  1. Hi! We continue working on Normandy 2.0. The main goal of the current update is optimization. Adhering to the strategy "Never stop improving" along with optimization, we made local improvements to objects and something new. We added three airfields: Eastchurch, Headcorn and Hawkinge. And three original objects: Basilica of the Sacre Coeur, Palace of Versailles and Hampton Court Palace. Now there will be places where you can start your career in the training center or complete a mission as part of a squadron. Fly, explore and conquer List of changes in Normandy: - Optimization of building and structure models. - Optimization of scenes. - Improved scene of the bridge near the Palace of Westminster. - Improved model of Notre-Dame de Paris. - Added airfields Eastchurch, Headcorn and Hawkinge. - Added three original objects: Basilica Sacré Coeur, Palace of Versailles and Hampton Court Palace. - Added tall flags at forts and major cities. - Fixed errors in airfields with the same callsign. - Fixed errors in terrain, vectordata and scenes. Headcorn Hawkinge Palace of Versailles Hampton Court Palace

  3. Hi Fighters We continue to introduce you to the upcoming map update, work on which is in full swing. First of all, we want to thank you for your feedback: Thank you for this! We are glad that you liked the idea and the new functionality of the map. The Ugra-Media team is making every effort to make the map even more interesting and continues to take into account the opinions and requests of DCS users. Recently, we expanded the functionality of the map, you asked to add new locations and we did it. Now you have even more opportunities for new flights and missions. Let's take a look at one of the new features: Hatzor is an Israeli military base built in 1942 for the British Royal Air Force (hello Normandy 2.0). The Combined Operations Center for the US military and Israel is located here. It is interesting that the base has simulators for training F-15 and F-16 pilots and the 420th Squadron or "Fighter Aircraft Simulator Squadron" is stationed here - these guys understand us better than anyone. something new

  5. I feel like it may be time to wait, I have pre-purchased almost every ED module - After the drama and the game of brinkmanship that's been played with my money between ED and the other developer, I just don't feel comfortable investing more until I see more in the way of ensuring that my investment will be sound in the future. I love ED, ED's product and the capabilities we have with it - I am very, very excited to see where it goes.. but after more than 15 years of using this sim, I am worried given the last year. I know I'll get called a troll, I'd invite anyone who thinks so to read my other posts on this forum. I usually feel like it's best to keep my opinion to myself but the silence here has been deafening.

  6. Hello, Everyone. I'm sorry I've been absent, but I had another back procedure last week that took a toll on my back. It's called a Discogram. I honestly think it made my condition worse but they found more issues with the discs in my spine. I can possibly see back surgery in the near future. I'm still recovering from that procedure. As soon as I feel better I will release the Italian Mod pack. Thank you all for your patience. Admiral189

  10. After Kola and Afghanistan I'll need more assurance Im not buying a map full of airfields surrounded low res tundras and jelly mould hills I'm afraid. Sales patter such as "A new level of terrain detail and accuracy" only serve to make me think "snake oil" after the last £100 I dropped on DCS map pre-orders. I sorry I cannot be more positive about what should be exciting news. Im afraid the last 2 maps have left a sour taste.

  12. I have almost pre-ordered every module, be it Aircraft, Helicopters or Maps. This time though I will pass on and wait until it´s much more refined. Recently I got the Kola and Afghanistan map and the CH-47F, but I find all three of them too incomplete to also add an (most probably) incomplete Iraq map ontop of that. I know about Early Acces and what to expect, since as I told, I have done that with almost all addons and I own everything apart from the South Atlantic map, JF-17 and MBB-339. But for now I want to see how developement moves on for Kola, Afghanistan and CH-47F before investing more. The Razbam issue also comes on top of this, having all their Aircraft too. Also recent performance issues (flying almost entirely in VR) keeps me from putting more hard earned money into DCS. It´s not because I have lost faith in DCS, or want to be negative, but I just have reached a point where I want developement to catch up with my investment.

  16. Which is a whole different kettle of fish, but 1st draft of Afghanistan using whatever the new methods are IMO flopped badly enough that I'm holding off on Iraq until I see if they can make it actually look acceptable to me. And I'm not a helo driver complaining about down low. Kola managed to improve to a decent place, so I have hope, but I feel burned enough by Afghanistan that I'll hold off this time.

  17. See, this is the line I have issue with. I'm assuming ED have a pool of terrain content talent. I'm sure there is more than a little cross-over of skills between the Iraq, Afghan, Central Germany, etc. teams and the fact that there are (at least) two 'teams' is only due to ED wanting it that way. I think people are questioning the wisdom of having many teams working on parallel development, rather than one well-managed team focusing on one product at a time. We hear the same about the aircraft models too. I know an SME on one particular platform's systems might be no use on another, but the coding guys, texture artists, etc are surely all transferable, it's just a matter of allocating them to the right places. It's easy to criticise, I know, but It seems from the outside, ED have too many plates spinning, and some of them are starting to fall. I hope I'm wrong and when released Iraq is amazing and vindicates ED and the poorly received launch of Afghanistan, at which point I will be happy to buy it. But right now, it sounds like I am not alone in having reservations.

  22. This map has great potential to recreate the famous Air battles, deep strikes and naval strikes of the Iran-Iraq war. TFB.4 Dezful TFB.5 Omidihyeh TFB.6 Busher Would all be in the detailed areas of the map(s). Esfahan as an important base is only in the low res area, maybe a simplified version might be possible? But even just TFBs 4, 5 and 6 would add a whole new dimension for the map and provide a natural playground for the F-4, F-5 and F-14. Please consider adding these. Thanks.

  23. most of Iran airbases are in the that red zone. not just Dezful, Omidiye, Esfahan, Bushehr but also Tehran, Kermanshah, Hamedan, and a little bit to the north Tabriz. Iraq Iraq War in case of scale and duration is not comparable with those short wars like desert storm or Iraqi Freedom or fighting with ISIS that had Toyota. it lasted for 8 years (near 3000 days) and was a full scale classic war between Iran and Iraq Armies in the air, land and sea. everything happened in that war. i can not describe all of those things in a few sentences but i just tell you one thing, in case of air wars near 400 fighter jets of both countries shot down and near half this number damaged. this war was completely ignored in the Iraq map Description and FAQ topic which is very disappointing. i hoped that creators and the company had better knowledge about it. i wish ED expand the map to the east and add Iran and its airfields.

  24. Read again: I dont care if ED want to implement new spotting dot, but make it work first, and only then implement it. We already test it before and it was not good. Then, they added an option to turn it off. Now, they took that option away, while giving us the thing we already know it's bad. Thousands of people cannot fly missions right now, because air and ground targets are ugly black blobs seen from miles away. I hope I cleared that for you.

  25. FC 2024 FUN PACK - Flaming Cliffs Practice Sandbox [all FC aircraft] Download: ED User Files Forum Thread: HERE Your Flaming Cliffs 2024 planes have arrived and assembled outside, ready to fly. All planes are fueled and armed, the only thing they need is you in the cockpit. So suit up and strap on, pilot! Features Ogle at all your aircraft Once you are inside your cockpit, take a good look around. The airfield is populated with aircraft that you can jump in - you own them all (well, except the Hercs). So taxi by those planes carefully, and enjoy the view of the other planes that you own. Landing Practice Senaki Kolkhi's 09 is marked with blue smoke for landings. There is another blue smoke marker on the 5 mile final approach point. To practice landings, take off, turn around and then position yourself over the 5 mile final to set up for nice, easy landings. Additionally, when touching down inside the touch-down zone, your landings are automatically rated, giving you details on quality, speed, run length, etc. "Touch-down zone", you say? Switch to F-10 Map view, look for the green rectangle on Senaki's 09. Logbook ("persistent" -- if you want it to be) What good is a practice ground when you have nothing to show for later? The Fun Pack logs all your flights per type: total time, landings, departures, "super-marginal landings", start-ups. And it saves that data to your permanent storage ('persists') if you "de-sanitize" your DCS. This is entirely optional, and requires some work on your side that I'm too lazy to detail here. Perhaps Google it. Air-to-Ground Practice Taking off from Senaki's 09 and fly that heading until you see red smoke. In the field south of the smoke marker, a number of vehicles await your destruction. They will NOT fire back. At any time you can re-spawn all ground targets with the Communication-->Other-->Ground Targets menu. Note that target positions for all vehicles change each time that they spawn Air-To-Air Practice Should you want to practice your air-to-air combat prowess, you can call up as many enemy fighters from a selection of 12 fighters as you like. Be advised that these enemies will engage you, and most of them have missiles. To have an enemy appear north of Senaki Kolkhi, go to Communications-->Air-to-Air and choose the era and type. You can spawn as many enemies as you dare. I recommend that you re-arm your aircraft for CAP should you engage into air-to-air combat. Most aircraft are configured for ground attack by default. Multiplayer: FC Fun Pack uses "stopGap". If you experience planes crashing on startup, you should install 'stopGapGUI' on your server (only server) to work around a DCS synchronization bug. Multiplayer supports dynamic player spawns for both sides, any plane with any armament. Red players spawn from Kutaisi. Enjoy, -ch

  29. @Tippis first of alI, I didn´t read all of your posts precisely, but i get a picture. Why do you constantly oppose the opinions of other people? To me it looks that most of these guys, myself included, just don´t want to be bothered by big black legobricks in a simgame and mainly want a realistic spotting system and therefore kind of prefer how it was before. All i see is you trying to make these people look stupid in the face of your superior knowledge of what´s really going on behind the tech. I even find your responses to other people's posts quite assaultive at times. What i cannot see: What is your agenda? Why is everybody else either a cheater who wants to utterly exploit the game, or an uneducated fool to you who desperately needs your wisdom? What is your goal in constantly correcting other people? Why can´t you just accept other opinions or wishes? What do you want, or expect from a good spotting system?

  30. I ordered it, but to be honest this is the first time i was actually thinking to not preorder (almost have everything). Like many said already, you (ED) really need to start stepping up the game harder. Start finishing stuff, solve long waiting issues and make the sim at whole more stable. Next time i might be another customer that says no.

  31. No. Thank you. There are way to many "EA" projects for ED. Hornet, Viper, Super Carrier, Apache, Chinook, Afghanistan... I own all of them. But I don´t see that ED can handle all this in a proper way. And because of this, despite being a fanboy for years I will have to pass on this one and see what the future brings.

  32. I hope the textures resolution on the less detailed parts of the map are not going to be like in Afghanistan. Even on the "detailed" portion of Afghanistan, the zones around the most detailed ones are very low quality when flying low. Dont know if this is going to be improved but if Irak is going the same way is a no go for me. The transition between high and low resolution is so poor handled that flying helicopters is a pain, when those parts can be seen together.

  34. Hi All the maps in DCS have a common problem, developers focus on wrong things like cities, churches/mosques, civil airport, etc. DCS focus on military, then the maps should focus in air bases, military bases, chopper bases, civil assets with strategic importance (power plants, train stations, some ports, goverment buildings, etc), SAM and EWR Sites with their corresponding revetment (please dont put trees on sam sites). Please dont focus on mosques/churches, archeological sites or other assets with no military importance. Persian Golf have multiple custom buildig at Dubai, but there isn't a single SAM/EWR site depicted, ILS are still broken on multiple bases, multiple power plants, ports, refineries not modeled, etc. Syria and Sinai have the same problem but they are 3rd parties developers so Im not going to mention more details. Thanks, I really enjoy this simulator, but please take this in consideration.

VAZ2109 is so old. - 1 Insurgent Infantry - only one - 2 US very very old Infantry - No desert camo. - 3 new RU Infantry - No desert camo. - 1 GE new Infantry - No desert camo. - 4 very old crouch/stand Infantry. - No desert camo. These new two maps need new Infantry. Especially where there were conflict with ISIS and Taliban,.... Add aditional buildings from map in Mission Editor. Thank You.

  36. Overall, I believe ED have done a much better job than expected in including critical Gulf War-era Coalition air bases. Most of the relevant bases omitted from the map are understandable, either being over on the West coast of the Saudi Peninsula and thus too far outside scope (King Faisal, King Fahad, and King Khalid ABs), or being present on the PG map already (Al Minhad and Al Dhafra). However, there is one glaring omission that I hope is under consideration for adding in the distant future: Prince Sultan Air Base near Al Kharj. This base was home to a huge number of coalition squadrons during Desert Storm, and a critical hub for major coalition operations. Below I've listed some of the hosted squadrons: While I understand that the facilities of Prince Sultan Air Base are very different today from what they were during the Gulf War era, the base itself has been a critical part of US-led operations from 1996 through today, so I don't believe that should be reason alone to exclude it. I sincerely hope this critical piece of Desert Storm operations is under consideration for addition to the Iraq - South map in the distant future.

  39. Hi, My wish and hope is that the Iraq map will be made on the old way like Marinnas, Nevada, Sinai and Syria. Hope the terrain textures will not be like SA, Kola and Afghanistan. I understand and respect when other people like the more MSFS, FS2004, BMS global scenery, i just don’t. The problem i am having with this new technology is that there is no depth low level. Been to Iraq and Afghanistan myself during deployments and i can tell you there is hardly flat terrain even if it’s just a difference between 1/2 meter. Yes, from high up it all looks great, but low level this scenery becomes flat and there is no depth anymore. Amazing 10 seconds later

  41. It's been been documented. A year ago: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/335325-spotting-dot-bugs-in-vr/?do=findComment&comment=5308848 ED decided to ignore all the feedback and roll the same version again. Isn't that the definition of insanity, repeating the same thing expecting different outcomes?

  46. Glass half full approach would be: "Everything is available and will only improve even further" I wonder how much complaining there would be about lack of content, if ED waited with all new goodies and focussed all their recourses on one module (which would basically compare to having like 50 people trying to cook simultaneously on one small kitchen stove)

  47. I just previously couldn’t get excited about warbirds without any feedback through the stick. Stick quite floppy on the ground. As you start to roll with stick pulled back, it begins to centre itself. With -1 trim on take off, have to apply a bit of back pressure to make her climb. Trimming moves the stick. Controls get very heavy with speed, and very sloppy with none, and similar with landing but you still have enough feel to control it. I lost an aileron and an elevator today, and had a real fight the stick as I recovered home over the channel. Was great fun! Still early days for Moza but it’s only going to get better. As far as difference with jets, it depends. F4 and F14 (and F5, although some problems with that) have similarities due to non-FBW flight controls. F16 and F18 very different. Not flown anything else yet!

  48. I always felt like 1991 Desert Storm / 1980s Iraq-Iran war should be the first "desert" map in DCS. Nothing against "War on Terror" but such assymetrical warfare is neither particularly exciting nor possible to even simulate in DCS. When all out wars with both sides having tanks, artillery, aircrafts, helicopters, warships, SAMs etc. like 1980s Iraq-Iran war or 1991 Gulf War are perfectly suited for DCS. Thanks!

Что делать со всеми этими модулями в пустом симуляторе? *модуль/карту доделаем лет через 6**. ** может быть.
