  1. Hi all, I have spoken to the weapons team and yes there have been some changes to the M117 and Mk 8x series warheads. We will be adjusting the AN-M series warheads soon also. Once we have the new fragmentation model we may see more adjustments, but I do not have any time line for that at the moment. Thank you

  2. On my case, I prefer to spend a bit of time documenting the assets available so I don't have to rely on endless categories, like this: Catalog of Massun92 Assets Pack within DCS.pdf I refer to this document when I build a mission, else I end up doing a lot of trial & error when placing assets.

  4. Full list of weapons affected. IMO this is a very positive change and I'm shocked ED didn't announce this in the patch notes or newsletter. This is something the community has been asking for, for many years, and would have been appreciated by a great many players. 6. Confused me as well, as there is a livery folder called Essex_Class_Carrier_1944, with the module? But if you open the ships LUA file the correct livery folder will be: GT.Name = "Essex" I've attached the folder (no textures) but with a full extract of Description LUA, incl. some custom arguments (at the bottom) - if you want to open some of the side hangers etc. Just remove the "--" in front of the specific arguments at the bottom. 8. Problem with the bombs in DCS is that they have only splash damage and no fragmentation damage. If they have now updated the damage radius to the real world ones, than this are good news.

  9. I've restructured the entire roadmap; no information has been lost. It now reads as follows: - The first post covers the first decade of (2011-2020) DCS World. - The second covers the entire period from 2021 to 2024 (and cover the second decade of DCS World. - The third is the current year on course(actualy 2025). - The fourth maintain the list the upcoming DCS World modules - The fifth, which was previously a backup post, is now a links post with some DCS Info. The third post is only temporary; each time we change years, it will be moved to the previous post, leaving the current year in place, until the decade is over. If anyone sees any issues with the Roadmap, please send me a PM so I can correct them, including official information from the ED team or third parties about functionality, modules, etc., if anyone notices it, including social media.

  10. Hello Ladies and Gentlemen! I'm rushing with hot news for fans of the OH-58D "Kiowa Warrior" and DCS. A substantial, fully professional single player campaign (quality of paid versions or even better) will soon be coming to the DCS simulator. The campaign is intended for the Polychop Simulations OH-58D module, but you also need to have a map of Afaghanistan (the south-western part or the entire map). It is also worth adding that the campaign was created in cooperation with Ryan Robicheaux, the pilot of the Kiowa Warrior and the author of the book "Scouts out!". The campaign period is 2010. The campaign has been ready for some time, and is currently being finalized. What's most important for you, despite the large amount of my work and investment, the campaign will be available for free for fans of DCS (similarly to my previous one for the Mi-24P). You will find a full description of the campaign's manual (it will be important). The campaign will be available for download via the DCS website in User files section soon. For now, this is just a preview. The most important features of the campaign: Over dozen single player missions (14, lasting from 40 minutes to 1,5 hours gameplay of each) taking place in Afghanistan (DCS: Southwest Afghanistan map or the whole DCS: Afghanistan map is needed) Realistic, detailed scenarios, based on real events of the Operation Moshtarak (2010) and its prelude (although of course the campaign was adapted to the DCS environment and its possibilities, thus achieving a compromise between history and playability) Story driven campaign with a detailed mission introduction, voice commands and plot twists during the mission Proceeding the campaigns as the pilot of OH-58D and co-pilot/gunner/AMC Full, advanced voice package in English, even your co-pilot received his role! Several thousand lines of subtitles in English (only English is supported language) Various types of missions (also artillery guidance), including night ones Dedicated skin for Kiowa Warrior from period of Afghan war As real as it gets - cold starts only, you also need to return to the airport/FOB/FARP after the mission and special mission completion mode Auto ATC (automatic communication during takeoff and landing is used after selecting the appropriate radio) Prepared briefings (description of the situation and tasks), full documentation, graphics and photos Important data in the pilot's kneeboard Summary (including tips and tricks) in the manual, check it before the flight ;)! FPS friendly (tested in VR too), only the most necessary units plus the surroundings Custom background’s music created for this campaign (after successful completion of the campaign online access to the soundtrack) I'm aiming to release it in June this year, so now you have a great time to refresh your memory of the OH-58D ! The topic related to the discussion of the campaign will be located at the OH-58D module, LINK HERE.

  11. ED has done a beautiful job of trying to simulate the interaction of the aircraft with its immediate surroundings. We now see a nice cloud of dust coming up from the rotor wash of a helicopter, we see the grass and various foliage behind a plane reacting to the thrust generated by its engine and we see vehicles with dust trails behind them whenever they are traveling off road - even when driving through the snow! (I don't know, maybe they fixed that by now ) What I am now wishing for is a dust cloud resulting from a plane landing on a dirt runway. In video after video, we see P-47s, P-51s, Corsairs, FWs and 109s landing on a dusty, dirt runway and the wake turbulence is illuminated by the loose dirt on the ground. It would be a wonderful addition to the DCS Core experience!

  16. Ya’ll are in for a gas on release Why does my HUD not highlight the target, or show target speed and alt? why does my heading tape go away when locked? Why can’t I see target aspect with IRST lock and why does it take 8 seconds to get range?? With no IRST on/off button, how do I switch from radar to IRST and vice versa like in FC3??? Why does my RWR never show a target at 90 degrees? Why does my radar turn on no matter my mode switch sometimes? Why is only the right side of the HUD on the CRT screen? Why does it go through flares twice as fast up high? Why does my radar gimbal indicator not point towards target unless I’m level?? Okay I see there is interaction switch, why can’t I detect targets at long range with this switch forward? Why is my gunsight not smooth?

  17. It’s a different thing, cockpit frame might shake, things in the cockpit might shake, like aiming sight, but never needles in the altimeter or VSI, as others mentioned maybe RPM but not the rest. To make cockpit more alive shake the cockpit not the needles, it’s unrealistic and indeed annoying.

  19. UPDATE v2.63 Minor update in which more SFM tweaks are introduced, making flying experience better. I tried to adjust the plane's behavior at altitude, as it used to lose it pretty rapidly even at high speeds. Due to personal life stuff I can't put out a bigger update as of now, but also I didn't want to hold this smaller update off for eternity so here it is. Feel free to try it out and again, feedback is important in making this mod better in the future, so I'm looking forward to hearing it.

  21. Here is the 1st versin of RSBN navigation for Mig-21. I included all the airports ED has in mind to include in all three phases of EA, also the northern part. Here is the map with all airports and airbases for all three phases, numbered by RSBN channels: And here is the Kneeboard which you will also see in the cockpit: -- How to install it: Simply unzip the content of the file into main folder DCS World OpenBeta. There is one file you guys have to edit, because I don't know how many maps do you guys have, so you have to do it by your self: Inside the folder: ...\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\MIG-21bis\Cockpit\Systems edit the R_NAV_data.lua by adding this line of text: "Afghanistan" some where inside the brackets, I added it at the bottom. Just don't forget to add the comma after the penultimate map name and no comma after the last map name! This is my example: Maps_Table = { "Caucasus", "Nevada", "Normandy", "PersianGulf", "TheChannel", "SinaiMap", "Syria", "Kola", "Afghanistan" } ATTENTION: with editing this file, you will break the Integrity Check (IC) in the multiplayer, offline will work normally. If you want to use multiplayer, you will have to remove the map's name from the R_NAV_data.lua file. I hope the devs include these 2 things in the near future to be part of the DCS game so we can use RSBN navigation online as well. -- NOTE for all: if you find any issue please let me know here, so I can fix it. RSBN Afghanistan.zip

  22. currently elevator & aileron trim with FFB enabled works the same as without FFB enabled, when FFB is enabled the trim should move zero-force center, without applying any shift to axis center, so that if a player holds stick in one position, the trim should alter only the forces on stick without any effect on control surfaces. (control surfaces don't move, only trim tabs - all other ED WWII planes behave exactly like this with FFB enabled)

  29. Pretty sad, really. Their most recent product that brings anything to the flight sim market are the TPR pedals, and those are 7 years old. Other than that, the only edge they have is that in certain countries, importing stuff yourself is taxed way more than when shops do it, so things that are sold in local shops like the T.16000M and/or Warthog set then have way less of a markup than products that are not available in their local shops. Anyway, the AB9 seems to weigh 7 kg and the AB6 only 3 kg, so less than half the weight. Interestingly, the weight of the AB9 is not actually visible on the Moza product page. I had to view the source code of the page to find the information hidden there. Why, Moza, why?

  30. Nice, maybe we no longer need the large explosion on top for the ones they changed if people are happy with the results. I might add a "SkipLargeExplosion" field in the explosives table for certain weapons then so the additional large explosion will not add potentially unwanted extra damage. Hopefully this is a sign they're deep into fragmentation/bomb damage review. The ingame radio is pretty much for testing purposes, are you looking to adjust settings ingame? https://github.com/stephenpostlethwaite/DCSSplashDamageScript/blob/master/Splash_Damage_3.3_gamemessages_radio.lua Or you can download 3.4 / the latest unreleased build at https://github.com/stephenpostlethwaite/DCSSplashDamageScript/blob/master/Splash_Damage_main.lua and then modify the configs at the top of the file to set ["enable_radio_menu"] = false, --enables the in-game radio menu for modifying settings to be true

  34. I'm firmly of the opinion that when Japanese aircraft get modeled, they should be modeled based on their ACTUAL performance, not their "on-paper" specs. No Homare engine ever produced its rated power for the Ki-84 on that 87/91 gas the Japanese had.

  39. They can take their time. I rather something more polished and closer to complete then early access. I mean imagine it releases and ARU switch doesn’t work, Nav drift isn’t implemented, radar has no false targets or inaccuracies, no missile tones and voice for LA, no KMOD, autopilot as bugged as FC3, flare switch doesn’t change release program and can’t set our flare release pattern in ME, SPO-15 missing features such as PD fighters in X category until 15-20 km range where they switch to F, or how the 50/90 degree light only works at close range. What if TWS mode doesn’t automatically select most dangerous target, which would suck since HUD won’t show target speed. Or interaction between radar and IRST is simplified forcing you to relearn it when they properly implement it.

  41. Su-22m4 cockpit got proper normalmaps and roughmets now. Also, I announce that Su-22 will have some basic clickable functionality - simplified cold start, wing sweep controll, lights, gears, weapon panel etc Clickable cold start will fix problems with cold start that the mod currently have - Su-27 FM sees the plane as having 2 engines and nose wheel steering while Su25A avionics dont see it (and obvously we have one engine) It makes you unable to turn when started cold. Making a clickable action through lua should force comands like NWS on and "both" engines start into FM. We'll see how that works, stay tuned for more updates

  42. First time posting in this long thread, so first want to acknowledge the great work of Tobi and EightBall. The OH-6A is a total blast to fly and the Vietnam Asset Pack is one of the best of its kind, especially (as someone mentioned above) the Radio Hooch and its sound effects. The asset pack works beautifully in my Vietnam mission map my friends and I have been flying exclusively for the past 8 months with the F-4E, couldn't have done it properly without it! So, I wanted to mention if anyone had interest (and if the authors are ok with it), we made a little silly modification to the VC Bicycle ground unit that puts a smile on our face. On our startup parking ramps, we have the VC Bicycle riding laps continuously in front of our revetments (we've even given him an affectionate name I'll leave out here!) but we were always thrown off by his sounding like a truck driving by... it just didn't go well with all the detail EightBall put into the animation of the pedaling and such. So, we did a little modification to remove the truck engine sound and added sounds of squeaking chains/pedaling, some grunting here and there, and a few other sounds. I realize how ridiculous it is but I think it adds to the amazing asset pack! All that's needed is just a new sound file I can provide, a new SDEF file, and a re-worked database file. I'll wait and see if the authors respond to this with their blessings and then if anyone wants it, I can share the files here.
