[PLANNED 03 October 2019] Viper coming today in OB?

My two cents, because hell why not? Not like any of us really care about what each others opinion are unless they reinforce our own...

Anyway, I understand EA and why ED does it. I also understand why they pulled a few Devs off the Hornet to help with the Viper. It's probably going to be the most anticipated module ever because of people's love for the that aircraft. If they missed their early autumn release window people would go nuts. So they pull people off the Hornet and guess what? People go nuts. They're damned if they do damned if they don't. I'm not thrilled about it though.

Razbam released 3 aircraft with two still being incomplete and I think they would have continued had it not been for our collective screaming. Please learn from that episode ED. I'm not bothered by the Hornets pace like I was the Harriers. But there's alot of truth in EA removing incentive to finish a module. If you get paid at the start to enter a marathon why finish the last mile if you can just enter another? Because we will lose faith in your ability to finish one at all. Given the commonality between the Viper and the Hornet it does make sense. But it also makes me raise an eyebrow.

I'm holding off on the Viper for now because I don't need the discount and I want to add incentive to continue on the Hornet. I will end up buying it while it's still EA but maybe after a few updates and that I see Hornet work continues. I'm way more hyped for the Hind, the Cobra, and the F-4. But I wont be buying any of them if the Hornet hasn't been finished yet.

P.S. The idea of the preorder discount has always bothered me. It's like operating on credit. I know you have to keep a cash flow but wouldn't you prefer I spend 80 instead of 63.99?

Thanks for the feedback and support. We understand those who don't want to take on a new module before another is finished and we hope in time you get that chance to fly our new modules.

The Pre-order is a great way of supporting us in our development and helps future projects also. User's who are willing to believe in what we do at an early stage should be rewarded and the lower price is a good way of doing that.

Thank you

Thanks for the response BigNewy. It's nice to know feedback is taken to heart. And on a second read of my post I think it comes off a little more negative than intended. I do love this product and want to see ED succeed.

I personally think that now was the best time possible to step away from the Hornet. It is very capable aircraft as it is now. There is no need to have the ground radar or TWS asap. Not saying I'm happy if the Hornet isn't complete soon anyways, however

Hi

Once released and if you have purchased you will get to be part of the journey as the Viper progresses to completion.

And that's Early access in a nut shell folks. :) If you're prone to being impatient than I suggest waiting... as you're only going to be frustrated along the way.

For me I pre-ordered day one!

I believe if there wouldn‘t be a discount for Pre-Order into Early Access a fair amount of people would not buy those modules until they are finished and/or on sale again.

After all, paying for EA is a bit of a risk, like seen with the Hawk (or many other games people fell on their nose with). Not to forget you won‘t be able to use everything the module will offer for quite a long time in most cases.

The only way paying full price for EA would work I can see is by buying it for a discounted price in the beginning, and when the module is finished you pay the difference to the full price.

That way, one would not lose too much money if something goes wrong, and the developer would still get the money. But that system could be a bit complicated to use...AND I personally are very happy with the discount on pre-order. ????

Personally I'm glad I don't have to wait another year to fly a finished version of the Hornet for the first time. I can't be happier with the time I've invested in it to this point, even in its unfinished state. The pace of updates allows me to completely learn a system until a new feature is added. Trying the learn the A-10C (I started flying it in 2012) was like drinking from a fire hose. The Hornet has been a much shallower learning curve.

I look forward to flying an incomplete F-16C as soon as it's available and have confidence that ED will ultimately deliver the goods.

Thanks for the work ED. Keep releasing compelling modules and I'll keep signing up for Early Access.

That's the only reason I buy into early access. I grab it for the discount, I fly it a couple times in the incomplete state, then I usually dont touch it again until it's fleshed out and complete. Although, I occasionally take it up for a few flights whenever there's a new feature or update.

I get the sense that the 16 will be fully developed at a much faster pace than what we have seen with the Hornet. Still think it will take a good year.

I'm waiting to see what the final release date is before deciding whether I'll preorder.

Eh, you might be surprised. Once its out, it will have almost all of its major systems except Harm Targeting System and Air to Ground radar. Developing those will have great overlap/concurrency with the hornet. So perhaps sooner? We'll see.

I suspect the release will be announced on a Friday (maybe even this Friday) and will happen on the following Wednesday.

I've never regreted an ED-developed module, all have given me so many hours of enjoyment, so it was easy for me to preorder the F-16 back on July :)

The APG-68v5 and APG-73 are that similar in their A-G mode?

It's not really about the real life counter parts being similar, its about how you would represent them in a sim/game. The framework that makes it possible is the same, and then the visual representation is altered on top of that for each platform.

Because of the time its taking to develop the Hornet most of the guys on our wing did not buy the F16. A few of us did pre-order it but most did not.

Pretty sure you'd get a solid argument from those who didn't pre-order it; and rightfully so.
