Hello, After the latest update, I noticed that the English cockpit mods no longer work, and there is no dropdown in the Special menu to even select a cockpit skin. I looked into this and found that all of the Mirage textures are now in \Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\Mirage-F1\Textures. Furthermore, the regular textures are split into 2 separate .zip folders, and the Normal Maps and Roughmets are also in their own separate .zip folders. This is different than the original folder structure for cockpit texture mods normally utilized by the Saved Games folder (\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\Cockpit-F1EE\English Cockpit). I did set up a folder package that directs to the new location for the textures with the English Cockpit and it worked, but it does not pass IC due to it being in the installation folder. I'm working on figuring out how to get this to work by utilizing the Saved Games folder. If anyone has any info on this, please feel free to add your thoughts!

Hiya folks been working hard on getting the k4 cockpit up to par as much as humanly possible with obvious constraints and limitations of this old DCS bird but I am pleased to give you proper cockpit mod. Here's what I've done Every texture was upscaled to 4k, then every single line, scratch, wood grain, edge was refined to 4k standard giving a much sharper image. Colors were corrected to historical late war RLM 66, with aid of research and AI. In game shade and direct sunlight were cross referenced for honing in proper lightness and hue Revi 16b Gunsight changed to more plausible black configuration along with historically accurate base mounting plate and mounting bracket being in the correct color configuration Cockpit floor was basically redone from scratch. Panels, rivits, dirt, oil, wear and tear were added carefully cross referencing historical photos Please keep in mind this is what I produced with the most available data and a super smart robot that talks to me. It was not uncommon for pilots and crew to modify parts and use paints to their liking which is why you almost never find a 109 cockpit that looks the same even if its the same variant. Has anyone made this Finnish livery, HN-421 ? I've scoured the user files but came up empty handed. Wondering if someone may have made it and be willing to share it. Gents, & Miladies, I'm trying to learn to skin my own hawg, and I'm wondering if the pattern I found can be cut to wrap around the body contours of the fuselage and the bits and pieces of the canopy, etc. I really like the chocolate chip desert pattern and want to use it. I brought it into the gimp file background layer, but it doesn't wrap-around at the red panel lines. It just skips that area and continues on, resulting in colors that do not continue or line up. All the tutorials I've seen everyone "hand colors" their patterns or uses a digital design that doesn't really need to be lined up. Is that really the way it has to be done? If so, I don't know if I want to put in that much effort. Any recommendations are much appreciated. And don't feel bad if you have to break the bad news to me. Many thanks, Callsign: "Hookah"

This mod is a texture revamp of the default P-51D skins within DCS. It is an attempt to bring the Mustang's graphical fidelity closer to ED's latest texture standards. Currently it is only available in 2K, as the 4K texture overhaul is still WIP. See latest posts on this thread. Version: 1.1 (11/16/21) I have returned to this project in late October 2022, and the progress on a 4K texture Mustang has begun! For progress updates, be sure to check the latest posts on this thread. This is a WIP personal project. That means that working on this depends and uses my time, so I'm not going to be consistent. And the WIP also means that this mod will continually be updated! That means for the latest version with the newest features and latest bug fixes, you need to check in here or the DCS Userfiles occasionally. I will make a post here for every update I make. This thread is primarily for bug reports from you guys, feedback, and progress updates from myself. "Progress updates? Like what?" I will try to do major updates in phases. Planned features upcoming, in lose order, are: additional/modified weathering, increased texture resolution, completely overhauled rivet and fastener scheme, followed by an overhauled normal map. These last two are pretty far off. We'll see how this goes. As I work on these, I'll probably post little snips of the work in here. NOTE: NOT ALL SKINS FOR THE 51 ARE CURRENTLY INCLUDED. So I decided to try making some custom skins, but when I went to the aircraft folder to copy some, I found none of the FC3 planes listed except for the A-10. And when I checked the individual livery folders, in most cases the DDS files are missing. With the F-16 some only have the DDS file for the tail. And the majority of those skin folders are compressed. Where's the FC3 planes, and why are some DDS files missing?

I'm going to preface this with a one-stop summary: This is a post arguing for already-made and available liveries for the Fw-190A8 to be added to DCS officially for broader usage to the playerbase in singleplayer and online, allowing other players to use and see them. Download options are available at the bottom of this post. Who: The skins are made by myself. I have been within the DCS community for a good number of years, since the Dogs of War server (when there was only the P51, Fw190D9, and Bf109K), and almost all of it was within the WWII side of DCS. Of mission makers and server runners today, like the 4YA Project Overlord server, one of the most reoccurring complaints from mission designers is that we do not have a historical livery selection for the Fw190. This has been noted by the player base of late. Having been around these complaints and criticisms for some time, within that context and that of the required time period and location, I've created a set of liveries for the Fw190A. What: We do not have a single historical and relevant livery for the Fw190A8 in DCS at this moment. Of all the chosen liveries from the Fw190A8's livery contest, none of them are historical, or relevant to France in 1944. Some of them do not have working bort numbers. A couple are Japanese Zero cosplays. And some are only relevant to earlier versions of the Anton. There is a big deficit in DCS for a historical livery set for the Anton 8. To attempt to remedy this, I have created liveries for JG26 and JG1 in their summer 1944 configuration. I'm proposing that Eagle Dynamics incorporate some of these liveries into DCS officially. This will give the simulator its first historical liveries for the Fw190A8. There are 6 liveries (different Staffeln) of the JG26 to choose from, and 4 from JG1. One may argue that an individual can install any liveries he may choose from the Userfiles and use those. However, this has some severe limitations: 1) Other players online cannot see your livery unless they, by pure coincidence, have that livery also installed. That is very rare. 2) Our most popular servers have the Liveries locked. They cannot be changed by the player, only the mission designer. So it benefits everyone more if these new liveries are added to the official DCS install. Then everyone has them as standard, and it can be used and seen by everyone. Historical Context: The Liveries: Here I have a livery for 2./JG26, 4./JG26 5./JG26, 6./JG26, 7./JG26, and 8./JG26, comprising of half of I./JG26, and all of II./JG26. For JG1, I have 1./JG1, 2./JG1, 3./JG1, and 6./JG1, consisting of most of I./JG1 and a Staffel from II./JG1. I made some special features for these liveries. 1) the camouflage tones, specifically RLM 70, were adjusted to be a more realistic darker color tone 2) each livery has a slightly different camouflage pattern on the fuselage. If you look closely you can see the differences between each livery 3) the bort numbers are custom drawn, and weathered to better suit the weather-worn nature of the aircraft First and second Gruppe, JG1. The JG1 identify themselves by their red tail band and unit emblem on the cowling. 1./JG1, which often included additional ID paint on the underside of the wing tips: 2./JG1: 3./JG1: 6./JG1: First and second Gruppe, JG26. The JG26 identify themselves by their yellow rudder, and the II./JG26 by the inclusion of a horizontal bar. The bar and ID numbers change depending on the Staffel within that Gruppe. 2./JG26: 4./JG26: 5./JG26: 6./JG26: 7./JG26: 8./JG26: Downloads: I have given these liveries a tiered choice to be included into DCS. A first top 5, and a second top 5. There are two options for how to download 1) Standard download. Each livery is individual, and individually includes all the textures it requires. This includes, due to the adjusted camouflage tones, the left and right wings. Disk space consumed for all 10 liveries: 666MB. Standard download HERE. 2) Reliant download. Each new livery is dependent on the 1./JG1 livery to acquire the left and right wing textures, instead of locally. This requires the 1./JG1 livery to be included, in order for other chosen liveries to work. However, this more smartly uses disk storage. Disk space consumed for all 10 liveries: 282MB. I'm trying to make a skin and I'm having lot of trouble with the nose numbers on description.lua file. I think it has to do something with the "Tac Number Nose Set 1" and those values. I'd like to use only two numbers that change in the mission editor but I just don't find the proper values for it. And is there anyway to make the font smaller? I only get scrambled textures or something that shows on the attached picture as I would like to get it to look like on the real picture. Could someone please help me?

The old template, and how all of my current skins are formatted, consisted of two files labeled diff. The current downloadable texture template has 8 or so main files, which are not oriented in a similar fashion to the old files. Additionally, attempting to paste the new partsover the old template, the vertical stab for example, the lines do not line up, resulting in a skewed model. So, my question is is there a layered template still floating around with the two file format? Or is there a new lua that incorporates the stack of new template files? Thanks

Hi, I am having issues with a custom F1 skin, and the log shows "2022-08-08 10:41:08.846 ERROR DX11BACKEND: Failed to create shader resource view for coremods/aircraft/mirage-f1/liveries/mirage-f1ce/5js grey chicho/miragef1-common_4.dds. Reason: The parameter is incorrect." The weird hints are: I can load the skin in Modelviewer2 and I see it perfectly fine If I load the skin in the mission editor, or during a flight, the texture of the error message appears completely black (not the missing texture pattern) I have re-downloaded the skin, and other squadron mates are using it without issues I have done a slow DCS repair, taking out all the mods, deleted metashaders2 and fxo folders... still nothing Appears in 2D and also in VR (using G2 with OpenXR/Opencomposite) I have even reinstalled the GPU drivers No diference between having the Livery in Coremods or in Saved Games Modelviewer: Mission Editor: Honestly, I have no idea how to continue... I am designing a skin in photoshop and have taken the SF value of the paint on the real aircraft and converted it to RGB values to match it exactly in game, however. Once I tried to preview the skin in game it does not appear to be the same colour as photoshop, I took samples from a screenshot and found the skin is way lighter than what it should be. Does anyone know of a way to colour correct in DCS so that it more closely resembles the real colour?

Hi all, so I have been trying to create some basic reskins from the DCS template by turning off and on certain layers to change the tail/unit designations and resave and export the files to put into their individual livery folders. So I created the 4 units 69th, 93rd, 96th and 343rd; I also used model viewer 2 to create a basic LUA file for each folder/texture but only the first folder/livery for the 69th showed up and this livery still wont let me turn off the default markings (still with the new ones underneath). I have been watching tutorials for skinning but I cannot find anything covering how to write the description.lua file to turn off the defaults.
