The F-16 was short listed for future DCS titles in a staff post several years ago. They did say no promises, but work on the cockpit has actually started then and shared pictures with us.

Ah man dont make me search for that post. Must have been like 7 years ago.

9 years actually: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=503375&postcount=343 ;)

:D

Wait a minute, I thought the whole thread was about a Recon aircraft from WWII, like the successor for the Northrop F-15 Reporter? Did I get that wrong?I thought it was a prototype I never heard of or something.:smartass:

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

IF the F-16 is in the make.... Then it totally should come out 99% finished and full trumpets playing everywhere..... (That means, full campaign with dynamic mission endings and routes etc)

Why? Because that is the moment when half of the combat flight simulation players will (re-)install DCS World to get access to it.

I remember the list. Should be 7 years or so. IIRC, there also should be a new DCS DLC every 9 months or so. :D By ED, not 3rd party.

You guys are all blind. Wake up sheeples!

It's obvious!

F-16, sure, but that's just a stand in for:

"F" = 6th letter of alphabet = 6

So we get 6-16 = -10

Getting excited yet??!

Ok, but we are not done yet.

So, "Wags" starts with a "W", which is the 23rd letter of the English alphabet, and from this we get 23 - 10 = 13

The 13th letter of the alphabet is "M" .... yes!!!!!! M!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's just too big a coincidence!

It's clear that Wags was cryptically telegraphing that we are going to be getting a

Mitsubishi A6M Zero!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

why would you need F-16 when you have the Viggen, the Su-25T, the Mirage 2KC, and above all, the Hornet coming too? I was one of the falconeers whistling every now and then on this forum, fb, etc... I see all my efforts gone to waste so I stopped bothering.

AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

No one wants the F-16 anyway.

Yup. Everyone knows that the F-18 is better. It's simple math; 18 is 2 better than 16. That's a 12% increase. Case closed.

Does it make any (business) sense making an F16 module when you can find Falcon 4.0 in Steam for 2€ and downloading Falcon BMS for free ?

I'm pretty sure they dont want be compared with an almost free and very hardcore game.

We can only hope in a mod or in a 3rd party dev.

To me that that would just indicate that there are a bunch of people that play those because there are no alternatives. A lot of potential customers if their favorite aircraft was created in DCS.

And besides ED doesn't seem to be concerned about the other simulators out there.

With that logic the whole DCS:WWII affair does not make sense as you can find several objectively better WWII simulators on Steam. But that's another topic.

If the modern part of DCS grows and matures around Hornet, then sure, why not. After Hornet is finished (and that is still years away), an F-16 module would be cheaper to make. And being a very popular airplane around the world, it almost guarantees good sales.
