  3. My name is Enrique, I’m a 3D artist with experience in visualization and game development, and I’d like to introduce a personal project I’ve been working on: the Fokker Dr.I Triplane, a highly detailed and historically faithful recreation of this legendary aircraft for DCS World, currently in development as a future free mod. The goal of this project is to pay tribute to aviation history by bringing to life one of the most iconic fighters of World War I, famously flown by the Red Baron. I’m focusing on historical accuracy and professional-quality modeling and texturing to ensure an immersive experience. The mod is still in progress, but I plan to share regular updates. I’d really appreciate any feedback from the community, especially from those with experience in historical mods or an interest in WWI aviation. The gauge textures are temporary, the entire cockpit will be fully interactive." Thanks for the warm welcome to the forum—I'm open to suggestions and collaboration. For more pictures of this project: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/JvXOYa Best regards. Enrique

  4. Hi guys, I've been working on the cockpit today. Tomorrow I'll start moving the gauges and compass, removing that modern seat and installing an older wooden one. I'll get everything ready to have the model ready for retopology and then output the low-poly model. I've separated the aircraft files into two, as indicated in the manual. One is the cockpit, and the other is the rest of the aircraft. Right now, I'm completely alone on this project, so please be patient as I have to juggle it with my other job (I'm starting a video game studio). Greetings, everyone.

  5. Hey everyone I've been working on a full-fidelity Piper Cub mod, specifically the WWII L-4A variant, for quite some time. Now that it's getting close to completion, I figured it was time to share it with you all. I started this project because I wanted to learn about aircraft physics and flight modeling, so I chose the simplest aircraft that came to mind, thinking I would just write the EFM and use a free 3D model as a stand-in. Eventually, I got tired of looking at ugly models and decided I wanted to take a stab at 3D art, so I ended up creating a 3D model, textures, and animations to go along with the EFM. Currently, the Cub mod features a fully custom EFM that uses a blade-element theory approach to model aerodynamics. This method divides the aircraft's wings, tail, fuselage, propellers, and other surfaces into multiple components and calculates the lift and drag forces acting on each aerodynamic component. These forces are then summed up to produce the total force acting on the aircraft every frame. This approach is really cool because of its simplicity and how it naturally captures complex flight dynamics that occur at high angles of attack, such as spins or snap rolls, without relying on large datasets stored in lookup tables. The EFM also includes a realistic simulation of the Continental A-65 engine and propeller, including effects like p-factor, gyroscopic precession, and propwash. While my primary focus has been on the flight model, I've also taken some time to make sure the model looks decent and is realistic to the L-4A. I chose this particular variant so it can be used in various WWII scenarios, whether early or late in the war, and it will have skins appropriate for the ETO, PTO, and MTO. Additionally, I've included some M1A1 Bazookas, so it has at least a bit of firepower, and we can recreate the exploits of Bazooka Charlie. Some parts of the 3D model are still WIP, but here are some pics of the current state of the Cub.

  7. Hi With the help from @Thadeyus and @drPhibes, I propose you an updated beacons.lua for West Germany. Radionav freq corrected by @Thadeyus. Airports with 2 runways where only one ILS was working, have now both working, thanks @drPhibes. Hamburg is a little bit tricky as the runways aren't parallel. And the ATC only announce landing on runway 5-23, but depending on wind direction runway 15-33 ILS works fine. ILS frequencies and directions (most the time the Glideslope) have been corrected. I will make a frequency ref ASAP. If someone would indicate me if East Germany ILS are broken, or incorrect, let me know so I can update it. I suppose it wouldn't pass the IC. If you notice some inaccuracies in the modified ILS (wrong frequencies or else) just tell me. I used different sources, but maybe some are too recent. Paste the file into your DCS World\Mods\terrains\GermanyColdWar folder. Don't forget to backup your original file! Use at your own risks Enjoy! Update 05/13/2025: East Germany treated, and corrections on Western airfields New update 05/17/2025: Buckeburg, correction of ILS 26 glideslope and deleted runway 08 Localiser. 05/29/2025 New update. Known issues, Frankfurt ILS runway 07L-25R doesn't work correctly. Runway 07R-25L works fine. 07R 111.10 25L 110.70, waiting for feedback of @Ramsay, as it seem to have a solution. Buckeburg ATC only tells you to land on runway 26, same for Bindersleben (runway 10), Dev report will be made ASAP, as it hasn't anything to do with the lua file. Hamburg Finkenwerder: Glideslopes paired to the localisers and on the correct runway. Hamburg, Hannover, Tegel, Schonefeld. All runways ILS usable. Just write down the ILS frequencies of the alternate runways in the Mission Editor. I will make a kneeboard and printable doc of all frequencies ASAP. Hamburg runways aren't parallel, (05-23, 15-33), so depending on the wind direction, you have the choice to land on the best runway. DCS ATC will only tells you to land on runway 05-23, as it's unable to manage 2 runways at one airport. Inverted Ils position and direction on Leipzig Halle, as it should be, runway 29 ILS instead of 11. Modified Pferdsfeld 109.20 (unusable) to 109.30 ILS runway 09. I didn't found informations about ILS on this runway, but let it so, to have one more airfield for ILS landing. If you noticed any bug, feel free to tell me, so I can correct it. RSBN/PRGM aren't treated, as I didn't fly "red" aircrafts since now. I just loaded the L-39C to make test flights, but I have to learn about the rusisan ILS systems. So any feedback about East Germany RSBN/PRGM system inaccuracy is welcome too. New Update 06/07/2025 Damgarten RSBN/PRGM set to 832MHz (channel 32) as it should be. Noticed a localizer deviation while landing runway 07, with the L39. To confirmed by professionnal L39 pilots as I'm newbie and have only 14 days trial. beacons.lua

  10. DCS badly needs some more unarmed AI human figures particularly for the WW 2 mission builders. We need such figures mainly to populate airfields. There is also a need for them to have different postures. Some examples that spring to mind are: Standing, leaning, sitting and squatting; Airmen, Ground crews, Officers ( non animated if semi- animation too hard) Standing Ground crew using hands to beckon aircraft into parking, ( say for 10 secs) then raising arms to signal stop (say for 5 seconds) - These should be semi-animated, like some carrier deck figures. With those 2 animated actions in the one file, we could use triggers to activate them as aircraft approaches parking ramp as follows: Plane triggers ground crew beckoning when pilot 15 metres from park spot. After 10 secs. his arms are raised for 5 secs. Pilot brakes and stops. I can think of many more examples, but the above would hugely improve realism in M/E. Regards, Regards, Mich. .

  13. With the Cold War map released I figured it was time to give some much needed attention to this ancient AI model skin. Very much work in progress/test phase, but the goal is to release a high res (8K) template with weathering, panels and rivets etc. Starting with an East German skin, the 3D model has a few shortcomings (one sided tailplane amongst others), but I hope this can be a nice addition to the Cold War map:

  14. I was thinking it could be a good adition to have assets covering this aspect, for some scenarios with asymmetric wars. We have a few but i was thinking this could be the perfect oportunity to have some new ones, and/or have some of the older ones receive a facelift. Could be to name a few: - Motorbikes with armed insurgents - IEDs related: infantry hiding/planting one, Barrels and stuff use to made those, etc. - Improvised technicals (that encompasses many options, i know) - Infantry: AKs, RPGs, Recoilless rifle, etc - Encampments Assets - Cave entrances - etc Maybe even adding to the mix some civilian assets, that are in some cases similar to this ones. That way it could be hard to discern those from the armed ones, creating more variety and option to create scenarios of COIN in DCS.

  16. Neither side has a prone 'static' medium machine gunner to place for covering / defensive fire. At the moment you have to place something like an APC or a technical, but they're 2m tall and easy to find/have a big hit-box. Something small and close to the ground with a small hitbox - & maybe a sandbag for protection - would be very useful Like:

  20. To expand, any ACQ source with a question mark (?) can't be activated from the ACQ menu. the question mark indicates that the system does not know which of multiple sources of that type to select. For an example of this, look also at the behaviour of the TSD-point ACQ type. If you have not bugged a TSD point yet, then the ACQ menu will show a 'STR?'. Once you select a point from the points menu in the TSD, however, that 'STR?' symbol will be replaced with the name of the point you selected, and you can then quickly switch back to it from the ACQ menu if you switch away to another source.

  21. Gents, Hate to say it, but ITJ will be on hold for a bit until. Life has intervened. We plan to continue supporting and building it for sure into the future but had to step away to take care of personal matters. I to have been very busy with work. Current real-world events have kept me busy at work and continue to do so. I just want those to know who enjoy flying ITJ, it is not abandoned and the time we must step away will only have us that much more fired up when we return. Hopefully we will see ViolentNomads Cobra along with the Official F-104 and F-100 this year. More to come.

  29. The Block 3F was the first F35 with full operational capability. Everything before it was a glorified test aircraft. Block 2B/3I jets could only carry two AMRAAMs internally with no sidewinders and very limited A2G payload.

  33. Thinking ED is somehow Razbam's boss is probably the root of ~50% of the nonsense on this thread. Both companies were co-operating into ED's IP which is DCS. RB is not an ED's studio, so they can't be ED's employees in any shape. If one exploits the other's IP, bad things like this happens.

  34. When the MED altitude is selected, the missile seeker is turned on, and the target is locked, the missile may fail to hit the target. If you use LOW height, you can hit the target. If you choose HIGH, you can't hit the target. Moreover, at the cruising altitudes of MED and HIGH, the AGM84E did not dive in time when approaching the target. Instead, it did not start to descend vertically until it was close to the target. 84E MED 01.trk84E MED 02.trk

  36. Aileron trims are to regulate (sorry, Yandex Translate)"Transverse balancing of the aircraft" (The X-axis). On the Yak-52, according to "Practical aerodynamic of Yak-52 and Yak-55" book (sorry, Yandex Translate again) "The reaction of the propeller rotation can be balanced by deflecting the ailerons (Fig. 139), lowering the right aileron and raising the left one (the control stick is deflected to the left). This is how balance is achieved. On the Yak-52 and Yak-55 aircraft, this moment is compensated by the deviation of the fixed trimmers mounted on the ailerons. These trimmers are small duralumin plates that are attached to the rim of the ailerons. By bending the trimmers to the side opposite to rotation, the aileron deflection is achieved at the design level. mode and load relief on the control stick. As a rule, the calculated mode corresponds to a flight speed of 250 km/h. These trimmers are called compensating, removing the hinge moment." Ruder trim is for (Yandex translate) "Aircraft track balancing" (The Y-axis) I can only assume that this trim is set also for 250 km/h, they do not say this in the book directly

  37. You do realize that you are quoting one of the most common lament of long-time DCS fans, right? That, because of DCS' one-off business model, there is too little incentive to invest into DCS core, that there are people who would welcome a subscription model just to head off the exact line of thought you just wrote. Yes. There is very little business incentive in updating DCS core. If there was, it would not take a decade to upgrade ATC, bring a 'dynamic campaign' or a working save & continue system to DCS. If there was money in it, we'd have it today. No, you can't "always charge 10$ more for current FC+++ update." - it seems obvious to me that you haven't run the numbers, and like so many people in this thread, you simply assert something without bothering to check the facts. Run an edge-of-envelope calculation: how many of these FC+++ updates will you sell? Let's say 20'000. After tax and cuts from Steam etc that leaves you with, say 140'000 EUR (i.e. you make a phenomenal 70% on the dollar). That kind of money won't get you anywhere, it's barely enough to hire one decidedly average talent for a year in Switzerland, maybe 2 in some less expensive regions of the world. That is nothing, and the proceeds didn't even cover marketing - do you have any indication how much a simple, no frills global ad campaign for FC+++ would cost? Do you really think that the ED/RZ dustup is over some small change like that? Try and find out how much effort it is to create a module for DCS, multiply by 2 to include testing and marketing, then see how many units you need to sell before you turn a profit (hint: if you sell for 60 USD to a customer, you do not receive 60 USD). This is business. Now look at the RZ dispute and realize that there are serious funds involved, otherwise neither side would bother. This is business. And yes, if you do not maximize profits, you are doing it wrong. DCS is business, not a charity.

  40. If ED can win this one in court then win there by all means. If they can't just deal with the loss and move on. Serve the customer and get wins there. These high horse ego stalemates only hurt customers. Probably ED mostly too as customers get mad. RB can clearly take it as they are not bending. This fight has nothing to do with current DCS modules as the Spud leak suggested so we could already be having all the modules back and settling the other stuff in court behind the scenes nobody talking about it. If this is hard to settle because of big egos and need of saving everyones faces then just bring this up as a new idea where everyone are heros willing to find a working solution even while some not that important legal stuff is still going on behind the scenes. Just get the results done and show public you all are committed to serve customer first, even if you're actually hardcore business men with big egos. Customers only need modules back working and happy looking public co-operation. Everything else we don't really care. Happy co-operation is probably a sign things are run well. Customers invest 30-80$ with every module they buy in the DCS-versum and last thing they want to see is all or part of that seem to collapse in a petty in-fighting even if someone is actually a moral winner in story.

  43. I hope someone finds this useful. You can find the model on Thingiverse by clicking here or via the attached zip file. The cover screws on to the FSSB R3 and should provide protection from dust, bumps and (to a lesser extent) spills. I assume it will also work with the new FSSB R3 MK II ULTRA as well, but I have no way to test that statement so YMMV. I admit it isn't fancy but is relatively easy to print and gets the job done. Took me about 30-40 minutes to design it on TinkerCAD, but feel free to modify the model for your needs. Add a logo on top, or a cup holder, or whatever...feel free to go wild with it!. The ring STL can be printed as well to slide on to the cover, and is useful for covering any potential gaps at the bottom of the cover as well as make it look more interesting. The ring should slide on to the cover and be fairly snug, so there is no need to use glue to keep it in place. NOTE: I recommend printing the cover itself with the top of the model down on the print bed. This will allow you to print it without the need for supports. I used eSun PLA+ filament for mine. My copy was printed in Cura using Standard Quality - 0.2mm with 20% infill. FSSB Cover.zip
