  3. I know that nothing can replace the original, and I do not attempt to. Until the great SAR servers return, please allow me to humbly offer up my dedicated server "cfrag's Flight Line" (no password required) that has the following helicopter-based missions in a 4-hour rotation (meaning that the mission changes every 4 hours): Angels of Caucasus (Caucasus SAR) Angels of the Levant - Syria (Syria SAR) Angels of the Levant - Sinai (Sinai SAR) Cesar Caucasus (Caucasus CSAR) Dustblower MPT (Syria Helicopter Landing Competition) Heroes of Flame (Caucasus Helicopter Fire-Fighting) Let's hope for a speedy return of the originals. Cheers, -ch

  4. Hello, I'm pretty late (34 pages late) to this convo, but why hasn't ED tried scaling LODs instead of the simple black 2D pixel method DCS does now? There's other games that already do this, and it works. You also still get to see the color of the plane/vehicle you're looking at (since the pixel dot just makes everything black), and you also get profile detail (because the model shape is better than a square pixel). Plus you can see the contact size change depending if the plane is flying toward/away from you, or perpendicular, or at its largest, perpendicular and in a bank, making the contact very easy to see. Versus the 2 dimensional pixel ED seems so adamant to use. Use size scaling LODs!

  6. A lot of my assets would probably still work with older DCS versions. But since I more or less need to update broken assets with every DCS version chances are a lot of them won't work as intended. For this reason I only support the latest version. There are too many changes with each DCS version to be able to support multiple versions.

  7. @ Rudel thank for your links....you are always prompt to help peoples here and i really appreciate it....But my post was sarcastic : i'm just sad that some of the modules developped by ED seems so poor after 3 years since release... F18 is an exemple for me : i've learned a large part of the module with the training missions , and i complete my learning with videos on youtube...but here we are at the opposite , and personnaly , the learning is really more fun and intuitive with training missions...for example i learned a lot more on the mirage F1 with your trainings missions than tens hours of videos on youtube !

  8. I am sorry to say that this could not be further from the truth. Currently, most of our Viper work is focused on the Sniper Pod, radar and DTC. These tasks are manpower intensive and demand a lot of attention and work. You may see lulls in patch notes but that does not equate to lack of care, moving on or abandoning. The Viper is a flagship module for us, I do not see work on it stopping anytime soon. Thanks.

  10. Im looking forward to the Chinook updates as its got the potential to be a great logistics mover in DCS and im guessing what's its primary objective was when ED rolled it out, I love flying it and moving stuff around using CTLD on our missions Having said that I cant help but feel that the logistics side of the next release seem to be forgot about, I understand avionics need to be implemented, but as far as AI gunners, pilots models I would do with out those so more logistics options for it can be added in earlier rather than later, I didn't buy it as a gun ship I got it so I can cargo sling (correctly) using the engineer and see a more dynamic logistics in DCS.

  11. I can‘t explain it from a truly technical perspective… I used MSAA x4 for quite a while because when DLAA came out initially for DCS, it had some really bad smearing effect on moving objects. This is now less pronounced and DLAA provides a better quality image overall. Smoother edges and no shimmering on clouds for example. This is all highly subjective, I guess. Nothing wrong really with sticking to MSAA.

  14. Do I really have to ping a mod to clean out the last few pages? I made a public update / statement on things, it really didn't need to be discussed and analyzed. The situation is this: - I am working on the App when I have time, as always. - Public releases have to be timed, as I add things internally, way before they are ever in public DCS Builds, as the DCS Testers use the app as well. - I am aware of both the MT Launch issue and the threading issue, both are limited variable exceptions, and have been fixed internally. - I will release new/ general updates on things when I can, which is why I posted that update, without singling out any specific individuals on any community platform, but there really isn't a need to ping anyone *(whether it be me or any other devs for that matter) repeatedly w/ the same question, even if the situation was different, it would be harassing / annoying never the less. As I am a busy person, I don't always have time to respond to every forum PM, Profile Post, Discord Ping, Discord PM, Facebook Ping, Post, DM,. etc etc etc. - My update was to advise the public of the situation, to give an update and to ask politely not to ping repeatedly, not to open up my daily routine to analysis and opinions, and furthermore, discussing it back and forth, has the opposite effect of what I asked for, here specifically. So, that being said, I ask that everyone move on, There is no need to discuss it further, and there is no need for snarky, condescending, under the breath, one liner comments randomly in reply to someone else. That is All.

  15. Back in business! I had to reinstall Quantum GIS 2 which, for some reason, is often way faster to simplify polygons. Next step: rivers. I'll have to draw them by hand, unless I find a new way of doing it.

  17. Here’s 78 pages on why scaling is necessary in simulation to replicate the same visual cues pilots rely on in BFM. https://apps.dtic.mil/sti/citations/ADA414893 But we can’t have that or dots or anything that might benefit anyone with any actual BFM skill. All kills must be from an unseen adversary because “realism”.

  18. Well, not bad. Does anyone pay you for posts like this? I've been following your comments for some time and I feel like we're playing a completely different game. How many pilots do you think flew with binoculars during the Cold War? There are probably two people in this thread who are happy with the current realistic situation.

  20. Yes. QVFR included built-in CAS, so there was no need for OXRTK. I believe the Pimax implementation is the same (looking last night, they are simply using my code). Might need to confirm with them.

  21. Totally agree that it will be great for logistics (that's where I'd be at), but I'm betting more will use it for combat. But more likely they have people working on the logisitcs side BUT it's different people than the ones working on the ai gunners/pilot models (who obviously are done their thing) so not having done that would likely not have gotten better logistics any time sooner.

  22. Thank you all for the feedbacks ! I've been in the military lately in the Swiss air force officier school. We just finished the mountain course this week. Because of that I haven't had much time for DCS unfortunately... I will have a month off in december so I'll try to correct the liveries then. If I forget don't hesitate to remind me here. cheers !

  23. Great question! It's location of а shaker or shakers based choices. Possible ones at the moment (Sound Module version 2.41): 1 shaker case selected in the Sound Module settings: Undefined (Base) - somewhere, not defined, in the middle. The samples to use are taken from the Documents\SimShaker Sound Module samples\Base\1 subfolder. Left - assumes that shaker is on the left side. The samples to use are taken from the Documents\SimShaker Sound Module samples\Base\1\Left subfolder. Right - assumes that shaker is on the right side. The samples to use are taken from the Documents\SimShaker Sound Module samples\Base\1\Right subfolder. Blank - plays nothing by default. The samples to use are taken from the Documents\SimShaker Sound Module samples\Base\1\Blank subfolder and they are all just silence. This preset can be used as a base for a multi-shaker setup when you want to assign to this shaker only few effects. For example you want to place a little shaker on a stick and make it shaking when the stall effect is active only. In this case you can 1) Go to the Test the Module tab and type in the search field "stall", select the sample in the dropdown and hit the Customize the Sample button. 2)This will take you to the Samples Customization tab when you can adjust the desired vibration strength and hit the Make Customized Sample(s) button. That's it. 3)Hit the Reload Samples button which will take you back to Test the Module tab where you can check what you've got with the customized sample. Customized samples are stored in the Documents\SimShaker Sound Module samples\Customized\1 subfolder. 2 shakers case: Left & Right (Base) - assumes that one shaker is on the left side and one shaker is on the right side. The samples to use are taken from the Documents\SimShaker Sound Module samples\Base\2 subfolder. Blank - plays nothing by default. The samples to use are taken from the Documents\SimShaker Sound Module samples\Base\2\Blank subfolder. Please see the explanation above. Customized samples are stored in the Documents\SimShaker Sound Module samples\Customized\2 subfolder. 3 - 6 shakers case: 3Left & 3Right (Base) - assumes that up to 3 shakers are on the left side and up to 3 shakers are on the right side. The samples to use are taken from the Documents\SimShaker Sound Module samples\Base\6 subfolder. Blank - plays nothing by default. The samples to use are taken from the Documents\SimShaker Sound Module samples\Base\6\Blank subfolder. Please see the explanation above. Customized samples are stored in the Documents\SimShaker Sound Module samples\Customized\6 subfolder.

  31. I've had a look at the files, despite the version number not being updated and it appears there were changes last month, one of which is the "added rocket ccip cue distance indicator" which is new for the 0.7.0 update. The "Read Me" file has been updated last month, along with the "Flir fixes" so looks like 0.7.0 is there, just not on the latest version link. I've downloaded from: https://github.com/luizrenault/a-29b-community/archive/refs/heads/v2.9.0.47168ob.zip rather than the latest version link, all the files in there are from September 2024, whereas the latest version link is still October 2023. So either download direct from the link above or go to: https://github.com/luizrenault/a-29b-community and select "Code" in green and click "Download.zip" and not latest release.

  35. They can actually push it until it overheats, which it inevitably will, and report how much it takes to do that. Trying to claim that it will not / can not over heat is ridiculous. Saying that it hasn't overheated under light usage is a pointless response to questions about heat capacity and dissipation. It's like when people who've owned something for an hour and haven't taken it apart tell you how good the build quality is - they have no idea.

  36. There is common graph of motor efficiency (form is true for 99% of motors, actual numbers could be different) As in joystick we use motor always in mode closer to the left border of the graph, no matter how efficient motor is on nominal RPMs in stall mode 99% of current goes into heat.

  43. As razo+r said, you don't really need any mods to enjoy DCS. If you want more A-10C info, you should try asking in the A-10C section of the forum https://forum.dcs.world/forum/149-dcs-a-10c-ii-tank-killer/ as this section is for the A-7E.
