how r u guys going to use the mig21 in mp? .. are there plans of plane ratio vs. the f-15 to make it more challenging? like 8 Mig-21 versus 2 F15..

 

and wouldn't that entail training in squadrons so you could be effective in mig21.. otherwise going solo against f15 or 2 f15s is obviously not going to be a challenge for anybody..

Use them as designed, point defense. Or blitz with hit and runs while the Flankers and Fulcrums draw attention to themselves.

I'll use it for light ground attack like I do with the fulcrum, and for air combat I don't see it being that hard to kill an eagle if you can get the jump on one....... especially if you have GCI.

 

If servers want the whole mig21 vs F15 thing then removing the awacs for the eagles would make it a little more "fair"..... If you're into that.

Actually, if we look at time period where they were introduced : 1972 for Bis, and 1976 for F-15A, it can be simulated at least on a loadout basis :

 

F-15 would only have AIM-7 and AIM-9P as loadout on MiG vs F-15 servers. F-15 would have advantage as it should, but it wouldn't be as one sided as it would be with AIM-120 and AIM-9M. It would be much more challenging and fun for both F-15 and Bis pilots that way, if there would be servers like this. I believe with these loadouts, MiG-21Bis stands quite a decent chance, even if still overall disadvantaged.

 

But if we stick to 1970s for loadout, MiG shouldn't be able to use R-60M, only original R-60 was available before 1980s if I recall right, not the upgraded M model. I think we only have the M in game, and don't know if Leatherneck will introduce a R-60 as well.

 

This is both somewhat fair, yet still not unrealistic. At least, if I'd host a server, it would be hosted this way :)

You can also include bombers for the F-15s to escort or SAMs supporting the MiGs, etc.

At the end of the day, the skill of the pilot will also make a difference. If its someone like me who doesn't know how to use an F-15 radar properly, a good Mig 21 pilot can easily sneak up and get the 4th generation aircraft.

Maybe F-15's with Sparrows and "P" Sidewinders protecting heavily loaded "A" Vipers will give a fun server.

Also, there wont be any FW-190 files until august. MiG-21 and sabre should hopefully come before that.

No, it doesn't stand a decent chance, or at least it shouldn't. This sort of meeting has happened in RL, and the MiG-21's didn't stand a chance. And that was with the AIM-7Fs flaking out.

 

The MiGs got out-radared, out-missiled and out-turned by the F-15A's. In fact, the MiG-21 has the dubious honor of being the one and only air to air gun kill of the F-15ABCD.

 

F-18Cs on a bombing mission self-escorted and shot down 2 MiG-21s with AIM-7MH/P and AIM-9. They didn't have to drop their bombs, and continued to carry on their mission. Again, not a chance.
