If we are talking only about performance, yes, the A-8 is inferior in all aspects, except rollrate if i'm not wrong.

 

 

If we are talking about engines, then the A-8 is much better suited for ground attacks.

some screenshots from its externals would be nice. always prefered the "normal" 190 looks over the long nosed D version.

Another FW190 ? why ?

It would be much great if that was a Stuka or IL-2, I would like to see an ww2 attacker airplane in DCS, we already have those ww2 tanks as target. Please !

 

Because an A-8 fits perfectly into the Normandy map but a Ju-87 or Il-2 (any Version) won‘t fit at all. And against those late war Fighters we have they would be just cannonfodder anyway.

A-8 may be better at low to mid altitudes perhaps. Not entirely sure though.

 

Also, if it can carry some of the ordnance that F and G models could, it will be a better attacker for axis side.

 

I would prefer a A-5 or F-8, as I'm a bit more into mid-war fighters or attackers. A-8 was rather heavy, but probably not as much as the Dora.

Wishlist: F-4E Block 53 +, MiG-27K, Su-17M3 or M4, AH-1F or W circa 80s or early 90s, J35 Draken, Kfir C7, Mirage III/V

A-8 and Dora should weigh more or less the same actually. A-8 might be slightly lighter when empty but loaded and MTO weights are very similar.

Thank you Coyote for answering us here.

 

I really hope the A-8 will have all the ground attack options it can realistically have. Allied birds like Mustang and upcoming Thunderbolt are great attackers, so something a bit more capable in ground pounding for Axis side will be very welcome.

What a pleasant surprise! The A-8 is a nice addition to the WW2 plane set. Wow 4 20 mill. cannons! The radial engine will be awesome I am sure, and It will be interesting to fly both and see the characteristics of each. Again wow, and thank you!

The Main Strength of Fw-190 is his dive Acceleration and Top Speed against Spit as Main Opponent...

When Spitfire was introduced that was one of the main Strength of the German 190 and 109...

But after 2 Years of patching the Spit, the Spitfire have currently the same Acceleration in a dive or level like the D9 without MW50, prolonged Dogfight is in the 190 not possible anymore against the Spit...

That's is why currently the P-51 is dying in the Multiplayer because there is no reason left to fly it...

A8 and D9 have both 1750 Take Off Power on the Paper, but

the A8 produce around 200PS less Horse Shaft Power more Drag and less thrust?

Not realy looking forward right now for Fw-190A8...

Dive: After the initial part of the dive, during which the FW 190 gains slightly, the Spitfire XIV has a slight advantage.

Turning Circle: The Spitfire XIV can easily turn inside the FW 190. In the case of a right-hand turn, this difference is not so pronounced.

Rate of Roll: The FW 190 is very much better. Conclusions: In defence, the Spitfire XIV should us its remarkable maximum climb and turning circle against enemy aircraft. In the attack it can affort to 'mix it' but should beware of the quick roll and dive.

If this manoeuvre is used by a FW190 and the Spitfire XIV follows, it will probably not be able to close

the range until the FW190 has pulled out of its dive.

The FW190 isn't just one plane. It went through MASSIVE changes throughout the War. The Dora is a long-nose, TurboCharged v12, High-Altitude, significantly-stretched Fighter-Bomber. The A-8 is a Radial powered, low altitude, much shorter A2A specialist. They were actually made the same year but were very different planes.

 

The long-nose interceptor versions (like the Dora) really should have had their own distinct identity, their own name. If it was called the FW-180 everyone would be fine with it, but it really is a separate species.

I am assuming the vertical axis in each graph is maximum achieved speed in km/h.

 

 

But what is the horizontal axis? Time in seconds?

 

 

 

Also, is that in-game data, or did you get the numbers from some historical source. If so, what was the reference? Thanks.
