  1. The RAF and Pickard did what they were asked to do, and then some. I don't disagree about that part. But was Amiens really worth it? IMO I don't think so.
  2. Okay, thanks Nephilim. I guess I'll have to redo this part.
  3. According to RL pilots you don't really see the outlines. It's like wearing glasses. You only see the frames of your glasses if you really concentrate on them right? That's exactly how this is supposed to work. So no idea if this is just because it's a 2d representation, but if it's that intrusive in VR, then I'm simply not going to use it.
  4. Is this WMR for Steam or Windows WMR? I think I have done so. I've done so twice since reinstalling windows actually. Can you please elaborate on doing the moves? I've chosen the "seating" position where you don't really have to move or anything. Is that wrong? Do I have to circle my PC?
  5. Hi, total G2 newb here. How do I get 6-dof movement with my G2 in DCS? Currently when I move my head forwards and backwards, the whole "space" moves with me. I don't know how to explain it better. Any ideas anyone?
  6. Is this related? I can log in. But: Can't get main menu to show up:
  7. That Amiens prison raid is the stuff of legend. Unfortunately it is also the stuff of folly. Dangerous, and from a strategic viewpoint completely unnecessary, ultimately it resulted in two thirds of the escaped prisoners being recaptured with a 100 or so prisoners dying in the bombing raid. A complete fools errand that among other casualties claimed Pickard's life. What a waste.
  8. I still feel that the Hind is too unstable and twitchy compared to the Hip. This might be due to it's much larger mass, especially when fully armed and fueled, however I find it much more difficult to control and much less docile than the venerable Mi17. I don't know if this is as it should be or whether it is pilot error, or maybe something with regards to it's still in-complete flight model and SAS channels or whatever. Something about the Hind still feels off to me.
  9. Just curious, what did you set as the native steam resolution for the G2? 2160 x 2160?
  10. I'd probably avoid the Founders edition (due to cooling solution) and the EVGA (due to some soldering issues with some cards in the beginning of the production run). With that said I think just go for the one that is closest to it's RRP.
  11. Go to Settings > Audio settings. There you can choose which outputs are being used by DCS, just choose the Rift S headphones or whatever they are called.
  12. Global Illumination ON or OFF? Anyone test this, recommendations? (The cockpit seems to look slightly better with ON although I have no idea what this setting really does)
  13. Interesting. Bookmarked for testing.
  14. Seems like they changed the way that YAW SAS works again in the DCS Hind. Or maybe I haven't been paying attention. In any case if you depress the pedals, the YAW channel will turn off and allow you control, but it will engage as soon as you bring the pedals close to center again, however it will remain set on the previous heading until you take your feet of the pedals at which point it will set the YAW to the new heading. This seems like it might be a bug. Can anyone reproduce this?
  15. Another mini-update is up. I wonder how that thing will work in VR?
  16. Actually that is very, very highly dependent on the type of MANPAD used. In RL at least. Unfortunately in DCS flares are dice rolls. Which means if you throw out enough of them they will work even against manpads which use other types of guidance systems in addition to IR and against which flares should be ineffective.
  17. I think manpads are supposed to be effective in real life too. Not sure what type exactly are in discussion here but modern, shoulder carried IR\UV\Imaging AA missiles are extremely effective inside their engagement ranges. Especially if fired correctly, from an angle where the target has very little chance of spotting it coming at them.
  18. Also it's another 3d model that has to be rendered and textured and every little bit helps with those pesky frametimes
  19. Is this server still running?
  20. First thing I do when flying VR is turn off the body.
  21. Why would it matter what type of port it's using? Isn't USB3 enough? Other than the positional stuff what kind of data is it sending through the USB anyway? The really important stuff I.E. the "picture" needs to get outputted through the graphics card port, otherwise that huge graphics pipeline and bus is completely wasted...
  22. One other thing to consider. This studio is basically a continuation of Leatherneck which broke away from Heatblur (or rather the other way around). They are very slow to produce modules. So even if the Su-17 is on their TODO list, it's going to be a loooooong way off, considering that after they release the Corsair (something that is taking them a huge amount of time) their next module is supposed to be the F-8 Crusader.
  23. A full fidelity Mig29 would be nice, but I for one would wish for a new RED airframe that we do not already have in the FC3 inventory. What I really, really wish for would be Su-24. That would be a dream come true for me personally. A low level strike aircraft that could rival the Viggen or any of the upcoming Blue strikers.
  24. Well to be fair, the G2 in DCS is really an amazing experience when it works. It's just a huge hassle to get it to work, and really requires some beefy hardware. I did manage to solve my system problems yesterday, also downloaded DCS world and a few modules\maps so fingers crossed I will be flying today after work.
  25. Yes the Hind is demanding. About the same as the F14
