that those 4500 lbs were in the wing tanks, not in the fuselage cells. The moment cell 1 goes dry, your engines will flame out. You can check Cell 1 fuel by holding the "Feed Tank Check" switch behind the tailhook lever. If you are flying afterburner and perhaps some negative Gs for a bit longer you can flame out easily even with all other internal tanks still full, as the pumps alone wont be able to keep up with afterburner consumption. You need a positive gravity feed to hold the engine alive during longer AB use. There is of course also the possibility that you damaged some valves or the fuselage pumps, blocking transfer between some cells. It is really hard to go in blind here. A track would be great.3 points

If anything i have said has come across as arrogant then i sincerely apologise, that wasnt my intention. Draconus, you are right that one we cannot just go off feelings to say that the model is wrong. What made me question slightly was the nozzle exit area issue, and people modifying to be in line with tavarish's calculations getting higher performance result at high altitude. HOWEVER Rustbelt makes an excellent point - without the source code i guess there is no way of knowing what the nozzle exit area is actually doing in the game. For all we know, they may have needed to set it to that value as a work -around, fudge fix for some other issue, but if the final result ends up being accurate then that is a successful work around.3 points

You do what customers do best - play game and pay money - and let ED do what they do best for 30 years. DCS is a constant process. There's no finish or project to complete. Devs share what they plan or already work on. Some of this take years and some may even be abandoned but most of it come up to life eventually. Wait and see2 points

In large measure this depends on how close you are to the monitor. I know someone with a 1440p 32" monitor which I've seen first hand, never occurred to me that the pixels were too big. I will say that, if you want to avoid larger pixels, the obvious 'next step' would be 4k, but then you have to consider your GPU (which you don't specify).2 points
-
I would say 32" with 1440p is still perfectly fine. (I have a 48" 4K so basically the same pixel size or ppi). However if eye candy is a priority - why not go 4K? (I can see some reasons, but I'm interested in yours) p.s. on the note of eye candy - maybe considering OLED over IPS is even more benficial than resolution....2 points

If we had a proper unit fuel API (heck, a frigging stop-gap unit:setFuel(percent) for the main tank(s) would probably suffice to tide us over) these ridiculous discussions would be a thing of the past. Any scripter worth their salt would have created a good air-to-air refueling script quickly.2 points

I wish I could help on the development of the AI Skyraider but I am afraid that is above my pay grade. My contribution to the campaign(s) we make, and the Vietnam mission revolves around storyline for accuracy on our coop campaign(s) and historical accuracy on unit types and missions we put together on the Marianas (Vietnam) mission. Our IT/ME mission maker is the real wizard and brains behind the scripting and actual design of the mission. Sad to say, my PIMAX died over the weekend (first gen from the kick starter days) and now I am awaiting a new Crystal Light. Grounded until then. We will try to incorporate your Skyraider for sure. Real work has had me out on travel, so I only got back this weekend. There is a lot of talent on these forums so I am hoping someone can reach out and assist you. Looking forward to finding a way to script attacks with the Sandy. Great story about the Phantoms and Vipers. I too have been lucking enough to grow up around the majority of the US inventory. When the Phantoms left, we still had Tomcats lingering around but they too were eventually replaced by the Hornets on base. Our base used to be a Naval Reserve base, but now it is Joint Naval reserve to include Navy, Marine, and USAF. Pretty cool because now it's a gang bang of all military aircraft. On any given day we F-35's, F-16's, F-18's, C-130's, T-38's and the occasional B-52 coming and going. Every once in great while we are graced with the odd F-15 or F-22. As far as your final question, I would honestly say not to invest time into SFM models unless its a massive burning passion of yours. The Skyraider is already in developments along with the F-8 Crusader. The guys making the A-1 are actually using a real one locally where I live to create theirs. Then we already have a Mig-21 in game. I am sure the community would never complain about a free SFM mod but to be honest, the bar for free mods is being set pretty high these days. I would say for us, we only fly the Cayuse, A-4, and Bronco with the occasional C-130. Unless your plan was to match or come close to this fidelity, I would say AI is the best way to go. We need more ground units for that period to go after in the jungle to. There is some pretty cool AI tech (website) out there now where it will create the 3D assets for you and then you incorporate the model it makes into 3D3Max or whatever software you use to create mods. You can use a single image or multiple to have it create the object. It requires a monthly fee but there has been some neat stuff made. If I was savy enough, I would be tempted to start making Vietnamese ground assets utilizing that website to create the foundation of the 3D object and then sculpt it from there. Wish you the best of luck and look forward with what you decide to keep bringing to the table. We need more Vietnam era assets. I appreciate all the hard work you and your team do for the community. Links below to the cool AI site for creating 3D models. Might assist in the mod community. There are more out there and growing. Maybe -- just maybe -- some people's impatience could be sated -- along with the curiosity of others -- if some more information was provided on plans and roadmaps, like: 1) Vulkan We need to review/rethink/rewrite 9999 lines of code, we have done 2000 so far. There came up interdependencies with project 2) which affects scheduling, planning, cooperation etc. 2) MT We need to review/rethink/rewrite 9999+1 lines of code, we have done 5000 so far. There came up interdependencies with project 1) which ... 3) Dynamic Campaign Design Phase: Completed. Coding: Need to create AI strategy logic, unit and resource spawning, rework pathfinding, etc. Approximately 10k lines done so far, probably another 10k needed. 4) SuperCarrier Need you to buy enough modules so we can bribe someone to sneak me on board and get a 1st hand experience for better quality design. But then, maybe, if ED did this, players would demand more details, would say they could do better (some possibly could), complain about progress speed, have different ideas, etc.2 points

HB made the model to match and recreate real life test shots. There's not much more data on the performance so everything else is theory but it also matches that. You also don't know the model fully, not all is in lua files. So what are you looking for? What makes you think it's wrong? You have to base it on something more than feeling.2 points

Actually, we got development pictures, of a third party product and info of a mission editor update. I wasn't even aware they are working on a new Instant Action Generator! It's a newsletter that is scheduled weekly, like the daily roll call... if there's new things in the pipeline (like the new IAG) they tell us, if not there are updates and reminders of things in progress. I personally prefer the weekly status updates, to being left in the dark.2 points

There are a few things to consider with this though. 1) The A-10C and Ka-50 benefited from other work outside of DCS that afforded much more detail and the permission to have that detail, not every module has this sort of access and we MUST be careful what we model and what we don't. 2) If you expect a 1:1 simulation of a military aircraft that are still in service or recently in service you will be disappointed. Even the A-10C as much as it had/has is still missing a lot of things that are simply not allowed to be included. This includes flight modelling, weapons and systems. We are not making something that can be used to train pilots to fly, and we are especially not making something to train pilots to fight against. 3) This is an entertainment product, a game. It is also very complex for many things that we are allowed to model, it doesn't mean that the instructions on how to model it are in a manual somewhere, in that the code needs to be created for any source material we can use. You cannot copy and paste that into DCS and it magically works. Many of the systems on the F/A-18C, AH-64D and F-16C are more complex than many things seen in the early modules. Even the CH-47F has a completely different Flight Model than we have ever done, so it has its own challenges. DCS is and always will be a journey, especially when you get in on day 1 of Early Access, some days it can be frustrating but I think I can safely say that all our modules, even the ones not complete are still a ton of fun. And even though they are not 1:1 simulations, we hope you find them to be, when completed, to be a very faithful and immersive experience. All the aircraft listed above are still being worked on. We are not done with them and they will continue to get better. Thanks2 points

Breaking the Radio Silence! I have one foot in each camp: as both a simmer and a developer, I understand the frustration of not hearing about your favorite product for years, wondering if the project is still alive or making progress. On the other hand, I know the fear of communicating about an unfinished product, afraid of being misunderstood or misinterpreted. Today, I've decided to break the radio silence and not just talk to you—but show you where Tacview 2 stands. This titanic project, started years ago, is very much alive and moving forward, albeit slowly but surely. I'm just as eager as you to see it completed. At the same time, I don't want to rush it like I did with Tacview 1 back then, so I've decided to take the time necessary to ensure everything is done properly. I invite you to visit the dedicated page I’ve just created to learn more about the current state of the project. https://www.tacview.net/documentation/tacview2blog/2 points

First you need to understand how the Nav panel works: Especially the Mode Knob (1), whose positions are named very confusingly. TGT 1, TGT 2 and RESET sound as if you could store two waypoints and perhaps reset that, but that is not the case. So let me provide perhaps better names: * TGT 1: "Current panel coordinates" - this will navigate towards whatever coordinates are currently visible/entered on the panel (10). Thats it, no memory whatsoever, just plain navigation towards the coordinates currently on the panel * TGT 2: "Memorized coordinates" - this navigates towards coordinates that you have memorized in the computer. This is done by first putting the coordinates on the panel (10) and then moving the mode knob (1) to the springloaded RESET position. RESET essentially means "load these coordinates into the memory". So, now you can either select TGT 1 for the current coordinates or TGT 2 for memorized coordinates and the pilots HSI will provide the heading and distance to it, thats all For the HSI to actually steer towards the waypoint, the pilot has to select NAV+COMP on the HSI source right next to it: For the WSO, its the BDHI that shows the data, while he has to select the mode also right next to it: If you are using Jester, you can simply setup a flightplan with multiple waypoints through the Jester UI. Jester will then automatically work his panel to navigate you through the flightplan point by point (this is called leapfrogging).2 points
