  2. Are there any mods or other assets for Eastern airliners? Populating the skies of the GDR is tough with the basic assets in DCS. A Tu-154, Tu-134, and IL-62 are sorely needed.

  3. Something's off with the Sim Gaming footage. Either they're just short fragments like the one in the video above, recorded rather by accident, or they're just some similar-looking photos. Hello team?! Didn't any DCS fans go there and film a 5-minute flight video of at least a mission?

  6. Got a chance to fly the C-130J. It did, with all due respect, feel better than the C-130 mod. But then again, I was not using my own rig or HOTAS so pretty much everything I fly will feel different. It was nice though. I met up with Xpendable there and he was saying that he inadvertantly had the C-130J throttle thrown to reverse, and it started taxiing backwards. By the time he had gotten control of it again, it had been backward taxiing at 80 kts! Wow. It was also great to meet Baltic Dragon, what a great guy. Here is me, Baltic Dragon, and Xpendable. v6, boNes

  8. I'd like to request the ability to adjust the NVG 'window' up and down. In options we can 'Night Vision Goggles Gain-Increase' and 'Night Vision Goggles Gain-Decrease' (which one cannot do with the ANVIS-6 and ANVIS-9 systems I've worked with), but we cannot move the tubes up so they don't impede viewing of the panel and/or glancing outside 'unaided' (which is a mechanical adjustment that is key to proper NVG use). One of the very first things I learned about flying with NVGs is to adjust the shelf height to allow clear viewing of the panel and good field of vision under the tubes 'unaided'. There was/is a mod that allows NVG adjustments that's almost a half-decade old (by Tacca). Two problems with it are a). It's a mod that shouldn't be necessary and breaks on updates, and b). it also allowed a full-screen NVG effect (which is a bit of a cheat). I understand helicopter night flying isn't the bread and butter of your sim. All I'd ask is controls to move the NVG 'window' (which looks quite good, I might add) up or down in the field of view. Thank you for your consideration.

  10. so close; now add a track and *then* you have a well-documented bug... However, before you do, try uninstalling the A-4EC mod (preferably all mods) and seeing if the speed differential is replicated... like all mods can and DO have very odd impacts; i have seen the A4E-C mod impact other aircraft AI in campaign missions for example ... so start with a clean install of DCS (do a slow repair/ or uninstall your mods via a mod manager) ... and show the bug on a *track file*... then and only then do you have a *well-documented* bug with the Forestal... Stop talking about the A-4E-C because nobody is listening, to a bug that impacts an unofficial mod (how is this so difficult to understand) show it with a native in game S3B and you have a different proposition, albeit unless the S3 goes for a swim then it is less likely to hit the top of a priority list.

  12. I don't want to go into every exact detail but I have been fortunate to gain real world flight time in four warbirds since 2013. Twice, under unusual insurance conditions, I have flown real F4U-Ds (once in 2022 for 1.3 hours and once in 2024 for 1.5 hours {Obviously, I am not the owner of said Corsair.}). I can easily and definitively say that the F4U-D as it presents in DCS as of Sept of 2025 is not very close with respect to the flight model for a real F4U-D. Major differences include: 1 - The real F4U-D is nowhere, ... and nohow, ... as twitchy as the Magnitude 3 version. All the axes are more stable but most notably, pitch. 2 - While you do have to trim regularly in a real F4U-D, it is not the Tamagotchi situation that presently occurs with the DCS version. 3 - The well known left wing drop is not as bad in the real F4U-D. 3 - I can easily say that the real F4U-D is much faster, ... and subjectively much faster feeling, ... than the DCS version. (It's a f ........ throaty beast, ... and not just subjectively.) 4 - The 13 foot prop is much louder and throatier than the affair in DCS. 5 - While careful attention to engine management is crucial to success in the real F4U-D, the unusual engine seizures and characteristics currently of the DCS version are not correct. Now, I don't mean to drop a turd in the punchbowl and then run for the exits but I am not even a participating member of this forum (by my own choice). I just had not seen any comments from real warbird pilots and wanted to make a contribution. Lastly, I want to say that I am appreciative of Magnitude and time they have spent on this model. I know things will be fine tuned in the months and years ahead. Thanks for your work Magnitude!

  13. After several weeks of testing the Pimax Super, I’d like to share my impressions. First of all: my setup consists of a full cockpit mounted on a motion platform – which makes tracking especially challenging. Some of my observations may therefore not fully apply to a “normal” desk setup. 1) Setup with Pimax Play In short: absolutely straightforward and without issues. 2) Headstrap The already much-criticized tiny screws are indeed a bit of a joke. On top of that, the headstrap positioning is unfortunate, since its front edge overlaps with the face gasket. Tightening the strap puts more pressure on the gasket than on my head – not a workable solution. Workaround: By chance, I found out that mounting the strap underneath the face gasket works perfectly. This does not compromise the secure fit or the light seal in any way, but the strap now sits firmly on my forehead and provides solid support. 3) Setup for DCS With Pimax Play alone, performance is underwhelming even with QV settings. Thanks to Tally’s brilliant video on setting up the Super with QV Companion, I now get excellent results – limited to 72 Hz though. I almost never reach 90 Hz in complex missions, but 72 Hz are rock-solid, except during missions with heavily populated airports. Important: After every Pimax update, QV Companion must be reinstalled. Using the OpenXR API Layers GUI, always double-check that the right VR APIs are enabled (e.g., QV Companion) and others (like OpenXR Toolkit) are disabled. 4) Image Quality The resolution is simply stunning – even the tiniest cockpit labels are perfectly readable. Colors look vibrant, and night flying is very convincing. When it comes to Foveated Rendering, the size of the high-resolution area is crucial. If set too small, you’ll notice quality drops in your peripheral vision, especially at night with ground lights. Personally, I prefer flying "only" at 72 Hz with a larger FR zone, which feels much more natural. 5) Tracking This is where the Super struggles most. From the start, inside-out tracking was unstable for me: incorrect positioning, jittering in the cockpit, and especially deteriorating stability during long sessions. In my case, the cockpit itself blocks 40–50% of the headset’s visible tracking area. Combined with the motion platform movement, the Super must only rely on the static room environment. My Reverb G2, by the way, never had issues with this. What actually happened: As long as I was looking straight ahead, tracking was somewhat stable. But whenever I turned my head – left, right, or especially backwards – the headset lost orientation and tracking broke down completely. QR codes on the front walls helped a little, but once I looked away from them, chaos returned. After longer sessions, the problem got even worse. The solution: I placed QR codes not only in front but also to the sides and behind me (my platform stands in a corner of the room). Suddenly, the headset tracked much better while turning around. I also suspended QR codes from the ceiling in front of the cockpit, so the headset can pick them up just 1 m away instead of several meters further out. Another crucial step: Before flying, I always scan the entire room with the headset once. Only after that do I recenter VR or calibrate motion compensation. If the headset discovers new QR codes during flight (e.g., when turning around), it seems to re-calibrate mid-air, which in combination with motion compensation led to complete chaos. Since following this procedure, my tracking has been solid and jitter-free. Tracking summary: Place as many QR codes as possible on walls (also sides and rear), and even hang some from the ceiling, close to the seat position. Before each flight, scan the whole room (left/right, up/down). Only then recenter VR and calibrate motion compensation if needed. 6) Mura Effect Until recently, I didn’t even know what “Mura” was. Now I can identify it: a slight “smearing” effect, noticeable when I look at white clouds while my pupils are focused on the near range. But honestly: in real flying, this doesn’t matter to me. When looking into the distance, I can’t see it at all. When focusing on cockpit panels, the busy background of instruments masks it completely. It’s comparable to driving on the German Autobahn with a dirty pair of glasses at 250 km/h (which I actually do every day). In theory, there’s a smear on the lens, but in practice you’ll never notice it – your eyes are focused elsewhere. Conclusion After solving my tracking issues, I’m very impressed with the Pimax Super. Resolution, colors, stability – fantastic! Despite the (for me solved) weaknesses in the headstrap and tracking, I would buy it again without hesitation. A quick addendum – the Pimax Super does seem to have a (software) issue, there are a few problems at night. My tests above were all done in sufficiently bright dawn conditions, which is why I didn’t notice it earlier. Still, I was able to make a bit of progress:

  20. Thanks! And this pretty much sums up my experience too. Except that I don't use motion platform and really haven't had any tracking issues. And the extra headstrap solution - I gave up mounting it. Too difficult for my fingers. And also during mounting, before I gave up, I found out what you experienced too, that it's too close to/or would touch - the face gasket. I understand that you have found a solution, but my fingers and my patience can't take it... What were Pimax thinking while making this solution? I also have followed Tallymouse's video, except for that I didn't care to make DCS launchable from the Pimax Play Menus. I just use the DCS launcher. Also, I never made the even higher resolution shadows thingie that Tallymouse did. I use 72hz too. 90hz is too much, I'd rather have a few more details and some headroom and have everything buttery smooth without any stuttering. I believe that you not only have to re-install Tallymouse Quadviews companion app after Pimax update, but also Mbucchias Quadviews solution? The Mura effect, I agree with you on this too. Because while flying and looking outside out on the sky (where it would be visible) I have to de-focus my eyes to make it appear. And therefore, for me, it is not a problem. I accept that some might have gotten headsets with more mura than mine, but if anyone is complaining about a mura effect that only is visible when you focus on something else than what you are actually looking at - then I don't get it. One would simply be making issues just to make issues. No headset is perfect, but the Crystal Super is as close as it can get for me now. Fantastic clarity and colors. Very good FOV. Good head tracking. I am waiting for some equipment for my F-16 "cockpit" these days, so until I get that in the mail, I am trying the the Super in other games (which is something I have not done before!). Now it is Skyrim VR with some graphic and user interface mods too. And it is fantastic! And coming from an OG Crystal I think it so nice to spend hours and hours in a game without worrying about the batteries.

  24. Oh, I absolutely get that prices are different relative to income in some countries. Still, if one does't have the means to use DCS, that's (hard as it is) an individual problem. Some people seem to expect ED to cater to the least common denominator, and that doesnt sit well with me. Again - oh the irony!
    2 points
  25. Jeez, I didn't say that. But you must bring proof with official content. Like the S-3B Viking like Draconus did. Then you have a case not with unofficial content. I don't understand why that is so hard. Also, that's why I asked if you have tried with the unoffical community T-45. Because, if that one also have an issue, you have found the problem. There is a problem with mods. You're seriously asking who @IronMike is after five years? Cheers!

  31. hi Masterofzen! First, I want to make a enterelly new ground crew system, with modular models, more details, better animations, etc. Second, For the moment the animations are triggered by red or green state. This means, a two position possible, the rest and the sign. So, its not possible, with this mechanism, that one single object make 3 different animations.

  33. Don't ignore the other images especially the Eagle. There is nothing pointing at the F-35 to have its own effect instead of improving the global effect. Even airliners can display crazy vortexes without pulling Gs.
    2 points
  34. There is nothing special about F-35's visible wingtip vortex. All planes can leave massive trails IRL and it is dependent on the atmosphere conditions. The effect should be improved globally actually.

  36. Hi, When can the community expect the first moving images of the BO? So, first videos in DCS where we can get a first impression of the module? Or is it still too early?
    2 points
  37. Yup, hopefully before the end of the year. To add the AI C-123 provider, a few ground units and static objects. I don't have a defined list at the moment, I'd like to add a serie of static objects to increase the Vietnam "feel" on the Mariana WWII map, stuff like weapons cache, tunnel entrance, etc. as well as a few custom cargo objects to carry internally (special thanks to @TeTeT) Quick test: Unfortunately, the UH-1H cargo bay is quite small, can't even fit a stretcher in there No, I can't really share it in its current state. But if you can a great AI blackhawk mod: I tried and I can't figure out how to do it. The kind of animations necessary always create conflict for some reason.

  40. It seems to me that the best solution to this problem would be to give people a choice, just like in the Ka-50 III module, where in the mission editor we can select either the 2022 or 2011 version. A similar approach could be applied to the MiG-29A, where one version would be in line with the official documentation provided to the Warsaw Pact countries, and in the other version, they could, for example, allow the integration of the R-27ER or even the HARM, which are weapons that were actually used on this platform but not on the unmodernized version. Especially since it doesn't seem like we'll be getting a newer Russian fighter anytime soon. I think this would leave no one unsatisfied.
