08 August 2025 Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends, It is with great pleasure that we share a more complete list of the modules coming to the Pacific Theatre of Operations (PTO) Assets Pack. In parallel with other modules like the DCS: F4U-1D Corsair, the free DCS: Marianas WWII Map, and the upcoming DCS: F6F-3 Hellcat, the PTO Assets Pack is designed to provide a rich and detailed array of United States and Imperial Japanese air, ground, and naval units in the summer of 1944 PTO. Many of these units are finished, and others are still in progress; we look forward to your feedback. We are steadily progressing on our earlier released Mission Save State function. Please read the report below to learn about how we are improving this very useful feature. Additionally, we have added several fantastic modules to our Free Trial Program. You can try these aircraft and maps at no cost or obligation. Take them for a spin today! Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics Pacific Theatre of Operations 1944 Assets Pack Update Since the release of the free DCS: Marianas WWII map and the Magnitude 3 DCS: F4U-1D Corsair, we want to provide an update on the extensive effort being devoted to bringing this scenario to life with the PTO Assets Pack. Learning from some of the European Theatre of War scenarios, the PTO scenario is focused on providing an extensive order of battle for both US and Imperial Japanese forces in the summer of 1944 and to offer an accurate representation of the battle for the Mariana Islands and the Battle of the Philippine Sea. New player aircraft coming for this scenario will include both the F6F-3 Hellcat and the A6M5 Zero. Since our last update on this project, we can now share with you the specific air, land, and sea units being developed for the PTO Assets Pack, which owners of the existing World War II Assets Pack will be able to purchase with a 30% discount: PTO AI Assets: United States Aircraft F6F “Hellcat” SB2C “Helldiver” TBF “Avenger” SBD-5 “Dauntless” PBY “Catalina” P-38L “Lightning” United States Ships Enterprise aircraft carrier Casablanca-class light aircraft carrier Independence-class light aircraft carrier New Orleans-class heavy cruiser Baltimore-class heavy cruiser Cleveland-class light cruiser Fletcher-class destroyer Liberty-class transport Cimmaron-class oiler United States Ground Forces M4A2 Sherman M3A1 “Stuart” light tank LVT-4 tracked landing vehicle LVT(A)-4 tracked landing vehicle DUKW-353 amphibious truck US Marine Corp infantryman US Navy Carrier personnel US Navy seaman Imperial Japanese Aircraft A6M5 “Zero” D4Y “Judy” D3A “Val” B6N “Jill” Imperial Japan Ships Shokaku aircraft carrier Chitose light aircraft carrier Kongo battleship Mogami heavy cruiser Agano-class light cruiser Yugumo-class destroyer Kagero-class destroyer Kashino-class transport Imperial Japanese Ground Forces Type 94 Tankette Type 95 Ha-Go tank Kurogane Type 95 car Type 97 Te-Ke tank Type 97 Chi-Ha tank Type 97 ShinHoTo tank Type 2 Ka-M amphibious tank Type 1 47mm anti-tank gun Type 98 20mm anti-aircraft gun Type 91 10cm towed artillery Type 92 70mm towed artillery Type 10 120mm anti-aircraft gun Imperial Japanese Army Infantryman Japan Navy seaman Mission State Save Development Progress Following the initial release of the Mission Save state feature, we have gathered your feedback for further improvements. Based on this, we delivered an API feature request to our talented scripting community which was well received. Moving forward, a common request has been saving destroyed unit states on the battlefield. We have now tackled this issue, and destroyed static objects will be created in place of each destroyed ground vehicle, aircraft, infantry unit, or static building (not terrain/map buildings) in the Mission Save state. In this sense, the battlefield wreckage remains where the destruction took place. With the Mission Editor, these objects will be automatically given a "hidden" parameter to not clutter the map view. However, if you want to remove them from the mission because of your plot choice, you can find them in the Mission Editor units list and delete them. We will be releasing this improvement in an upcoming update once testing is fully complete. Based on your feedback, our next task for Mission Save state improvements will be to save a group’s waypoint parameters. This work is ongoing and includes the ability to save specific ground vehicles parameters such as ROE and more. Your comments here are insulting many people and with relatively low knowledge of the subject. If you don't care, the developer doesn't care either. The best you can do is politely ask, that's all. You even marked your reply as resolved. That's really lol.16 points

It takes a lot of time to develop, support and maintain a dcs mod. Having neverending toxic discussions like it is done in this community does not motivate and is no fun at all. And the time I spent on this will not come back nor would be payed somehow (except few donations thx) So it makes the most sense to focus on more grateful topics in life.15 points

Is it possible to publish the manual earlier, before the EA version is released? So I can read it then before ?15 points

Given the fact there is a FAQ on their Discord, but not in this forum I've decided to copy it in here so people can find it better. From the FAQ on Airplane Simulation Company Discord as by August the 2. : Q. Which variants are planned? A. Stage 1- C-130J Block 6.5 Hercules, Tactical airlifter C-130J-30, Lockheed Martin designation for its 15 ft (4.6 m) extended fuselage variant; designated CC-130J by USAF for a short time after 2002., Release timeline to be confirmed for the following at a later date: MC-130J, Designed for Air Force Special Operations Command. Originally named Combat Shadow II., Q. Are the C130H or legacy models planned? A. No. Q. What is the expected release date? A. By the end of 2025. Q. Will the C-130J be able to transport weapons? A. We intend for the C-130 to be able to carry any warehouse items between bases. Q. CNI/FMS? A. Yes, a fully simulated FMS is included. We have also modeled airways/SIDS/stars, etc. Q. MOAB? A. Yes! Q. Will there be an AC variant? A. Depending on sales, we will consider an AC / Harvest Hawk in the future. Q. Airdrops? A. Yes for cargo and vehicles. Paratroops will be added when ED puts them in game. Q. Multicrew? A. Yes, at least 3. Q. Cargo Loading/Unloading without needing scripts? A. Yes. Any cargo dropped or landed will be added to the DCS warehouse system. Q. What defensive systems will the plane have? A. The plane will have an RWR, MWS, and IIRCM systems. The fidelity levels of these are limited by both the availability of unclassified information on those systems, as well as DCS itself. Q. What skins will be available? A. The list is unconfirmed at the time as there are so many national operators, but the artist will produce a paintkit in the future, after release, for livery makers. Q. Will we add the fuel probe? A. Possibly in future after initial release Hope this one will prevent some confusion and give answers to people who aren't using Discord. As soon as a more official FAQ arrives, this one can be closed and put into archives.15 points

Random claims that this project "won't work" because "I don't listen to the community suggestions" that he yet didn't prove (it's been almost a week). Doesn't look like a friendly constrictive criticism to me. (I took suggestions about landing gear, textures and roughmets, weapon placements and many more) I did not attack anyone. I just asked him to explain his point of view, which he actively refuses to do and also started getting political before having his posts removed by a moderator. If someone isn't supporting this project, just don't check the thread and don't pollute it with unnecessary comments. I added him into ingnored users, and everyone doing similar thing will be added too. Criticism and opinions is a good thing, but only if they bring something to the table instead just being hateful.12 points

Anyway, I made weapons control panel with left/right pylon selection and ripple selector from 1 from each pylon to 4 and all. Also the interval/delay knob which I'm still working on. https://streamable.com/au8scd12 points

I wouldn't say there's much of a gamble involved here. Although as the person who wrote most of the code, I am slightly biased.11 points

While she may not appeal to all, I'm certain there is a good chunk of the DCS community that is ecstatic to get their hands on this beauty not to mention the entirely new market this could potentially open up for non-combat focused flight simmers! I really hope ASC are here to become the Heatblur if you will of the logistics and the non-standard module world, can't wait to see where these guys take us in this 4-engine beast. Thank you ASC for opening up a whole new world in DCS and thanks to both ASC and ED for pushing the boundaries of what DCS is and giving it a yet another layer of operations! I'd kill for a good C-2/E-2 module. Nothing like shooting a fat prop on and off a deck!11 points

have to say that I agree with your sentiment @NineLine You just nuked the validity of the Post-VAEO statement You ask about us understanding ED's position, but do you actually understand your customer's position? Because the way it's presented now seems is that ED grants us even less protection than their 3rd parties10 points
-
In other words: the whole safety clause reasoning was only there to placate the customers at the time and, since this is now all confidential, we as consumers have no clue whether or not this applies to any given product. That means we would be wise to assume it does not. One might go as far as saying the whole talk about how the VAEO thing won't ever happen again was simply a lie. In any case, thank you for giving a clearer answer on it.10 points

Are you seeing the never-ending circle here yet? You claim something not corroborated by both sides, then someone shares their opinion not corroborated by both sides. One person believes their source, another believes theirs... and around we go again. Welcome to this thread.10 points

The features that are listed here will all be available on release. The primary reason for the EA launch tag is inclusion (for free) of the MC-130J, which will come a bit later.10 points
-
Yes, absolutely. Only(!) three years, which is actually quite fast, for such a complex DCS module. And considering they did basically dump all the existing code base AND the 3D model and started from scratch along the current development (see interview below), that's an incredible development pace.10 points

Hello to all heli pilots out there, or those who want to become one. If you're new to DCS or helicopters and want to learn how to control the helicopter without flight computer support, then you're exactly where you belong in this group. You're looking to operate like a pilot, not just a player. I (Grizzly, a helicopter flight instructor) and others from the squadron offer online individual and group training. It doesn't matter which helicopter type you want to fly. However, the UH-1 Huey is particularly suitable for beginners. But if you don't want to invest too much money in DCS at the beginning, MODS can also be used by arrangement. Feel free to get in touch with us here, on our Discord, or via direct message. https://discord.gg/aqwzv2P Ein Hallo an alle Heli Flieger da draußen oder die es noch werden wollen.

I did, according ED themselves, per december 2018, all new agreements after the Hawk are subject to the 'new' rules concerning sourcecode/files I can't think of one logical reason ED is unwilling to divulge this basic information if module agreements are pre- or post Hawk, as the latter should be equal for all 3rd parties across the board At least no reason that does not impact the validity of the message ED posted about the contractual way forward after that debacle I'm sorry, that's a political non-statement, as this does not elaborate if these contracts have the Post-Hawk stipulation in them9 points
-
Yes, DCS has been around 16 years and yes, it's still a very cool bit of software. However, I reckon this is a defining moment for ED. There's been controversy but this ones big, probably the biggest. I'm not questioning the current state of the modules. Like many, I'm foreseeing these modules being unusable in future versions of DCS as was the case with the Hawk and I'm asking what ED has in place to prevent this type of thing occurring with the remaining 3rd party devs. It's a pretty reasonable question. In terms of the EULA, the most relevant thing I can see says ED can simply walk away from any of it's obligations under the section I quote below: "9.1 Eagle Dynamics SA may transfer, assign, charge, sub-contract or otherwise dispose of this Licence, or any of our rights or obligations arising under it, at any time during the term of this Licence." It's not much of an agreement when one of the parties can just walk away from it's obligations and, as I say, EULA doesn't mean a company can ignore it's legal obligations set out by the nation it's trading in. Really, it's all meaningless. I highly doubt an individual is going to put all this to the test, it simply isn't worth the effort so we can forget all that nonsense. It boils down to this. I, and I suspect many others have lost or are losing confidence in the product because of this situation. If you can be bothered to have a look at my profile, you will see the sharp decline in purchases. This is almost entirely due to the situation with RAZBAM. It's not that I care about RAZBAM as such, it's that there's a lot of third party content, it's expensive and it's not beyond the realms of possibility that some of the smaller 3rd party devs could fall over for any number of reasons. I want to know what protections customers have should products stop working. What's the policy, if any? If there isn't one, maybe there should be. If it's just a matter of "read the EULA, this is what you signed up for" then ok, I guess we'll see how that works out long term.9 points
-
It's called "Digital Combat Simulator" but that doesn't mean you have to fly combat all the time. The quality of the planes and maps allows not only for great combat flights, but just flights period. It's a sandbox after all, it's what you make of it. And I make a lot of great non-combat flights. For my part, I'm here first and foremost for the flying. And DCS, certainly for me, has the best flightsim characteristics of them all. For sure I'm gonna blow **** up, but that's secondary to the quality of the flying. If it was just about the "pew pew" I'd be over with the Blore Blunder crowd flying from an exterior view. Barf! But that's not my thing. DCS gives me the tighest rightest flgithsim and the ability to blow **** up. My choice. And my choice regarding the C-130, is a great big "Yes please!"9 points
-
@Wags @BIGNEWY @NineLine Gents, quick question for ED. I pre purchased the C-130 and noticed in early access there was going to be the ability to walk around inside the aircraft and out upon release. I was under the impression ED was waiting on updated tech to accomplish this. Does this mean we could see the same for the CH-47 in a closer upcoming patch, or is this functionality for the ED modules still a ways out?9 points

There are countless examples. They do carry them, and it may be required, especially during combat missions (and DCS is a combat simulator, right?). For MSFS, this might be strange, but for DCS, it's not. However, I agree that it would be nice to have the option of wearing a helmet or not. That is, having the pilots' heads, without helmets, wearing only headsets. Of course, this would probably require some changes (and contrary to appearances, modeling a human is one of the most difficult elements in 3D graphics combined with simulation), but it's possible. @ASC, maybe it's worth considering this option for users too?9 points
-
Don't follow this thread then. I don't understand what your problem is. You can doubt as much as you want, project is not waiting for your personal approval Just as I thought, several days pass, he responded to others yet no elaboration. I guess he has something personal with me, which I don't know of, neither do I care.9 points
-
Your enthusiasm is yours to manage as you please, of course. My enthusiasm, however, remains enthusiastic. I want all the fancy flightsim enjoyment I can have. And a DCS C-130, for me certainly, is top of the list. And I'll pre-order, twice, to get my hands on that kind of flying fun. Actually I will pre-order twice, I'm getting one for me and one for a content creator. As stated, I'm very enthusiastic. I think this is a great step forward for the sim.9 points

Hear hear! This is what is going to cost you customers. If you can’t guarantee your own rules on releases that were based on after the VEAO situation then why should we trust any 3d party module at all? Especially when you say you can’t comment about this….8 points

As i´ve said, passion and support is not enough now. We as customers are asked to have faith also.8 points

I hope once this is all over we can share more with you. What you are suggesting about making things clearer about third party products has already been discussed internally. But of course as mentioned there are confidentially agreements that need to be considered, maybe in the future we can add some more clarity. Thank you8 points

I got my Pimax Crystal Super yesterday. From before I have a Crystal OG and are also somewhat familiar with the Crystal Light. In my house I also have Quest 3 and Pico 4. I also have Playstation VR 2. And eariler I have had HTC Vive, Vive Pro, Reverb G1, Reverb G2. Pimax 8KX (which actually still have, but don't use). I remember when I first got my Crystal OG quite some time back it could be troublesome to get it to connect and start up. No worries with the Crystal Super. Downloaded and installed Pimax Play, and plugged in the USB cable and Display port cable, and connected the power plug - and Voila - just worked like it should. And nice to forget about the battery too... Yesterday I played around a bit in Microsoft Flight simulator 2024. I didn't know that I had to turn off Quad Views in Pimax Play to get MSFS 2024 own Quadviews to work - so my performance wasn't very good. So - Moira - ever since the first VR youtubers did their videos about the Crystal Super and its "terrible Moira" problems I guess many "ordinary" customers have worried/are still worrying about their Super - will it have moira? The good: We know Pimax have been working to improve the quality control. At least they say so, and that eventually led to delays in shipping for many customers when Pimax got panels from production that wasn't good enough to be used in their Super headsets. And, yeah - not nice to get your shipping delayed. But, be glad that it's happening this way. Because I believe them. You don't have to if don't want to of course. BUT- I can not see any Moira during game play. On my old Reverb G2 and especially on my PSVR2 I could see moira during gameplay quite easy - but I forgot about it in the heat of the action of course. I was expecting that the Crystal Super might be this way too. It is not. It is much better! Is it completely gone? Don't think so, but then again, I can find moira on my other headsets as well (Crystal OG, Pico, Quest 3) if I care to spend time looking for it. So, Moira is a non issue now on the Crystal Super. IF you find the level of moria I have (which I can not see unless I spend time trying to defocus my eyes against a clear bright one colored background - which is in itself a bit tricky to do) - then maybe take up bowling and stop playing VR games Chromatic aberration - well, my original Pimax Crystal has some. It is easy to see, but I forget about while playing. This Crystal Super though - oh, my oh my - these lenses are good! Not a problem. Also the edge to edge clarity is much better than my Crystal OG (and the Crystal Light I tested for a while) and that combined with the much improved field of view... The level of clarity I get in DCS is just incredible with the Super. I will write more about how I did later on here. But let me tell you - the clarity, the brightness... Flying a F-16 at full afterburner over cities, houses, trees... the sense of speed is very, very good now! The bigger FOV helps with this, but I would think the improved clarity also come into play. The eyes and the brain notice a lot more on the ground while flying. And bear in mind - I am comparing against to Crystal OG. (The Quest 3 is nowhere near this of course, (it is not in the same neighbor hood - or even the same country). The clarity improvement shows itself very good when looking down, scanning for things/objects on the ground. It is easier to pick out the small details. Also things in the distance is sharper. Noticeably so. And it is bright! Very bright. I have not tried night flying yet. So can not say how that turns out. Sound - the speakers that it comes with are "ok". But my order came also with the DMAS speakers included, so I mounted them and now the sound is quite good. For me, the face gasket is a good fit. Rather comfortable. The front part of the the headset is not as wide or wobbly as the Crystal OG, and that is in improvement! Hand controllers - nah. I Don't use them. Headset Tracking - in my environment today - no big issues. It has worked good I think. Things that are not perfect: Auto IPD - gave me a strange value. So I turned auto IPD off and adjusted manually to my IPD. No biggie, but it is an advertised feature so I have to mention it. The cable from the headset to the PC is a bit thick and stiff. I don't like that. But getting the full lossless Display port image is more important to me than the small issue living the somewhat thick cable. The headset is a bit front heavy. Not more than my Pimax Crystal OG. And the total weight is OK. But like most headsets (except for Pico 4) it is a bit front heavy. My order came with the Comfort Top Strap, but - I have yet to figure out how to mount that in a sensible manner. I had no problems mounting a Pimax top strap on my other Pimax headsets, but this one is somewhat different, and.. well. I will investigate this further later on. It is possible to use the headset without it of course, but I'd like to get it fixed. The front part of the headset do get a bit warm, but I don't feel it unless I move my hand to touch the front plate - so it is nothing serious. The experimental Wide Fov mode in Pimax Play for this "non wide" Crystal Super... I have not felt so dizzy in VR since started using VR in 2017! 5 minutes and I had to turn it off. The normal FOV on this Qled 50PPD Crystal is so good that I don't miss it. The wide FOV version of the Super that comes later, that is physically made for wider FOV, will be different of course. But this software solution was not for me at least. VR Flight Sim guy did longer session with it - and congratulations to him I never bought this Super for a software fix wider FOV, it even was not a thing when I ordered so... this does not influence my opinion about this headset. Conclusion: Wow!! Just wow! For me this is a clear upgrade from the Crystal OG. The Crystal OG also had eye tracking. But - the clarity improvement is .. I would say big. The lenses are way better, chromatic aberration is as good as gone. The edge to edge clarity is bigger. The field of view. The brightness. The battery is gone. The ability to pick out fine details in the distance is well improved. Expensive. But this is my hobby. My PC is an AMD 9950X3D and RTX 5090, 64Gigs of 6000Mhz RAM. To get the best picture an maintain steady over 72fps in full resolution is followed Tallymouse guide on youtube. It it is execellent! Tallymouse settled for 90 FPS. I restrained myself to 72fps to have some overhead.8 points

I'm in the process of making comparison GIF for all aircraft. So far, I made 6 of them and I can tell you that: HUD boldness is not affected by resolution for the following aircraft: JF-17 (the result is very clean) A-10C Ka-50 (the result is poor because characters are much too bold, whatever the resolution) EDIT: AH-64 HUD boldness is indeed affected by resolution for the following aircraft: AV-8B F-16 F/A-18C EDIT: F-15E affected too, even though it's less striking I stand corrected about the AV-8B. This GIF method is the best I could find to demonstrate the issue (even to myself). Thanks for pushing me harder when it's needed, gents. Once I'm finished, I'll report all affected aircraft individually.8 points

Pre-ordered! Thank you for your hard work. This will be one hell of a flight experience. Despite the perception, that there's not "much to do for a C-130J in DCS" I can't wait to do all those things we will be able to do! From supply drops, combat landings on improvised short runways, cargo delivery on a dynamic multiplayer server, to the MC-130J and infil and exfil of SpecOps teams behind enemy lines or in the Hindukush mountains in weather and at night... And the impressions from the pre-order trailer are awesome. Really looking forward to this gem!8 points

UPDATE – BO-105 DEVELOPMENT STATUS It’s time for a proper update. Since 2013, I’ve been working to bring the BO-105 into DCS – and the path has been anything but smooth. I’ve gone through technical hell, complete rewrites, system redesigns, hardware issues – and just as many challenges caused by people, not technology. To be clear: some individuals actively made it difficult to realize this module. Instead of support, I encountered deliberate resistance, withheld knowledge, and ego games from so-called “experts” who could’ve helped but chose not to. But I didn’t give up. I pushed forward. A true game-changer came with access to the original technical documentation from Lager Lechfeld. These documents didn’t just clarify the system architecture – they provided every single value needed to accurately simulate the engine: flow rates, pressures, temperature limits, control curves, response timings – all of it. That level of data brought the entire project to the next level of fidelity. Right now, we’re fully focused on improving and finalizing the fuel control system, which is directly dependent on the GPFC (Gas Producer Fuel Control) – the brain of the BO-105’s turbine management. The current implementation includes: – Fuel flow logic and pressure dynamics – Ohmic resistance, voltage, amperage, and current load behavior – Hydraulic system response and complete onboard electrical logic – All connected in one integrated simulation environment The engine is being simulated 1:1, using real-world parameters – no assumptions, no placeholders. Just raw, system-level fidelity. And that’s not all – the entire rotor system is fully modeled, including the hingeless, rigid rotor head and its unique 78° phase lag. This key difference to conventional rotor systems has a significant impact on control behavior and is being replicated exactly in the flight model. So why all this? Because the BO-105 is the love of my life. This isn’t just about “getting it to fly” – it’s about honoring a machine that deserves to exist in DCS in all its technical brilliance. To those who’ve supported this project over the years – thank you. To those who made it harder – congratulations. You made it take longer. But you didn’t stop it. This isn’t just a helicopter mod. It’s a mission that started in 2013 – sharpened by adversity, fueled by obsession, and built with absolute love and respect for this aircraft. And yes – I know the flight model commentary is coming. I’ll be reading it… popcorn in hand8 points
