TLDR: The Tomcat is the sexiest plane ever and if you are reading this stop and go buy it now. Right now. It's the best. The end.

Well they sure as hell will be coming into contact in DCS World

reported VR Head Restrictions to Within Cockpit
Lurker replied to Magic Zach's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Much ado about nothing. I mean using TrackIR you can basically swivel your head around for a 360 degree view, and no one considers that to be an issue, so....- 47 replies

I wonder if it will be able to outrun the 109K....

Good stuff. Thank you @Charly_Owl

reported VR Head Restrictions to Within Cockpit
Lurker replied to Magic Zach's topic in DCS Core Wish List
We are already restricted by our backs and our necks. All this would add is nausea. And more workload on developers who should be concentrating on making VR more scalable and perform better.- 47 replies

The HIND is a lot of fun. Give it a try. I'm digging it. As for the Apache, late summer is the "pre-order" target, it has nothing to do with the release date.

Maybe you should lay off the hyperbole. The AIM54 is a big missile, but it's not SCUD sized. One other thing to consider, if the AIM120 is tracking a fighter, why would it switch to a relatively much smaller and faster object with a much smaller RCS? Unless it was tracking the AIM54 from the get-go, or fired MADDOG it shouldn't be tracking the missile at all.

Heatblur Update - Supersize Me & Public Roadmap
Lurker replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Apart from the missed dates (like every single developer out there) they have pretty much delivered what they promised on all counts in my book. Things are always subject to change, but why would they go ahead and state that they will not release the Typhoon into EA until the Tomcat and Viggen were out of EA? One other thing, what textures are missing in the Tomcat? -
F/A18E/F Super Hornets block 1 and BLock 2 E/F ( lot 26)
Lurker replied to Kev2go's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Oh look another Super-Hornet wishlist thread. People sure love their Prius station-wagons -
Yeah, I think that there is a control bug or maybe even a design flaw in the way that the YAW SAS microswitches are engaged in the DCS Mi24p. So far, what works best is 0 curves, and 0 dead-zone, anything else will mess up your pedal and yaw control with YAW SAS Channel on.

Heatblur Update - Supersize Me & Public Roadmap
Lurker replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
I think Heatblur have commented frequently that this is exactly the plan that they are following. Only at the end of the early access period of the Tomcat and the Viggen will they consider releasing another module into early access. Just remember, that even when out of EA, this does not mean that the modules will be completely bug free. -
Ugh....I hope that's not what it looks like because it looks frankly....pretty terrible....

Read my answer again, he should switch to another mode (like RWS) and if he follows the bandit down low and suspects him of being close enough then to PLM or VSD-Hi or low and has to maneuver. And yes, if he wants to stay high and fast then definitely use TWS, but if he's not picking anything up then turn back and recommit only after putting significant distance between himself and the bandit. In any kind of engagement SA is everything, and unfortunately any kind of look down situation against a bandit or bogey that's sneaking around in the mountain valleys is going to be sketchy at best.

Progress pictures on the Eurofighter Typhoon
Lurker replied to DashTrueGrit's topic in DCS: Eurofighter
I'm a bit worried about how the glass cockpit lettering and display will look in VR. Do I have to be? I'm currently using a Rift S. Will it scale properly and will I be able to read the displays without zooming in in the Rift S? -
It's either that, or the F16 was using terrain masking. @eatthis In any case using TWS while going after a bad guy flying low in the mountains is not going to get you anywhere in the F14. Stay high, and fast or switch to another radar mode while searching for him if you follow him down low. If you suspect him of being down low and closing fast, but can't pick him up: Always assume the worst, that he is below your radar cone and act accordingly.

There is a lot of very wrong information in this thread. There is absolutely no reason why the SAS-YAW channel should be disabled in any part of the flight regime other than when taxing with wheels on tarmac.

Welcome to the club! RTX3090 is the best damned graphics card I've ever owned, worth every penny.
-
Talking about percentages is kind of missing the point. AFAIK Heatblur\Truegrit will be modeling only the systems that they are reasonably sure that they can accurately model. And by accurately I mean, the systems will be simulated to work within the DCS framework to match the performance of their real world counterparts as closely as possible. To do that they don't need to know exactly how a certain system operates (although having that data is certainly desirable), all they need is documentation and SME support as to what the system is supposed to do.

Razbam is currently developing the Mudhen.

Have either of you tried turning off HAGS in Windows settings? I'm team green (RTX3090) but it did wonders for my frame-times in VR. It's worth a try. If it does nothing or brings down your performance you can always turn it back on again.
-
Is this really true? Because that would clearly indicate a bug. Or am I missing something and the Mig31 radar has the ability to redirect a missile that is already trashed after losing target lock, once it locks on to another target?
-
How about the tactics used in that type of scenario, is it typical to hover and engage the enemy or would you do passes of some kind or orbits around the engagement zone?
