  1. Let me officially announce my next project: Red Flag 81-2 Campaign for the DCS F-4E Phantom. Period correct maps and charts, dynamic debrief, interactive checklists, hand signals and formation signals, and basically the same study level realism that you can see in my other campaigns.

  2. In the game, the Su-25 GSH-30 has an armor-piercing belt. It is not always convenient and is not suitable for half of the tasks of the Su-25. I suggest: either replace the current AP tape with a mixed one, or add a selection of tapes. High-explosive fragmentation shells, armor-piercing and without tracers.

  3. A small frustration, The landing gear on our current model is vertically down when the aircraft is in level flight when in actuality it should sit at a 8-degree angle so that it is parrel to the ground. Will have to re animate the whole gear leg retraction which is quite the process given that its done with IK constraints. For those unfamiliar, 3ds allows us to solve the gear leg animation with a set of parent bones which is all well and good until you get to the part where DCS doesnt support it. Essentially you have to go through every keyframe and align another set of bones to the animated ones which is just time-consuming. We then have to go through this process for both of the hydraulic rams for the gear aswell. Progress is going well, need to do some more riveting and panelling then its just flaps and turrets to finish null

  4. I respectfully disagree. There's no need, and I have issues about pandering to the illogical just because they're the squeaky wheel when it's not necessary, and honestly - I don't think this setting will apease them anyway - because I seriously doubt it's really about cheating, but something else. At present, the dots are 100% of the size that ED has set them to be. Allowing a player to turn them OFF, (or otherwise reduce them anywhere from 0% to 100%) has no bearing on cheating at all, because by changing the setting away from 100% to lower, you're actually creating a handicap for yourself more than anything else. Changing the size of dots would only be allowing cheating if they allowed them beyond 100% of what ED has set. That doesn't mean ED shouldn't still work at it so it's correct for all - but while they're 'working at it' - the option to reduce, or turn off should definitely bet there for all, SP or MP. So, I don't buy the complaints about cheaters because there's zero logic in it. It's not about cheating. Allowing an option to turn dots off wasn't a cheating problem until ED took it away, and now it would be considered a form of cheating for those who's dots do show up as big blobs? Give me a break. If people were worried about cheating, they'd be wanting the option for dots to be turned off because at present these big dots are giving the people who don't want them a bigger cheating advantage than others. I see the objections to allowing people control to turn off or reduce being more about jealousy covered up - that some people have VR or better systems than others and it's about getting a kick out of seeing problems remain for those people that otherwise don't affect the complainer so they can feel better about themselves than it is about cheating. And as such - I don't think ED needs to be working on unnecessary options that won't satisfy the complainers anyway. It'd be a waste all round.

  6. That's in my future plan. Not soon. I'm trying some improvements as the template in drawing new airlines' liveries.

  7. Yeah, you're pretty much spot on. The current limitations really makes it hard to create such an asset that even somewhat resembles its real life performance. It doesn't give me joy to spend so many hours on an asset knowing I can't make it perform like I want. And also the dealing with all the questions from the users about why its performance is lacking.

  9. If we're talking about realism, and variety - one of the things that gets me is that it's the same voice each time for each radio call. Whether female/male/etc, doesn't matter - just having different voices would be great - but while we're doing it - it would make sense to have a mix of options both male and female, so people have a choice of choosing which voice would play for their own radio calls. Currently I hear 3 other planes call inbound for a carrier landing - and each with the exact same voice, the exact same phrase. How good would it be if there were 4 or 5 different variations of the voices where pilots could select which iteration of the voice they want used when they're calling inbound in a setting - including male and female. Or even better, if voices could be done like plane liveries - so we can add them to the saved games directory and choose our own voices for our own calls. Then people who want this feature can share voice 'liveries' like we currently can do with the plane skins. For me - this would be far more immersive changing than changing a pilot model that we rarely would see anyway because we're in the seat when we're flying. I would also think it could be an easier change than doing a bunch of different models with animations for the cockpit. (I'm no animator so I don't know, but I would imagine there's more work than that, than having a setting that determines which version of a sound file is played when triggered?) I know one way to achieve this already is to have all players use VAICOM, and disable the voice in game, and just use your own voice, and have it transmit over SRS at the same time - so we can hear each other's own unique voices for the call. But this does require all players to use VAICOM. Still - maybe this could be a big help for your female friend @buceador if you haven't considered VAICOM and how it could completely change the immersion on that level?

  13. I'm not calling for a rebellion, but I think all this is due to the fan base's passivity. We must communicate with the respected gentlemen from the Company, do not give up trying to be heard. Maybe they won't make a fix, but at least they will increase the priority of releasing their launchers.

  19. Really, what is your game here , there are many references to other flight sims were the player's can seeing targets. So it's not their eye sight more like it's DCS .

  21. For 2D, nothing changed, so for a 2D user I'm okay with it (very flawed, but they are passable), so none of the options really work for me either. It would have made more sense to add more options or to specify that this was VR focused, since I think those are the responses you're really after.

  22. Here are the numbers. YES - I know they don't represent those not using Steam and are using Standalone. Yes, there are more playing Standalone, etc... but, the numbers available don't lie. After the "Improved" Spotting Dots patch, there is the lowest counter of players playing DCS on Steam than EVER BEFORE. There is a significant drop after the Sept 30th patch with these "Improved" spotting dots. I know, for a FACT, that my entire wing has stopped playing (4 people). People can say a hotfix is only for crashes, but their player base is crashing and they need to fix this ASAP.

  23. This seems like a great way to get some biased data. Are we talking 2D or VR? If 2D what res? If VR what headset and what settings? What specific aspects of spotting are we talking about? Max range of spotting? Dot size? Dot size in terms of immersion? Dots in terms of the shift from dots to no dots?

  24. It's enough to prove a point which is the update was generally bad for majority and it makes most players unhappy with the spotting, additionally leaving us without the options. This was the goal of this poll.

  25. Progress again. However, I've found working on this campaign to be so labor-intensive that we’ll have to see if ED manages to finish their official dynamic campaign earlier than I do . Hopefully not. So far, I’ve completed the script for enemy airbases, targets to destroy, and OCA flights to take them out. More detailed target descriptions are still a work in progress, as is the code for calculating how the destruction of airbases and other strategic enemy targets, like fuel and ammunition logistics, will impact enemy air operations.

  28. No, because I didn't have blobs before the last update. It was acceptable for me, kinda realistic apart from dot view distance still too good. And it's a regression and only that - "Adjusted appearance of spotting dots in VR to be close to their previous state." And that previous state is what they have dig out from some old implementation where the dots were blobs for some time. The tweaking is said to be WIP but the last update was just a step back. It will never be right for everyone - that's impossible. It can only look right (like a dot from miles away, not big blob), have realistic visibility limits (like only a few miles for a fighter head on, then faint out, not visible 20nmi) and follow the simple logic (the farther it gets, the smaller it gets and harder to see, not almost invisible at 1.5nm then sudenly huge blob for the rest 1.5-20nm of range). Adding some realistic glint effects and camouflage dependace would be cherry on a cake.

  30. @dangerzone definitely well put! I wonder if ED put together a script then the community could submit their voice acting skillz and sound files and we could have a bunch of voices and personalities that could be part of the game!

  31. What dope is going to fly without corrective lenses if needed? This is just more proof you don’t have a clue. In VR, the most common vision problem associated with age, presbyopia, disappears. On a flat screen, you can just sit farther away, wear glasses or adjust resolution. Or all three.

  32. Not true. I get a female voice whenever I'm inbound for carrier landings as well. Want another lady? Fly Navy. I also get a female voice with overlordBot, but I get that's not ED/DCS but 3rd party. I don't have a problem with introducing more variety into the simulator, but I'm also glad that ED doesn't feel the need to raise this item to the top of the pile because of politically correct pressures, etc, and is rather concentrating on more important items first, letting this will come when it comes. As for 'realism', there's plenty of areas where realism can be increased beyond an avatar, so I'd hate to get tunnel visioned with realism just focusing on sex.

  33. If you are so worried about cheaters, make it a Server/Mission setting that enforces them to be ON. Done. Otherwise, let the user choose to turn them OFF or ON as they like. For now, my entire squad has moved on from DCS, most playing IL-2 - which doesn't have this issue. The only reason I keep posting about this is due to the HUNDREDS of dollars I have invest in this game. I do not want BIG BLACK SQUARES covering the aircraft when I fly single player or with my squad against the AI. It's just insane this is even an issue. Has anyone from Eagle Dynamics actually played other flight sims to see how targets appear? It's unbelievable this is even a discussion. I just want to play single player - I don't care about multiplayer, exploits, cheaters or anything else. For those that do, demand a server setting. For the rest of us, get rid of spotting dots.

  34. Vietnam War Vessels 0.6.0 is now available! This release is the result of collaborative efforts from Hawkeye60, seabat, Beldin, Stratos, itsdotbmp, and Violent Nomad in development, with Whiplash and SideKick65 contributing new mission editor screenshots. Special thanks to our testers James J. Jackson, Zabbie, and Slapshot for their valuable input. The update introduces the AI A-1H Skyraider, a versatile aircraft known for its role in the Vietnam War, equipped with 15 pylons for diverse mission capabilities. Additionally, the F-8 Crusader has been refined for smoother catapult alignment, along with updates to taxi and take-off paths for the CVA-31 Bon Homme Richard. There are three zips on the download page https://github.com/tspindler-cms/tetet-vwv/releases TeTeT.VietnamWarVessels.0.6.0.zip - this zip contains everything, it's a one stop shop for the mod TeTeT.VietnamWarVessels.base.0.6.0.zip - only contains the basic livery, much smaller install size TeTeT.VietnamWarVessels.liveries.0.6.0.zip - contains the extra liveries and has a huge disk foot print

  38. Voice accents were not working for me since the encryption day of sounds folder. I used to do French AWACS and UK tanker but it is no longer working. Just as a reminder, ED published news in 2021 mention a re-work of ATC system as well as other calls: I am sure they consider different voices for male and female but I hope also for nationalities.

  40. If your post is about a wishlist for ED to recognise - my suggestion is don't get your hopes up. @twistking is steering you away from hoping for ED to do something for a very good reason. Check out this to get an idea of how some incredible content creators have been treated by ED when looking for interaction with scripting and API. If this is what ended up happening with the creator of overlordbot, beginners wanting basic help have much less hope. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/270863-expose-apis-for-f10-radio-transmissions-especially-new-marianas-atc/ This isn't to put ED down (as much as I am extremely disappointed in how RJ was treated) - but moreso just to give you a real indication of what to expect from ED so you can have more realistic expectations and work with what's more likely. What Grimes has done - in expanding the scripting options for all of us (and others as well who have contributed) - is no small feat. Without them, I probably wouldn't even be involved with DCS today. They are significantly underrated, and even if the documentation has a lot to be desired - they do it all out of love for DCS and the community and their own generosity. On the other hand, if you're just looking for help by anyone and that video may appear beyond your capabilities, I would encourage you to push yourself and give MOOSE a try via some other video's, etc. Or try starting with one of their demo's. It does seem overwhelming at start (I remember when I started watching the video again, and still not getting it until I actually sat down and repeated it for myself - and then it all started making sense). In addition to this, you will find the community is quite helpful if you do get stuck on some basic stuff. But just being realistic, you are almost infinitely more likely to get assistance from the community instead of ED. What exactly do you want to achieve to start off with?

  41. Oh and one more weird thing I noticed. E.g. in the last mission of BNBOB. The fight starts on the deck, but after 5-10 minues, the AI is turning in circles around each other at contrail altitudes. So instead of descending fights, running OUT of energy, they somehow get to higher and higher energy states. Weird. Never happened before July 2024, not for the 5 years this campaign has been out.

  42. I also find that when I do a big AI vs AI furball, they score way less kills against each other than before. In this track 4 AI were shot down and it took 10 minutes. The other problem is sometimes when 2 AI flights merge, one or more flight members just break away, do a lazy 360 before - maybe - reengaging. Mostly 190s. See track. And the WW2 AI's spotting/ detection range has severely deteriorated too. In the track, trained AIs only detect each other head on at 2.5 miles. ww2engage5.trk
